I play blues/sympho-rock/r&b and use a vox amp. this instrument was all i was looking for. I wanted a unique warm sound and absolutely nothing like a strat or les paul! Her neck is soooo fast, low action and no loss of sound here. The variety of sound is huge: live i can get everything out of it by just switching picks or tones!
I play allsorts of music but wanted to get a "Queen"-sound without buying a "red special"-copy. This baby, plugged into a vox, gives that sound! Amazing! I even can get very close to an acoustic guitar sound.
Unplugged she sound great, hardly ever get out of tune and her body shape
fits straight onto mine. I cant understand why she dousn't cost at least $2000!!!

Action: there is no faster, lower and cleaner sound to get into any guitar like this! When i bought her, the action was perfect already. Perfectly routed aswell. No flaws. I've had it for 10 years now and recently i polished the frets and cleaned the element-switch.
the lock-tuners and flying bridge are in mint condition, still... It looks like she'll never wear out!

Live: great! I even play live without a back-up guitar, never broke a string. She's hard enough to take it all up by herself! Hardware: no problem! She can take quite some rock bruteness.

I emailed Godin ones, asking why it wasn't made anymore and what they think about the quality of this guitar. 10 days later i got a responce saing this model was one of the earlier ones. Godin was growing at the time and the stratt/les paul like sounding models sold better. That's why they put the very specific sounding LGT out of production. They also sait to better hold on the guitar: he price will raise, her quality is very good and she's different from the classic strat or les pauls out there.

I've been playing for 16 years now, mainly acoustic (ovation), the LGT for 10 years. The first 5 years i've been searching for the perfect sound and played all kinds of guitars before i bought one. Then i found her, i named her "the Red Goddess" (i'm dutch: godin in dutch means goddess). When i'm playing a gig: no one can carry her, i won't leave it unguarded and only thrust my guitartechnician (Klaas) to touch her without my presence. If she'd be stolen, i'd freak out! She is to me what the red special is to brian: my lady, my baby.
Maybe i'm too inlove with this guitar to see her lesser sides, but i'm also very picky and a perfectionist first class! A USA strat isn't good enough, and my Red simply is!

Mines about a 97 model.I worked in a guitar shop at the time so I had the option of buying anything.Fenders bore the crap out of me,Gibsons are badly made (wonky nuts,piss poor detail finish),Paul Reed Smith (Ok,if you are a poser)but I wanted something different and we had this in at the time.Played it and loved it!

Lovely quality Scaller hardware,gorgeous build quality and the frets STILL arent wearing.Godin build a cracking piece.They could charge double and it would still be cheap.They are so good to play I have just bought a Flat Five to go with it.I wont part with this one!

I tend to play with quite a bright tone but I can wring any sound I want out of this baby.I use a rackmount Roland GP100 for the effects through either my studio set up or an Orange head and cab but I can get everything from a lovely smooth clean sound to the dirtiest,nastiest tone on earth.Perfect.
I do experience a little noise but I am not into that clinical HiFi sound anyway.

Lovely! When I bought mine it needed minimal adjustment fot my tastes.I usually string up with Ernie Ball 9's and just made the necessary alterations.Very low action,never goes out of tune and I think I have only broken one top E string since I have had it.The roller trem take away the problem of fatigue at the point where the strings meet the bridge.I am building a custom guitar at the moment and I am copying the dimensions of the Godin neck for mine.Best I have ever played bare none.Yes,that includes Fenders,Gibsons,PRS's,Parkers etc.
The build quality is superb.I like the fact that Godin didnt feel the need to shove a slab of fancy veneer on the top.It's a working guitar and does not need all that poncy cosmetic decoration.It means business!

No problems at all.After all this time the 5 way switch is playing up a bit but thats a 15 minute job with a soldering iron.I class switches as consumable items anyway

If this thing was stolen I wouldnt replace it because I wouldnt ever find anything as nice.Guitars come and go but we all find ones that we will keep for always and this is mine.

LGT '97? ( serial starts with 97..), apparently made in Canada + USA. Mahogany body, rosewood neck, 24 frets, schaller trem, H-S-S Godin pickups and locking machine heads. Special clicking strapholders, wich are smaller than normal ones. Cream white finish with pearloid pickguard. Came with a Godin case wich is very nice and sturdy. Typical Godin body, THE BEST NECK ever!! Apparently handmade, these guys know how the make a comfortable neck, awesome.

Unplugged it is already a winner, a nice rich pleasening sound, when plugged in it sounds bright, a bit fuller than a strat, but with a pleasant treble. Mine came with stock Godin pickups wich are ok but i really think this guitar can sound even better. The humbucker can be splitted by the 5 way switch, it has a beefed up tele twang, when splitted it kind of loses its power. Middle pickup is average, neck pickup has a full strat tone. When single coil is selected it hums a bit, but less than others. I mainly play funk with it and the humbucker gives a convincing solo sound. I guess everything except death metal should sound convincing.

I bought mine second hand, it came with .008 set of strings, I quickly replaced this with a .011 wich sounds so much better. It has a low action wich makes it VERY fast. The tremolo works but since i have an original top nut it tends to go a bit detuned, replacing it with a graphite or roller nut should take care of this. This is a very well made guitar, you will immediately feel the difference. One thing though, personally I think the cosmetics could be better, while the body is cream white with matching pearloid pickguard it has black and chrome hardware. Just a matter of taste and it surely doesn't affect anything though I would have opted for single coloured hardware

I got this guitar 3 months ago and it was in perfect condition, the only scratch it got was made by me after 30 min of playing :-(. this baby can take some abuse, it feels rock solid. I use it 4 times a week and gig twice a month with it, with a backup guitar, if a string breaks it will be detuned just like every other guitar with a tremolo. Other than that this baby has my confidence and compared with a stratocaster this baby blows them all away.

Never really dealt with them, send them an email after a week thanking them for their workmanship on this guitar :-) Got a quick reply in wich they thanked me for my feedback, I can only hope that they deal with problems the same way but I got a good feeling about them

I play for 12 years with ups and downs, i have owned a lot of guitars and unfortunately a lot of them were far more expensive but made with less quality. My other guitars are a solid body Gibson 335 S de luxe prof, Starfield strat type and a Sigma acoustic. With this guitar i am able to cover the range between the gibson and the starfield, for amps i use a Hohner '64 60watt amp, a London City 100 watt head ( both all tube ) and a solid state Rath amp. In every occasion the sounds makes me happy. I use little or no effects, mainly a customized Dunlop Wah with a Marshall GuvNor and a DOD Icebox for clean sounds, so the original sound of the guitar is important for me. If it got stolen i would be extremely pissed for a day and start looking for a new one the day after, I would really like to buy some more of them but the usual stuff prevents me. If you can give it a shot cause you're likely to be impressed. I will change the pickups and top nut to make it even better, this guitar is serious value for money....

Mid 90's LGT made in Canada (of course).
24 fret, hand carved bolt-on rosewood neck, tiny dot inlays.
Solid body, electric guitar, black metallic body & matching head stock, pearloid pickguard. Body style is the distinctive Godin style (kind of a cross between a telecaster & a les paul, onlyu thinner than both.
Pup's - S/S/H stock ( houwever this one has a Lil'59 humbucker in the neck position, middle is standard Godin rail style single coil, and stock custom Seymore Duncan in the bridge.
5-way selctor blade, 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob.
Schaller floating tremolo bridge, schaller locking tuners (black & chrome).
Came with a Fender tweed gigbag & the original Godin single coil neck pup.

This guitar seems like it would be a very versitile instrument good for many styles. Great clean tones. I have been playing thru a Digitech Rp100 modeler then thru an acoustic amp. Sounds great. The lil 59 pup (which is not stock) has an awsome warm but clean tone. You can basically get any sound you want out of this guitar, except maybe the full on tele twang. This dude has the quietest pups i have ever heard. One additional note, I have never played an electric guitar that sounded so full when not plugged in. I think that says a lot about this guitar.

This guitar was purchased used from e-bay, so I don't know how it came set up from the factory. However, the set up on this guitar as it is know, is absolutely awsome. Low action, sweet neck (more on that later), all hardware set up perfect, great fret job, no major flaws. The 5 way blade is a little tight, but no big deal. Now about the neck, all Godin necks are supposedly hand carved, if this is true , these guys to an incredible job. This is hands down the sweetest neck I have ever played on any style of guitar. Chunky enough at the head end to make open chording feel almost ...acoustic, just right in the middle , thinner as you go down allows easy acces to the upper registers. 100% awesome neck.

As for realiabilty the guitar is probably 8 or so years old and seems like brand new. I play a about 4 live per week (70% acoustic 30% electric) so we will se how this baby holds up. There is zero fret ware on this baby, so either the previous owner never played it , or the frets wear like a dream. Strap buttons are rock solid and the scahller lock style. I would gig this guitar without a backup.

Used guitar so i really can't comment on customer support. It seems like Godin is a pretty small company, so I would guess their service would be good.

I have been playing for 12-13 years, and gigging regularly in church for 1? years. My main guitar is an Alvarez acoustic, but the Godin is now my only live electric guitar. If this guitar was lost I would definatly buy another, and would probably pay double the price. There is virtually nothing about this guitar i don't like. The best feature is hands down the neck, I can't say enough about the neck, very sweet.

All the same as the other reviews on this page. Mine has three Godin pickups, two single coils and a double humbucker at the bridge, all gold and black hardware with floating bridge.

This is a 10 for me in quality of sound. I play jazz, rock, pop, and it is so versatile. Playing through my V-Amp2 opens it up to every imaginable sound. I love the tones it puts out.

the neck just blows you away... thin, extremely comfortable and fast. I believe all the Godin's have hand carved necks... a real plus for me. Everything about the action, fit and finish is perfect.

It looks sturdy as any Strat I've owned.

This is probably the best guitar purchase I have made since I bought my Martin D-76 and Gibson Howard Roberts Custom (both in 1976). I can't believe this guitar is fine. And for the life of me I can't understand why they would have quit making these.

I dont know what year mine was made but it was a prototype they built it before they went into building lots of them. i have seymour the 2 single seymour duncan pick ups and a seymour duncan humbucker. I have a Line 6 spyder amp and It sounds The sound it perfect. Tons of variety I like everything about this guitar nothing bad.

The action was perfect i baught it used but it was perfect even used. The pick ups were adjusted perfectly everything was good. No flaws nothing wrong all perfect.

Yes i believe that this guitar could withstand live playing. I haven never played live but i am sure it could. Everything about this guitar seems that it will last. Finish and all. And i believe that i could use it on a gig without a backup.

I havent been playing that long. I have a line6 spyder amp. If it was stolen i would (without hesitation) buy another one. I love everything about this guitar. I hate nothing about it. My favorite feature is probably the sound quality.

Twenty four frets of glory is this one! Absolutely the best playing guitar in my collection consisting of about 14 solid body electrics. I found it hanging in a local shop and the tech told me that Godins are great guitars with only a small following in the US. I tried it out and the neck sold me the guitar. A VERY nice compromise between a Gibson and Fender instrument, the LGT looks like a TeleLesPaulStratoJunior Brian May sorta thing and has a nice pearloid pickguard. Locking tuners with ebony knobs, two Duncan single coils and a Duncan Humbucker by the bridge. Strat style five position switch. A satin finish on the stained Canadian maple body gives a really distinctive look. The neck joint and cutaway relief is the coolest thing I've ever seen for a bolt-on. Medium frets, schaller tremolo tailpiece. An ebony board on a mahogany neck. Godin hardshell case included. I even love the Godin logo. This is a $500 guitar?

My style is somewhere between Robin Trower and Jimi meets Jimmy meets Albert King. I play through a Boogie bassman clone called a "Rocket Four-Forty" and use several stomp boxes. The LGT always surprises me with it's tone and playability after I've been using one of my other guitars. It is quiet and makes all the good quacks AND has humbucker crunch at the bridge. LOVE IT. I jammed with a shipboard band on a vacation cruise and the guitar player let me use his LGT. I felt like I had brought my own. No difference whatsoever.

Factory setup was the best I've ever experienced. Put on fresh GHS 10's and flew off to Godin land. Excellend woodwork, reminiscent of Japanese cabinetry with all sorts of sexy fitting. THAT NECK JOINT is so nice. Everything was good-to-go at purchase.

I play this guitar frequently and have only ever broken a high-E here and there. The Strap stays on fine. I would only use a backup because of the floating bridge that like any strat is unplayable with a broken string.

Godin has been very helpful with this and other Godin's that I own. Who cares about a warranty? I would pay more than it cost to fix this guitar. It won't break down.

The ONLY thing I ever wanted on this guitar was bigger inlays... but that's a function of my inadequacy as a player. I frequently need to reference my position on the neck. The inlays are itty-bitty dots offset on the left side of the board. Everything else about this guitar is PERFECT. I am a Godin fanatic now, plain and simple. I see these once in a while on Ebay for under $400!!! If I didn't have too many guitars now, I'd buy every one at that price. Their Multiac and "A" series guitars are almost spiritual in their form and construction. These are Zen guitars! They make a fretless thing from outerspace with octave doubled strings (10 strings or something like that?) called a "Glissentar" that must sound amazing in the hands of someone really capable. Many of their guitars have onboard acoustic picups and MIDI access. Try a Godin if you can!

Mine is white with maple fingerboard. 2 godin single coils and 1 godin humbucker. The neck is mahogany and the fretboard is rosewood.
It has a floating Scaller Bridge with Schaller locking tuners.
The neck has a 24 medium jumbo frets...etc, etc..

This is where it shines. Nice fat strat like tones from singles and rich output from humbucker. Very versatile and great sustain. Very nice.....

Wonderful...I have 10's on mine, the action is great. The guitar feels like (and plays like) a quality buit instrument.

I bought mine used on ebay but have had no problems. Like i said, i don't see any problems coming up because it is a quality instument.

This guitar was made in 1997 in Canada and USA but mostly Canada i think. It has 24 frets medium-jumbo size. It has that coil-tapping thingy that changes humbuckers into single coils and the confuguration is S/S/H with two godin single coils (i think they are called blades) and a seymour duncan humbucker. It's neck is supposed to be a mahagony neck that only comes like once every 50 years from a special rain (but then again that was from a salesperson). It's body is silver maple leaf . Other people have said that it's les paul meets telecaster which is partly true but I HATE the telecaster look and this guitar looks nothing like them... It has a tremolo bridge and Schaller locking tuners. It came used with a strap that is old and falls off, a case (REALLLLLLLYYY nice), and a Korg g-30 tuner with some cheap cable.

i give it a 9 cause i am a beginner and i don't know much so....

I play clean sometimes (not often) but i play a lot of distortion and it sounds great with the humberbucker (obviously)... i use it with a crate GFX 15 (i know laugh all you want... i am too) and i want to get a better amp...i feel like i am mocking this guitar.. even the guy i bought it from uses it to show off his amps cause it brings out the good in it!!! It sounds great for having year old strings on it: i wonder what it'd sound like without the dull top year old strings and with more the bright, crips new high e (don't laugh at how old my strings are!!!

i give it a 9 cause i know it sounded great in a marshall with new strings when i tested it out... i had a tough decision deciding whether to get a fender standard strat but now i wonder why cause it sounded alot more.... ummm... full i guess... so i give it a 10 for better than any i have played... which are only strats but still alot better

i bought it used so it was just fine except the nut needed lubing but the guy did that already

i give it a 9 because if there was anything wrong at first i would never know so when i got it is was just fine but there mighta been something so...

It seems very sturdy and i think one guy down there even said he spilt coffee on it but nothing happened externally or internally!!! about 3 months after i got it i made a small but large enough to maybe notice dent... i could see the would but it doesn't look bad and nothing around it is peeling and the trans blue color is just great... the strap are solid (does anyone really care)... i don't know if i would use it on a gig without a backup cause i never have gigged!!!! i am too much a beginner

Thanks for your letter, The LGT features a rock maple neck, rosewood or Maple fingerboard, 24 3/4" scale 12" radius, medium jumbo frets, schaller trem, Silver Leaf Maple body and is Made in Canada and the US. The pickups are special design Godin Pickups that give you lots of different sounds due to the 5 way switch which splits the humbucker. The Humbucker may be a Seymour Duncan since we had a few differnet models it varies. The color is Trans-Blue. I hope this helps. The warranty is one year to the original owner. However should you have any issues feel free to call us.

And i emailed them again asking about string gauge recommendations and the next day the replied with the answer... on the site they said it may take a while and it did but since they were truthful and nice when i said thank-you i will give them a 10

i have been playing for 9 months and i own a crate GFX-15 (ahahhahaha) but i wanna get a line 6 spider which i hope will make it sound like it's supposed to!!! i think i would definitly (think and definitly? oh well...) buy another one except maybe cinamon (red)trans for only 750 at kennelly keys if it were stoleni love it's easy locking tuners and its wide variety of styles.

i am a beginner but i hope i helped other people but if i didn't sorry i wasted your reading time with a bunch of beginner garbage... i give it a 9 cause it wouldn't be right to give every category a 10...well i guess i'll try but i hope they let it through

Canadian made guitar, 24 fret neck with a wide and flat rosewood fingerbaord, attatched to body by four reccesed bolts, a very snug fit it is too. Solid canadian maple body finished in trans red with a pearloid scrathplate holding a godin humbucker at the bridge and godin singlecoils at the middle and kneck positions. these are controlled by one volume and one tone control and a five way pickup selector. hardware is by schaller and consists of locking tuners and vibrato equipped bridge. the body shape is sort of les paul meets telecaster. came supplied with plush hard case and a selection of allen keys for adjusting truss rod , bridge intonation, etc.

Play mostly hard rock and for this , this guitar is excellent. The bridge humbucker sounds brilliant, very rich and full of harmonic content my bass player thinks this guitar sounds awesome when played through a cranked up marshall and I have to agree with him. the singlecoils sound like your usual strat tones from shimmery chords to that classic out of phase honk and quack. I might replace the kneck pickup with a stacked humbucker.

not much to talk about here, the guitar came well setup the only thing i did was to lower the action slightly and fit a new set of dean markley lights (9 to 42 ) and away she went

Had this now for about one and a half years and it gets gigged a fair bit and there are no problems to report, appears to be standing up to the rigours of the road very well.

Been playing now for the best part of thirty years , what other gear i own is of no importance what is important is thatt this guitar, sound and qualitywise, could take on any strat and blow it into next week, and also makes a gibson look very silly indeed considering they cost about three times as much. and before anybody accuses me of being biased i must point out that i do actually own a lp and a strat. The kneck on this guitar has to be one of the fastest knecks in the buisness, bloody incredible ! go out and buy one of these now and do yourselves a favour.
