Came to me with no pickup, but was routed for one odd sized single coil. Tone and volume, crap Steinberger trem that didn't work as the spring tension screw had stripped, Grovers and yellow paint until half way up the nech then black. Sounds awful, but came with a lightweight mahogany body and neck and a Gibson HB-L pickup out ofan '89 SG Standard for 50 pounds (100 bucks). Was fitted out with an adjustable Schaller wrapover bridge and the HB-L was routed in and away we go.

Never seen another one in the UK.

Ultimate punk guitar, lightweight and solid with great one trick sound, only ever played flat out. I have recently fitted it with a coil tap and a treble bleed and it will now do a bit more than just roar on 10.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Trem was junk, guy I bought it off paid good money for this new and it just fell to pieces. The body is rock solid though, Les Paul shaped, but very thin body, stable neck joint but only one pickup, I'd check the joint on a twin pickup model as there would not be much wood in this area.

Reliability/Durability : 8
Before mods, 2. After mods I'd gig anywhere with this, and it has had quite a bit of action in its time.

One of my favorites, and I've got loads, another "proper" Les Paul, three Gordon Smiths, two '60s Hofners, two quality Yamahas, a '70s Hagstrom, an Explorer and a Matsumoku Aria.

This guitar is very unusual for what it is I've seen a few of them through the years but I do know they made this guitar for 2 years. It's as as thin as an SG and looks like a "Les Paul." I got back in 1988 and that is the year it was made. It has Two very small mini buckers that look like EMG's (Not Active) and a coil tap switch. It is bright yellow in color with black hardware and an ebony fingerboard. It has the pearl Gibson inlay on the head stock and a dot neck. It rips and sounds absolutely amazing. The top is carved and solid. I think they used Steinberger parts with some of these because I've seen some with there transtrim system. Very comfortable neck on this guitar.

It's a great rock and blues guitar. It has the classic Gibson sound. Sounds great in anything I've plugged it into. The pick-ups on this thing will blow your mind. It is a bit noisy, but any P90 sounding pick-up has that a little. It does get a nice strat sound when the coil tap is used. For my style it's perfect. I gig with it, teach with it. My students call it "OLD YELLER." This was the very first Gibson I ever bought and I love. It does have a remarkable story that I'll tell you as we get going.

This guitar is twenty years old and I've had a few things done to it. Fret dressing, a new bone nut and replaced a toggle switch thats about it. There is some finish on the guitar but mostly fading and cracking a bit. Cool vibe though. No flaws that I could see on this guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Great live guitar. I would depend on this guitar at gig without a back-up (Just kidding) It's very dependable!! I still take a back-up. You never know.

Don't know. I haven't had to use them.

Now the Story. Like I said I got the guitar in 1988 and loved it. Randy Rhoads - Jimmy Page all my favorite players played them. So I was in heaven. In 1992 I got bit by the SRV bug and wanted to play blues and it changed me completley as it did many people. So I thought I've got to have a strat. My wife begged me not to trade "OLD YELLER," and stupidly I did. Long story short it was the one that I wish I had back!!! Well through the years and many visits to ebay latter I found one this was 2005 year. Same color same year. So my darling wife hide from me that she bid on the guitar. We didn't get it. I was bummed out. Then right after Christmas my Mom calls me and tells me an old bass player that I used to play with called and said he thought he found a guitar that used to be mine. "COULD IT BE?" Well glory to God it was the original. It still had my name on the case, after 14 years "OLD YELLER" came home. It was an incredible blessing. I bought back for $400.00
