22 frets, tune-o-matic style bridge, string through body, Godin tuners non locking
2 Godin design pickups, 1 vol 1 tone with 5 way switch
Solid mahogany body and neck, natural finish, single cutaway Godin shape
rosewood fingerboard, bolt on neck
Recently upgraded tone and volume controls to stacked ones to allow individual control of each pickup. This is the only feature i felt this guitar was missing after owning it for a few years. Though i may yet rewire the 5 way for more versatility as on the dimarzio website

I use a Rockit super lead 130 (80's Nz made messa clone. very very good) amp with a cry baby wah, addrock ol yeller, ibanez tonelock phaser, ibanez flanger, nobels tremelo and a boss turbo overdrive.
The fact that this guitar is all mahogany gives this guitar a big round bottom end with mostly nice sweet highs. I think the bolt on neck adds some bite to the top end though.
I play a variety of music mostly rock, blues, some ska and jazz.
This guitar works really well for rock. The bridge pickup really nails most classic and modern rock type sounds when paired to the right pedals and amps. I find i like the bridge pickup best with the tone rolled back a little to make it a bit less biting and harsh sounding. Neck pickup is good for jazz with the tone rolled off a bit and works well for rock solos with tone all the way up as well. In single coil mode the neck pickup works alright for blues and bridge pickup alright for ska but aren't as good as real single coil pickups for this. To me the humbucker sounds are top notch though and they are what i use this instrument for. No need to upgrade the pickups in this one as they are very good quality for stock. They even have 4 conductor wire.

Overall well set up when i bought it. After i set the intonation and neck properly my only issue was scratchy pots which have since been replaced.

Built really solidly. Strap buttons were an issue though as they weren't really wide enough. I replaced them with some i had lying around. I have performed with this guitar without backup before and its been reliable.

I recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to play rock music of most descriptions. It is a cut above similarly priced epiphones i played in the shop at the time. In retrospect i would choose buy secondhand over anything new for better value. But it is a great guitar and has standout performance for the price. There wasn't much between this and a Gibson Les Paul standard i tried out apart from slightly better sound and better looks. I wish it had a set in neck and a maple top but it is still really good as it is. Oh and more switches are always good!

USA/Canada made, July 2004. Mine has a natural satin finish which looks great after 5 years. The design of body of the guitar is like a combination of Les Paul & Tele. It has 2 humbuckers by Godin and a 5-way switch 1 volume and 1 tone control. With 22 jumbo frets, 24.5" scale, the one-piece neck is one of the best neck I've played on, with nice worn in feeling and comfortable. The whole guitar is made of mahogany except for the rosewood fretboard. Mine is a two-piece solid mahogany but I've seen some with three-piece body. The bridge is kinda similar to tune-o-matic style but the strings run through the body. One thing i don't like about the guitar is the tuners. It's plastic and i broke one and another 2 of them have small crack but i guess it's about time those plastic give themselves up after all these years of abuse.

I play wide range of music. Mainly rock, post-hardcore, progressive, pop, a bit of metal, post-rock, occasionally blues... and i write music for my band and as personal hobby. This guitar is amazingly versatile and you can get almost all kind of sounds, be it clean, jazzy sound, decent single coil sound, crunchy fat rock tone or metal, as long as you plug it with the right setup of equipment (try different pickups and effects). I've swapped the stock bridge pickup with Seymour Duncan JB. The JB is my final piece of puzzle to get the balanced sound from LG. Before JB, i tried with Invader but the guitar sounded very muddy. With a Marshall MG100DFX and Tech21 SansAmp GT2, this axe can blow Ibanez or Epiphone away for good!

The guitar was set-up pretty good at factory. I did asked the tech guy to raise the action slightly higher cos it was too low for my taste. Everything else was at perfect condition. The guitar is like vibrating as one unit when being strum unplugged. No flaws!

Rock solid for its price! i played it for 4 years from room practice to live show and it can go on without bringing a backup! It is damn durable since i accidentally smashed the guitar to the amp couple years ago and has slight visible cracks on both side of the neck near the nut, but the sound and sustain is practically unaffected! The finish on the neck is kinda less durable and started to thinning out a little bit after years of sweaty hand played it but i don't mind cos the sound of the guitar is getting sweeter compared to the first time i played it.

COol! i emailed them the serial numbers of the guitar to get the date the made the guitar and they replied me about 3 days time. Not sure bout the warranty in Malaysia but there is no need to repair it unless you smash it on stage...

I played guitar for about 8 or 9 years. I don't mind getting one of these back if mine is lost or stolen in anyway. If you want a decent priced, quality guitar but getting bored of typical brands like Ibanez, Epiphone, LTD which mostly made in Indonesia, Korea, Japan and Taiwan or whatever, try Godin, you won;t be disappointed!

this is a follow up. I recently found out that my godin LG was a factory second, but was sold to me as standard model (for the standard model price) this was done by the ever so loving people at longe and mcquades. Needless to say i'm incredibly angry, but i've already voided the warranty and such. This in no way changes my opinion of the guitar, because it is still the best looking LG i've ever seen. This is just a warning to anyone buying from longe and mcquades. if you are going to buy a godin from them, make sure to check the end of the serial number for a capital F. the F means "flawed", and is generally sold for about 60-70 dollars less than a standard.

Assembled in New Hampshire from Canadian parts. Made in 2004. Solid mahogany Les Paul shape body, string-thru body bridge (no whammy bar), dual passive Godin humbucking pups, 1 volume pot, 1 tone pot, 5-position switch HH SS HH SS HH, mahogony neck w/rosewood fingerboard, 24.75" scale, 18:1 tuners. Came with really nice gig bag.
I give it a 10 for simplicity, having everything I want and no more.

I play blues, country, rock and some home-grown stuff that defies description. This guitar is great! I play it through a Peavy Studio Pro 112. Clean, it sings with loads of sweet sustain. Through the drive channel, it barks and growls and howls. The 5-position switch gives great combinations. The bridge pup is very rock-'n-rolly and the single-coil sounds are hollow and glassy. It all sounds great but my favorite position is the middle (HH HH) where you can hear both pups. Very balanced and full, the bass never gets muddy and the highs are clear and sweet. The neck pup sounds dark for those rhythm chords. I compared it to Gibsons that were 3 times the price and I bought this on the spot.

Well, I did something I've never done before. Based on seeing an LG P90 in the store, I ordered the LG HMB sight-unseen and sound-unheard. I ordered it in Cognac Burst expecting there to be as much red in the sunburst as there was in the P90 that I saw in the store but there wasn't. It looks more like a tobacco burst. It still looks great but not exactly what I expected. So I changed my expectation and I'm happy with it. Since I ordered it sight-unseen, I don't fault Godin. It's still beautiful.
The 4th (D) string was a little low at the nut and it buzzed on the 1st fret. The tension rod also needed to be tightened a little. The repair guy at the store put me at the front of the line and had it fixed in a day. Now it is perfect on all fronts and I give Godin and Guitar Resurection a 10.

This is a very solid guitar in every regard. I gig occasionally and I'd trust it without a backup. I take good care of my instruments but even if I didn't, I feel this guitar would hold up.

I've been playing 50 years, mostly accoustic, lately electric. I love the sound, the looks and the playability is outstanding, practically plays itself!
Think of it as a Gibson Les Paul Special with twin humbuckers for half to a third the price. If I lost it, I'd hotfoot over and get another in Transparent Red.

Got the new 2004 with 22 fret neck. It gets the neck pickup right below the octave harmonic. Sweet sound. 2 piece mahagony body. I tried many in the store and they were all very heavy (being an all mahagony guitar). Then I came upon this one. About 60% the weight of the others. Either extremely dry or not full of minerals like mahagony is known for absorbing during its lifetime. The result: a very resonant guitar that gives a very warm, woody tone. I prefer a warm woody tone and sacrifice a bit on sustain and attack. Pretty straight forward features.I like the 5-way switch, it adds to the versatility. Comes with a great gig back.

I don't bother with factory setting as I know I will have to re-adjust it after re-stringing as I play with 12s on short scale guitars. No flaw that I could see.

Comes with strap locks. When I buy a guitar I will always go through all the nuts and bolts and couldn't find anything loose or that needed some refitting. It's the first time this happens to me in over 26 years of playing and servicing guitars.

I have played or owned almost anything worth owning out there. I no longer believe in big names. I was disappointed with big names (and big $$$) guitars and was quite pleased with some cheap ones. The music is in your soul and your hands not the guitar. To me Godin represents extremely good value (price/features/sounds). I own anoth LG P90, SD and M6 Acoustic.

This is a 2004 Godin LG HMB. I bought the natural satin finished one.
Mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard, five way switch, sunken schaller bridge, 18:1 tuners, dual humbuckers, graph tech tusq nut, and single volume and tone controls.
It has a standard gibson scale (24.75) but the neck is about a 1/4 inch wider to provide better fingerstyle. The only thing I dislike about this guitar is the tuners. For a 500 dollar guitar, made in Canada, i'm willing to overlook them. I'll probably replace them with some planet waves auto trims. Guitar comes with the grand daddy of all Gig bags. It's the best I've ever seen.
The five way switch provides you with...well, five different options. Position 1: bridge humbucker Pos.2: bridge coil Pos.3: neck and bridge humbucker pos.4: neck single pos.5: neck bucker. It's almost too much for me!
I forgot to mention the brilliant "les paul" cutaway. It's a lot deeper, and the bolt on joint is carved for excellent high fret access.

This is the most versatile guitar I own. It is capable of Jazz, Blues, classic rock, classical, thrash, death metal, anything!
I play mostly death metal/thrash with bursts of fingerstlye classical. I use the guitar through a randall RH100 halfstack, with a seven band EQ in the loop. The pickup selection for original material is the bridge humbucker for distortion, middle and neck for clean and bassier leads. Let's just say it's great for anything that needs an electric guitar. It's a little bright though.
I'm kinda thinking of throwing a JB, or possibly an X2N in the bridge, but that won't be for a while.

FLAWLESS! Well, technically it's almost flawless. There is a tiny tiny little flaw on the left side of the headstock. no big deal at all. Finish is beautiful. neck is smooth and fast, made even faster by the drool-worthy satin finish. Fret job is awesome. The only fit problem on the guitar is an off-kilter screw on the switch. I don't consider that a problem at all.

I know "built like a tank" is getting really cliche, so let's say it's built the way a guitar should be. Solid! roadworthy! The strap buttons are...interesting, but they have yet to fail me.i use leather straps, so they're no big problem. I'm sure the guitar is more worried about me failing than I am of it. I would definately gig without using a backup, because i use thicker (10-52) strings on it, and never break them. But i do bring two other guitars for alternate tunings and such.

I originally set out to long & mc quades to find a V. The second i walked into the guitar section, i saw this mahogany beauty, and as I've been told, i proceeded to play it for an hour and fifteen minutes without realizing. Now that's a nice guitar.
I did have a problem at first, with the width of the neck. It's wider than any of my other guitars. It was so bad i actually wanted to return it. Now my hand is used to it, and it's fantastic.
I have been playing electric for five years, and classical for four.
I own a hotrodded ESP/LTD EC300 (with a duncan custom in the bridge) a 30 year old sigma acoustic, and a heavily modified slammer explorer project guitar. I'm also planning on buying an ENGL thunder head to replace my current solidstate rig.
This guitar is the best value on the market. I actually spent the first day of owning it looking for where the corners were cut. I found none. if it were stolen, i doubt i'd be able to find another one with such beautiful grain, so i'd definately have to track it down, and use the ninja powers that i will eventually have to destroy the theif.
In conclusion, Godin rules. i've already started thinking about purchasing the LG signature to go with it.

2004 model parts made in Canada assembled in USA. Bought it new in Sydney NS Canada at Music Stop in March 2004. Beautiful gold color with rosewood fingerboard and mahogany body and neck. Two humbucker pickups are said to be Godin but think they might be Semour Duncan?!?, anybody? All the rest of the features are typical of the LG's. Simple and nice.

I own a Peavey Classic 30 and play mostly rock and blues. This guitar sounds absolutely fantastic. The sound while playing through the dirty channel is meaty and full with singing sustain while the clean sound is georgeous with chime and bell like clarity. The notes ring clear and never muddy no matter weather playing clean or dirty. The more I play this guitar the more impressed I am with it. I recently ordered a carvin bolt plus with dual humbucker c22's and wilkenson tremolo because I was looking for a strat type guitar and thought it may be a better rock guitar than the LG but I quickly sent it back for refund because the sound of the LG simply blew it away. (In my opinion - I know the guitars are not similar like comparing apples and oranges, but the sound quality was not comparible) The LG will absolutley smoke playing rock, blues and ballads. Probably metal as well but I do not typically play that.

I gig with the boys approx 3 times a month (no heavy giging or clubs, just casual jamming with the boys at the Jam House)and this will last forever with my relatively light use. I had one issue with this guitar. After about a month of owning it the volume pot was noticibly scratchy, but brought it back to the store where the boys quickly replaced it free of charge. So no big deal. If I were a steady giging musician I would have no problem using this as my main guitar and I believe from what I have seen it would perform very well with little worries of breakdown.

Never had to deal with them but I hear that the e-mail response is quite slow, but I am sure dealing with a high volume of e-mail's would be daunting and time consuming. The store repaired the volume pot promptly and with no charge.

I have been playing on and off for approximately 15 years and I have owned Fenders, Yamahas, Carvins, and EVH Ernie Ball Music Man and this guitar is the best value of any I owned. The EVH Music Man was a better guitar but cost considerably more (3 times more 12 years ago) and was much less versatile. I was originally concerned about the heavyness of this guitar but now I realize that it must have alot to do with the sound quality. It would be cool if they made a Floyd Rose with locking nut version. If it were lost or stolen I would replace it with another.
