Played for about 45 years. This is one of the BEST Bargains Ever! $430 for an excellent guitar and a case! I looked at Taylors,, Martins, Breedlove -- all for a lot more dinero. This one is just as good, maybe better for a grand or more less. Go figure. These Cannucks know how to build guitars at give away prices, yet. Go get em before they raise the prices.

made in canada, '02, all solid hardwood birch, rose wood fretboard and bridge, chrome buzz feiten tuners, mahagony neck and finally the main feature: fiber glass bracing and neck, solid all around
Sound
:

full and deep, the bass strum and vibrate well while, the highs are lacking.... the sustain isnt ideal and neither is the ease of sound response which affects playability, but the sound quality is on par with other guitars such as taylor 300 series, the fiber glass rings the all solid wood a crisp and clear sound. beautiful. but its lackings make me want to go for a better guitar (another garrison/g50)
Action, Fit, & Finish
:
7
action was too high. fit was good, and finish was terrible, excessive glue over the bracing to the kerfings, but again, its all about the sound..

fiberglass bracing and neck. its an armored guitar... heavier than all wood guitars but its negligable. matter of fact the weight assure me more beneficiality, fiberglass will require less weather attention (since wood bracing is a huge weather factor) and reduce wood bending from string tensions. the neck is bolted so the guitar is basically a single unit. This IS the most durable made guitar hands down.

this guitar is the best in price bar none, tacoma and garrison are comparable but garrison is just better overall made guitar. The build quality is the benchmark of all guitars but because its not a traditional made guitar. finish may not be perfect, but the fit is all that matters and the sound.... wood quality is like none other for the price. the design is the best in the industry.... this makes it a best valued guitar...

All solid wood (canadian birch), EQ with Pre-amp ebony-looking boarder on the fretboard and nice dots (abalone?) on the fret board. It's the subtle attributes that make this guitar really nice.
Sound
:

The tone is very warm and very full. I put a new set of phosphur bronze strings on it and they almost sounded dull. I'll have to try something a lot brighter to bring out the great sound in this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The finish is very nice! The action is a little high, but the guitar is very playable.

Seems like the top got swollen pretty easily during the summer. It brought the action up to the point where the guitar was hard to play. I asked a friend who builds guitars, and he says that the birch top may be a little more sensitive than spruce. I have owned a few solid top guitars (spruce), and too much humidity has never been an issue like this. I talked to a rep at Garrison, and his impression was that birch should be more stable since it is a hardwood. All I know is that I had trouble playing the instrument in the summer and that I will have to keep a close eye on it from here on.

I have owned this guitar for close to a year and for the money, or 2-3 times what I paid, this is a great guitar. My only problem has been the humidity issue, and that is just something I will have to watch out for. All solid wood guitars need attention, and birch is no different.

My Garrison G10 was produced (in Canada) in '01, or '02...I'm not really sure.. but, I purchased it, as "new old stock", in March of '04...I imagine any readers of this review will already know most of the standard 'features'(just go to garrisonguitars.com).. so, I won't get too deep into them...My G10 (full dread, no cutaway) is solely acoustic (no pickup/electronics), with all solid wood [all Canadian Birch, except the bridge, fingerboard, and truss-rod cover (which are Rosewood)] construction [no laminates, anywhere on the body (just on the headstock, which is also Canadian Birch)]...The nut and saddle are Tusq (man-made ivory, sold by Graph-Tech), and I plan to upgrade the plastic bridge pins, to Tusq, as well...And, of course, it's equipped with the Griffith's Active Bracing, and Buzz Feiten Tuning, Systems...The nut width is 1.70 inches... ..oh ya, mine came with some, very high quality, Grover "Rotomatic" tuning machines (auto-locking)...I imagine that these were, for whatever reason, put on at the music shop.. and, not at the factory...No accesories...

...Hooorraaay.. the G10 sounds fantastic!!
Canadian Birch is a very interesting "tone wood"...I'm not very good, at describing sounds, over the internet.. but, what I'd really like to convey in this catergory is.. the guitar's big, strong presence.. it's so pronounced, and vibrant...It's not harsh or unpleasant, in any register...I purchased/sold several guitars before I found that big, resonant, acoustic sound...I still can hardly believe that I found this guitar new (old stock) for under $300...I truely believe, according to the experience of my friends and I, that this guitar is the enbodyment of value...I think the only way that I could get better sound quality and playability, is to have a custom acoustic built just for me...I can't fathom any other production acoustic guitar to be this satisfying...
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

This guitar is very solid...It's tight and comfortable in all regards...I love the bookmatched Canadian Birch (sight and sound)...As a whole, it's pretty heavy for an acoustic...I think the extra weight (most likely, due to the solid wood construction, and heavy-duty neck joint and end pin assembly) gives it a, sort-of, trustworthy trait...The thin satin finish feels very cool, and is probably one of the biggest reasons why the guitar resonates so well.. oh ya, I thought the guitar looked too nice to have a pickguard on it, so I removed it...Action feels pretty good to me...

I've been playing guitar for about 10 yrs...I've owned 6-8 guitars, and lots of amps and FX...Currently, I'm filling the rhythm position in my church's "Praise Team"...I 'tinker' a bit with, singer/songwriter, 4-track analog applications, in my free time.. the G10 is perfect for this...I'll soon be installing a K&K transducer system in it, so I can take it to church...As I stated above, the only way I could beat this guitar, would be to surpass production guitars, altogether, and go straight for a handmade custom job...

I play for my self. I play the G-10 every day, no kidding. For the last 3 years the G-10 has held up well. I don't play any coffee shops, (not yet any way) but if I ever do, the only back up I would take is another Garrison.

I have been playing now for 5 years. Self taught. I have a small Amp, can't remember the name of it cause I have not used it for a long time. When I went to upgrade from my Dean guitar, the shop had a Taylor and a Martin next to the Garrison G-10. I played all of them and Guess which one won out?? The Garrison had a better sound and felt really good in my hands. I like the action, the warm sound and the playability of it. I hope to one day buy another Garrison. I would still keep the G-10. This time it would be the best Garrison you make. Because that would be all I need. I am saving up and one day, I will have the best guitar in the world.

Features can be found on http://www.garrisonguitars.com. Canadian crafted birch beauty. Birch Back, Sides, and Top. My guitar is quite possibly the most beautifully flamed thing you've ever seen. Have you ever had your wife say "ooooh...that's so nice! You should buy that!". When you're not planning to buy a guitar? While visiting another country?
Hah..me neither. But looks are a big selling point, and sold the wife on it. For me, the value couldn't be passed up. Complete with OHSC & Fishman electronics, this solid tonewood guitar cannot be beaten for quality and price.
Garrison is an innovator, from their composite bracing system to their utilization of the Buzz Feiten tuning system, they bring you a bleeding-edge instrument that actually beats the competition. I'm not a big fan of "newfangledness", but they intelligently incorporate these technological advances to improve the product.

On purchase, the guitar was well set-up, action is a little higher than I like...but I've kept it that way. As I said before, it is a gorgeous piece of work. I get the "wow, that's the best lookin' guitar I've ever seen" comment EVERY time I play it somewhere. It also gets consistent raves from the guitarists in the room as well.
I've had the guitar for almost half a year, no faults found yet.
And when they find out how much I paid...hah!

I've been playing for 4 years, I own a Larrivee D-03, Fender Telecaster (Mex), Epiphone Les Paul (discontinued pile), and my first Takamine. The Larrivee *was* my main guitar when I bought the Garrison, but the Garrison took over that place easily.
If it were stolen I would cry, a lot.
I guess the only thing I'd change about this guitar would be colored bracing so it wasn't so thick and black...maybe find a way to check it? I can't think of any serious recommendations...honestly.

Beautiful looking solid birch-(strange but true)guitar with rosewood fretboard. Came with a fishman pick-up set-up. Also comes with case(great bonus). Nice fat sturdy neck. Heavy as hell. Extremely meaty for a cutaway. Griffiths active bracing custom to garrison I believe. Satin finish. Canadian made which seems to be the trend on denmark street in london eh. Makes me proud to be.

With a brilliant heavy deep, deep loud well rounded sound. Excellant buzzy sound with constantly renewed string. This is good for my 3 legged stool hammering folk acts. Neil Young needs this guitar. Not many guitars 500 pounds more than this one can achieve this heavy-nes. Of course its all in the taste of how you like to play, but this guitar is no wimp on sound. It is the beast of its price range.

The factory set up compliments this guitars main feature....Meat(ya know what i mean). The action is pretty high, but I don't believe fast action is what you want on this guitar. It is suited for veteran players with leather faces and fingers with little money and no band-ya know eh? Just be sure you pick the best of the retailers batch the quality of assembly varies. I searched through three of this model and found fault in the way the rosewood was fused to the birch neck, misaligned. Slightly rolled up ironed on cheap lookin picture thing around the sound hole. But if there is a perfect one it is extremely well essembled. I should imagine that alot of this guitar is hand essembled off the cuff. But thats my style.Canadian eh.- Just study it before you buy.

This guitar will take anything you can pound on it while playing live. In fact I pound it so hard that I can't stop blowin strings off it. I don't believe that there is a strong enough string to withstand its forte. You can definately depend on it,other than the string thing. I guess I get a little wound up sometimes with it. I'm happy with the raw finish and honestly don't believe anything wrong can happen to this guitar. Know theres not many acoustic axes you can say that about.

My Garrison is a 2001, Bought in 2002. All Garrisons are made in Canada. I actually opted for the finished top on my G-10, because I figured it would pay off in the long run. (I still stayed within my bugit believe it or not.) Unfinished tops are available, and cost a good deal less. This is the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen, no matter what price. Its look more than makes up for any flaws that it might have.(witch are very few.) My G-10 is a solid burch top and back, with an Indian Rose Wood neck. The neck is the only thing that I would change on the instrument, due to its mild cheep feeling. Wouldn't mind a pearl inlay around the sound hole, but for the price I payed I guess that would be dreaming.

This guitar sounds amazing! It is so bright and deep. It can fill a room easily, unpluged even! When ampted this guitar sounds even better. It does not even compair to the guitars in its price range. It is with out a doubt on a higher level. I would put it against my F series takamine.

I got my G-10E about 8 months ago. This guitar is amazing! It is made fro, solid Canadian birch. No laminates here. It sports an one of a kind one piece fiberglass bracing system that assists the tonewood with resonation. Every Garrison comes standard with the Buzz Fieden tuning system. Every guitar made should have this system as it dramatically improves intonation. Chords just ring out of this guitar because of it. My guitar came with a fishman pre-amp and saddle pickup and to top it off, a quality hardshell case all for $400 bucks. Now I leave my Taylor 514ce home safely in its case and I gig with the G-10.
Sound
:
10
The G-10 puts out tons of rich sound. The tone is alittle bottom heavy which is quite different from my Taylor 514ce. The guitar comes alive when it is plugged in. The sound is balanced and clear. My soundman loves it cause its so easy to get a great sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

The G-10 is the least expensive guitar Garrison makes. It comes un stained and the wood is unprotected. Still, the wood has beautiful and dramatic color variations which make it stand out. Everywhere I play there is always somebody coming up to me wanting to take a closer look. I like the natural feel of this guitar much more so than a sprayed finish. The action was great right out of the store but I hear from time to time that some Garrisons have neck twisting problems. I guess they have remedied the problem by using mahogany necks instead of birch. As far as the neck on my guitar....it was like it was custom made for my hand.

I gig with this guitar every week without a backup. It feels solid in my arms and has a little weight to it unlike my Taylor which seems very light and feels like it may break under hard playing. So far I don't think I even have a scratch on the thing. On grip though. I wish that Garrison would put a strap button on the neck heel. I had to do it myself.

Where else are you gonna get a solid wood guitar with the Buzz Fieden Tuning system, a Fishman pre-amp/pickup and a hardshell case for $400 that sounds and plays this good.I have been playing for 30 years. I can buy just about any guitar I want. I have a laundry list of high quality guitars from PRS to Taylor. My Garrison is a workhorse that gets the job done with no hassles.

The Garrison g10 is all birch, very attractive-looking. The fingerboard and bridge being a darker rose wood. The case is thrown in free...nice, hard-shell case with protective padding.
The guitar has a hand-made "look" to it, mainly because of the light birch and the color of the birch in the neck. Has the Buzz Feiten tuning system, which is apparent when you first pick up the thing and play. It just sounds GOOD!

I have been playing 3-finger style for 28 years...some professionally, but mostly for open mic coffee house or informal gatherings. The Garrison g10 has such resonating power, for "Travis," or other finger-style playing, it has such a deep, rich tone that the finger-picking stands alone quite well, without other guitars or instruments needed. When I get going on the thing, I can "feel" the music vibrating into my rib cage...this thing really rings out the vibes. That's one of the features of the unusual inner structure, which supposedly ties the whole thing together in a way that traditional instruments struggle to do (and only really expensive ones seem to succeed). I like playing up the neck on it, but can't resist doing more with the deep lower tones, too, because they are very rich and sustaining.

The action is very low, but not noisy at all. I first tested this guitar at a Willis Music in Cincinnati, not intending to buy at that time. I was saving for a Gibson, because of the playability and sound, but when I sat down with this one, I could easily play things very smoothly that were awkward for me on my Fenders. I don't use a pick up anymore...got sick of that wiring, etc. with my Fenders. Now I just sit in a chair close to a mic. The coffee house where I sometimes play has excellent technicians who can allow me to get a good sound playing easy with a mic properly positioned (haven't been there yet with the Garrison). I got tired of electronic junk in my guitar, so I went full acoustic this time.

The hardware looks durable to me...I'm not sure about the finish, though. I've usually had glossy guitars...this one is more satin or something. Don't know how well that will hold up. I've had another guitar with similar finish for about a year.
I'm a little bit concerned about the ability of the glass-fiber inner structure remaining glued over differences in temp, and humidity, with aging, etc., but the manufacturer says there will be no problems with it. THey give a 5-year warranty. My husband (who knows glues and woods, etc., better than I do) thinks it should be no problem.

I've played guitar for 39 years...finger picked for almost 30 of that. I knew I wanted this after sitting with it in the store for about 10 minutes...just fiddling around...suddenly, I felt I was playing a lot better (trying some Doc & Merle-type finger-style licks I'd always had to be careful with on my Fenders). The sound was unbelievable. It's very easy to play.
We were in the store with a friend, and I was just passing the time with the guitars...when I tried the Garrison, I turned to my husband and said..."PLEASE????" It was more in our price range than the Gibson I've been waiting and waiting for. He was quick to purchase a Canadian made guitar because we've been very happy with our Seagull 12-string that we bought last year.
