I was told it was made in '81. 22 jumbo frets. Solid mahogony body, maple neck?, rosewood fretboard. It has a three way pickup selector for two G&L made humbuckers (the guy at the shop told me someone told him they were their favorite humbuckers - they seem pretty solid - adjustable pole pieces via allen wrench), a volume and tone for each pickup, and a three way red tipped phasing switch - from other reviews I gather it's probably inter-pickup phasing rather than coil tap or individual phasing. The body style is basically strat like - very simply looking and fairly narrow in all dimensions. I was told they made less than 300 of this model, and that it was like the second model G&L made. Therefore, I kindof view its simplicity to being somewhat of a prototype. It has a short (Les Paul like - however long that is) overall playing string length. It's a stop tailpiece bridge with individual saddle adjustments - fairly unique looking (somewhat tele style I guess). Jumbo frets, round (seventies strat like radius) neck - ebony stripe. It came with the original case - nice. Guitar is in overall really good condition - near perfect.

Sound : 9
Good solid humbucker sound. My style is kina all over the place and it seems pretty well suited for most styles. Generally pretty beefy. The three way phasing switch lends for good tonal variety - from, like I say, rich/full beefiness to more midrange skrawnk - out of phase I assume. I have 11's on it now, and think I'll try 12's for even more sustain and maybe add some volume to the top end as the high strings can be a little flimsy sounding as is.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action as it was given to me was pretty good - a little bit high, but I don't mind that - I guess I pick a little rough at times and prefer the sustain over fast action - guitar has good sustain and relatively little buzz.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It seems like a very solid guitar worthy of much play. The finish seems fairly thick and lasting. From what I've playing on it I would trust it for a stand alone AXXE.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea.

I've been playing for about fifteen basically self taught years. Most of which it's been strictly hobby for me. I play with friends, like to jam - even by myself (ever played with a Boss loop station or competitor? That's added some enjoyment to playing by myself). My styles pretty simple - like to have fun. I try to be a little contemporary - indie rock and the such.

I bought, or actually traded a '79 strat for this, which was a really nice heavy strat (heaviest strat I've ever held). I'm not sure I'm completely happy with that trade, as I like the wide headstock, heavy, cool looking and sounding 70's strats. But this guitar's pretty neat and something new. I like it and have no real complaints.
