I play all styles of music but I mainly use this guitar to get a heavier sound with the bridge humbucker. This guitars features and soun quality is right up there with my 2003 Fender American Deluxe Strat. I love it!!!!!!!!!!! You can get that strat sound from the single coils and then get a scortching lead out of the humbucker. The coolest feature is the 3 mini toggle switches that allow you to switch on/off a combination of pickups or my favorite, by just turning on 1 switch, you can use it as a kill switch. For an example of what I am talking about, check out our myspace page and listen to the song Apache Funk every time heavy chorus begins, I cut out the guitar signal in rhytym to the song. www.myspace.com/colfaxmusic Truly a BADASS feature!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this guitar on Ebay for $300.00 With the original hardshell case. That is a steal of a deal. I hope to never get rid of this guitar, as it is probably already a collectors item. It works great with all my effects. I have been playing guitar since I was 9. I am 27 now. My effects from my guitar to my amp goes like this: Akai Intelliphase analog phaser>boss cs-3 w/ monte allums opto mod> boss oc-2>boss aw-3 w/ ev-5 expression pedal option>maxon sd-9>menatone fish factory>digitech whammy>guyatone sv-2>digitech turbo flange> guyatone md-3>boss dd-6> and finally bbe sonic stomp. I am currently using a 1983 Peavey MX 112, 130 watt tube hybrid amp.

Its INCREDIBLE! I bought a cryng machine! It sings! it roars! It weeps! man...
Made in 2002 I got it used for smoking price! TOO Great for the price! Man!
I have about 12 guitars, they are all olds Fender, Gibson and 2 PRS CU 24, and McCarty.. and I have to admit that this thing rocks over any of my fenders and my Gibson 69 SG..!
It gives blues tone easly with the single on the rear pus with a coil tap switch and it gives "Breaking the law"with just the TB-4 humbucker!
I mostly play contemprary christian music and it perfectly suits my style!

I have been playing music for 12 years with all kinds of guitars. You see, I'm a gear geek!
I have, and had lots of old fenders, Gibsons, PRS, Tom Anderson, Warmoth, Ibanez and Schecters.
But to me G&L is just enough over any fancy PRS stuff.
It brings my music alive with full sound.
Just a tip for you guys,
I have 3 Fender Custom shop and a 69 Relic. This G&L Invader is simply has better tone and wood quality.
Its that simple!

It's got the two single coil G&L Rails and a Seymour humbucker at the bridge. It sounds great and it's ready to rumble. I thimk it's designed to be a serious rock axe. Which it is. Its sound is just right.

I traded away a Strat Plus Deluxe to get this on faith that G&L would be better. I believe it is. I love the way it has the Gibson seriousness and the Fender funk. I needed a Floyd Rose for ceratn applications and I am pretty certain this will cover my needs for the time being. I've been converted to a G&L guy and I'm a fan. This guitar does nothing but solidify that.Buy one; see what you've been missing.

bought that guitar on ebay, already equiped with seymour duncan pickups instead of the originals. seem to be perfect.
the wood of this guitar is just incredible, even wihtout an amp you feel every note vibrating !!! supereasy to play and to handle.
only the floydrose that came with the guitar is not working perfectly, so ein just fixed it with some wood as i hardly use it. thats why the 9.

playing al kinds of style, 99% studio. that guitar gives me almost everythingi want though i have like 15 guitars here. its rocking really hard and it can me warm and bluesy as well as honky. i was about to buy a custom shop SG as well as a seventies tele, there's no need for both anymore...
every position on the 5-way switch puts another guitar in your hands!
and ist mainly the incredible quality of the wood that is kickin the sound of the guitar. got to say that once more.

i am a pro producer for 6 years playing guitar for 14 years, got about 15 guitars right now. i just bought that guitar because it was so cheap for the value ( even though i didn't like the highend-strat-look ;-) ), but now i can not let it go at all. if would have to keep only one of my electics i would keep that baby!!!

2003 deluxe model made in USA, 22 frets, 25.5" scale length, thick mahogany back with awesome (albeit somewhat thin) maple top with natural finish, H/S/S passive pickups (Seymour Duncan TB4 humbucker, G&L blade-style humbuckers at mid and neck positions, 5-way switch with mini-toggle to split the TB4, birds-eye maple neck with indian rosewood fretboard, MOP fret markers, USA Floyd Rose double-locking trem. Mine included deluxe (black tolex) case and some allen wrenches.
It's hard to give this anything less than a 10... the top is awesome, the number of pickup switching options is great... the case is great, USA Floyd, etc... it ain't missin' a thing.

No guitar can do it all, so my score here is based on what I expect a "super-strat" to do, since the Invader is just that: a super-strat. The style of music you use super-strats for is hard rock, and this guitar just plain WAILS! I've been using it with a Mesa Boogie Nomad 55W amp (with Genze Benz 212 cab).
Since all pickups are humbucking, it's obviously very quiet, but they have decent power and can push the amp plenty hard. Sound is very rich and full... plenty of squeal and harmonics available from the bridge bucker; very full, rich tone from the blade humbuckers... excellent variety for a super-strat.
As noted, I play a lot of hard rock with this, and it can be a monster for that kind of music: crank the amp, hit a chord, and just listen to the sweet sound! Or wail away with the meedly-meedly, and it just does it all brilliantly. It's a super-strat, though, not a Les Paul or a "pure" strat... don't go looking for those tones here: this is a wang-monster that sounds better than your average wang-monster. People generally give a '10' here for Suhr, Grosh, Anderson, and the like... and this guitar is RIGHT THERE with all of 'em: you simply can't beat it for a super-strat.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

10, 10, 10... this guitar is staggering: gorgeous! The maple top is beautiful, the back of the neck (bird's-eye maple) is also gorgeous... the mahogany back is awesome... it's just great no matter how you view it... add to that the fact that it plays like a breeze and stays in tune perfectly.... you can't do better.
Reliability/Durability
:

It has already withstood live playing. I automatically deduct 1 for any Floy-equipped guitar, though, because a string break will put you out of tune, which can really kill you in the middle of a song: there's no rescue... but that's just the price you pay for playing a Floyd, though.
Overall, the guitar is built like a tank, though... neck is thicker than most super-strats, probably why it stays in tune so well.

n/a -- I did email them to ask about a microphonic pickup in a different G&L I owned, and they got back the next day, which is good for this industry.

I've been at it about 15 years... this is my 6th G&L, (although only the 2nd currently)... I've also been through 6 McInturffs, and several other guitars (PRS, Brian Moore, Fender, etc... but believe it or not, no Gibsons). I've been through tons of amps as well: Fender, Marshall, Mesa, Rivera, Carr, Victoria, Trace Elliot, etc...
Loves: Looks and sounds awesome... the ultimate show guitar that brings a mountain of tone along with it.
Hates: Nothing really, but I should block the Floyd from pulling back...
Comparisons: having played most everything out there, I'd say that, over time, I've done the comparisons. I got this one having not played it ahead of time, so there were no direct comparisons at the time of purchase. BUT... I've been through so many guitars, and I'm settling down with a few G&L's and that's all: an ASAT, a Comanche, and this... that really should be enough.
Great guitar, and I got a truly phenomenal deal on it. Yes, I would replace it with another one if it were stolen.

Made in 2000. 22 Frets. Beautiful Guitar. Ebony Fretboard upgrade with no fret markings on the face of the guitar. Swamp Ash Body with GREAT resonance. Birdseye Maple neck. Has a single Seymore Duncan humbucker and 2 single coil pickups with a 5 way stick. Has a strat style finsih (go figure with the company) Silver trim pieces and a Silver Flyod Rose Tremelo. Came with hardshell case.

This is the smoothest guitar I have ever had my hands on. (I chose this guitar over a PRS Custom 22) The guitar has great resonance with both a clean and crunchy sound.

The guitar came with medium gauge strings. When I switched it to GHS Custom Lights I had to make some minor adjustments to the spring on the trem system (as it would be on ANY guitar when string gauge changes are done)
This guitar plays and sounds and looks like a dream

The guitar is extremely well made with hand picked quality pieces. All hardware is metal and should withstand any abuse that should befall it, however, this guitar is my baby and I don't see anything happening with it.
I do make sure that I have a backup guitar handy. It's just necessary for any guitar with a Flyod Rose trem to have a backup.
