This is a Review of a GFS Pickup.
Why Here?
Because I absolutely detest HC's Pickup review page.
End Rant!!!
---
Purchased from eBay from Guitar Fetish (Guitarfetish).
Advertised Specs:
Loudmouth MAX POWER LEAD
Bridge Pickup @14.5K
Neck Pickup @13K
My Bridge @ 14.1K
My Neck @ 13.2K
Close enough!
Alnico Bar Magnet under Coils.
1/4" Slugs in both the North and South row.
Slugs follow the arch of the strings.
(The middle slugs stick out farther).
Open faced chrome Humbucker cover W/almost all of the top removed & a one piece Black plastic face.
I think the 1/4" Slugs look Wicked.

Bought these pickups to install in a "Jay Turser, JT134DC, Semi-Hollow, Mahogany Neck, Maple Body, Transparent Black, Flamed Maple top(think CS-336)" I love the look and feel of this guitar and thought I would try some different pickups in her. The stock pickups were just fine, I am in search of a "Darker/Deeper" sound.

In this QUEST I have installed various pickups over the last year and a half. these are the latest pair to go in.

Sound : 10
Sound:
These pickups, are to my ears, have more output than the stock humbuckers.
These are Brighter and Cleaner.
OOPS!, Wrong Direction, want "Darker/Deeper"

While these are perfectly good pickups, they do not deliver the sound I was after.
SO! Out they came and put on the parts shelf to await a new fate.

3 Months later I bought a new "Jay Turser, JT-200Pro, Symmetrical Double-cut Away (think Les Paul) Alder Body, 1/2" thick Plane Maple cap, Maple Neck, Transparent cherry Red Finish, Chrome every where.

The pickups in the JT-200Pro were decent pickups but the threads in the Baseplate were striped out(no Height adjustment) new baseplate's and they will be ready to go elsewhere (Another story).

Well!
The "Loudmouth MAX POWER LEAD" were waiting on an Axe, So in they went.

DAMN!
Chunky Mids, Searing Highs, Mellow Lows
The Mellow Lows Courtesy of the Staggered 1/4' Slugs, The chrome surround will touch the Low E String before the Slug will.

DAMN!
JT-200Pro & Loudmouth MAX POWER LEAD Bridge & Neck Pickups.
On This Guitar, Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Articulate, Clear, Clean & Damn Loud!

I have the Neck pickup Even with the top of the mounting ring.
And I still have plenty of power to monster power cords.
I started out with it kissing the strings but that brought on pure distortion. Maybe I will have to invent a flipper switch to physically move the pickup between a High and a low position.
Great Mid-Chunk

I have the Bridge pickup on the "Low E" side out about 3/8" and about 1/4" out on the "High E" side to even out the attack.
Great High-Mids & Treble.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
It's A Pickup!
Looks Great From The top.
Passable from the back, Fairly good workmanship.
I have seen worse, I have also seen better.

If the pickup does not self destruct, Who Cares.
if it does disintegrate due to workmanship, I will not buy again.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Well here we go!

I play a 1/2" of an inch off of the bridge and I play hard.
Very Hard!!!
I break Strings like a mad man.
Even with Graphtech String Savers.
But OH! The Sound I Get!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I will play at the front edge of the Bridge pickup a inch
and a half from the Bridge. Which gives me a thicker sound but loss of attack.

My pickups, living next door to the Bridge take a beating.
I have removed !BOTH! Chrome & Gold Plating.
I use Medium to Heavy Picks.
I even Use Dunlop .2mm Stainless Steel Picks when I need a Super Sharp & Clean Attack.(These bad boys will eat strings long before they will ever break) But does that stop me? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Metal covers are still with me, most minus their plating.
This is my first Plastic Faceplate.
Only Time will tell.

Since I do all of my own work, I can always replace the Faceplate.

I Buy'em
I Use'em
I Break'Em
I Own'Em

I have done a lot of buying from Guitar Fetish.
Seems to be an OK company.
I have never had a issue with their products.
NO DOA's
I will keep buying from Them.

I own several Amps both Tube and Solid State
Fender, Baseman 50, 1970 Silverface
Fender, Baseman 70, Late 70's Silverface
Fender, M-80, 212, 130W, Stereo Chorus
Crate, B150
Crate, B200
Crate, CR212
Silvertone, 1482
Sonic, 412 Closed Back Cab
Crate, Open Back 212 Cab
DIY, 212 Combo Cab, Upper Open, Lower Closed

Now depending on the sound I want determines the amp & Cab I use(If Any).

With this Guitar and these pickups I find myself using the Fender, M-80 almost all of the time with no Cab.

Great.

Just goes to show that you need to find: The Right Guitar, The Right Amp, The Right Speakers, etc...................
To get the sounds you hear in your head!
The Never Ending Quest!
