The pickups sound great in any position. The wood is very resonant, lots of sustain.

A few slight imperfections at the nut and at the neck pocket. I expected perfection for over $900. I would also expect a hard case at that price but whaddya gonna do.
Difficult to play though. Very stiff. The neck is weird. Kind of like PRS wide-thin, but not so thin. Feels very chunky and the compound radius feels too "restrictive". It felt nice when I tried it before purchase, but apparently I should have tried it more. End result: I sold it. Too difficult to play.

I love reading reviews where everybody compares every guitar under the sun to a Les Paul. "I can't see how Les Pauls go for $2,000 when this $900 beauty is every bit as good" BS! Maybe people are comparing it to a Les Paul because a Les Paul is the standard (no pun intended) by which everything should be compared. Just review a guitar based on what it is, not what it isn't and not what it's better than. This guitar is not a Les Paul, though it has humbuckers and a similar shape. It does not play like a Les Paul. That's not a bad thing. You don't expect it to play like a Les Paul. I don't why anybody would compare it to the sound of a Les Paul without specifically identifying the pickups. There's so many different pickups in different Les Pauls, any general comparison isn't worth anything. A Les Paul is a Les Paul, A Fender Strat is a Fender Strat (unless it's made in Mexico). A PRS is a PRS. A Godin is a Godin. End of story. This Godin was too difficult to play.

I bought this guitar through Warp Drive Music...excellent customer service. Normally, I wouldn't plug the place I bought it from, but good customer service is hard to come by these days. I want them to survive.

I run this guitar through a Mesa Nomad 45 with a TC Electronics G-Major in the effects loop. I always use a product for 3 months before writing a review. The best way to describe the sound of this guitar is WARM & FAT. It's hard to say because you can get many different sounds out of this thing, but if you can, imagine a mix of 25% PRS, 25% SG, 25% Les Paul, & 25% Godin. It's a very full, rich sound, not bright, but not muddy like an all mahogany guitar. It's a very balanced sound. The low notes are crisp and clear, and they don't get lost in the mix.

The action was very low with no buzz. The intonation is good on every note of every fret. The finish is INCREDIBLE!! Flawless. I can't find anything wrong with the finish or fit. When I pulled it out of the case (the nicest gig bag I've ever seen) I was breathless. Then I turned it around to show my wife and her eyes almost popped out of her head. I took it to band practice and my bandmates' eyes almost popped out of their heads...all agreeing that this is one of the most beautiful guitars they'd ever seen.

I researched the shit out of the this guitar before I bought it. I couldn't find anything negative anywhere online. Now I know why. I've been playing guitar for 19 years, and this easily rivals any PRS or Les Paul.

It seems very durable and very reliable, but I've only had it for 3 months, so I can't say yet.

I've owned and played many guitars throught my 19 years of playing. This guitar rivals any guitar I've played. It will be my main guitar from now on. I would HIGHLY recommend buying one. What you get for the money is incomparable.

The features of the Godin Signature are described well elsewhere in these reviews but the most important, I think, are the mohogany body and flame maple top, generously wide but comfortable neck, five-way switch (you can split the Seymour Duncan humbuckers if you like), and understated elegance. The colour of mine is cognac burst with a AA maple top. The gig bag is neat and of fine quality, although a hard-shell case, even as an option, would have been the icing on the cake.

I'm a relative novice, so perhaps I can't express the nuances of the sound as well as a seasoned player, but here goes. I play through a Traynor Custom Value 40 equipped with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker and retubed with JJs; I also use a Pierson Tweed Champ reproduction; and, on occasion, a Roland Cube 30. The LG Signature is a treat for blues, classic rock, and jazz. The neck pickup makes a rich bell-like tone for jazz (think West Coast Blues, Black Orpheus) or early Rock N' Roll (Oh, Pretty Woman, That'll Be The Day), and that position or the middle with a bit of grind is super for blues (Ramblin' on My Mind, When You've Got a Good Friend). The bridge position with enough treble takes on Tele or Strat-like characteristics, or, with enough distortion can get pretty brown (approaching Hey, Hey, My, My, Rockin' In The Free World, One of Us) but not as muddy as a Les Paul. Splitting the pickups gives an airier sound, but not quite as strong as single coils. Really, the tones are a pleasure no matter what you play, except perhaps heavy metal.

I test drove Gibsons (Les Paul Standards) and Fenders (various Strat models) along with Godins (the LG Signature, Exit 22, LG SP90) for about a year and a half. I was already familiar with Godins because I own a Godin Montreal (and this may be viewed by some as a bias), but it is semi-hollow with a 24.75-inch scale, I was looking for solid body, and in fact, I was determined to bring home a Gibson or Fender. I can say confidently that the quality and workmanship of Godin's Signature series is higher than that of Gibsons and Fender. First and foremost is the neck: its shape is indescribably comfortable, and the frets are finished perfectly. The factory setup was fine; low action but no buzz. All of the hardware is top notch.

As much as I'd like to someday, I can't imagine myself doing much live playing, so I can't comment on the guitar's durability. I had it for a couple of months, and it's like my Godin Montreal, which I've had for a couple of years: rock solid and absolutely no problems.

I have always received prompt and helpful replies to my e-mailed questions. I've also had leisurely telephone conversations with their product specialists. No problem in the customer support department.

As I said, I was determined to bring home a Gibson or Fender to complement my Godin Montreal. I did, in fact, buy an American Deluxe Ash Strat but brought it back to Steve's Music the next day and exchanged it for the LG Signature. The LG just felt right, and is built with such care. It's a pleasure to play, and there's no question of me replacing it or buying another. Price wasn't an issue when I was shopping (although I never considered PRS or Gretsch because I can't see what justifies their prices). At $1,000 Cdn., Godins are a steal and a kind of best-kept secret of guitars in North America.

I just picked up a nice Godin Signature. The features have been covered elsewhere. The key points are nice neck, cool string through, good Duncan pick-ups, easy to use 5 way switch like a Strat. Nice widish flat neck that feels really nice and easy to play. It is a long scale like a Strat, which I really like.By the way, I was told it was a factory second, but I cannot find a defect. This guitar seems like a first class guitar with no flaws and perfect set up

This is a nice instrument. Godin is sort of a "sleeper" company that makes great guitars. Nice to have something different.

This is an early '05 guitar (I think). It is an LG SIGNATURE AA maple top with nice flame in Cognac Burst. Exposed maple binding edge (like PRS). Fixed bridge, with nice string through body. The strings ends go through the back of the guitar and sit in a nice solid block of metal that is countersunk in the body. These guitars are well designed and a seem to be a great value too. When you consider that this is a North American built guitar,with really good quality and materials it really is a great value...This thing even has good Seymour Duncan pickups as standard set-up...No need to go to after market pick ups for good tone. The bolt on neck is tight, and this thing rings out loudly even when it is unplugged. Heck, this guitar makes me think that a good bolt on can resonate better than a set neck...My Les Pauls and SGs do not resonate like this Godin!

Wow, this thing covers lots of ground. When overdriven, the bridge p/u can cover most rock and modern rock, but it can also clean up for some biting Tele meets Strat tone, if you set your EQ for that sort of clean tone. The Front pickup is great for blues and jazzier styles. Like the others mention, the mid and in-between split settings can get really close to a Strat sound too. Seriously, this is the best combination of sounds I have found in a single guitar, and they all work well. I have other guitars too, but this one can do it all!

This is a 2004 Godin Signature in AA Blue finish. The details about the Canadian/U.S. assembly have been mentioned elsewhere. The pickups are Duncan CustomCustom and Jazz, which is a great combo. They offer nice humbucking, single coil and split tones. Good design with string through body and nice hardware. I bought this minty example as a used instrument for an great price of $450..that makes this a great deal for a great axe.

This guitar is really one of the best multi-tonal solid bodies I have played. I own a bunch of gear, including Strats, PRS, Les Pauls and others. This guitar covers a wider range of ground than any of them. I am not giving up my Strat for Strat tones or my Les Paul for thick humbucking tones, but this Godin covers a wider range of tones than any of them.

The neck is a something that I needed to adjust to at first..It is wide and medium thick, with a really flat radius. The finish is slightly matte lacquer, as opposed to the glossy necks of PRS or most Gibsons. To be honest, at first. I was not bonding with it, but once you become accustomed to the feel it is really playable. The flat radius and shape is really great for barre chords and rhythm, but it is also really fast. It is now one of my favorite necks.

Great overdriven tones with all of my amps. The bridge is a nice balanced humbucker with enought output from OD and harmonics in the right amplifier. The other positions are very good too. The long 25.5 scale neck with the split and single coil settings gets very close to some Strat tonal territory.

Canadian made and can i say its a fine example of quality workmanship.Nice neck and weight.Very sensitive pickups.Schaller bridge and fine tuners.My only bitch is I like the middle position on a two pickup guitar and you can't get that with this 5 way switch here.Maybe i can wire it different hmmmmmm?I like the frets too but they could be taller.

Duncans sound fabulous.This is very versatile.I still have to rewire it with a 3 way.I don't like the in between sounds.

Brand new either made in 2003 or 2004 in Canada assembled in New Hampshire, USA. 22 frets. AA maple top in trans blue on mahogany back. 1 volume 1 tone 5-way selecter. Humbucker sounds with tap coil in 2 and 4 positions. Seymour Duncan Jazz on neck and Custom custom on bridge. Single cutaway bolt-on design very unique and modern looking. tune-o-matic bridge with string-thru body. non-locking tuners. rosewood fretboard on mahogany neck, 25.5 scale. Came with gig-bag. I give it a 9 because it has everything you need in a solid body electric except for locking tuners.

It has a very unique sound. I like to play blues rock and metal on les pauls but this guitar is different. When played unplugged it has a very crisp articulate resonance from the wood which allows the pickups to provide most of the color on the sound when plugged in. Its a musical resonance that makes you want to play the guitar even if its not plugged in. It makes les paul guitars sound like a mumbling deaf mute. The pickups are very smooth yet responsive to your picking dynamics. When played in the clean channel on various amps I found the neck single coil position to be more beefier than those on most strats. The bridge single coil position is not as bright as a strat but brighter than the humbucking position which makes it very useful on this guitar. When played in the dirty to fully distorted channels I notice that the neck pickup pronounced its notes without getting too muddy when playing chords and has a sweet singing woman tone when playing solos with tone to spare, you can roll off the tone pot and get many useful jazzy or Slash-esque tones. The bridge is crisp in rhythm and cuts thru a mix durring solos just enough to let listeners know that a solo is being played. Gibson lead pickups have a little more juice in it than the SD Custom customs, that acts like compressor boosters that give it the tone to make you feel immortal when playing solos, "THAT" is what makes it a Gibson. The Seymour Duncan Custom custom on this godin needs an eq booster or compressor or a seperate channel on an amp to make it stand out from the rest of the sounds on the other positions. Its not a bad thing, it just shows how balanced the available sounds are on this guitar and that all of them are usable. And besides, In this era of music the new amps are coming with 3-channels anyway, so you can just boost one of the channels for lead solos. What I really like about this guitar is the 3rd position which combines the neck and bridge pickups in a slightly dirty channel. This position gives me a smooth buttery woman tone with just enough bite for chords and solos, kinda like santana-meets-hendrix. I give it a 10 because for the first time I have a guitar that sounds fresh to my ears and got my soul to make my fingers move differently on the fretboard. I still have full respect for Fenders and Gibsons.

The fretboard is rounded on the edges and is really comfortable to play. It exceeds action, fit and finish on guitars over 1 grand. It is more comparable to a 3000 dollar guitar=PRS, custom shop Fenders, and historic colletion series Gibsons. As usual I like to lower the action as low as possible without buzzing and this guitar did very well. I didn't even have to adjust the truss-rod. Which I wouldn't want to anyway because I hate doing that and I think its a double truss-rod. Excellent job luthiers of Godin!!!

This guitar is solid with nothing loose or weak. The hardware is coated with black so I covered my screwdrivers with a t-shirt and took extra care when I adjusted the pickups. As long as the hardware is black it shouldn't rust. I replaced the strap buttons with Schaller locking but noticed that the screws came off really easy. Not sure if this is good or bad but usually they are really hard to come off therefore I have to minus a point. I looked at the wiring in the back and everything was soldered and secured very well.

Never had to deal with any company directly in my life because I buy my guitars in guitar shops that are certified dealers and always settle the repair before I have to deal with the company. My favorite store: Island Guitars, Hawaii.

I have been playing for over 13 yrs and have a Gibson Les Paul classic, Gibson Les Paul standard, MIM fender strat, Ibanez GAX-70, Parker nitefly and now a Godin LG Signature. Les Pauls and strats are awesome but are so associated with their sweet sound that has been used in countless great songs past, present and future. Which is probably why everytime I pick them up I see myself as some of the legendary les paul/strat users and find myself as an immitator instead of an artist. I cant help it! The Les Paul just has this sound that makes my soul feel what Legends have already felt in the past and I am just experiencing a really awesome ride that unfortunately has been discovered many times before I was even born in 1977. I bought the Parker nitefly looking for unchartered waters in music but it just made my heart feel nothing. Then I bought the Godin LG Signature and this guitar made me feel alive and the tone was new. I have finally found a guitar that I can express my soul and give me a new sound that makes me feel like every note was heard for the first time and I have no guitar legend in my mind when I am playing it. Do yourself a favor and try one out to feel if its the guitar for you before everyone else and their grandma is playing it 50 years from now!!! which isn't a bad thing but it would be nice to have your face associated with this guitar first you know what I mean(Hendrix-Fender strat/Page-Gibson LP)

My signature was made in 2003. Parts made in Canada and assembled in the USA. 22 fret, mahogoney neck with rosewood board. Mahogoney body with carved AA flame maple top. Very nice AA flame, closer to a AAA! The headstock is matching to the body. Mine is the Trans Black finish which is quite stunning with the flame top and a tan marble - look binding around the top of the body. Schaller bridge with 5 way switching. Seymour Duncan Jazz 2 and custom Custom fill out the pick ups. Also has a locking tuner system that makes tuning somewhat easier. Fairly wide and chunky neck but yet retains a comfortable feel. Apparantly this is due to some shaping that is done on the neck and edges? The neck is a 4 bolt type with quite a deep pocket. String through type of system that provides better sustain in my opinion. The soft case gig bag is quite heavy duty with enough pockets and storage areas. Padding is excellent!

All and all, a great bang for the buck in terms of features! Considering the price of this guitar the value is easily a 10!

My current set up is the LG Sig through a Boss GT 6 and then into a Traynor YCV 80 4x10. I also play direct into the Traynor as it has 2 very good channels. The Godin LG Sig. easily covers all styles of music I play. From Memphis Blues to Chicago Blues to some Rockabilly to Classic Rock to Heavy Rock, I can cover all those bases. Of course, good amps and effects, etc make a big difference. Playing direct into the clean channel of the Traynor and using a bit of reverb, I can cover dark jazz to twangy tele/strat tones nicely. The 5 way switching provides great variation in tonal options as well as chunk or drive. In the bridge position I can cover strat and tele sounds beautifully. The next position is a great strat sound. In the middle position, i can create almost anything using just the volume and tone control. The neck positions provide that great les paul soloing sound. Everything from a violin type sustain to dark jazz. Like others have stated, Nu-metal or thrsh or whatever would not work with this guitar unless pickup were changed, perhaps? All pick up combos produced natural, articulate sounds. There is a personality behind each setting that is waiting to be found. Unlike many other guitars in this price range that all have that generic sound, the Godin sound is original, clear, articulate, responsive, balnaced and very easy to listen to!

This guitar was at Long and McQuade for approx. 1 week when I bought it. I had been playing another of the same colour for about 8 months everytime I went into the store. At that time I owned a Godin LG with the P 90's. Great Guitar, too! I had been lusting over the Trans. Black LG Signature for about 1 year. When this beaty arrived I had to have it. As it had only been on the rack for about 3 days it was in mint condition. The beautiful Translucent Black finish over the flame top and the matching headstock is powerful. The flame was nicely matched up and the fisnish was impeccable! There is a beatiful multi tan coloured marble looking binding around the top of the guitar that is about one eighth of an inch wide. Perfectly applied and finsihed, too! The black hardware finishes the look, At the 21st fret there is a oblong fret marker in abalone. The word that comes to mind when looking at the guitar is striped rootbeer. The fit and finish was excellent! The Jumbo frets were finished to a standard usually reserved for guitars twice to three times as much. After a very careful inspection I could find only 1 flaw. That was in the finish by the third string through hole on the front of the guitar. There was a bit of puddling in the finish around the hole of the string through. That is a pretty well put together guitar with fit and finish of the highest quality!

I have owned this guitar for 1.5 years. My playing has been mostly at home and with friends doing small jams. I look after my gear with much attention. Having said that, I know this guitar will wear well! I base this on the last 16 guiatrs I have owned and how they "felt" and how they wore. I would depend on this guitar to get me through anything, but with all things it is good to have a back up!

HAve not had to deal with them about a guitar concern. My guitars have both worked without problems. I have contacted them about questions regarding the setups, or the ideas behind certain designs or to compliment them and I have always had quick responses. I beleive that the customer support would be outstanding if an issue came up wwith the guiatrt

I have been playing 15 years and have owned many different guitars like many of you. My experience tells me that the Godin LG Signature and the Godin LG p90 are incredible value! I have owned Fenders, Gibsons, Yamahas, PRS, etc. The playability is incredible. It's an easy guitar to set up and once it is, look out. The other thing I love about this guitar is that you can play for hours without going out of tune! The only thing I wish it had was strap locks, but hey, I can buy those myself. Definately buy again if it was stolen. Actually, probably will continue owning Godins in one form or another for a long time. Great guitars!

2004, 22 Frets, Blue Flame Maple AA top. H/H Configuration. It has all of the features I need except for locking tuners so it gets a nine.

I also own the LG P-90 model and the SDxT model. This guitar has much more note definition than those two, e.i. notes can be heard much clearer. The pickups sound great, they're not as high gain as the P-90s in the other LG but for rock they sound great. I don't use the single coil sound that often, I wouldn't recommend the guitar if that's the sound you're looking for.

The setup was good, I lowered it a little as soon as I got it. This is normal for most guitars, I don't know why everyone complains if their action is a little higher than what they're used to when the first buy a guitar. Higher action means more sustain, guitar manufacturers know it will sound better this way.

I've owned 3 Godin guitars and have yet to have problem with any of them. They're built by a company that takes pride in what they do, unlike some other well-known companies. The strap buttons are solid strap-lock style. I've played this guitar a few times in a live situation and I should be able to depend on it. As far as gigging without a back-up, that's a stupid question, there's no guitar out there that won't break strings. You should always have a back-up when playing live.

I've dealt personally with the company on many occasions. They've been very helpful, although it seems that they have taken off the phoen number on their website.

I love Godin guitars, I tell everyone I know about them. I would definitely replace this if it were lost/stolen. There are really no other guitars of this quality in the same price range. I wish it had sperzel locking tuners but not many guitars come with this feature. It has it's own look, and if you want to be a trailblazer and not a coattail rider I would recommend getting one.

Ma godin lg signature est un modele 2004. Elle est assemblee aux Etats-Unis avec des pieces faites au Quebec. Il y a 22 frets sur le manche de palissandre de 25,5 pouces de long et il y a une table en erable flamme bleu translucide. Il y a 2 pickups double seymour duncan humbucker dont un SH-4 JB model au neck et un SH-11 custom custom au bridge. Pour choisir les micros, il y a un selecteur 5 positions et il y a un bouton pour le volume et un bouton pour la tonalite.

La guitare est tres polivalente. Elle peut facilement produire des sons de blues et de jazz, comme elle peut etre utilisee pour du hard rock et du heavy metal. Ce n'est pas le meilleur choix pour du death metal mais le potentiel est vraiment grand. La qualite du son est tres bonne pour le prix et on se demande comment Godin fait pour etre rentable en vendant un instrument d'aussi bonne qualite a un prix aussi faible. Les micros sont generalement silencieux mais en mode single, le neck est quand meme un peu bruyant. Mais en general, le son est vraiment bien.

La guitare est aussi tres bien construite. Le manche est parfaitement ajuste a la table et le fini est tout simplement magnifique! La table en erable est reliee au corps en acajou avec une ligne d'erable non peinturee avec le procede du natural binding. L'effet est superbe. Les cordes sont un peu desalignees avec les micros et les frets ont ete limes au magasin, ce qui fait que le fini sur les cotes du manche est un peu moins beau. Les pickups chromes sont malheureusement facilement salissables. Le moindre conctact avec une main suffit pour laisser une empreinte difficile a enlever. Pour le reste, le fini et l'assemblage sont tres biens.

Je n'ai ma lg signature que depuis 5 mois, mais elle est tres solide. Je pense qu'elle peut en prendre beaucoup avant de perdre de la valeur. Il n'y a rien qui laisse supposer des problemes au niveau de la fiabilite.

J'ai communique une fois avec Godin par courriel, et ils m'ont repondu le jour meme. Ils sont tres accessibles et je n'ai vraiment pas a me plaindre.

Ca fait maintenant deux ans que je joue et c'est ma premiere guitare electrique. Je suis extremement satisfait et je recommande cette guitare a tout le monde qui desirent un excellent instrument pour un prix beaucoup moins eleve que la concurrence. Si je me la faisais voler, j'en racheterais une autre le lendemain. Son plus grand avantage est sa polyvalence de sons. On peut vraiment tout jouer avec une lg signature et de plus, elle a un look super.

I have a 2004 model with all of the features mentioned in the previous reviews. 2 Seymours, carved AA maple flametop on mohogany. You really can't beat the value of this guitar, easily keeps pace with a Les Paul at a fraction of the price. All work is AAA, fit and finish is excellent. This guitar is a lady, not a cheap slut like most guitars out there these days....

I play mostly hard rock/metal like AC-DC, A.I.C, Black Sabbath, S.T.P etc., and when coupled with my Line 6 Flextone III, I can pretty much nail any tone out there. This guitar just oozes rich sound and tone, and is rock-solid. I have a bit of a mid range feedback problem at gigging volume, but I am getting an ART 351 EQ to rectify that. I find the Custom Seymour in the bridge is a little hot. I dislike absolutly nothing about this guitar, I am so happy I bought it.

Second to NONE!!! I mean that... PRS, Gibson, Fender have nothing on these guys. Although I did have a cold solder on my volume pot that had to be fixed, but nothing major there....

Like a good woman, this axe takes all you can give it, and does not complain, only waits for more. This thing will dance on my grave. I sweat all over it, bend strings off the neck, pound the body with my clenched fist to evoke feedbacky nightmares and more. I haven't even broken a string on this thing, which I attribute to both quality strings and the awesome bridge on this guitar.

I have been playing for about 20 years I guess. I have found all I need in this guitar and my Line 6 Flextone III. I will soon have an EQ in the effects loop as I stated earlier an perhaps I will add a verb unit for depth and dimention, then I am done. I love the finish, a trans-blue AA Flametop, all the hardware is top-notch, the craftsmanship is superb. It can go from cool and smooth to hot and snarly in a snap. Buy one, you'll love it.

Well, I just got it. It was hand made here in Canada, 22 frets. Mahogany body, flamed maple top (AA), mahogany neck with rodewood fingerboard. Mine is finished in Transparent Black. Two humbuckers (SD Jazz 2 in the neck possition and a SD Custom Custom in the bridge possition) One volume, one tone, 5-way switch for selecting the pickup configuration; same set-up as on PRS guitars. 25.5" scale

Tonally this beast rocks! I'm a blues player and do sessionwork for rock bands and this NAILS all the tones I look for. The pickups are a tad too bright, which is important since you can always roll of the tone knob a bit (if the guitar lacks highs there's nothing you can do, so it's better to have them a bit bright, eh?) There's just something about mahogany guitars with maple caps, y'know? Warm and rich, full-sounding without any nasty bite. There is nothing tonally about this guitar that I dislike! My best guitar - hands down.

The guitar was well set up when I received it, and then the music store at which I bought it finished the srt-up. It's very nice now.

This is the third Godin I've bought - I had one of their LG90's and an LGX-SA. Both were great instruments, but both had necks far too thin - once I started getting into playing hard the necks would start to bend around screwing up the intonation and tuning.

BUT...

Godin has fixed their necks! The neck on my new LG SIG is more massive and stable than I'd even hoped for! Super comfortable, easy to play on (and FAST! I play faster on this guitar than on any other guitar ever!) I give the ACTION a 10!

The fit is superb - no gaps anywhere and the strings are aligned perfectly over the pickup-poles. You couldn't get a sheet of onion-paper between the neck and body. I give the FIT a 10!

Now for the negative stuff: The finish was applied fairly well, but the body has natural binding and all around the body of the guitar you can see how the black finish bled into whatever was masking the wood and caused these ugly, grey splotches all over the beautiful, white maple. Next, the headstock is a slightly different colour than the body - and it's quite noticeable. In fact, the headstock is a purple-grey and, when the guitar is out in the light or in the dark, looks completely different than the body. So for FINISH I give the Godin LG Signature a 6. (the rest of the finish was well done.)

Oh, and the finish on the neck is perfect. Not at all sticky.

It's so well put together, and all of the parts are top-of-the-line, so I'm comfortable it'll last as long as I do. The grain of the mahogany on the neck is dead straight! No run-off whatsoever. The fit is flawless. I'm sure it'll be around for a long time.

Godin USED to be SO good for customer support. Sadly, this has changed. There is no link or phone number anywhere on their sitr anymore - just a snail-mail address which is useless if you want to ask them a quick question. Too bad - I used to rate them a 10, but now I'll have to give them a 5 (since they occasionally answer the dealers' questions.)

I've beed playing for 23 years now. I have too much to gear to list, but I've owned so many guitars (Jazzmaster, Les Paul Custom, 62' Vintage RI Strat, Godin LGX-SA, etc) and amps (Fenders galore, a few Marshalls - the only amp I use now, though, is a David Allen Accomplice. Period. Best amp I've EVER encountered.) Anyway, I've had a lot of gear, and I love this Godin LG Signature. If they ever offer it in any colours other than tras. blue and trans. black I'll get another as a backup, not that it would need one, but it's silly to gig without back-up EVERYTHING!

I'd heartily recommend this guitar to anyone in the Les Paul/PRS crowds. It has the tone, what more could you want?

Most of the specs have been covered by other commentators. My LG Signature is new, in fact, it was back ordered from Godin. It's transparent black with the AA top. The tuners on mine are marked "Godin," but they resemble Gotohs. They have screw-down clamps that clamp the string in place, which I think is kind of handy. The fret board is comparatively flat (12" radius, I think), which seems to work well for me. I am having a bit of trouble adjusting to the "ergocut" edges on the fret board. Sometimes when I hit the low E, it slips off the board. My hands are small, and I don't use my thumb as much as most people do on the low E. So I tend to push the string away rather than push it back toward the fret board. This is a real minor issue, but it's the only nit I could find to pick off the LG Signiture.

I play mostly blues and folk-rock, and this guitar works well for both. I use no effects other than what's available on the 50W Carvin tube amp I play it through--reverb and distortion. Between the options provided by the amp, the 5-position switching on the guitar, and the variations provided by the volume and tone controls, I can get the gamut of sounds from murky mud to crystalline twang. And I can't believe the sustain on this thing. Far better than my Gibson ES135, my G & L SC-2, my Epiphone LP Standard, or my Godin Radiator. It also has the quietest electronics. Very little latent amp hum, and it's the same in any of the 5 switch positions.

I don't know that I'm an expert on this, but it seemed to be set up with Swiss-watch precision. Everything tight, and I presume it came that way from the factory. (I bought it online.) One thing I might mention: I kept looking at pictures of these guitars at the Godin website and on eBay trying to determine whether there was body binding on the guitar. There isn't; instead, they have left the end grain of the hard maple top unstained--natural. So there's this nice contrast that looks like binding.

I'm not a pro--just a serious hobbyist, but it sure seems durable to me. The LG has a mahogany neck, and I've always favored maple, which is stronger. But if you break the neck on a guitar, you must be doing something wrong. It has Schaller strap-lock buttons, and it doesn't come with the corresponding female parts. I like the Dunlop locks better, but not enough to replace them; I bought a set of Schallers. Guitar stays in tune nicely.

Well, there's no email address posted on the website, and there was no owner's manual. There's a manual available to download for the "Performance" series, which includes the LG HMB. I suspect the electronics are the same (5-way switching, etc.). I suspect Godin relies on their authorized dealers for customer support; they seem to discourage online sales. They think a person should play an instrument before buying it--which makes perfect sense. Still, you can get a pretty good idea about an instrument from reviews like this. Anyway, the nearest dealer is 150 miles away from me.

I've been playing, on-and-off, since 1963. I mentioned my other electric guitars above; I also have a Takamine acoustic. This is my favorite guitar, primarily because of its sound--in particular, its sustain. I would certainly replace it if (heaven forbid!) anything should happen to it (knock on wood). I guess here's where I confess to the fact that I've had the guitar less than a week . . . Well, if I change my mind about anything, I'll let you know.

Well lets see, I played just about all the high end guitars in the store. I kind of liked the sound of a $3500 Gibson a bit better but there was only 1 real sound there

This guitar isn't great for hard hard rock or metal, but its great for everything else.

No dislikes! (well, ok, just the black satin tuner caps, but I easily replaced those in 10 minutes)

Basically take a look at a Gibson Les Paul for 4 times the cost.
This guitar has action, fit and finish that is equal if not better than that!

Everything on this guitar is better and more durable than any of my other guitars

Although I heard they didn't anticipate being this popular so they are backlogged now.
Hopefully they will start pumping out cheaper stuff like Fender and Gibson to keep up with demand so that my axe is rare!!

the other guy stated most of the features. the aa flame body looks magnificent. the mahago9ny neck sounds beautifull, and godin maticulously places the neck into the body for perfect intonation.one volume, one tone knob, 5 way switch, seymour duncan humbuckers. if it had an LR Baggs system, or a peizo system, i would have given a 10, but this is a GREAT guitar. Godin is where you will get your moneys worth. (by the way, i know some one who has an lgx, and it is at my house right now. this is basically an lgx, but with flame maple top, and no acoustic - bridge pickup system)

i play rock, metal, and other stuff like liquid tension experiment, and alot of jhon petrucci stuff. i use it through a Crate Gx 212, and a zoom 607. ot has great tone on distortion and clean settings.
the neck pickup is kind of noisy, but has the best tone i find. it is a VERY versatile guitar. i like the flame maple top, the mahogany body/neck, sounds excellent, i like the body through string setup. but..the neck pickup is a little noisy. thats still good though, not enough to bring down the sound a whole point.

the action is perfect. every thing is properly routed, and the flame maple top matches the rest perfectly. this guitar will last a long time. very nice. i suggest godin over any other brand.

everythiong seems like it iwll last, but the tuning keys are plastic. the strap buttons are solid, kinda squeak a little, but solid, i can definately depend on it. I would use it at a gig without a backup.

i dealt with a store, and bought this guitar at 50% off, brand new. iam not sure about a waranty. the guy that works at the store is a really ignorant asshole, and trys to make you feel as uncomfortable as possible, but they did have the 50% off sale, which is why i give a 4.

ive been playing for about two years. i own a fender 12 string, a gibson acoustic, a samick,m and a fender copy. if it was stolen or lost, i would be a sad puppy. but i would buy another, if i could find one. i love the sound, the action, and the aa flame maple top. my favorite feature is the pickups. i was thinking about getting a godin radiator, but i diddnt want it. so i splurged and got the Lg signature. i wish it had a tremolo system. a nice wilkonsen tremolo,

Brand new 2003 Godin LG Signature. Made in Canada, and assembled in USA. Beautiful Trans Black AA flame Maple top and bookmatched. 25.5" scale, 5-way selector switch, mahogany neck and body, rosewood fretboard, string through body, Godin spec tuners. Pickups are Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck, and a Custom Custom in the bridge, with really pretty smoked grey pickup covers. This is basically an LGX, but without the piezo in the bridge. Comes with a great gig bag.

This guitar sounds really nice. It's not a thrash axe, but a very classy sounding rock and blues guitar. I play it through a Fender Blues Jr, and with the 5-way selector and the Duncan's in the neck and bridge, can get alot of sweet jazzy, bluesy and rock sounds. Sound is very full and sweet. It's almost too laid back at times, whereas my LG SP90 really can rock. This LG is sophisticated, whereas the LG SP90 is a little rougher around the edges. That being said, the Signature is slouch, and the SD pups can really rock hard with some drive from the amp.

Setup out of the box is top rate, and perfect. The appointments on this guitar is beautiful, you just want to look at over and over. The finish is amazing, with the transparent flame maple top in Black just looks beautiful. Everything was aligned perfectly, A+

I have no reason to think this axe won't last, but you might not want to play at gigs because it looks to good to through around. More suited to a classy jazz club, than metal. The tuners are plastic and may need to swapped, and like my SP90, i have some reservations about the string through body design keeping the guitar in tune properly. We'll have to see about that over time.

For the money, you can't buy a guitar like this anywhere. For the finish alone, a Gibson or PRS will run you twice the cost and more. It's a beautiful, classy sounding guitar. I would buy another. Godin makes exceptional guitars in their price range, and are top buys always.
