2006 DC Pro. 22 frets. Nicely matched CMT. *Beautiful* Trans Amber finish. Chambered body for weight reduction. 1 Tone & 1 Volume knob. Burstbucker pickups.

Sound : 10
Great sound! Can play clean stuff and can break up for harder rock. The burstbuckers don't overdrive things too much (as do e.g. dirty fingers) giving a sweeter sound. No feedback issues. Sounds gets a bit muddy when tone knob turned all the way down, but I always leave it all the way up :) so that's not an issue.
I play thru a Mesa/Boogie .50 Caliber 2x12, which is a good pairing for blues/rock.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Bought it used, so dunno about factory setup. Action is great all across the neck. No buzzing.
Pickups seem perfect - no feedback.
Top is beautifully matched (and is nicely shown thru the trans amber finish).
No flaws.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Great for performing on stage or at home.
Finish seems very durable. No pickguard, but the finish seems to resist pick scratches well.
Strap buttons were fine, but I replaced them with straplocks (as I do with all my guitars).
Dependable, reliable guitar.
My ONLY complaint is that the B string has a hard time staying in tune... gotta retune it every couple of songs. Not a show stopper - I retune before every song anyhow - but I gotta keep an eye on it.

Been playing for 30 yrs. Also own a 79 SG and an 82 Explorer2, both of which are really nice, but nowadays I *only* play my LP DC Pro because it's so damn playable. The only more-plaqable gtr I've held is a Dickie Betts goldtop (now THAT is a sweet gtr!).
If lost or stolen I'd get another exactly like it, which I can't say for my SG or Explorer.
I chose this gtr because I've been wanting a Les Paul, but I wanted something a little different that the same old LP that everyone has. I liked the look of the DC, and especially how the DC Pro's neck & body meet. I do NOT like the look of body/neck joint on the 24 fret DC Std.
If you can find one, pick it up!

2008 Gibson USA Les Paul DC Pro with Rootbeer finish. Very nice flamed maple top over a mahogany back mated to a 24.75" scale mahogany neck and 22 fret rose wood fret board. The fretboard has the gibson Signature abalone/pearloid trapezoid inlays at the normal locations (3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21). There is a single volume and tone control and a three way selector laid out similar to a PRS Santana. The guitar has chrome hardware, tune-o-matic birdge, Burstbucker Pro pickups and standard non-locking Gibson tuning machines. Overall it's a very nice guitar with almost all of the Les Paul tone, but without the Les Paul weight and with the added bonus of better upper fret access. A guitar shaped hardshell case is included. It features a white plush lining, with brown leather pull tab on the accessory compartment and silver Gibson USA silk-screen on the front of the black lizard skin textured covering material.

Sound : 10
I play primarily rock and the guitar is well suited to it, the Bursbucker Pro pickups have a clear fat tone with excellent note definition, they have a fairly bright sound. The guitar is run into a Boss DS-1 (used as an amp OD booster for a little extra grind) connected to the front of a Peavey Delta Blues 210 with a Boss CE5, Boss DD6 and MXR Phase 90 run through the effects loop on the amp. My assessments are made with the no effects running. When played through the amp's clean channel with volume and tone both cranked, the sound is clear and bright, with slight break up, as the tone is rolled off, the sound becomes warmer and takes on a slightly darker characteristic. As the volume is rolled off, the tone cleans up noticeably with less and less break up. On the dirty channel with bridge pickup fully engaged and the tone and volume cranked, the guitar creates a nice bright crunch, as the tone is rolled off, the sound again smooths out and with the tone control around 4 or 5, the sound is perfect for an early grunge tone. With the same settings ont he neck pickup, the tone takes on more bottom end with a very smooth character that is very Santana like. The guitar can do anything from jazz to rock, but metal would require different pickups, most appropriately a 500T asnd 496R if you were to stick with Gibson pickups, or if you wanted to branch out, a Duncan JB and a 59 would do nicely.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
I purchased the guitar new and right off the shelf it was set up beautifully with no buzz or dead spots to be found anywhere on the neck. The guitar plays beautifully and the upper frets can all be easily reached thanks to the double cutaway design. The top is perfectly matched and you really have to look closely to see that it's not a one piece top. The frets are very nicely fitted and crowned. New strings were put on promptly after bringing the guitar home from the shop. The only real complaint that I have is that the guitar doesn't hold tuning very well on the second string if the string is bent a lot during a lead.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar would most certainly withstand live playing so long as the second string is able to stay in tune. The hardware seems to be of excellent quality and the electronics operate quietly with no crackling or undue noise. The strap buttons are solidly attached and don't seem like they would come loose without some trying. I would gig this without a backup but for the second string tuning issue. All in all this is a great guitar that fits into my collection of guitars nicely.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I cannot comment on Gibson's customer support as I've never had to contact them.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about 12 years now and this guitar fits well into my collection which includes a 1997 PRS CE22 Maple Top with Dragon I pickups, an Ibanez Prestige RG2570E, a Schecter C7, an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, and of course this Gibson Les Paul DC Pro and an identical twin for it. That's right I have two of this exact same guitar, one stays in standard tuning, one stays in dropped D tuning. The only thing I would change on this specific guitar is a tuning machine for the second string that is less apt to slip, but on my other DC Pro, this is a non-issue, only thing is the top isn't as nice on that one.

Some say that they wish this guitar had separate volume and tone controls. I don't feel that way. I purchased this on because I have plenty of Les Paul models with 4 knob, and this one has two. It is sooo very convenient when flipping between pickups... and this guitar has Burstbucker Pros in both neck and bridge.

Sound : 10
I mainly play jazz, blues and some rock. I use this guitar with a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special 2x12 and a Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 with a variety of eminence speakers and a mod job by Jim Price at Omega Amps.
It sounds great. The Burstbucker Pro's have their own sound and for going from a bright, yet warm, clean sound to a great break up sound.... well, I love them. I have some Classic 57's and Seth Lover's in my other Gibsons, and these are just right for the variety I want.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect! The fellow I purchased this guitar from on ebay had a Plek job done on it at Peekamoose in NYC. I had the set up redone for a string gauge change and it is just perfect... low, even and flawless.
Everything about this guitar is a "10" for me.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems as durable as all the other Gibsons I have, and none have failed me in forty years.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed to contact them.

I might trade this guitar in the future as it is not a "collectable". But I would miss it. It has such a lovely slim 60's neck, great tones, and it is light (about 7 pounds). If it were stolen or lost now, I would replace it. A few years from now, I might be trading or selling it to upgrade to a custom shop model of some sort.

Beautiful AAA Curly maple top double cut Les Paul. 22 frets on a rosewood fingerboard mahogany neck and back. Tune-o-matic bridge with a burstbucker pro in the neck and the bridge. Only one volume and one tone pot and a three way selector. Other than the lack of individual tone a volume pots this guitar is cherry.

Sound : 10
This guitar sounds like a dream. Using the neck pickup and volume half way nice clean jazzy sounds. Add a little volume you get a nice crunch real blusey feel. The bridge setting gives a dirty southern sound. I am putting it through a seymour duncan twin tube preamp --> BBE boosta grande --> Tone 6 Verbzilla --> BBE Sonic stomp --> Epi valve junior head (Bitmo mods)--> custom cabinet (I made this myself) with a eminence speaker.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Playable right out of the box pickups and set up were perfect. The finish gets a little sticky after playing for a while requiring a polishing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Guitar is built like a tank would use it as my only guitar in a gig. Dependable and sweet!!

Customer Support : 10
Gibson customer support has always done me well!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for several years now and I own several guitars. This guitar is the bomb nicer than the comperable PRS ( overrated guitars in my opinion). This blows all of my other guitars out of the water. If lost or stolen I would beat someone and then replace it with the same guitar. Buy this guitar!!

Made March or 2006
22 Frets, absolutely stunning root beer finish with very well matched flame maple top. Mahogany body and neck. 1 volume, 1 tone, toggle is below the bridge

Slim 60s taper neck (not bound), tune-a-matic bridge (all hardware is chrome), Burstbucker Pro pups in neck and bridge, green pearloid inlays, vintage style tuners and flower pot inlay on headstock.

Came with Gibson hardsheel

Sound : 8
Fat tone, pups are little less output than I like but have a nice tone.

Tone control has broad range and the only thing I don't like is not having 2 volume controls

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
As I mentioned above, this guitar theoretically nice enough to be on the Gibson catalog cover, the flame is so well matched that in places it looks like there is one peice of wood.

Frets were crowned perfectly, fit and finish at the neck body joint is fantastic

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's heavy enough, everything works so far, it's a Gibson, Page still plays one made in 1959, I would say that it's realiable.

Been playing for over 20 years, metal and blues primarily. I would be pretty sad if this guitar were lost or stolen. It's a fantastic instrument and my birthday present to myself this year, great creamy tone out of the neck position and the neck itself lends nicely to quick runs. I have a few guitars, this one is my second Les Paul, the first being a Deluxe from '76 and this plays much better than that. I have a vintage 80s RG550 with Duncans that is for shredding, no real comparison as that's an alder body and a floating trem.

Playing both through a Damage Control Demonizer into a Traynor WR40 which kicks rump, wicked metal tone, all tube.

Double cutaway 2 '57 humbuckers, (translucent black) flame top, 1 vol, 1 tone, 24 fret, straight string pull headstock, nickle hardware.

Sound : 8
Good LP sound. I A/B'd it with my early '70s LP Deluxe (mini-hums) playing the same part on 2 different tracks (ADAT). Very little difference. The LP Pro had slightly more mids, less bottom end. Excellent response when rolling off tone or volume (no muddiness). This guitar yields the classic LP sound. Does not provide the variation that 2 vol/2 tone knobs provide. Many prefer the simple layout. Although it looks nicer, I prefer the 2/2 knob layout.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This was a demo model at Guitar Center (Las Vegas). After cleaning and restringing, it remained almost perfectly intonated. No fret buzz or flat spots. I was amazed. Finish was flawless. Fretwork was very good, though I've seen better.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I've experienced some gloss dulling on my 70s LP Deluxe over the years. Don't know if this is characteristic of Gibson or if they've changed their formula. After 4 months with the DC Pro, things still shine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No data. Haven't needed customer support.

Playing since 1968. Have LP Deluxe, '64 SG Jr., Ibanez S540, Taylor 614; Martin D12-1; Takamine CD132SC classical; Ovation 1612. Play through Crate tube combo, POD preamp.

One of the main reasons for choosing the DC Pro was the price ($1300 new). A Custom Shop Gibson in excellent shape was too hard to pass up. I probably would have looked into a PRS otherwise. All in all, however, this is a great guitar for lower price than a LP DC Standard. No regrets at all.
