The best feature this guitar has is the solid wood construction, the solid cedar top, and the sound. I spent a few hours comparing the G20 to some Taylors, Washburn's, Horner's, and others, and brought the Garrisson home.

Sound : 10
Like I said above, great sound. I have been playing for over 20 years (Dead, Who, Floyd, Blues, whatever. . .) and this guitars sound fits in well. I have played some very expensive guitars and none have much on the G20

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
No frett buzz, action was a little high but I'd rather have volume than real low action. Finish looks flawless. Not quite a Taylor in this respects, but in this price range, the Taylor's, though look better, are not solid wood.

Reliability/Durability : 9
So far so good. Holds the strings in tune with hard playing (Pinball wizard did nothing to the tuning) Looks and feels very solid

Customer Support : No Opinion
The guy I bought the guitar from knows the Garrisson folks well. So from what he tells me, they are a company who wants to make their name well known and takes care of their customers so that their name does get out there. Plus, their Canadian and Canadian's are all great!!!

Overall Rating : 9
Not a Martin, but I don't need a Martin. Better than any Sigma and many Washburns, and a few lower end Taylors. If you want either a very good beginner, or a solid veteran's guitar, take a good look at Garrisson

G-20 Garrison with solid cedar top and solid birch sides and back
I have the dreadnaught model with no electronics
neck is solid mahogany with rosewood fretboard
bridge is rosewood
tuners are Garrison
includes hardshell case

Sound : 8
Very balanced sounding guitar with no boomy lows are shrill highs
This guitar is especially good for fingerstyle because of the extremely low action and medium frets.
The sound is a bit sterile not much character or and but its new AND if you are looking for an overall balanced tone this is it. Especially good as an instrument to sing with since it doesn't jump out

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar is very good quality especially if you consider the price point
The non-gloss finish could be a little smoother.
Feels ALOT like a Taylor

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is built like a tank and I expect it to outlast my more fragile guitars

Customer Support : 7
good web site

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 25 years and own 8 acoustics. For the price nothing comes close to the quality and materials
I am sure with time the sound will mature and this will turn out to be one awesome guitar. Cedar top guitars are the choice of classical instruments because of their sound projection. This guitar has very good projection.. loud without being distorted

Jizmo has got to move out of the area. His last score is this Garrison G20 12 string. Cedar and birch. Odd combination much like Jizmos dinner last night of lunch meat and and cream o wheat. These Garrisons have and unusual bracing system of some type of fiber glass which guarantees consistant vibration to the cedar top and also makes it sturdy enough to defend my squat under the bridge against other less musically inclined trolls. It has a satin finish which makes Jizmo wonder how it will handle the rain.

Sound : 8
The sound is most enjoyable. I compared it to a Martin D16gtx3/4 and a half 12 string ( which was the only Martin the guy would let Jizmo hold) They went heads up in a Stones Moonlight Mile Strum fest. I give it to the Garrison and at $350 less. Jizmo would have done some fingerpicking but recent frostbite prevented this. Very bright with more bass then expected, not the bass you'd get out of a Guild 12. Jizmo is a big Guild fan (see Jizmo's review of the Guild D50)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
What amazed Jizmo the most was the action. Jizmo judges 12 strings by how easily he can chord a first fret bar F
No problems. The bracing and Captain Buzz Feiten keep intonation static all the way up the neck. Jizmo didn't get to inspect as close as he would have liked. When the sales staff see Jizmo closely looking they tend to reach for the phone. Jizmo had to resort to deception to get this baby out of the store. Jizmos physical prowess has diminished with age and some of these sales people are starting to look like Glen Danzig/Henry Rollins clones. When I was safely out of the store, Jizmo was most impressed with the worksmanship of his new acquisition

Reliability/Durability : 9
Time will tell. I think this axe will fill Jizmos coffee can on exit 30B off I-10.

Jizmo owns lots of guitars. I love this sound

Garrison G-20-HG
This guitar was produced in Newfoundland,Canada November 2002.
This Garrison model has the solid cedar top,the back and sides are
a incredible looking solid birch of pure blonde coloring. The guitar
has 21 frets, came with Garrison tuners, which are Grovers i'm sure,
and solid rosewood fretboard and bridge. The HG-20 model comes with
the gloss finish on the top and sides, and the neck and headstock
are satin semi-gloss to me.To me a satin finish cheapens the look
of a guitar even if it is a real expensive model. The guitar came with a hardshell case which is a real nice plus for the company.

Sound : 10
I have the six string model and it blows away some of the other
well known company guitars with no effort. This is my first ever
cedar top guitar and the volume and projection are just incredible.
My music style varies from folk ,church, rock, and even lately bluegrass
and this guitar delivers.Whether i'm fingerpicking or using a pick
this instrument delivers. It has strong bass when needed and the treble
is bright and sharp when needed.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My guitar was set up pretty good from the factory the only thing i had
to do was lower the action to fit my playing style better. The fit and
finish of the guitar was excellent. The gloss finish is not overdone
on the guitar in thickness like some of the Asian built guitars and
this helps the projection of the sound. The Buzz Feiten system is a big
plus and Griffiths Active Bracing System is for real.I added Tusq
bridge pins and this also increased sound.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've only had this guitar for 5 or 6 weeks but i believe this will
hold up for many years of playing. The hardware we know is top shelf
the finish seems excellent and i do not anticipate any major problems.
I do use it for live playing and have only recieved compliments.

Customer Support : 10
When i first started to have interest in this company and their
guitars i read all the reviews on their website and Harmony-Centrals
website and i was impressed.I have also dealt with them thru e-mail
and was very impressed how quick they get back to you.It is a excellent company to deal with. The warranty is a limited 5-year
transferable.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for over 35 years. All i own now are two 12-string
guitars that is what i really enjoy playing so it is nice to have a good six string guitar again. If this guitar was lost or stolen i would
purchase the same guitar but maybe in a 12 string model.I played many
other guitars but found this to be what i really wanted.

2002 Made in Canada- Cedar top with Burch side, back, and neck. All solid wood. I give it a 5 because I'm not a sales person reviewing this and I can tell you this thing is butt ugly but it sounds amazing. It's got that Buzz Feitzen tuning system thing which is just a bridge thats cut to impoves the intonation. I don't know where they get "system" out of it. It's got a plastic frame that supports the body ,bridge, and neck. The neck is bolted on with hex screws that you can access throught the sound hole. It has a rosette that is laser cut in to the wood which is a tad tacky looking and done kina sloppy. It look as if someone used a Spirograph with laser to make it.

Sound : 7
This guitar sound very much like a high end Martin just not as loud. It has that scooped sound with sparkling high and the boomy lows. The sound was the thing that drew me to these guitars. I noticed however that the character of this guitar changes dramatically with the life strings. It will not sound anywhere nears as good with old (not dead) strings. That highs and the lows totally leave it. My grandfather has an old Gibson that sounds incredible with rusty strings on it. For that I give a 7 cause I can't afford to change strings every other day.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The factory setup was right on. Right out of the case(which is really nice) it played great. The finish is very thin it actually doesn't look like it has a finish at all which id unfortunate because the wood is not all that pretty. I looks odd because the cedar on top is darker than the burch on everything else. I noticed after 6 months of owning the thing that there is a bald spot under the sound hole. I'm curious to see what it looks like in ten years.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I would have to say that that Garrison guiatrs are probably the strongest acoustics you'll ever come across. I think it's the carbon (plastic) frame that makes it so strong. I've dropped mine a few time and there is not a scratch on it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had any trouble... yet

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 11 years. I am pretty much an electric player. I only putz around on acoustics so I didn't want to spend a whole helluva lot or else I would have got a Martin. This guitar does the job and very well I might add. If it were stolen I would replace it with the same thing. For the money I really don't think you will find a better sounding guitar.

Features : 10
I give it a 10 because it has the unique active Grifiths bracing system, and the Buzz Feiten fret system which helps keep the guitar in tune all the way up the neck. Mine has no electronics, but you can get it with the Fishman system factory installed. AND it comes with a case. (all for 399).

Sound : 10
It suits everything I play on acoustic. Its bright, clear, and warm. I've compared it to guitars that are much more expensive, such as larrivee l-05s, d-05s, and midrange taylors. This guitar is as good if not better than all of those. This is the EXACT sound I was looking for, and when I Saw the price, I was shocked. I've played 4 of these guitars now, and they all sound equally good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I didn't buy the one in the store because it was dinged, and the top was really dark brown. The one I got, however, was pristine. The action was great, the finish was flawless, and it stays in tune all the way up the neck, thanks to the Buzz Feiten tuning system.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Everything on this guitar seems great. My good friend bought the same guitar a few weeks after me, and he's been gigging with it for months now and has yet to have a problem. I haven't had it long enough to know for sure it isn't going to buckle, but I seriously doubt it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 5 years, but my pal has been playing for 15. He bought one 2 weeks after I bought mine for the same reason I did. ITs simply amazing and the price is so low its shocking.

I've compared it to martins, larrivee L-03 and L-05s, and a couple of midrange ($1500) taylors and I liked this guitar better. Definitely try one, as everyone is looking for a different sound. But to me, this is incredible. And the price!

Just bought the Garrison G-20. I bought it in Vancouver, but they are made in Newfoundland. It has a solid spruce top and canadian birch back and sides, also solid. Buzz Feiten tuners, solid east indian rosewood, fret and bridge.

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds amazing. Very full sound, more so than most other acoustics i have played. Strumming or picking. Very solid up the neck. Even if you are strumming really hard it doesnt get jumbled up. And picking sounds amazing, very very clear sound, anywhere on the neck.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action was great. A couple of the tuners could use a little tightening but other than that it is great. The finish looks great, very unique looking guitar, the birch on the back is beautiful. NIce Headstock.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It seems as though i could wear through the finish around the pick guard if i play hard enough, there is already some wear and tear going on there. but nothing that wouldnt happen on any other guitar with a good finish on it. The strap buttons are very solid and if removed have a 1/4 inch hole perfect for electronics if you get the need for those. I would be happy to use this guitar with out a back up.

Customer Support : 9
I havent had to deal with the company but from what i have heard they are really quick to respond to email, and i dont think that it would be a problem to get this guitar fixed if there is ever a need for that.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for just over two years, not long i know but i do play at least 3 hours a day, if not more. If this guitar was stolen, i would definitly buy another, it is the best guitar i have played, even next to some martins i have played, this guitar has a much more full sound to it. I was looking in to buying a seagull guitar, the artist mahogany, but i took both of these into the sound room and compaired them and the Garrison won hands down, which was quite a surprise, but the sound was much more clean, and smooth, and loud. I am very impressed. I own four other guitars, an electric, a twelve string acoutic, another six string acoustic, and a classical, and although i do love all of the other guitars, i just cant take my hand off of the Garrison, it just has such a rich sound to it.

Made in Newfoundland, Canada these guitars are all solid wood with the patented Grifiths Active Bracing System designed by Garrison owner, Chris Griffiths. The bracing is some king of plastic resin. The G-20 has birch sides and back with a cedar top for a nice warm sound. Mine has a satin finish with no electronics and all Garrison guitars have the Buzz Feinten tuning system and a 5-year warranty. A solid wood guitar that sounds this good for this price gets a 10 from me.

Sound : 9
The cedar top has a full warm sound. I'm partial to cedar which is why I was glad to see it in one of their lower-priced models. The Grifiths bracing system is built entirely in one piece of composite resin and it gives a full sound. The entire body sings when you play it. The action is close and nice to play.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
See above... there are no flaws. It's a satin finish and sounds beautiful. I haven't changed a thing from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've had it since August, 2000. It is serial number 3 in the series! It's still like new. I did take the risk and flew it from Newfoundland to Sweden this summer and it handled Heathrow Airport beautifully as checked baggage. It's durable as far as I can tell. I'll let you know in 20 years.

Customer Support : 10
I bought it directly from Griffiths in St. John's, Newfoundland when I was home this summer. They are great to deal with. Down to earth guys who have all been involved in this company's development and who are obviously very proud of their products. I have no doubt that they will be glad to help with any possible problems. Great bunch of guys! Hey they ARE Newfoundlanders!!!

There is a 5 year warranty.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I've been playing for about 12 years off and on. My gear... a Kramer Richie Sambora Custom Signature Series, Vox amp, Zoom and Danelectro effects, the Garrison, my Irish Bodhran... can't think of anything else at the moment.

I would buy this guitar again in a heartbeat. It's great and I'd reccommend it to anyone.
