1991 ASAT Classic Leo Fender Signiture.
Bought second hand 1996 for $1300.00 AUS in Sydney,
Stock Standard, Standard Original Case Body is Red and Black with Black Metal scratch plate
Blond Maple Neck, no binding. Leo sig is in white, and ASAT Classic is in Gold with Black shadow.
Finish is accurate, neck has slight timber flaw middle of first fret.May have been a "second" because of this, as its not damage, and was made this way. We are used to getting the dreggs from production line is Australia..
Having said that, it always stays in tune and is 100% reliable with everything from machine heads to electronics

Very good sounds, better than a similar Tele.
Use through a Vox AC15 (Made in England)sometimes use Boss dist. pedel
No Noise at all, Pots have always worked perfectly, swith between neck and bridge pick up flawless.
Play Rock and Lead with this Guitar.,
I Mainly use neck Pick up, very full sound, heeps of sustain.
I can get this thing humming by strumming and its a nice tight rock guitar for lead, - back pick up cuts very high.

Guyitar is Set up well, and I get it set again every 12 months, when the neck buzz starts, due to many hours of flogging. I have only changed rear string adjusters, thats it.
The Finish is strong, doesn't chip easily, and this guitar gets worked hard!

Being playing since 1986.
Its a unique Guitar, made by a unique company, inspired by a unique man. Leo didn't sign it for nothing. The value will hold well if I decide to sell it. I love this Guitar, and wouldn't consider a Fender Tele as a swap! no way! unless it was a classic..
I also Play a wine Gibson Les Paul, and have a Fender Strat that I do not use.

Made in 1989 in Fullerton, California, this Telecaster styled guitar is finished in a rare (for the model, which was usually offered in blonde or natural) cherryburst nitrocellulose lacquer over an ash body with a Leo Fender signature decal on the upper bout. It has a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard over a multi-piece maple neck which is bolted to the body via a three bolt system which is way superior to the CBS era system used by Fender. As I understand, G&L makes the necks by sawing the maple, installing the truss rod and then gluing the parts together, thus making the necks more structurally stable as compared to standard Fender maple necks. At the same time this procedure reduces the waste of raw materials. The neck shape is thinner and with a flatter radius (I believe it's approximately 9") and medium sized frets as compared to a vintage Fender neck (I tend to prefer Fender vintage baseball bats but this neck shape is very comfortable). With regards to the electronics, the guitar comes equipped with G&L (Leo Fender designed) passive adjustable polepiece ceramic magnet single coil pickups which are wired in standard CBS Tele style (3 way switch with: neck pickup, neck and bridge pickups in hum cancelling mode and bridge pickup with tone control fully functional in all positions)with one volume and one tone control. By using stronger ceramic magnets Leo achieved higher output with fewer wire turns thus preserving a clear tone. The bridge (an exclusive G&L design) is a massive top loaded chrome plated unit which is literally anchored to the body. As I've read, this unit is instrumental in transferring string vibrations to the body and judging by my experience, it works. Individual nickel plated saddles for each string make intonation an easier task. Tuners are G&L units (manufactured by Schaller) and are very stable and the posts have a downward taper, making for better string positioning. The guitar comes with a black hardshell case with gold piping trim and case keys, adjusting tools, owner's manual and 10 year warranty card (which I quickly filled out and sent; thankfully haven't needed it all these years).

This instrument is one of the most if not the most versatile I've ever played. I play power pop, rock'n'roll, roots styled country/blues based rock and it works perfectly for all styles. In fact, I know if I had only one guitar I could make do with just this one. I've played it through a variety of amps: silverface Fender Champ, '54 Fender Deluxe, 4x10 Fender Bassman Reissue, '59 Fender Twin Replica, Marshall Bluesbreaker Reissue, Korg Vox AC30 Reissue with Vox Blues, stock Marshall '72 Super Lead 100W & modded Marshall '77 JMP MKII 100W (both into Greenback loaded 4x12 Marshall cabs). Effects pedalboard is a Korg G3 unit. It works perfectly with all of them; this guitar has great definition even under heavy distortion and all notes come through flawlessly. It also has a great clean sound, totally balanced in the tonal spectrum; can give you country twang and at the same time sound bluesy and nasty, so it's rich and full but can be bright all at the same time. Power chords ring incredibly true.

The guitar came beautifully adjusted from the dealer, and didn't have any flaws that I can recall when I bought it. I even switched to .011's and didn't have to adjust anything; I've had it for over 10 years now.

It's definitely from the Tele family so it's built like a tank. The only complaint I have is a little bit of corrosion under the plating (the plating appears to have little bumps) on one of the knobs and a small area on the bridge unit. Harware is rock solid and the finish is top notch. I used it a couple of days ago and basically the other guitar I brought to the gig just sat there because it (which has P-90 pickups) turned out to be noisier and didn't sound as good. There was probably some electrical interference and, even though single coil, the ASAT performed better under those conditions.

I've been playing for 20 years and have one of almost everything you can imagine; I have a collection of fine guitars of all established brands and some weirdos. I would definitely buy it again, any G&L, since I sincerely believe they are one of the finest guitars being manufactured today, and a great value too, since they cost less than their Fender counterparts and, in many instances, are better. G&L's are definitely underrated; when people start finding out about them, their prices will go up. How can they sell an American made instrument at those prices? I don't know.
