I play this guitar straight into Marshall VS-100 Halfstack in a hardcore/punk band and this guitar is the shit.Bridge pickup is perfect for power chords and palm-muting.Neck pickup has a great clean tone, but also souds really good for fat solos. The only thing i changed was to wire the pick-ups out of phase so I could get a psuedo-Strat sound in the studio.

If it's a Gibson you can bet it will play like ass from the factory, and mine was no exception.Super light strings and ridiclously high action don't add up to comfortable ride, but with some Ernie Ball 10's, a tweak or two of the truss rod,and a couple of turns of a thumb wheel and it was all good.Silky smooth.About two before the set-up,ten afterwards.

Go to a hardcore show, any hardcore show and I'll bet you you'll see at least three Sgs.Will it stand up to live playing? This fucker will stand up to hurricane. Would I use it at a gig without a backup?I would,..If I had to,but I have an Epi Goldtop(great guitar)for that,

I never had to deal with them but I've heard stories ,both good and bad.But if they ever tried to dick me around,I'd go up to the factory(I live fifteen minutes from the Nashville) and crack some heads.

I started playing guitar when i was 13 and in two in a half years had a cheap strat copy,a MIJ Strat, and a Epi Les paul Custom.I never took it too seriously, quit, and got rid of them. Two years later I joined the band I'm in now,Waste of Space, and played(kinda) the drummers epi strat copy. After a while, and a lot of begging my Grandparents bought me the Sg,and I've loved it every since. It's going through a face lift now,but if it were stolen or lost I'd probably save up and get a SG standard.

My style is all metal, rock, and industrial/gothic. Using it with a Crate 2x8" $40 watt amp. Full, dark sound (excellent for my styles!) I am going to put in a gibson Toni Iommi hmbucker, so I'll be very diversified in sound. I love the sound.

I only have 2 small complaints. Hardly anything. The humbuckers are somewhat loose when I got it (does anyone know if thats very bad?) My other complaint is that the finish gets marked up easily(but oh well).

Everything is great. Of course I would always have a back-up guitar what with the ciolent, aggressive thrash I play. Very reliable. Use medium, jazz or regular strings ( 10, 11 or 12's).

I've been playing guitar for 2 years (I'm a teenage vocalist). I would buy maybe a Jackson or Ibanez. I wouldnt loose it. My favorite feature is that it's a great Gibson, for a nice price. It's an SG Standard, for half the price. I wish it had a Floys Rose through-body tremlo, because I use the whammy in lots of stuff.
