Features : 9
Purchased in 2009. Comes with a really nice flamed maple top with a sort of heritage cherry sunburst. Fixed bridge and a pair a Seymour Duncan ceramic P90's. Body style is somewhere around a Les Paul/Telecaster. The body is mahogany (and quite dense - looks like 3 or 4 pieces glued together.

Giving it 9 because it doesnt have extra gadgets like coil taps and a trem and so on - but who wants that on this style of guitar anyway?

The bridge has a whopping big solid metal block submerged into the wood to anchor the strings

Sound : 10
I tend to play classic rock/bluesy/folky stuff and this guitar is a very versatile contender in all of these genres. The original pickups sounded OK but as I make my own pickups, I dropped a couple of Alnico P90's wound to the traditional spcification in - A5 at the bridge and A2 at the neck. Nothing wrong with the Seymours, I just wanted something with more chime and clarity - Alnico wins over ceramics in this respect in my opinion.

The guitar itself is very lively, sustains really well and despite the single coils is very quiet (the control cavity is screened with shielding paint as standard).

Bridge pickup can spit and bite when driven, cleans up great for articulate airy near acoustic sounds, neck pickup fuller but very detailed and the two together have a very open sound with a bit of single coil "quack" in the mix.

Great sounding guitar - (the quality construction is a major factor) and really versatile. Sounds a damn site better than a P90 equiped SG that I once owned and 1/3rd of the price! And more solid.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The neck is relatively wide but it really suits me and is so easy to play (I tend to go for wider necks anyway). Nice flattish radius (16"?), no string cholking and effortless bends.

Lowered the action to taste, no rattles at all. Frets immaculately finished.

The wood finishing is top notch. Gloss on the body, satin neck.

Balances perfectly, not too heavy, comforable and sits in just the right playing position for me when strapped on.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Only one complaint - the pickup selector switch. Just could not rely on getting the bridge pickup every time and in the end gave up and fitted a Oak Grigsby 3 way switch.

Otherwise built like a tank. I've owned far more expensive guitars than this that would give up or snap first.

Still give it a 10 because the switch is just an unfortunate niggle.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Can't imagine that I'd have to bother them.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing for over 30 years and comparing this to all the guitars that I've owned over this time, the Godin is is an excellent instrument that contends easily with the expensive American names.

The price tag is irrelevent; this is a simply a seriously good guitar. Godin have obviously put a lot of thought into this instrument because so many individual things are right and work so well together.

I've got the early 00's 24 fret model. Dark gold flake. Black hardware. Simple simple simple. That is not a bad thing. Electronically speaking it's a tele (2xpups, 3way, vol + tone pots). Except the pickups are p90s.

The paint on it appears to be indestructible. I paw away at it week after week with my nails and blue tortex, and it cleans right up with no visible wear.

The knobs are those little heavily knurled guys. Wish they had numbers sometimes, but great for pinkie volume swells and quick adjusts from chordal to single note playing.

Sound : 10
I've been looking for a second guitar that sounds like this one. It doesn't exist. Running through a Dr. Z Mazerati Sr. combo is just ridiculous. Detail, metal, wood, how old your strings are, what angle the pick was at, what you had for lunch, you can hear it all. I played this guitar in a two piece band with a drummer and with a little boost at the amp for some bass, you didn't feel like it was missing anything.

I've played a couple others, and I do have this to say - don't waste this guitar or the pickups on 9's. Beef up on the strings and you will be massively rewarded in tone. And controllable feedback. And using the volume knob as your overdrive. Almost every time we play out a couple guitarist come up and compliment my sound... which is not all that common for an indie band.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Had great setup when I bought it for 10s.

My favorite thing other than the sound of the guitar is how low to the body the strings are. It's not an inch off the body like some Les Pauls, it's just less than a centimeter. Just feels tight, close.

I run the action a tad high to allow absolutely abusive dynamics. The beast can take it!

Oh, and lastly, most guitars have subtle intonation errors, nut/zero fret problems, etc. I can run my Petersen up and down this thing and be amazed at the results, it's the most in tune guitar I've ever owned.

Reliability/Durability : 9
My tone pot crackles a tad. My output jack is a bit loose. I suppose I should fix them. *shrug* Other than that it's a tank, no signs of degradation in spite of this being my main guitar in two rehearsals per week plus shows since I bought it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need, it's a guitar.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 19 years. I use small tube combos (mostly made by Dr. Z but I keep a Yamaha T-100 and a Seymour Duncan combo around).

I just bought another very similar 24 fret Godin (except it has humbuckers and someone swapped the tuners out) as a home guitar. Nice to have the same feel at home and at the studio.

I'm one of those guys who can spend all day in a guitar store just playing everything there. At first I go by brand, or looks. This guitar had neither. But since I've owned it, no Gibson LP comes close. I've played one Jr and an SG that have the same sorta vibe... and both were vintage and spendy. This is my all around guitar. I occasionally dust off my Silvertone or Tele Reissue if the tune calls for a thinner more biting tone, but this thing is the best piece I've got (and also one of the cheapest!). Great sound, great playability, dense but not overwhelmingly heavy, reliable.

Godin should re-release the 24 fret versions of this.

Features : 10
Features adequately described elsewhere. Key here is the SIMPLICITY of the design and features - 2 pickups; three-position switch; one tone and one volume control. A really cool, basic "hot rod".

If you're looking for something that'll give you "option anxiety", this ain't it. I give it a '10' for basic, simple goodness.

Nice freebie: more-than-decent gig bag.

Sound : 10
Add it up: Mahogany body and neck + rosewood fingerboard + Seymour Duncan P90's = rude-boy dirt, grit, earthiness and honk.

"Delicate", "round" and "sweet" are NOT part of the vocabulary of this bad boy.

Played through either my (new) Fender Super Champ XD or my (old, slightly modified) Roland Bolt 60, sound is pure dirty heaven.

I'm not a believer in the "one guitar that does it all" concept. I don't believe such a guitar exists, no matter how many switches it has. Also, such a guitar would eliminate the reason to have a lot of fun, special-purpose guitars.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
How can you really complain about stuff like string gauges or action set too high (or low)? Everyone's different. I changed the strings to 11-53's and raised the action a tad. Started smiling even bigger.

Straight neck. Clean frets. Finish without blemishes. Nice touch - wooden truss rod adjustment cover plate.

Read some complaints about the tuners. Can't find anything wrong with them personally.

Body SEEMS to be a single piece of mahogany (if not, I sure can't find the seam); no binding or trim.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Hey, it's a guitar, not an SUV - you take care of it, it'll take care of you.

That said, it feels very solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No basis for an opinion.

Overall Rating : 10
Apart from the other good stuff above, the thing that stands out for me, maybe above EVERYTHING else, is how comfortable this thing is to play, especially standing up.

It's beautifully balanced. The short-scale length and overall dimensions make it feel like my old Miata sports car. Nothing; Strat, LP or anything else just "fits" so damn good. Feels like a tailor-made suit.

This body style is aesthetically pleasing, functional and comfortable. I'm getting more of it. Anyone want to buy a couple of Telecasters, a Strat and LP?

Guitars like this might make you feel stupid for spending more than $1000 on one.

I have the older Godin p90. The model i own dosent have the nicer looking body, its just a plain dark brown finish rather than the quilted body or whatever it is they make them off now. So if the wood is different im not sure but im 99% sure their the same.

I dont think this guitar is packed with features but that dosent make it a bad guitar, sometimes all you need is a simple but beautiful sounding guitar rather than a bunch of gimmicks.

Sound : 10
I wont lie, this guitar had to grow on me. My parents bought it for my birthday when i was 18. So have had it 3 years now. After playing with it though it started to really suit my tastes, its very easy to play, i love how the bridge is set up and the pickups are deep down inside the body really makes for nice action. It dosent sound as great for lead guitar as my strat does but all in all its a BETTER GUITAR and better sounding than my much more expensive strat.

FAVORITE POINT: The rolling lows on this guitar is amazing it has such a beautiful tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Frankly one of the things that i didnt like about this guitar was it wasnt fancy looking, so naturally as a young player i didnt like that ive now matured and bit and dont mind it (mine is the older model without flame or quilt top, just a dark brown, completely flat bodied guitar). HOWEVER the newer Godin p90's are now very beautiful, if they play anything like mine which is effortless, Then you shouldent hesitate to buy one, go to your local store try a few out and pick your favorite i promise its a solid quality guitar.

only thing that might bother you... its heavy, like a les paul style heavy.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Its solid, 3 years strong so far, no problems. Replace the strings every now and then and have a blast.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Ive never had to call them so i honestly cant say.

Overall Rating : 10
If your looking for a guitar with alot of bang for buck. Dont hesitate to buy. Heck if your looking for at guitars that are much more expensive PLEASE TRY THESE OUT FIRST and then compare to guitars that are more expensive. I think youll find this is a well made guitar.

this guitar was made i think in canada,it has a mahogany body and neck nice semi closs finish 2 duncan sp3 p90s in it came with gig bag. also sperzel type strap locks but i didnt get the male are the part that went on the strap. one volume and tone control. which i rate high cause i like it simple.

Sound : 9
i like it real well playing blues and southern rock and some country. which what i had bought it for. and i was playing it on a peavey delta blues 210 tube amp and it was cool but it just would not clean up for me aand i almost got rid of it. and i didnt want to because it played well the neck was just my style, but just would not stay clean so i was going to change pickups. but then i played it on my dean markley signature 120 all tube amp 120 watts, an amp like clapton i seen use and it was awesome. on the higher wattage tube amps because of the headroom plus the 6L6 tubes the godin and the duncan sp90s came alive clean think of les paul mary ford jazz clean, i love it. i keep the guitar just for that amp to play clean. it a good guitar cheaper then a gibson if you like p90 guitar i suggest trying this out. i use godin, zion strat with emgs, a american 64 fender tele, i have a gibson es335 and a usa fender p-bass this guitar is as good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
it was decent did slight adjustment on the neck and that was it, finish was very good every thing was great.

Reliability/Durability : 9
everything on this guitar is made wel and should last with proper care. but iam very picky and i gig 2to3 times a month. the only reason i take a back up not because iam worried about the guitar in case i break a string.

never had to deal with them, never had a problem.

As previous reviews. Natural mahogany finish. 2 x Seymour Duncan P90 pups. Tuners work great. Came with very nice Godin semi soft case.

Sound : 9
I go from pop to rock. Sound is quite bright which is great for jangly rhythm. Used with a Matamp 1224 (valve) and Fender Stage lead (tranny) it sounds excellent. Very cutting but not as harsh as a Telecaster. Wouldn't choose it for blues/metal but you could probably make it work with a bit of knob twiddling. Very quiet guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Very solidly built. Good weight and balance. Excellent finish. I bought it used off eBay and with a bit of cleaning up and adjustment, I've got an excellent guitar. Action is low with no fret buzz. Strings very easy to bend with no choking. Natural satin finish is also classy.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Would trust this guitar implicitly. Very confident that it will last for years.

Lovely guitar. looks a bit conservative for some I would guess, but a very good guitar. If this one went missing, I would get another.

The Godin SP90 is a great looking guitar with through the body stringing, Seymour Duncan P90 pickups, passive electronics, a maple neck, and a gorgeous finish. Godin parts are made in Montreal, Canada and shipped for assembly to the US. The tuners are closed with a 3 and 3 configuration. The body is Les Paul style. Godin guitars generously come with a guitar case, and strap mounts that are compatible with locking tuner mechanisms (although they don't include the male parts that go on the straps).

Having a rear-mounted bridge looks really cool. One drawback I will mention about re-stringing: you thread new strings through the back of the guitar. Once in the back, the end of the string must be aimed RIGHT through the centre of the hole at the front of the guitar, otherwise it won't make it through the guitar (it gets stuck in the middle). This gives restringing a "threading the needle" frustration. Multiply that by 6 strings, and it gets annoying quickly. Further, since the string must be aimed perfectly in the centre, forget about re-threading a previously-used guitar string. If the end of the string is bent, it makes re-stringing close to impossible.

Sound : 2
I don't know whether it is Godin, the shop I bought the guitar at, or me, but there was a buzz in my guitar that nobody could get rid of. Getting tired of the loose-change sounds coming through my amp, I'm returning it today. I brought it in for adjustment, and the buzz never went away. The tech actually made it worse. I bought this guitar to have a decent sound for recording. I believe I just ended up with a lemon. Even when I set the action VERY high and let the tension rod out, I still got buzz. I'm very disappointed because it's a great looking guitar and has all the features I like. The pickups are nice too. The neck appears to be warped.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
The factory settings had the neck straight flat. When I capo'd the first fret and fretted the 14th, the strings were all flush down on the neck with no play. This led to lots of buzzing. Tinkering didn't fix the problem, nor did taking it in to the shop. I am by enlarge an accoustic guitar player and have an aggressive strum; however, I lent the guitar to my friend who's been playing electric for 15 years and he said the buzz would drive him crazy. I don't mean to bash Godin here - the guitar looks well made. I think I just bought a lemon.

Reliability/Durability : 8
The guitar is a bit heavy and sturdy. It looks like it would have no problem gigging. Add strap locks to your budget and you're in business.

Customer Support : 6
I didn't deal with Godin. The store I'm dealing with told me that a certain amount of buzz for electrics is normal. I hate when service people tell you there's nothing wrong with your product ("It's supposed to do that"). No it isn't, it sounds like a bumble bee!

Overall Rating : 3
I've been playing guitar for over 15 years, and have 3 other guitars. I tried out a Godin Exit22 before this one and had a problem with one of the tuners, but no buzz. I wrote a scathing review for the Music Research Works EGJ24 but in retrospect after fixing all its problems, it plays better than the Godin I bought (better action, no buzzing). However, it's very likely that I just bought a lemon, it happens. Other people have had very good things to say about their SP90. Notwithstanding, mine's going back to the store.

I play rock/blues/contemporary Christian worship. Use Pod X3 live through PA or through Laney LC15R (small but classic valve amp).

A range of tones - classic rock, rock and roll, jazz - all warm and pure but it can put out a beautiful crunch. Roll off the volume for smooth, creamy tones. But it won't get anywhere close to a strat sound. P90s are noisy near the amp/speakers (as expected).

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
No flaws, very well set up, good action, looks beautiful (I think). Access higher up the neck is a little limited, so I don't think it will suit those who like loads of upper fret noodling.

Reliability/Durability : 10
All high quality parts and manufacture. No reliability issues after two years.

Been playing 35 years. Also have Tele Thinline (f-hole with humbuckers).

I wanted something with P90s to supplement the humbuckered Tele. Tried Les Paul studio types (compared the Gibson with the Tokais - thought the Gibson was superior to the Korean Tokai but inferior to the Japanese Tokai). But these were all about ??700, so I looked elsewhere and came across the Godin - which in my opinion is the best of the lot and half the price. Amazing.

I love playing this guitar and enjoy handling it every time I pick it up. The only limitation is the (relatively) limited access to the very highest frets. If lost I would certainly replace it. Well done Godin.

Mine is the dark gold with the p-90s.I paid about $400 for it used. I wanted this guitar for the pickups and the color. I am very happy with both. I wanted a guitar for some gigs so I wouldnt have to bring my les paul custom or my custom shop tele. Now, all I bring is my Godin. I love this guitar. You can get the sweetest cleans to the most rockin tones from this guitar. It is not a metal axe. It was made to be played through a tube amp. It just sings out with every note.

Sound : 10
I love the short neck and the width of the neck. It fits like a glove. I used to have an old melody maker whose neck felt alot like this one. The body really resonates with the strings too. kind of like a tele. The tones from the p 90s are sharp and crisp with lots of bite, but not over-bearing. To me they are perfect.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Even though I got mine used, it didnt need anything at all. Godins are known for their quality guitars. I knew it would be a great guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 10
They dont make enough gold sparkle guitars. Im already looking for a gold lg with the humbuckers.

Customer Support : 10
never had a problem. I CALLED them once to find out which Seymour Duncan P-90 was used in the bridge position ( since there is about 10 different ones) because the previous owner swapped it out.????????????. I talked to a live person who gave me the model number.

I am sold on Godin guitars. This coming from somebody who wouldnt even pick up a guitar unless it was a gibson or fender.

Godin LG SP90
Just as so abundantly, previously described.

Sound : 10
I've played classic rock & blues for 20 years. I've owned this guitar for 2 years and have put it thru it's paces on several different amps (all tube; Hiwatt DR100, Peavey valve king, Fender vibrochamp, Epiphone valve junior) and although the tone varies with each different amp, this guitar with it's P90's has the best overall tone I've ever heard. And yes, I've played strats, teles and LP's.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar is set up perfectly and the craftmanship is immpecible.
Although the neck is a bolt on, I find the finely crafted heel makes the upper register frets even more accessible (all 24 of them), than any other guitar I've played. The body thru bridge also gives this guitar as much sustain as any neck thru design I've played.
The overall impression of this guitar is that of pure Class, and demands respect.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is definitely a well crafted, dependable, durable machine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed, but hear Godin is excellent.

I agree 100% with 2 previous people. Don't feel like wasting time.
Beautiful guitar. I love it!!

Sound : 10
I love the sound from these seymour Duncan sp-90 pups. High output!
Mountain- Mississippi Queen. Jethro Tull- Aqualung. Early Carlos Santana- Black Magic Woman, Soul Sacrifice, Oye Como Va, Get Ready.
This Godin nails this sound perfectly in my humble opinion.
These pups are Seymour Duncan SP90-3 Custom Soapbar pups. The website says each pup has 2 large ceramic magnets for x-tra output. They do scream, that's way I lowered mine to 1/4" below strings.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Dito the previous 2 reviews. Rock solid.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Dito previous 2 reviews. It's not a lightwieght and it's not a lard. It has a nice heft to it. I like that. Feels solid.

Had the guitar for 6 mos. No problems. No dealings with the company.
I completely trust Chris and Bruce at Mainely Music. In the past 6 yrs. or so I've gone to them for ALL my musical needs and these guys are A-1!! I would go to them before contacting any of the guitar companys.

Overall Rating : 10
What was said in the 2 previous reviews says it all for me. I agree 100%! Wonderful guitar all the way around. I have a Gibson LP Classic, 1996 Fender 50th Anniv. Strat Plus with lace sensor pups and a Carvin sc90. This Godin has it's own particular sound and yet sounds like the Fender and the Gibson in some aspects.
I set the sp90's at 1/4 inch below strings. The Duncan website recommends 3/32. That setting screams too much for me. I'm VERY pleased with this guitar. If anything was to happen to it I would definitely get another one. I purchased it new. It cost $559.00 with natural satin gloss. I also ordered a hard shell case for $59.95. The case is VERY well built and worth the 60 bucks. It looks very similar to the case that comes with Gibson guitars. Been playing 38 yrs. Not in a band, don't want to be. Just love playing on my own. Love good quality anything. Love the Blues and Rock.

This Godin LG P90 is'nt mine, I borrowe it just to see what a huitar with P90's is all about. And I really enjoyed it, but I'll get to that later. It has this satin red tranparent finnish on it and has sort LP meets strat meet tele body to it with a 24 fret bolt-on neck. It has a set of schaller tuners and 2 Seymour Duncan SP90 pickups in it along with a volume and tone control. It also sports a nice schaller tune-o-matic bridge and a string through body design that looks really cool and I thinks really helps with the sustain. It was made in Canada and the US and comes with probably the sweetest gig bag I have ever see, trust me I hate gig bags.

Sound : 10
For anyone looking to play anything but country I think you will be pleasently surprised. These pickups are very high output and have alot of balls, but not too much, even though they are single coils. It has the same output as my strat but a more powerful and full sound. I ran it through a traynor ycv40 combo(clean channel) and a marshall jcm800 combo(dirty channel). I was very impressed with the versatility of these pickups for any and all styles of rock and the blues but there was a little noise, you know that 60 cycle hum from single coils, but no more then my strat or my tele. The bridge pickup is not as brite as a regular single coil, actually it was alot warmer and had alot more balls and the neck pickup absolutely sings. It is so warm and beautiful that I think it actually outperforms strats, teles and LPs, for what I use it for. Also, for a single coil guitar with a bolt on neck the sustain is just as good, if not better, then my Les Paul which I thik comes back to the bridge. It is a schaller tune-o-matic with a string though design. But unlike a tele string through design it has a string block and it is made of brass so I think that really boosts the sustain, plus the neck is in a very deep and tight pocket. All in all this guitar is very deceiving, you think alot less of this guitar before you try it. As for the 60 cycle hum, like I said it is no more then my strat or tele, once you start playing (clean or overdirve) its gone and when you are not playing it is'nt that bad. If you really cant handle it when you are not playing just stick the pickup selector switch in the center position.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is great for lead and rhythym. The guitar body is very comfortable, very comfortable and the finnish is beautiful, no flaws what so ever. The only thing I can think of is it has a Gibson-esque type neck, its a little big and hefty for guys with little hands, but if you are experienced enough you can get around that without any diffuculty. Trust me I have small hands.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar seems to be strong as they come. Mahogany neck and body, come on, tough as nails. I think you could totally depend on it to get you through whatever you need to do, as long as it is not country. Hardware is all of fine quality, nothing rattles and nothing has fallen apart.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I dont own this guitar, I borrowed it.

Overall Rating : 10
Look, if you need a unique sound you cant get from a strat, tele or LP this is it. If you need a good backup for a strat and an LP this is it. And if you just want a good all around guitar that'll get you through what you need to do this is it. Me personaly, I am the type of guy that buys a guitar for a purpose, and by that I mean if I buy a Tele I want it for a sparkilg clean and a chunky dirty sound if I buy a Les Paul its so I can rock hard, no questions asked. I presently own a Gibson Swamp Ash Studio Les Paul, a Fender American Standard Strat and a Fender Highway One Tele and soon enough something with P90's will be in my arsenal. I am a firm beleiver that if you want a certain sound you have to buy a certain guitar, in essence guitars are purpose built and you can only get out of them what they are desigend to do. I am not a collector, even though I have 5 guitars (not a very big collection), I am a just another guitar player trying to find the right tones. So, in conclusion this guitar actually can be a healthy backup for pretty much any guitar besides a tele (if you need a backup) but it also stands out with its own very distinct tone and once you play it you will realize that ,along with the other guitars I have mentioned, it is purpose built and can serve quite a purpose. Just dont neglect your other guitars, because you will fall in love with this guitar. Personally, I think my search is over for the guitar with the P90's and now I am onto a dot or an ES series guitar. This guitar is a value in every aspect, espescially at $620 CDN, and I highly recommend trying one out for yourself because your opinion is the thing that matters the most when it cmes to your tone and because P90's are'nt for everyone. Awesome guitar, cheers Godin.

2006 22-fret, mohogany body/neck, rosewood fretboard, 3-on-a-side headstock. Kind of a Tele/Paul hybrid with Duncan P-90s. Trans red high-gloss finish. Canadian/US joint effort. Came with a very nice gig bag. I guess when I look at a guitar's "features," I don't necessarily consider more to be better. This is not one of those guitars you have to "get used to"; it's a simple, straightforward electric guitar that will feel immediately familiar to almost anyone.

Sound : 9
If you like P 90s, you will like the way this guitar sounds. I'd even venture to say that these P-90s are better than most, except perhaps for some hand-wound Lindy Fralin boutique numbers. They have tons of volume, lots of grit, but are quite capable of nice sparkling cleans. A little hummy like any single-coil, but the tone more than compensates. Classic rock never sounded so authentic.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Nice finish, well-adjusted neck, good action. Frets are perfect. I tweaked the truss rod a little, but ended up going back to the factory spec. Mine came with 9s even though it's spec'd with 10s. With the 10s, a little relief in the neck and a slightly lowered bridge, it feels great. The neck is "Gibson scale" but sort of "Fender shape," and it plays fast. The neck joins the body on the bass side at about the 15th fret and it's a bolt-on neck, so I was sure that the upper register of the fretboard was going to be tough to access, but it's really no different than a Les Paul or any single-cut body. Nice belly countour on the back. String-through body and a recessed bridge give it a very smooth-feeling top. A very comfortable guitar, but it's really heavy. Tusq nut is cut tight, Gotoh tuners (Godin branded) do the 18:1 trick. No complaints.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Seems about as tough as a Telecaster; can't imagine this having durability problems. With a T-O-M bridge, string-through-body, one vol/one tone knob, and a three-way switch, it's about as idiot-proof as they come.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No clue here.

Overall Rating : 10
I love Telecasters and I love Les Paul Juniors/Specials. This truly is the best of both worlds.
been playing for 30 years, and this was a really pleasant surprise. I'd say it's an unbelievable value, given the price, quality and the country of origin.

After owning it for a couple of weeks, I was cleaning the guitar when I noticed that there was a gap between the fretboard and the neck. Also, the neck has a slightly irregular shape to it -- a small bulge on the treble side right at the top of the neck cavity. I could actually slip a dollar bill in the gap and it went through to at least the middle of the neck and all slide it all the way to the end of the 22nd fret. It was pretty subtle, or I'm sure I would have noticed it at the shop, or else it had gotten worse since I brought it home. Anyway, I was a little disheartened that my brand new guitar that I had already become attached to wasn't right ...

So... I took it back to the shop where I bought it, they sent it right off to Godin, and three weeks later it's back, with a brand-new neck installed, and set up to the same specs I had it adjusted to when I returned it. Same action, same neck relief, same bridge height.

While I was waiting, I looked probably a dozen other Godins around town, and they all looked fine. So I guess I got the one that slipped past QC, but no worries. Godin took great care of me, very quickly, and to my 100% satisfaction.

Overall Rating : 10
I guess the moral of the story is this: while I have had excellent dealings with internet mail order music stores, in this situation it was certainly reassuring to be dealing face-to-face with the guys that sold me the guitar. They were concerned, apologetic, stood behind the product, dealt with the manufacturer quickly and directly, and gave me updates on the status of the warranty claim.

The LG P90 remains my favorite guitar. Buy with confidence, and know that Godin honors their warranty with no hassle and with no questions asked. And support your local shop!

2002 model, but I am not sure. 24 fret bolt on mahogany neck, rosewood board, mahogany body, 2 (fantastic) Seymour Duncan P90s, 3 way selector. I also give it a 10 because it is simple and does what it was made for - good all around rock blues guitar at a low price but sounds and feels like a guitar much more expensive...

Sound : 10
I think it produces a pure bitey but rounded tone. It is not to sharp - the sound has body to it. This guitar also has excellent susutain - maybe due to the strings that go into the body. I used it on track 10 on my first CD. If you want to hear it for yourself go to CDbaby.com and look up "First Solo Flight" that's the name of the CD or look up my name, Felix Marin jr. You will be able to hear it on line - it is track number 10 called "Kisser".

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action is really good - it is low and comfortable to hold. The finish is okay - this is probably where the guitar is weakest - it looks good but not great. I guess you can not expect everything for the price...

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is solid - think it will last a hundred years if it is taken care of...

2006, made in USA with Canadian parts. 22 frets, mahogany body and bolt-on neck, rosewood fretboard. 2 Seymore Duncan P90s, volume, tone, 3-wat switch. Trans red finish with clearcoat, recessed Tune-o-matic bridge, string-through body. 24 3/4 (Gibson) scale, with meaty but not huge neck, at least compared to my Tele. Came with a very nice gig bag. As many features as I'll ever need. The simple set-up is one reason I liked it.

Sound : 9
The Duncan P-90s are smokin'. This thing is a lot like a Les Paul Special/Junior, with its all-mahogany build and the pickups, so it delivers that sort of sound. Clean, the pickups have plenty of sparkle, but never that piercing treble of the Telecaster. Cranked and driven, they are, in my opinion, the best rock & roll pickup ever made. Meaty and crunchy, but with plenty of pick articulation. I can't decide which I like better, the neck or the bridge; both excel in their op=wn ways. As single coils they're a little noisy, but that's a concession I'll gladly make to get this tone. My only criticism is that the tone control does very little in the first 3/4 of its range. It seems that most of the differentiation occurs just before it's all the way down. Maybe the top half of the range is just too subtle for me to hear.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Really top-notch build quality, especially compared to the Les Paul faded double cut P90 I was comparing this to. The transparent red is classic, and it allows thegrain tro really shine through. Nice clearcoat, excellent and clean routing of the recessed bridge, pickup cavities, and string-through slots. Came with strap lock buttons installed. Nut is straight and nicel;y cut. Frets are even and finished on the ends. All I did was tweak the truss a quarter turn to take some of the relief out of it, and it plays like a dream. The neck has a satin finish on it, which I really like better than a full gloss. It feels dry and smooth in my hand. Played with the action a bit, but after getting the neck straight, I returned it to the factory set up. It's about 2/32 on the bass side at the 12th fret, and less than that on the treble side. The neck/body interface is tighter than the lugnuts on a '52 pickup, and the cutaway on the back makes it very comfortable. It's pretty heavy, but I like the solid feel that the weight gives it.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'd play this guitar without a backup without hesitation. Seems utterly solid and stout. You could fight your way out of a major brawl with this thing!

Been playing 35 years. I own a Martin and a Guild acoustic, a fretless bass, and until last week, a US Telecaster that this guitar is replacing. I chose this guitar because I wanted the P90 thing, I wanted a US-made guitar, and I wanted to spend less than a grand. That pretty much narrowed it down to Gibson, and the Les Paul DC faded that I played was such an utter embarrassment to the heritage of Gibson that I almost had to laugh. By comparison, the Godin was everything that guitar wanted to be, except it wasn't as butt-ugly and it cost $200 less. The LGP90 is one of those "best kept secrets" that truly defy the expectations one has for sub-$1000 guitars. I honestly can't find any reason why this guitar is as inexpensive as it is. It has name-brand pickups, time-tested materials, USA construction, solid craftsmanship, and tone for days. I feel like I won the lottery.

Bolt on chunky mahogany neck (looks like a 2 piece - not like the 'old' godins, and mahogany body (think i read 3 peice, but i have the black pearl finish so not sure)

Dual Seymour Duncan HIGH OUTPUT P90 pickups - very different to other SD P90s i have bought since (and by FAR the best)

Nice brass tuneomatic bridge, with through body stringing - my favorite.

I would say the only place this guitar (my one) lets itself down, is the tuners arn't all great at holding pitch. I have pretty wild vibrato, but even when i hold back. the 3rd plain string seems to stick in the nut, or the machinehead will not hold. Locking tuners would not come on a guitar with everything else godin provided for the list price.

Godin are the best company IMO for working to a list price, and spending the money in the guitar where it should be spent first.

Oh, and it came with a gig bag, that i would expect to pay at least #40 for in the shops. Well padded, but light colour means it looks dirty now, and not shower proof.

Sound : 10
Best sounding guitar i own of its type. I loved it so much, i bought a maple capped chambered washburn custom shop loaded with duncan p90s. Obviously we would all think it would be a better guitar right?

Wrong.

Although the washburn rings out louder acoustically (due to the hollow sections) amped up, the godin has a much more focused sound. Much rounder and earthier. WAY more aggressive in the bridge - my fave rock tone from any guitar out of my dozen or so. Silky smooth, great reaching upper harmonics at the neck pickup.

Part of this is to do with it being all mahogany, and without the hollow sections and maple cap, but a chunk is due to the different winding of these pups (wish i could buy another set but they were made specially for godin so i am led to believe)

In comparison, the similarly specced washburn sounds sloppy when my picking gets up to speed, useless in the bridge, and just not as nice in the neck.

It truly deserves a ten. The only other guitars i now use for tonal variations are an (IMO) even better playing Godin Radiator and EMG SA loaded fender jap strat. The rest seem pretty redundant at the moment, although i am hoping to change that.

Slight consideration - p90s are noisier (background noise - humming)than the equivelant humbucker, and pick up more interference (pc and tv). Not as much as people might want you to think, but certainly noticeable.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Came set up pretty well out of the box. Intonation spot on, set for d'addario EXL 9s. Action a little higher than i would have set, but this took me all of 5 minutes to correct.

The black paint was absolutely flawless, and looks stunning.

The clay dot markers were a bit scruffy, but i want a guitar to play, not to stand up to close cosmetic scruteny.

Main thing i want - and godin excell in; Setting a neck into a body with a bit of care and attention. Really nice tight fit into the neck pocket, well angled. Frets all even, and nicely finished off at the edges. Thats the main thing I want fit and finish wise.

GReat little rosewood truss rod cover - nice touch godin.

Reliability/Durability : 10
totally reliable, as every fixed bridge guitar i have ever owned is. The black coating on the brass looks as it did on day 1 (a year later). The paint looks similarly excellent.

This is a heavy guitar, which could stand a real beating if you wanted to give it one. I think i like it so much, i treat it with a bit of respect - i love it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
local shop said my one tuner was not deffective (i think it is) but that should have been a problem sorted at the dealer, and i don't blame the company for the issue - it only arises after a few weeks of playing.

In an email to the company (about a non related inquiry), i got a kind reply less than 48 hours later from i think possibly from a Godin family member. They couldnt help me with my problem (uni project) but i wasn't holding out much hope and they were very nice about it.

Overall Rating : 10
i bought this at WAY under list price, because i loved my old godin radiator so much. That guitar was at the time the cheapest godin made, and this one, IMO is the top of the performance series in terms of features.

Its not way better than the radiator in my hands or through my amp, but it is very different and more useable for heavier rock tones. So just different - probably more versatile to be honest (more than any guitar i have ever owned)

Its the guitar that sits closest to my amp (laney vc50 combo) and is the one i reach for 95% of the time, even though i have alot of good guitars to choose from.

I would easily (if i could afford it) shell out #450 -500 for this kind of guitar, new in a shop enviroment. Your only comparible type guitars are the PRS soapbar SE and some of the p90 tokai's. They cost this much, and i don't think they are anywhere near as good a package.

absolute 10

Simple- tone, volume for electronics, solid mahogany body w/ mohagany neck. Seymour Duncan P90's. This particular guitar was extremly lightweight compared to all the other solid mahogany guitars on the floor and what I've tried elsewhere(Godin or Gibson). Lot's of resonance.

I'm basically an blues/r&b/rock/whatever pays at the gig player. This is a versatile well put together instrument w/ monster P-90 tone. I'm running this axe through a 1980 Mesa MKII w/ Weber 12" ceramic blue dog & THD Yellowjacket EL84 converters and I'm using a Teese wah and sometimes an overdrive pedal. Lot's of sustain from the guitar. As much variety as you can muster from a two pup guitar. Much better than the way over-priced LP Special reissue.

Right off the floor this guitar was set up very well. Proper action w/ no buzzing. Clean fret work and smooth feeling neck.

Well described already - 2003 model, 24 fret bolt on mahogany neck, rosewood board, mahogany body, Shaller straplocks, 2 (fantastic) Seymour Duncan P90s, one tone, one volume, 3 way selector. Came with a neat Godin gig bag. Giving it a 10, not because it has tons of features but because it has all you need!

Sound : 10
Over the years I have had dozens of guitars and have always been a bit of a guitar snob - if it wasn't Gibson or Fender then it wasn't worth a damn. This is the first time that I have bought a guitar on the recommendation of a review (several actually!). Through my little Line 6 practice amp at home and my Hughes and Kettner 100w combo for gigs and general noisemaking, the LG delivers. One of the sweetest sounding instruments I have ever played. So much so that I thought I'd post this review - the first time I have been moved to do so. I guarantee anyone trying out one of these will be blown away by the sound and the feel. Really good for bluesy stuff and 70's rock. More controllable than a Les Paul (not muddy sounding the way LPs can get on the neck pickup) and more beefy than a Strat or a Tele. Obviously when cranked up, the P90s are a bit noisy as they are single coils, but it is no worse than a Strat.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Bought it new (well I think that it had been hanging on the wall of the guitar store for a couple of years) and apart from a slight tweak to the truss rod, it was perfect. Nice low action. The fit and finish are really good and worthy of guitars costing much, much more. In the last 12 months I have had 4 Gibsons (an SG Standard, Les Paul Classic, Les Paul Custom and Firebird V - everything bar the custom has gone to a better home) and can say that none of them matched the LG for quality. I reckon the neck on the LG is among the best I have played - Gibson-like feel but none of the 'sticky lacquer' problems that afflicted the LP Classic and Firebird especially - at least in my hands.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Looks like it will last and, more importantly, looks like one that I will keep!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them though from all I have read about them they seem to be very customer-friendly.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing 27 years. Presently have a Les Paul Custom, Fender Strat US 62 reissue, G&L Legacy, Fender Telecaster Plus, Tokai Telcaster and a Taylor 422 acoustic. Have owned many, many more!!! Got to say that the two cheapest electrics that I have (the Godin and the Tokai) are among the best!
If it were stolen I would definitely buy another - especially if I could pick it up for what I paid for this one. Godin are criminally underrated here in the UK and deserve more success - at least this means that you may be able to get one well discounted. So before you blindly go and buy that LP Studio or Strat, check one of these out. You won't regret it.

I don't understand a couple of low marks for features. For a guitar in this price range and style is has a lot of unique features. The recessed (for lack of the right term) bridge seems to really add to the action, sustain and tone. The mahogony neck and it's finish is beautiful. As is the fretboard.

I personally think they should have added individual tone and volume knobs for each pickup (for of like the Squire Custom II), but other similar guitar from other companies have pretty much the same setup so I can't really label it as a 'missing feature'.

The only thing I dislike is it's a very heavy guitar. It's heavier then my 81 Dean Elite which I thought was impossible. But all of this also lends to the sound.

Sound : 10
I was looking for a P-90 equipped guitar and I had actually never even heard of this model of Godin. I tried it out along with a PRS Soapbar, an Epiphone, and a Squire Custom II. This guitar had similar tones, but the quality of the construction was miles above the other models tried. The comination of woods and design features gave it a bit of a unique sound as well.

I learned shopping for P-90 guitars for my first time that P-90's are noisey. Espcially with gain. But nothing sounds quite as cool to my ears. And the P-90's in this guitar are quality Seymore Duncans.

You are looking for a specific tone buying a guitar like this, so if you dislike the tone, then you bought the wrong guitar in the first place.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
My experience from other reviewers differs regarding setup. Mine was set up beautifully right off the floor. The action is perfect. As mentioned several times the construction is top notch and I have not seen a flaw in the neck or body. I have picked up guitars 'out of the box' that cost way more money and have been set up horribly straight from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Again, oustanding construction quality. Time will tell how the electronics hold up, but right now everything seems great with the guitar. It comes with quality strap locks, so that is not a concern. The finish is beautiful and seems very durable. The only thing I could see going wrong with the guitar is the electronics but again only time will tell with that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No experience yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I own a 1981 Dean E'Lite Deluxe, a Japanese Fender 52 RI Tele, a MIM Strat (92) and I play them all through a Traynor YVC50. I obviously have the guitars to cover a wide variety of styles, but there is nothing that sounds like P-90's and that is how I found this guitar.

It has an incredible feature set, and amazing construction quality for a guitar in this price range.

it's hard to compare it to other guitars because again is has a pretty unique design. Tone wise it can be compared to other solid body P-90 equipped guitar.

Overall I think the guitar falls into the 'hidden gem' category. Right along with another Canadian manufacturer, Traynor (Yorkville sound). Go Canada.

The pick-ups make this guitar .. gen-you-wine Seymour Duncans. Actually, when you add up the cost of the pick-ups, the rather awesome gig-bag this guitar comes in and little things like the locking strap buttons, this guitar is a bargain.

Anyhoo, sounds great .. quite mid-rangey and VERY loud. The pick-ups are a little noisy but they are single coils after all. I bought this as a back-up to my PRS guitars .. this is a very different sounding guitar but it definitely holds it's own.

Play it through a mildy overdriven tube amp and this guitar gives superb blues tones. Try it through a Boogie on full tilt and it sounds wonderful .. just keep an eye on the noise when you're not playing.

This gets an 7. My PRS Singlecut Artist only got a 9 .. and that's the finest guitar I have ever played. Is it just me or do the majority of people put 10 for this category, even when they are patently reviewing an average, or even down-right poor guitar? I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but ... The day a true 10 guitar is built I will sell my house, buy THAT guitar and go live on an island somewhere. So there!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Had to replace the volume pot on day two, the tone pot now needs doing as well, the pick-ups were too high and snagged on the strings, the action was too low and was fretting out anywhere past the twelfth fret .. in short, assembled by a drunk Gibbon working it's notice.

None of this is a disaster and all points were or are about to be rectified simply, but should you have to, even on a relatively cheap guitar like this?

Reliability/Durability : 6
See above ... it is well built with very little to go wrong once the initial problems are sorted. It is a back-up guitar anyway so not too worried about taking it to gigs.

But hey, when all's said and done, at least it's not a G*bson!!!

Customer Support : 7
Sent an e-mail r.e the problems above, got a reply within 24 hours. Not too shabby. PRS take a month...

Overall Rating : 7
I think this a reasonable guitar for a reasonable amount of money. It sounds like it cost more and it plays like it cost more, which is all that really matters at the end of the day.

The gig-bag is fantastic, the pick-ups are wonderfull, the construction isn't too bad for a fairly low cost guitar. Definitely a better bet than the equivalent from G*bson.

Bought new last week, I believe that this is a 2003 model LG-SP90 as it's in a fantastic dark-gold metallic colour, that is no longer part of the current Godin LG line-up. It's made from Canadian parts and assembled in USA.
Solid mahogany body, with beautiful mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard. 24 3/4 scale.
Simple controls - volume pot, tone pot, and 3-way pick-up selector. Pickups are two Seymour Duncan P90s (fantastic sound!)
Machineheads of Godin's own (and good enough) non-locking variety.
Schaller Tune-O-matic bridge with strings through body configuration.
Guitar came with high-quality, multi-pocketed and well-padded Godin gig bag. In summary, an incredibly well made axe for the money. The PUPs would probably have cost me more than #150 to buy on their own!

Sound : 10
I'm a relative novice, having only started learning to play around one year ago. However, I'm exposed to a lot of guitars and associated kit, as I sing with a semi-pro rock covers band. I play a range of music from blues to classic rock and rock"n"roll, and the LG suits well enough. I also have another Godin Guitar - the SD, with SSH pickup configuration. The SD is a great guitar for the money ( I only paid #225 for it) however the Seymour Duncans on this LG really rock. The clean sound is fantastically smooth (and loud if you want it), and the dirty sound, whilst not as raucous as the humbucker on the SD, is very special. It's a great blues / rock-blues machine!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar seems to have been very well set-up. Not sure if this took place at the factoryl or if the boys at GuitarStore in Southampton did it. Either way, no complaints. PUPs seem to be adjusted OK, although I'm no expert.
All in all the finish on the guitar is superb for the money. Everything fits as it should. One small flaw however, is a bit of missing lacquer (about 1cm long) off the top edge of the fretboard by the nut. All the hardware is of good-quality, and is robust. The ergonomics on this axe are great, with recessed bridge and pick-ups, there's nothing to get in the way of axe-antics.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Having used my Godin SD for more than a year, and seeing taking into consideration the high quality of the hardware and general build of this guitar, I see no reason to worry about using this axe live. The Schaller locking strap buttons are a great inclusion on all Godin guitars. The finish on this guitar (in common with my other) is very good, and seems like it will stand the test of time well.
GOOD WORK FRENCH-CANADIAN GUITAR DUDES! VIVE LA GODIN!

Not really had to deal with Godin. Although I did send them an email when I was trying to source a hard-case for my SD - they responded within a couple of days.

The shop where I bought the LG is long-established, and fairly local to me, so I envisage no problems. They offered to do another set-up on the guitar for free if I ever needed it. The dealer is also offering a one year warranty.

Was originally looking for a dual HMB guitar, and was considering buying an MIJ Tokai Les Paul. Saw this in the shop, tried it out and fell in love with it's build-quality, sound and simplicity. It looks great, sounds great, and should last for many years. I was very, very happy with my first Godin (the SD), and am even happier with this one. I got the guitar for almost half list price. But even at full price, the GODIN axes represent stunning value for money. If you're looking to spend #500 or less on a guitar, buy a Godin. If you're considering spending more on a Gibbo LP Studio or Melody Maker or whatever, you should also consider a GODIN and save yourself some cash.

This is an earlier model, maybe around 2000?

This guitar was the result of my first craving for a p-90 guitar, so this is my first experience, but I'll tell you this - the craving is satisfied! This thing sounds incredible. I plug into my little Princeton/Deluxe Rev clone and crank up the volume and just play for hours! Lotsa distortion sounds I never could achieve are easy as pie with this guitar.
I thought the guitar was a muddy dog when I first got it, but changed out the 250k volume pot to 500k (the tone pot was already 500k - factory or mod??). That change was an excellent move.

Bought this guitar used, so my rating is what I see plus what I think it was originally.
We got off to a rough start, this guitar and me. I bought it second-hand on ebay. Paid the "Buy-it-Now" price after the seller assured me the frets and action were good.
Got the guitar and three frets were popped, the strings were 11s and the action was set to nearly a half inch above the fret board to keep it from buzzing. I was upset. I don't believe this is typical for these guitars. The guy probably stored it next to a heater vent or something. Anyway, Phil Jacoby in Baltimore replaced or reseated the popped frets and did a level and polish and new nut and the guitar played great.
Only problem was that it refused to stay in tune.
I figured that the strings coming through the body as they do, actually cutting into the body wood, might be the reason the guitar couldn't handle my string bends.
I wanted to sell it, but I'm the honest type and if I told folks it wouldn't stay in tune I would have lost my butt on the sale.
I have plenty of guitars, so I mostly ignored this one for about a year. A couple of months ago I got a craving for that sound again and pulled out the Godin. It was impossible for me to wail on it because of the tuning problem and was driving me crazy, so I e-mailed Godin's tech support and a fella named Michel promptly responded, suggesting that I install some good locking tuners. Thank you, Michel. A set of Sperzels was all it needed.
One problem (?) I see is that a couple of the strings roll over the frame of the tune-a-matic bridge before getting to the bridge saddles. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, but it doesn't seem quite right. I'm thinking of trying to find some of the taller type saddles to put in there. But can I find them in black? I dunno.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a well built axe. This isn't the kind of guitar (IMHO) that one plays an entire gig with (unless you're maybe a Who tribute band), but I'm sure it's reliable enough to use without a backup.

See the Action, Fit & Finish section above. No BS to try and protect the company reputation - just told me to get new tuning machines.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing too many years and have five distinctly different and excellent guitars (including this Godin). Of all my guitars, this one gets the most comments on its good looks (the black semi-hollow Ibanez Talman is second place).
With the new pots, fretwork and tuning machines, I guess I paid a total of around $525 for this guitar (case included). This is more guitar than $525 - I feel like I stole it at that price!

Made in 2003. Parts from Canada and assembled in USA. 24 frets. 24.75" scale. 3-piece mahogany painted a bright solid gold (lots of red in the gold) color. Two Duncan SP90 pickups, 3-way switch, tune-o-matic bridge with string through design. Styled somewhat like a Les Paul.

Came with hard case with does not exactly fit the guitar shape properly. A little loose on one side and tight on the other.

Godin, why didn't you put gold tuners on this guitar to match the paint? For that matter, why didn't you use gold locking tuners? I installed Schaller mini locking tuners.

The pups are very noisy (nature of the single coil beast) and Godin should have applied at least 3 coats of shielding paint and should have shielded the control cavity cover. Like most guitar manufacturers they cut corners here.

I would have liked a gold colored bridge but that is just personal opinion and I won't knock them for having it black. I would have also liked gold colored knobs to match the paint. I replaced the two knobs with custom abalone topped gold knurled dome buttons.

I am not a fan of painted mahogany but I liked the guitar finish nevertheless. Everyone does love the color.

I LOVE these pups except that they are too damn noisy on high gain settings. I tend to like most Seymour Duncans in general.

I play it through a PODxt, a miced-up 1 watt homebuilt tube amp and Tonelab into a Bose PAS system. I play classic rok and Blues through this guitar. With the mahogany and string through design the sustain and tone on this guitar is awesome. I may experiment with different capacitors and I plan on adding a Tonepros TP6 gold bridge in the future.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought from a local dealer and he tweaked the truss rod and action to my settings. I usually like 0.080 on the bass E side at the 12th fret and 0.070 on the treble side.

The main reason I bought this guitar was due to the 24.75" scale and neck profile. It matches my 1968 Univox Les Paul copy almost perfectly. I have small hands and short fingers and it fits me perfectly. The neck is very straight and needs very little relief. The fret work is excellent.

The pups were set way too high from the factory. On the base E side it is almost flush with the body and 1/8" higher on the treble side.

One knob fell off because a set screw was loose.

The neck was sticky most of last Summer due to what I believe to be the nitro curing out. Rather than hit it with 0000 steel wool I just waited for it to cure. It has and this winter it is very smooth.

The nut was cut a hair too tight and was causing tuning squeaking on the G & B strings.

Overall the guitar was very well made for its price range.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Based on the design of this guitar it will last a LONG time. The finish is very durable and adheres well to the mahogany. It will resist chipping.

I've emailed Godin twice and they answered back with answers to my questions with 48 hours.

I've been noodling for about a year with 1 hour/week lessons given by a 40 year pro. I own and play a Warmoth short scale strat, Godin LGX3 and 1968 Univox Les Paul.

If lost or stolen I would probably replace.
