Canadian made, I'm not sure what year this one is, because I got it used on ebay. It's very lightweight, probably a basswood body like my Godin Artisan ST. The pickups are S-S-H with a 5 way switch. It has locking tuners and a Schaller tremolo with roller saddles. The neck is one piece maple with a 23&3/4 scale neck. The pickups are Godin. This is my second Godin to back up my Artisan, which I'll never part with. In my opinion, Godin is the most underrated guitar available today. That's why I got another Godin. The intonation on the neck and the action are superb. It has one volume, one tone, and a 5 way switch

Sound : 10
I play jazz on a couple of very expensive archtops, but this one covers blues, r'n b and rock nicely. I play it through a couple of Laney amps. The sound is clean, it handles effects pedals very nicely. The bridge single coil has a remarkably even sound, and it's set up so that the volume kicks up whenever I switch to the bridge humbucker. The 2nd and 4th positions on the 5 way switch give me enough cluck for rhythmn playing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
It was used, and the setup by the previous owner was just awful. I think if it had been set up properly, he/she never would have sold it. The neck is fantastic (like my other Godin). All the parts are excellent. It does have Schaller locking tuners and a Schaller bridge. I'll install a tremsetter to increase the sustain. The intonation is very good, and will be better when I put an Earvana nut on it. All my guitars have been converted.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This will back up my other Godin. I will never, ever play a rock or blues gig without a backup guitar. I'm sure it'll last because I baby my guitars. My other Godin had been bulletproof, but the previous backup has not.

I have a problem. I've tried to e-mail Godin to get a new pickguard. The guitar was obviously left in a hot car in the Texas sun, and the pickguard is warped. Godin needs to get their act together here. The email address on the website would not accept my e-mails. Years ago, when I had a minor problem with my Artisan, I actually got a call from the VP. I don't expect that now, just a reliable source for replacement parts.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 35 years. I think Godins are the best buy, and most underrated solid body guitars on the market. I like them so much that I sold my Les Paul and leave my Strat in the closet. My 2 Godins play better. I'll commit suicide if my Artisan gets stolen, and would buy another G Thousand in a heartbeat. This is a fabulous guitar for a stupidly low price. I just wish that I could have gotten it in sunburst like all my other guitars.

I got this for a graduation present in... shoot... 1995 or 1996??? 24 fret, finished Maple body (heavy and bassy!!!), one universal volume and one universal tone, 5-way selector, 2 single coil Godin and 1 double coil Godin pickup, can't remember fretboard wood (it's softwood a guy told me?!?), diver bridge (I don't know technical names... if you don't know what I mean, you don't play enough)

Sound : 10
I wouldn't let this thing go for anything. I'm a guitar teacher, and this thing does whatever I want it to do. It's been through three bands, two of which were metal, so the full, bassy sound from the maple was a bonus. Always a rich and full tone. Very versatile sound with the 3 pickups and tone knob, lots of variety. Absolutely love it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I've had to do regular routine maintenence on this one, which is a sinch because of the non-idiot proof design. No useless covers or casings, just open, clean, close. Never had a problem with the pickups. The fretboard started to buzz a bit in the last few years, I just keep raising the action... it's not that bad. Eventually it'll need some adjustments, maybe a new fret or two... and come to think of it, I did have to file some of the bridge parts initially, the strings were breaking there...

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a musicians guitar. It'll take whatever you have to throw at it, and I couldn't imagine any hardware problems in the near future. No finish issues, solid buttons (not like I throw it around, but it's never dropped due to them), VERY dependable. I've done plenty of gigs with this baby without a care in the world.

I've been playing for fifteen years and teaching for four. This guitar gets used everyday, plugged through my little Peavey Rage 158's and it sounds as good as the day I got it. It's seen plenty of stage time with my Peavey 5150 Stack too. I chose this one over a Samick because I didn't want the floating bridge... I had only been playing for a few years and I wanted something versatile. This one just felt right, and the tone is amazing. If this was ever lost or stolen, I'd hunt the bastard down... it's like older cars, they just don't make 'em like this anymore, and if you see one used, GRAB IT!!!

24 fret design. Volume and tone control. Godin pickups two singles and a humbucker in the brdge position.5-way selector swich. The finish is a Pearl Black very nice with an ivory and white pearl marblized pick guard. All hardware is gold chrome. A smart looking design. The neck is very thin and delightfully user friendly.

Sound : 8
Using a Marshall lead 100 halfstack with this guitar I find is a good combination. It has rich lows and bright highs. My own style tends to lean towards loud unruly blues, and this guitar has measured up for the past 6 years to my sometimes aggressive playing manner.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I had to adjust the action a little lower than the factory setting but I found it to be an easy task once I got it home the fully adjustable bridge made it very easy. My Neck position single coil pick-up wasn't seated properly when I got it but it was quickly remedied with the adjustment screws. No body flaws were found.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This is where I have a few problems with this guitar. After 6 years of playing I have had to get a new selector switch for my pickups and I am currently trying to get new tuning keys as the black plastic ones have come apart in my hands over the last couple weeks. I believe the tuning keys could have been made with nice metal tuning keys and a higher quality selector switch.

Customer Support : 4
Trying to get tuning keys is not fun. Godin's web site has no parts list or ordering forum available to their customers. Music stores only carry the entire machine heads and the keys are usually too big. Also to buy the machine heads is very expensive and I'm not interested in changing them because the locking ones I have are great. I give Godin a low mark on customer support also because MY GUITAR IS NOT ON THEIR WEB SITE.

Overall Rating : 10
Love this guitar. Can't believe I can't find an article or anything about it. I would definitly use Godin again for their nice products and their finite detail to tones and making their guitars comfortable and a pleasure to play.

this is a follow-up to my previous review...i neglected to include the one glaring deficinecy with this guitar, and this is nearly the only complaint that i have...it is, nonetheless, serious enough to warrant a second posting...there are no position dots along the top edge of the fretboard...i have never seen a guitar that lacked them, and this is a major omission on godins' part...i stil like the guitar, but i am perplexed by this decision to leave these off.....thus, i lower my overall rating for this instrument to an 8.5

really great sound, and excellent tonal variations

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
this is why i bought it...i'd heard the name godin, and knew they were well respected, but had never played one...when i saw it, i tired it...as soon as the neck hit my hand, i know i had to have it...slim and sweet, low and fast...perfect...it's a short scale, so you have to be gentle, but it's worth it....

Reliability/Durability : 9
solid and well made, but always have a backup.....

eh?

Overall Rating : 10
it's a little unique...the body is slighlty reminiscent of a fender jaguar, but not really...it is its' own beast...if you're not hung up on appearances, this is a fantastic value
