I bought this guitar in 1973 (the year it was manufactured) at the $79. price at the time - I think I remember $84. including the tax, and a cardboard case was thrown in by Sam Ash.
As other Gianni's it was made in brazil - and the only way I know what model it is is by the discription in a Vintage Guitar article. The fingerboard is probably rosewood, but the top looks like it might be ash. There is a crack in the finish on the face (not in the wood), there are pick wear marks just above the pick guard, and fingernail worn areas on the fingerboard - wear marks that I wear proudly!

The sound on this baby is amazing... deep, mellow, and with full bodied resonance. I dont know of any other nylon stringed guitar that I like besides this one. I am always amazed at the sound when others play it - you get the full effect that way, and it is a beautiful sound.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action is a little high near the body, but very easy to bar, never the less. I love my guitar, and wouldnt sell it for any amount of money. I just dont think I could find one that would replace the ease of play, and rich tones.
On the edge of the neck (that faces you when you play), down near the body of the guitar, the metal frets are a little shifted to the side so they are not flush with the edge. It doesnt hamper playing, but it would be nice to have them knocked back into place. I cant recall if this 'feature' came with the guitar or if it 'just happened.

It is an old friend, and I shall always treasure it! I have been playing guitar since 1966 - my new guitar is a Martin 12 string (which I adore!), but when I sit and noodle - and when I am playing slow, quiet sets by myself - I prefer my Gianni best.
Hardware - terrific, strap button is solid, - and I use it without a back up (it would be silly to call a Martin a backup for this guitar - it is generally the other way around). Most often, I put the Martin down when I want a good solo sound, with fancy fingering.

I got this old Giannini GS240 from my mother. Apparently, my grandfather had bought it for her when she was younger. I'm really a drummer who tinkers with whatever other instruments he can play with. I've played all kinds of acoustics; from $1800 Taylors, to $50 POS's. However, I must say that I thoroughly enjoy playing this guitar. I know it has a spruce top, and, that's about it. I've replaced the bridge pins, but, am planning on replacing them again soon.

I don't really play acoustic much. This guitar is a good reason to play, though. I've played many many guitars.......yet, this one always seems to bring me back. I generally use Ernie Ball Earthwood strings, but, I'm starting to experiment with others. Great tone, nice amount of volume, if played softly, not enough to overpower an unamplified singer.

It's getting a bit old, has a few cracks and dings in the finish, however, those are my fault. The glue that adhered the pickguard wasn't very good, cause, I've never seen this guitar with the pickguard attached. The action is awesome, "Smooth as buttah!!"

My mom recieved it when she was 13. I'm not sure if it was used or not, but, that makes it at least 33-years-old!!! Still playing like a dream. Never tried to contact Giannini, don't really care to.

If this was stolen, I'd cry, and run from my mother who would kill me! I've only seriously been playing guitar for around 9 months now, but, I've always goofed off on this one since I was a kid. Like I said I'm a drummer who can't play one instrument. I really like this guitar......who knows, maybe one day I'll show my child(scary thought) how to play with this very guitar.

My husband bought me a Giannini acoustic guitar back in Dec 1973 for Christmas. It is model GS240. Made in Sao Paulo Brazil-don't know the year. Serial #C1117. Price was $79.50, but got it on sale for $50.00.It has 14 frets. Made of Jacaranda Brazillian Rosewood, Cedro Brazillian Mahogany and close-grained spruce. Nothing came with the guitar-not even a case. I love my guitar. It is very easy to note. It has not warped at all. It has a good sound. I have never received anything from the Company as to support or service. I have received many compliments on the sound and easy noting of the guitar by other people who have played it. My mother loves it.

Been playing this guitar for 29 years. Yes, I would buy it again. In fact, I may look for one for a gift. Love how easy it is to note. I got it because it was on sale at a reasonable price for us back in 1973. I also love the size of the guitar. It's not a real big one.
