dont know when it was made it was made in canada 24 frets rosewood fingerboard mahogony kneck i think the body is solid maple its pretty heavy and is finished in the most incredible trans blue showing offthe lovely grain. godin humbucker at the bridge and single coils in middle and kneck position. schaller bridge with whammy bar and schaller locking tuners. also lovely pearloid scratch plate. kneck profile is shallow with a wide and flat fingerboard scale is 24 3/4"

Sound : 10
i play everything from country to heavy rockand this guitar can do them all very versatile especially good for rock tones i dont know who makes that godin humbucker but it can really dish the dirt!and that flat wide kneck takes a bit of getting used to but when you do it really is lightning fast. the sound is sort of les paul meets strat very ballsy. quite a heavy guitar too probably due to the solid maple construction

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
no complaints here except for one very small gripe, when using the whammy bar to the extreme, top nut pinched the D and G strings but that was soon remieded. bolt on kneck very nicely done very , very snug fit

Reliability/Durability : 10
this guitar is very solid gets used about three times a week in a gigging situation no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them cant comment

This guitar has a 5-way selector, H/S/S pickup configuration, schaller locking tuners, 24 medium-jumbo frets, maple body, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard

Sound : 10
Summed up in one word: Wow! I'm using this guitar with a Peavey Classic 50 4x10" all tube amp. As far as effects go, I use a Vox wah, TS-9 for a lead boost, and Boss DD-5 Digital delay in my effects loop. This guitar really sounds amazing. The humbucker in the bridge combined with the single-coils give me the versatality that I need. I was going to buy a Fender American Standard until I came across this guitar. The single-coil PU's are so much fuller and sweeter than the Strats I've tried. A Strat just sounds brittle and thin in comparison. The humbucker sounds amazing. I spent $90 a while back on a Seymour Duncan JB for my old washburn and the Godin humbucker makes it sound like crap in comparison (which I never thought I would say). It puts out a very full, smooth, but yet ballsy sound. I just can't believe I spent so much money for the JB before! I play out pretty much every weekend in a rock/blues/pop band and it sounds great. Even with all the pickup mods I did on my previous washburn, it doesn't sound nearly as good as the LGT. The mahogony neck combined with the maple body gives a unique warm and full sound with a lot of bite.

The guitar was actually set up really good as is. It came with 9 guage strings and I ended up switching to 10's. After I switched to 10's, it took a little while for the guitar to "adjust" to the new string tension and would sometimes go out of tune during a gig. But after a week or so of the having the 10 guauge strings on, it hardly ever goes out of tune. The neck joint is perfect. The pickup selector switch is a little dirty and I get a lot of noise when switching between pickups (which I do a lot live). I've just been too lazy to actually open up the guitar and clean it. :-)
As far as looks go, this is truly a beautiful guitar. It has a cream finish with gold hardware and a pearl pickguard. Great craftmanship. The woods are of very high quality and the schaller locking tuners really help to keep the guitar in tune. The only thing different I wish it had was a fixed bridge. I don't really use a whammy bar and bending one string will cause the other strings to go flat while it's bent since it's a floating wilkinson type of bridge. This makes double bends sound slightly out of tune. Maybe I'll buy some extra springs to lock down the bridge. Other than that, it's great.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As I said before, I play out a lot and this guitar is completely reliable. The LGT seems very structurally intact. A very solid guitar. I plan on playing it for many years to come. I would never gig without a backup guitar no matter what guitar I had. You always have to be prepared.

I wrote an e-mail to Godin one time asking about the finish and it took a while to get a reply. A one-line quicky reply at that.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for about 6 years and this guitar is the best that I've played. At least for my tastes. I love the versatality I can get out of it. I've played countless Strats, Les Pauls, Ibanezes, ESP's, and others and I definitely like this guitar the best. The only thing I would maybe want different would be a fixed bridge. But other than that, it's perfect for me. I'm still amazed that I got this guitar for $700 w/ the case. I really think I landed on a goldmine. I'm sold on Godin guitars.

This is a Canadian made / assembled in the USA guitar with a solid maple body and a mahogany neck with 24 medium jumbo frets . It has a S/S/H passive setup , the model I have (1997 I believe) has Godin pickups. It has Schaller locking tuners and a vintage type Schaller Trem tailpiece. The closest I can come to describing the body style is to say that it's kind of a Les Paul / Telecaster with Strat electronics which is just what I wanted. What really make this guitar stand out is the way the string vibration is transfered through the body. The thing really vibrates which translates into tone and sustain! The neck has a 16" radius and has a slight learning curve. Then there is no going back! You really have to try one to believe it! It's FAST! And it comes with a nice case. The only reason I give it less than a 10 here is because the nice , thick , rosewood fretboard on mine was apparently rubbed with some "ebonizer" or some such thing which keeps turning my fingers shoe polish black as it comes off. It's fading with time and repeated cleanings though but is irritating. I cannot pin this on Godin however as I bought the guitar through the auction and don't know.

Sound : 10
I like to play a country rock , blues , and a little classic rock type stuff and the LGT is great for variety! It really sings , squanks , screams , squawks , roars , twangs and so on. It is not a Strat , Tele , or Les Paul , but after having the LGT for a couple of months , I don't miss any of the above at all and I have owned all of them and then some. The two single coil PU's are noisy as can be expected and the Godin humbucker is quiet and just fine. I ordered a Seymour Duncan for it but if it never shows up , I won't mind. I play it through a Line 6 "Flextone" and the variety is almost too much! Seriously!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was a bit high for me and I lowered it a bit but left it quite high as with the Godin neck it's still fast and it helps the guitar sing. The guitar is very well built with the only flaw being a nut that pinches the strings badly. Even with the recommended strings any serious whammy action will throw it out of tune. Lubing the nut is a MUST and does clear up the problem. My LGT is cream colored with white PU's and black tuners and bridge. Not fancy but very nice looking. Almost too nice for me.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I no longer gig but used to a lot . I would trust this guitar with no hesitation as long as the nut was lubed. It is built and then some!

Customer Support : 9
I e-mailed Godin about the black frets and got a prompt reply. They weren't a lot of help with the problem , but were prompt an courteous.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing on and off since 1966. I have owned Harmonys, Gibson SG's and Les Pauls , a Strat and a Tele. I wanted a GOOD hybrid guitar . I wanted a Les Paul with a tremolo . This is better. I do not miss the other guitars , not any more. I would cry if I lost it and would replace it with a Godin , maybe an LGXT. It's that good. I wish it had a graphite nut . That's all. Considering what I paid for it though a definite 10 here!

The Godin LGT is (as far as I know) a Canadian made guitar, it looks something like a Telecaster meets a Les Paul, but has a H S S pickup configuration and a five way selector switch, more like a Strat.
The body is "light maple", the neck is mahogany and the fretboard is Rosewood. Mine has Godin pickups, I believe the new models have a Syemour Duncan humbucker instead of the Godin Tretrad (I think) that's in mine.
Standard sort of frets, 21 of them. Floating Scaller Bridge with locking machine heads. Transparent finish and mine came with a case.
Not really many extravagent features, but that's not really what this guitar is supposed to be.

Sound : 10
OK - I play metal. I tend to have bright/midrangey sounding guitars, but pull the mids out of my amp settings to get a mean sound. This is without a doubt the best sounding guitar I've ever played. Through my Mesa Tremoverb or Crate Stealth it gives a crunchy yet ballsy heavy rock distortion sound, with the single coil in neck position you get that smooth "bluesy" sound.
I doubt they designed this guitar with metalheads in mind, I bought it when I thought I was done with playing metal. If it handles what I do so well it should be pretty damned good at the more respectable forms of music that it was designed for.
Fantastic for clean sounds although that's not really a big deal for me.
I love the sound of this guitar. No complaints at all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This is a nice, classy looking instrument. Looks out of place in the hands of someone like me! Mine has the cinnamon transparent finish with the maple wood, no fancy flame top or anything, but still nice to look at.
The pickguard is that "mother of pearl" look.
Nothing fancy, but nothing wrong either.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I haven't used it live yet, but I intend to in the near future. I'd never play a gig without a backup guitar (gotta be prepared for anything), but I could see myself using this guitar for a whole gig with no problem.
I spilled a cup of hot tea over it once and did no damage to the finish or electronics so it must be reasonably durable :)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never really had to deal with Godin, but I did email them once and got a quick response...... Don't know anything about the warranty, luckilly I never needed it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played guitar for 10 years. My previous #1 guitar was a Hamer Centaura, which cost a lot more - I think the Godin KILLS it!
I love this guitar. LOVE IT. When I was trying it out the sales guy was unhelpful, almost rude - really not interested in talking to me. Reluctantly he lets me try the guitar, I ask "how much?" expecting it to be about $1600 - he tells me "$1000". I play it a bit more and ask again "How much did you say this was?" at which point he realises I am seriously considering buying it and starts giving me the sales pitch: "I can sell it for $1000, with a case... Here try this blue one, or this......"
I cut him off "I like this one, put a strap on it, stick it in a box and I'll be back in 5 minutes with the money". That was it, didn't even try to beat the price down (so I guess I paid more than I had too), but I don't give a shit, this is the best guitar I've ever played.
What more can I say?
