Gibson 2008 Les Paul Standard

Basic rock solid les paul. Burstbuckers, great feeling neck, very functional locking grover tuners, nice big frets, locking bridge and tail piece, strap locks, transparent cover (which I have no I dea why its there, but it looks cool :-) What more do you want ? Its a les paul.

Ok, now here's where a ton of people are going to get very vicious and claim that this guitar does not sound like a "real" les paul. Big thumbs up to Gibson for taking this direction with the standard. For the rest of you who want a heavy guitar, they wisely produced the traditional. I bought this guitar 4 weeks ago. It is the best sounding les paul I have ever played. I was never a big fan of the "big-mids" of the older standards. This guitar has warm mids with alot of depth. it jumps out on solo's. Bottom is clear and the highs are not painful. Very, very musical. There will be alot of great music recorded with these over the next few years.

Fantastic, plays amazing. the neck is like a 50's neck with a turbo charger. Nice and fast and still real solid. I love the frets. I am having a hard time going back to my medium frets. Plek is no gimmick. Play great the first time I picked it up. I do my own setup and play around alot. The action can go way down but i found I like it up a little higher than my other guitars, probably the bigger frets. The finish is a work of art. Mine is a honeyburst with a beautiful flame.

Its a les paul. World tour reliable.

I've been playing for 36 years. If this guitar were stolen I would cry like a baby. I sat down in the store for a couple of hours with this and a traditional ( and a bunch of other les pauls) and really fell in love with the tone. Its alive. I play this through my 2555 silver jubillee and 1960a. Definitely the most soulful tone I have ever had.

i purchased the new 2008 model at guitar center joliet illinois. from the second i started playing it i was amazed how nice it felt it stayed in tune and had a great set up the tone looks attention to detail were outstanding it was like playing a custom shop made guitar.i have 6 les pauls from a 79 custom to a epiphone zakk bullseye and i think they nailed it with this version the locking tuners the tone pros hardware the pickups and the new necks rock!! i am a pro guitar player and have been playing lespauls for 25 years i highly recommend this model!!
