My Legacy Deluxe is made in 2003.
This guitar is all I needed. I am a Stratocaster player but I always wanted humbucker sound to go with single coils sound and this guitar is perfect for that sound I have been searching for. Humbucker coil can be splited to single coil by pulling volume knob so I can really get close to Stratocaster set up also. The top of the guitar is amzing looking maple quilt with nice binding and beautiful transparent orange finish and matching headstock colour also. Neck is birdseye neck and very dark rosewood board. Everything is perfect.

As I said above I was looking for Stratocaster with added humbucker sound and this guitar had succeeded for what I was searching for.
I can sound like Jimi Hendrix to Santana to Billy Gibbons without changing guitars.
It is also capable of gettiing good jazz sound by using neck pickup and treble cut off. Pickup selector 2 and 4 positions gets that sweet Stratocaster sound just as good as my real Stratocaster. Humbucker is Seymore Duncan and it is a first class pickup.

I bought this used so I changed to .09 string set and most guitars are very difficult to get right intonation on .09 set specially 6th string but this guitar I managed to get even 6th string to correct intonation.
I had some of my previously owned Fender custom shop Stratocasters could not get them to be in perfect intonations on all strings so I got rid of them. I have one Fender Stratocaster now that is Cunetto relic which is a keeper and this Legacy Deluxe is just as good or better in someway so this Legacy Deluxe is a keeper also. I tweeked a little on trussrod tension and action is to my liking and no string buzz with very low action. Quilted top and birdseye neck are beautiful to look. I love the look of relic also. It is good to have two guitars in opposite beauty. Also vibrato system for this guitar is excellent and the guitar stays in tune even after heavy usage of vibrato arm.

This guitar was made four years ago and still in top notch condition after previous owner told me he had played this guitar very hard so I expect it to be very reliable guitar.

I have been playing guitar over forty years and professionally thirty seven years and I had owned 1957, 1959, 1965, 1968, 1978, and 1997 relic Stratocaster and this Legacy Deluxe is better than all except tie with relic model so I am very happy and I will give 10 here too.
For the money I paid this guitar it is one of the best guitar purchase I have ever made.

G&L Legacy Deluxe -2004: 22 frets, quilt maple top over an american Tilia body w/2 Alnico V single coil and a Seymore Duncan TB-4 humbucker in the bridge. The humkbucker split by push pull on the volume knob. Dual fulcrum tremelo, schaller locking machine heads, maple fret board, graphite nut, quilted maple orange, G&L molded case.

I've played a bunch of guitars in my life. None have sounded better than this one. Maybe as good but that is far and few. The humbucker is tight thick and cutting. the guitar absolutely screams!!! The 2 Alnico single coils are great also. They are relatively quiet and have that throaty inside out tone I've always wanted. No complaints whatsoever.

Guitar set up was OK. Definitely not great but playable. I have tweaked and turned some things and got it playing like a monster! Action is nice and low. Bending is effortless. This guitar says "play me"! Finish is beautiful. (One comment Every g&l guitar has those dots on it behind the neck and body, don't know why they just do). I can't say I'm thrilled with the tremelo. The g string goes sharp when I use it. I've been working on the nut and setup and it's getting better but for now I won't use the trem much. In general the workmanship is as flawless as it needs to be. Truly a well made instrument.

I can't see me ever contacting G&L. Maybe for the tremelo if I don't get it right. No need for me to comment.

I've owned many guitars even a few G&L's. This is the nicest guitar of all. If I had the money I don't know if I'd buy a Suhr or Tyler, maybe. I don't know if I could tell the difference between them, but then again I never played one. I looked at the Fenders and there was no comparison whatsoever. I got a really good deal when I bought this I feel and you can find them on Ebay for $1000+/-. I think if you want to spend between 900-1500 bucks you cannot buy a better guitar The G&L is everything I've ever wanted in a guitar and more. Nice job G&L

This is a new 2004 (I purchased in January 2005) USA made Legacy Deluxe, S/S/H, 5 way switch, coil split by pulling up the volume pot. The pickups are two single coil G&L's and a Seymour Duncan JB. The guitar has a flamed maple top in a honey finish, simulated natural binding and a solid mahogany body, no pickguard, the electronics are all accessed through the back of the guitar. The guitar weighs about the same as my Eric Clapton signature strat. It has a Birdseye neck, rosewood fretboard and a #4 neck which is a bit wider than the standard neck width (you can check it all out on the G&L Website). Sperzle locking tuners, medium jumbo frets and a G&L case similar to an SKB case. The maple top is not a thin veneer but more than 1/8 inch thick on the edges. The mahogany body is gorgeous.

The Legacy Deluxe is G&L's top of the line strat style guitar, the pickups are well balanced, the single coils get all the good strat cluck and sweet neck position sounds, the 2 and 4 positions with the bridge pickup split get those excellent inbetween sounds (think Knopfler and Vaughn), the JB in the brige has gets an excellent humbucking sound for really very good for a bolt on neck guitar. The action is right where it needs to be with .10s, the trem stays in tune under repeated banging thanks to the locking tuners. Sound and playability are really excellent and on par with custom made guitar costing much more.

The guitar came set up very well, the frets were highly polished, not dings, scratches or fit issues. The pickups were adjusted and balanced very well, no routing issues, everything on the fit was very well done and tight. The top is nicely bookmatched with some excellent flame. But here's where things kind of went south, after having the guitar for a few weeks a stain appeared on the top of the guitar on right in the area of the contour where my arm rests. The stain isn't in the clear coat, it's in the maple, it wasn't there when I paid for the guitar. The problem continues to get worse, I've had a few people who work with wood (cabinetry and custom furniture makers) look at it and they think it's oil in the wood (perhaps from an oily hand) that was sanded off but is now coming up to the surface due the heat from my arm while playing.... I discussed this with G&L - but I'll talk about that later. Due to this rather disgusting stain in an otherwise beautiful guitar body I'm rating the finish on this guitar a 1.... it shouldn't have any problems like this, it should be perfect.

I own a G&L S500 and an ASAT Deluxe, these guitars have been played for years and I've never had a problem. But I do feel the issue with the stain on the body will have an impact on the poly clear coat sometime in the future, it may not happen but I have my doubts. But because I even have to thing about this I'm knocking the reliability for this instrument down a few pegs.

customer service at G&L is pathetic and should be referred to as customer nonservice. I live about 10 minutes from the G&L factory in Southern California, I purchased the guitar from a dealer in San Diego County about an hours drive. When I called the customer service manager at the factory (Tony) I was first told I would have to take the guitar back to the dealer before G&L would even look at it, I explained I'm just a few miles away and after some common sense discussion Tony agreed to see me, a week later, which I agreed with. I took the guitar to the factory, Tony looked at it from a few different angles and told me it's just the wood and there's nothing they can do about it. Now, G&L prides themselves on their craftsmanship and quality control, I find it almost impossible to believe they would have let a guitar with this level of defect in a AAA flamed maple top leave their factory. Like I said the stain wasn't in the guitar when I bought it, it came up after a few weeks (but well within the warranty period). Tony said it wasn't a defect in form, fit or function so basically I'm FUCKED. He said if I still wasn't happy I could return the guitar to the dealer and let them deal with G&L on a replacement body, which could take months. Funny, nobody had a problem taking my money when I paid for the guitar but nobody was interested in helping me with a problem. I'm an honest person, I work very hard for what I'm able to buy and based on the way I was treated and continue to be treated by G&L I will never buy another G&L guitar, nor would I recommend to any of my fellow guitar players a G&L product. If I could give a negetive number for customer service I would do so, but since 1 is all I can do I'll settle for that. By the way, I purchased the guitar from Buffalo Bros in Carlsbad CA, I sent a picture of the guitar to John (the owner) who was going to look into the problem, I'm waiting to hear back on what they feel they can do.

I've been playing for a few years, I'm 46 years old and have been in and out of bands since the 70's. If it were lost or stolen I would be pissed but I would never buy another G&L product, I would save the money and buy a Suhr. I own a fender clapton strat, a G&L S500 and a G&L ASAT Deluxe - I've been very happy with my guitars but then I've never had to deal with a problem with any of the manufacturers. I love the way the guitar plays but at over $1,500.00 when you throw in tax this thing should be perfect and it's much less than perfect. I wish it didn't have the rather ugly stain on the otherwise beautiful maple top. The guitar isn't bad enough to warrant a 1 so I'm giving it a 3, in the event G&L can't or won't fix the guitar I do have the option of trading the guitar up to more expensive guitar at Buffalo Bros and getting what I paid for it, but I don't feel I should have to trade up, spend a few hundred dollars more and get the quality I should have receieved when I purchased this guitar. The more I think about it I'm going to give it a 2..

Not sure what year model. All hardware is stock for this model. Passive electronics. Absolutely gorgeous honey-burst color on body and headstock. This axe is too good-looking to be covered with a pick guard! Bridge is fabulous - stays in tune even after dives. Tuners are locking Schallers.

I play everything from rock & metal to jazz & house. This axe is so versitile, it can take any genre on with ease. Each time you switch the settings, it sounds like a different guitar! My only complaint is that there is some very slight noise on the treble settings.

This guitar is absolutely solid. If you are debating between a Fender and a G&L, definitely go for the latter. I have played lots of guitars and can tell when quality work and materials have been used. G&L has always exceeded Fender in that department. The hardware and finish will definitely last a long time.

I play just about everything except Rap and Metal. I use a Peavey Classic 212 combo with an Ibanex digital delay and phaser. The tube amp has switchable channels for a true tube overdrive that can't be beat. This guitar sounds incredible. Beauitiful clean sounds and a real fat overdrive with the humbucker. I have been playing professionally for over 30 years and this is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. G&L really put this one together well and it rates a 10+

I had the 7th fret filed slightly when I got the guitar. But a few minutes with my luthier and it is outstanding. The action is low and easy to play. The feel of the guitar is perfect, especially if you like strats. It is comfortable to hold and easy to get to all frets. The finish is just plain beautiful. No flaws here.

i have only gigged once with this guitar but plan on using it as my main axe. I believe that G&L will stand behind this outstanding instrument, they have a great reputation for doing so. All co0mponents are first class and I can't see any reason why this guitar will not stant the test of time. I'm counting on it.

This guitar is diverse; the humbucker taps great! PTB system is the best, it's got to be heard. PTB stands for Passive Treble and Bass. There is no boost, as that would require a preamp. Sounds range from vintage strat to full blow crunch....the most versatile guitar I've ever owned! Responsive controls beyond belief, seriously!
I don't believe I could be happy with any other after owning this one! If it got stole, I'd order the exact same thing. It would be worth the wait...

The finish is flawless, the color is awesome. Everything was set up great from the factory. The ebony fingerboard is a must! I've previously owned a Les Paul Custom, Guild Bluesbird proto-type(you've never seen one like this, believe me!), Heritage Gary Moore model and the legendary Kramer Stagemaster Deluxe One... this Legacy Deluxe blows them all away! I don't believe I'd be happy or inspired to play any other guitar as much as this one!

This guitar is hand made in the USA; go online and look for a similar guitar from the copy cat companies (you know who they are, but why do they charge so much?)...you'll pay 2 or 3 times as much! For less!!! FACT; and it won't have the PTB system, the dual fulcrom vibrato or the bi-cut neck! G & L is the standard, that's right.
I've got a friend named DJ SKOTTE who's used em for decades and they stand the test of time. Matter of fact, I sold him my old Legacy and had to replace it with this one! ouch, when you get it, KEEP IT!
