2006 Custom Shop Les Paul/SG '62 Reissue VOS, offered only through Guitar Center. SG style body with deep cutaways, heritage cherry finish, acrylic inlays, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with medium frets, lightweight aluminum stop tailpiece, uneven wound '57 Classic humbucker pickups, standard Gibson control layout with premium electronics and bumlebee capacitors, thin holly headstock inlay, vintage correct headstock angle and well, vintage correct everything. Custom Shop aged finish and hardware. Includes CS case with candy.

Sound : 10
Absolutely immense vintage Gibson solidbody tone. No more needs to be said if you're reading this and are familiar with premium guitar sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Guitar seems to have been set up with action a little high, but this is nothing out of the ordinary. Lowered action with no fretbuzz, frets leveled excellently. Pickups needed adjusted but again not something out of the ordinary. The bridge is the vintage ABR-1 style with a saddle retainer clip that buzzes a bit in certain vibrational frequencies, but hey, you're not going to hear it played through an amp anyway. Finish was a bit worn and hardware a little oxidized but its supposed to be!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm certain this guitar will withstand live playing. The neck/body joint was beefed up on Les Paul/SGs back in '62 and this one demonstrates that, as well as having a thicker neck than, say, a '61 Reissue LP/SG. The finish is made to further age as its used and like all guitars will look great as long as you take care of it. I would not use this or any guitar live without a backup, but my replacement would have to loaded with some pretty serious gear to come even close to the sounds this thing can crank out.

Customer Support : 9
Since owning a few Gibson in my life I can say that their customer service has been so-so, and I haven't been impressed with their "authorized service techs." Good answers to questions can be had by calling Gibson directly, but (believe it or not) repairs are best left to someone reputable in your area instead of going through the impossible headache of a warranty claim.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 15 years now in bands and hobby, and own a host of other Gibsons as well as two Fenders. Play through a Marshall Bluesbreaker with Dunlop wah and various lesser effects. I would buy this guitar again if it were stolen, if one could be located! This is easily the best SG I've owned and is equal in tone and versatility to just about anything I've ever played. Compare to any Custom Shop product of any major guitar maker. An investment quality tone machine and one hell of a value if you can find a Guitar Center that still has one in stock, or one on the 'bay.

If you own one of these or another vintage correct reissue please don't hesitate to email me.
