Regular '07 USA G&L Legacy in Emerald Blue w maple board and fat #1V neck with 22 smallish (by today's standards) vintage frets.
G&L AlNiCo V s/s/s pickups.
Two-point G&L trem.
Chromed metal parts. Offwhite color plastic parts (slightly mint green), except the back trem spring cover which is black w white middle lamination.
Came with rectangular black plastic "G&L" embossed case which has a shallow neck channel for great support. Also included a chromed trem handle, and a letter of authenticity.
Sound
:10
Has a great sound with a hollow woody character to the midrange. I'd guess the swimming pool rout adds back some resonance lost with the poly finish. Seems resonant in the body and neck.
Using the middle pickup alone or in combination, and taking off some highs AND lows (with the bottom bass pot) I can get a distinctive "half-cocked wah pedal" type of tone that's perfect for the way I want to sound soloing with distortion.
Plus it gets all the usual strat type tones, but without any wimpy or fragile sounds like I've heard on some strats.
Plenty bright even with the poly coated alder body.
Not brittle, but can be nice and glassy when that's wanted/needed.
Thankfully not shrill or "ice pick-in-the-ear" sounding.
Can be edgy with distortion, but in the right way (nice and edgy?)for my ears.
Meaty enough strat sounds.
Fortunately the treble and bass pots work smoothly and are of the right values to bring in some warmth without killing off the character with too much mud. Can be dialed in to "just right" easily without messing with the amplifier.
I play mostly R&B or "Soul" music with this through a Tech 21 TM 60 amp when playing out, but also dabble in styles from Jazz, Blues, and Gospel, to Country, when couch noodling.
This guitar is a great sounding and versatile workhorse. The tone controls really do a great job of trimming the tones on the fly.
I don't often use the trem at live venues, but it stays in tune when I play around with it at home.
It humbucks in switch positions #2 & #4, and sounds good in every switch position.
I set the bridge pickup pretty close to the strings and it gets a better than average strat bridge pu tone, plus you can back off some highs with this tone system. Not a telecaster, but can go sorta more in that direction than many strats.
I use GHS Nickel Rockers 0.010" - 0.046" and they work very well and sound balanced on this guitar.

This is another 10!
The guitar and neck were made in 2007, but are every bit as nice -if not nicer- than an old used Legacy I had before in Cobalt Blue w rosewood board, some years back (that one may have had Seymour Duncan pu's, stock). That one was slighly darker sounding overall, if memory serves.
The neck joint is hella tight.
The Emerald Blue poly body paint comes with some fine metal-flake (or more accurately described maybe as "candied" car coat) finish, subtle and deep under the gloss. A nice effect.
This guitar is beautiful in its way: it has the gun-stock tint and a very glossy finish (like lacquer) on the neck. The Emerald Blue is a nice shade, a bit lighter than Lake Placid Blue, and with a green/blue hue that doesn't nauseate me after a while like an old Jade Green Deluxe Fender Strat I once had did.
The combined Emerald Blue/tinted maple neck is somewhat unique and kinda grew on me. Pretty guitar. People comment on it. I've never cared about that stuff but have begun to appreciate that it does look nice.
The finish and metal parts chrome is flawless, everywhere.
Sealed tuners are also flawless mechanically and visually.
The stock nut seems to be cut correctly for height and doesn't pinch the strings that I can tell.
There are no nagging little imperfections in playability like so many strats seem to have. Everything lines up perfectly and works optimally.
The frets are small polished vintage (on a 12" radius) and are perfect in feel, and every note is clear and precise. Bending is no problem. No fretting out anywhere.
I keep the action as it came: perfect. No buzzes. Fast and slick feeling. Medium low I'd say. The neck has a beefy vintage slight "V" shape and feels just right to me.
The intonation is as close as I can hear it at the 12th fret. I have not felt I needed to adjust it though I'm sure the stock strings back when I got it were another brand than I use. I guess they must have been 10's too though.

I've had G&L ASAT, Legacy, and S-500 guitars before. They're as durable as bowling balls.
The strap buttons are especially good: big, and shaped right. I just stick a couple of bread-wrapper plastic closures over the strap at each end and presto: cheap strap locks! I do have commercial strap locks around too, on other rigs, but this guitar doesn't need them.
I play out at least once a week plus sometimes extra rehearsals and generally don't bring a backup along.
I keep spare strings, solder & iron, fuses, cables, etc. handy yes, but I don't worry about this guitar at all. Ever.
I pretty much baby all my stuff anyway. I haven't had a catastrophic gear failure in decades (my amp is solid state).
So far the frets show no signs of premature wear or even marking yet.
A maple bolt-neck solid alder (or ash) bodied Fender design is as strong as any guitar could be, and still be playable.

No experience here.
I do all my own work.
This guitar is two years old and has never needed anything but a wipedown and some new strings every couple of weeks.
It hasn't even needed seasonal neck adjustments. I have not had to touch the trussrod yet.

I've been playing guitar almost 50 years, and have had lots of them.
I think of a guitar as a tool so haven't "loved" one in a long time, but that said I think this one is about as perfect as could be for what I want and need at this time in an electric guitar.
There's nothing about it I don't like or that doesn't work for me.
I like those mini-toggle switches on some G&L's for the extra sounds they can provide, but it doesn't bug me that this one doesn't have that.
Even though I'm not much of a trem guy I like this one very much and don't wish for a hardtail and/or I'm not gonna block it. It sounds great as-is and adds no hassle factor (unlike many trem-equipped guitars out there).
I've had many Fenders but there was always some little nagging thing with them somewhere in the frets or parts alignment.
The G&L's are a cut above in that dept.
I would replace it in kind if needed, or maybe with a G&L S-500. They're about the same for my uses.
A little more oomph from the bridge pu wouldn't be a bad thing, but that goes for strats generally in my experience.
Sometimes I think one of the G&L Jumbo MFD pickups would be an interesting experiment in the bridge position, but I will not be altering this guitar.
I've gotten away from using the -bridge pickup only- for solos, so probably don't require anything more from the bridge pickup anyway than it already offers. I'm just from the old Tele school (more bridge output is better) I guess.
I'm afraid of losing something were I to alter the mix on this guitar in hopes for a beefier bridge pickup alone sound. I seem to do most of my soloing on this guitar with the middle pickup alone or in combination with the bridge, using the pots to dial in the sound.
I like that the pots are all usable and I wind up using them on this guitar more than others. I can turn some things down and leave a reserve without losing all the tone. Farewell to always having everything on a guitar at ten and dancing on pedals to get the levels and eq right! Hooray!

I also play a MusicMan Silhouette Special and to be fair the G&L sounds a little bit less smooth/polished than that guitar but the Legacy has got a great vibe about it,the sounds seem very individual and not like the Duncans,Dimarzios et al on other guitars
I go through a line 6 POD XT live and its well matched with the musicman when both going through an a/b box.I can switch between the two without any worries or hassles.
overall soundwise...it's a strat(albeit a highly individual one)

I kind of understand this is a legacy std (Fullerton series?)
Is the only difference to the regular legacy the small selection of finishes available? anything else? well I cant tell the difference to any other regular american G&L I ever owned/played
these are beautiful guitars made with mojo and soul.I love what this company does and I will continue to buy their guitars and basses.I am always impressed by the way they look, feel and play.
I would definetely buy another if this were lost or stolen

2006 Legacy Standard, Lake Placid Blue/Rosewood neck, with matching headstock. The gig case is a beautiful thing, (way nicer than those molded plastic G&L cases that just seem to smell forever)...plenty of storage and it holds the guitar really nice.
3 G&L alnico V single coils, strat body shape, dual fulcrum trem, chunky but nice neck.
: The Legacy has a nice chunky D shape contour, frets are nice, action is low. Frets are really jumbo, almost like bass frets! I personally like them a little lower in height. Plays real easy and is a joy to bend strings on.

: Can someone tell me why, on all Legacys, the pickups have to be almost maxed out in height to reach the strings? I think the neck pockets should be cut deeper, to allow the bridge to be lower, as well as the pickups. I guess its designed this way, but I had a '95 S500 that had a lower cut neck pocket. I think it could be at least 1/8" deeper.

: The Sound: After adjusting pickup height, the G&L alnicos sound nice. They do seem to have a full, but focused high end, almost being brittle sounding through my Princeton Reverb. Great in between sounds. Even better with some overdrive. Not mushy, you hear all the notes in the chords. Backing off the treble PTB seemed to smooth things out nicely.
Great for blues, country, classic rock, anywhere a strat is in order...
Action, Fit, & Finish
:3
Action was set up fine from the factory.
: Cons: The nut was horrible. Really tall, the strings were way deep in the slots. Had to file the nut down to about 60% of its height. Strings were binding in the slots, forget using the tremolo! You could hear the strings clinking & sticking in there. Used some 1500 grit sandpaper in the slots to polish them, now its working fine. Really not acceptable on a guitar of this caliber & price.
: Also the bass control (PTB) was broken...the shaft actually came apart from the pot, which is weird, because if it was one piece when assembled, there should be no way for it to break off, unless some one with a grip like Superman spun the dial so hard, it twisted off the rest of the pot below the pickguard. Anyway, the dealer is going to get me a new one. I was able to repair this, but who knows how long it will hold.
: Even with 3 springs, the trem is pretty loose. All 3 springs are the same, I heard there was supposed to be a heavy duty spring of a different color in the middle, but not on this guitar. With 10s. double stops are slightly out of tune.
: Another thing that urked me was the length of the trem bar. I cut about 1.5" off of it, and bent the angle a little higher. Made a cap for it. Works great for me now. And yes, its chrome, instead of the unpolished look!

Been playing over 30 years...: Closing note..this guitar is every bit worth the money...I've owned both Legacys, the more expensive model, and this Standard, and I really can't tell any difference between the two. Its a home run!
: The only difference I believe is that its a 3pc body, and only available in limited colors.
