Genz Benz el Diablo 60 Combo

I'd just like to chime in on some previous reviews of this amp. There are two things worth noting about this amp. First, I sincerely believe that EL34 tubes were the wrong choice as stock tubes for this amp. I switched out the stock 34s and replaced them with Svetlana 6L6s and the difference is HUGE. Just a more musical sounding amp now, and the clean channel is phenomenal. Second, this amp cannot be evaluated at bedroom volumes. It MUST be cranked. If you are looking for a bedroom amp, go get a Fender Blues Jr. or Pro Jr. This thing responds best with the master volume at or above 12:00. One other thing. I have found that this amp sounds best at low gain settings, even on the Hot channel. I set the hot gain at around 2, crank up the channel and master volume, and I can go from a Fender twin sound on the warm channel to Angus Young on the Hot channel. and for solos, just engage the Compressed button. Great amp.
