I think that most people looking at this will be pretty familiar with the basic features of this instrument but just to recap.....

Contoured single cutaway maple body with maple top, finished in 'Black Pearl".

Medium width/depth mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and medium frets.

Custom RMC tremolo bridge with transducers to handle the Piezo and Synth Access features with locking tuners.

"Designed for Godin" Seymour Duncan humbuckers with coil tap. 5-way pickup selector.

Volume for guitar with separate volume for Synth and tone control.

Graphic EQ for RMC transducer

3-way output selection switch and up/down selector switch for synth patches.

13 pin synth output, 1 x normal guitar jack output and one mix electric/transducer jack output.

Normally only comes with a soft gig bag (WHY????), but luckily mine came with a Gator hard case.

Probably one of the most versatile instruments on the market today!!

Rated this 9 due to stupid policy of not providing a had case as standard, otherwise would have been a 10!

Sound : 10
Bearing in mind the different voices the Godin is capable of, probably best to treat these separately......

Normal Magnetic Pickups:

First, let me say that the biggest surprise I had with the sound of this instrument was BEFORE I even plugged it in. I have never in 35 years of playing (yes I am that old) heard a solid bodied guitar with such a rich and musical acoustic sound. There are no odd resonances or peaks to be heard. Just a rich and even bell-like sound with amazing sustain (I'm starting to sound like Nigel Tuffnell now..).

Once plugged in, things just get better. I read a load of reviews before I bought this guitar and the SD pickups seemed to get mixed reviews. I have to say that I think they're superb. They're fairly hot (similar to my '91 Les Paul) but not over the top. The neck pickup has a slightly jazzy vibe but with a whole lot of clarity. There's a lot of depth to the sound but it never gets muddy. It retains it's clarity when used with higher levels of gain and cleans up nicely when you drop back the gain.

The bridge pickup is really punchy and warm but without going into stratospheric levels of distortion. As with the neck pickup, the distortion cleans up nicely when you drop the perfectly placed volume control back a bit.

Both pickups have a coil tap option with gives a pretty useful extra dimension to the sounds available. I use this quite a bit for more funky rhythm sounds rather than mess about swapping to a strat in the middle of a gig. This is the only the second guitar I've ever had where the coil tap was worth having. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't instantly turn the guitar into a Strat or Tele. If you want that, buy a Strat or a Tele ;o). But it does give a very useful additional range of sounds to an already flexible setup.

So, how to sum up the overall sound? I'd describe it Jazzy/Bluesy but with a hell of lot extra punch available (think Robben Ford on steriods). So much so, that I'm looking to start up a Blues/Rock band on the side so that I can really let it rip.

My current 'collection' of guitars includes a 91 Les Paul, 04 Firebird V, Gretsch Double Anniversary with TV Jones pups, 83 Standard Strat, Yamaha MSG and various hand built custom instruments.

This is the best sounding guitar of the lot - I kid you not!!

Transducer:

Hmm....... not quite as good as I was hoping initially. It sounds pretty thin, no matter what you do with the graphic. So..... I got to work with my trusty Boss GT-8 and with a mix of the compressor, EQ and the tiniest bit of reverb, I now have a patch set up that sounds pretty decent. I'm not a fan of the typical Piezo transducer sound and with judicious knob twiddling, I've got a pretty passable "mic'd" acoustic sound. It was well worth the 90 or so minutes it took to create the patch.

Synth Access:

Let's be honest, this is the main reason many will people buy this guitar......

What can I say, it does exactly what it says on the tin! The tracking is brilliant. Way better than my Strat, which I thought was doing a pretty good job with the GK-3. The sales blurb about this being designed for synth access is no hype. It really does work VERY well.

If you're considering one of these guitars, don't just buy it because of the synth access. It's an amazing sounding guitar in it's own right.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I'd rate the build quality pretty high. These are a mid to upper end priced instrument and the finish reflects that. The action was set pretty high and I couldn't get it down to my normal ludicrously low setting without buzzing, so I got my regular guitar tech to give it a going over and it's come back with an amazingly low buzz free action. This is critical as fret buzz causes problems with the Synth signal.

The neck is a bit chunky for my rather small hands. However, Godin have a trick of profiling the edges of the neck and frets in a way that makes it very comfortable to play. In theory the neck should be too chunky for me to play comfortably, but this profiling trick works a treat and for me, this is now one of my fastest guitars for lead work. Other guitar builders take note.....

I chose the 'Black Pearl' finish, as I found the other finshises nice, but a bit gaudy for my taste. The paint job is excellent as is the fit and finish across the rest of the instrument.

Overall the finish is excellent and rather better than a new Gretsch Anniversary I bought recently!

Reliability/Durability : 8
I never play without a backup. Having once broken the headstock off a late 60s Gibson SG at a gig (no I wasn't having a Pete Townshend moment..), let alone the risk of breaking a string here and there, I know only too well that you can never predict what might happen at a gig. In most respects the guitar seems pretty tough, but I note that some people have had issues with reliability. This one seems OK but I've only had it 3-4 months. Early indications are that the two mini toggle switches might be a weak spot goiong forward, but time will tell......

The tremolo is a bit prone to cause tuning problems if you get too carried away. That's even with my guitar tech having set it up. No dive bombs for me then.........

Based on these points, I'd give this an 8.

Customer Support : 10
I noticed in a number of other reviews, Godin got a bit of a kicking here. All I can say is that for me, they have been brilliant in providing some technical information I wanted relating to the wiring of the 13 pin socket/lead. They even provided me with a contact at RMC who make the transducer and Synth pickup and they in turn were excellent. I can only speak as I find. It has to be a 10!

Overall Rating : 10
I mostly play live in a covers band in the UK and gig regularly. We cover a huge range of different styles play material by bands as diverse as The Beatles, Free, Steppenwolf, Jamiroquai, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Queen, Abba, Fall Out Boy..... you get the idea. Therefore, I needed something that will handle all these styles as well as provide synth access to drive the Boss GR-20 I use live.

For the covers band I normally play through a Boss GT-8 and the GR-20, straight into the mixing desk and then take a feed from the mixer subgroups to a 350w p/channel Peavey power amp and then into a pair of Yamaha PA speakers. It might seem an odd setup, but it allows me to blend the guitar and synth sounds in full stereo and produce a truly awesome wall of sound! For all other projects, I use the GT-8 through a MesaBoogie 100 watt Dual Rectifier Trem-o-Verb combo.

Until recently I've been using a Fingerbone custom Strat with a set of Seymour Duncan 'Everything Axe' pickups (wonderful set by the way) and a GK-3 for the synth. I needed something that would work as a backup/or main instrument depending on how well it worked out. The Godin has exceeded my expectations in almost all respects and is now my main gigging guitar. The funny thing is, I still think it's got even more to give as I get to grips with mixing the different features available.

If someone stole it, I'd hunt them down, rip their ears off and stuff them up their nose. I'd then go and buy another one in a heart beat.

Guitars are deeply personal things and one persons love affair is another's tragedy (what are they putting in my tea?!?!?). I bought this instrument so that I'd have a good backup for my main live guitar. It now IS my main guitar live guitar and is likely to remain so. What more can I say........

Mine has all the usual LGXT features listed. The color is a brownburst. I use the electric and acoustic pickups together all the time and they are processed seperately from one another - each with its own signal path starting with the guitar's seperate outputs; (not the combined single output jack.) This is finally approaching the sound I've been hearing in my head for so long. I am going to go synth with this soon as well.

Sound : 9
The seperate processing setup described above works very well for me. Kind of a drag to remove the simplicity of minimal knobs and switches and a single cable of a "plain" electric. One has to mentally deal with a few more complications while using the LGXT's features, but I think it's worth it. It can't really do the strat thing as well as advertised, so with my straty background, I had to reconsider my thinking. With the whole acoustic combining thing available, it took me about two years to really learn how to use and process this guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Action, fit and finish are all great. The fret buzzing some reviewers have experienced can probably be fixed with a truss rod adjustment. This has happened to me a couple of times and a careful adjustment has always cured the problem. BE CAREFUL! See a pro luthier or adjust at your own terrible risk.

Reliability/Durability : 1
A really bad rating for this category I'm afraid. Constant, cronic noisy pots and a flakey 5-way switch, unreliable and way-too-fragile plastic - impossible to repair output jack/circuit board assembly with a stupid non roadworthy design.....flakey locking tuners with too high a ratio, a nut that binds and grabs strings making tuning more difficult and troublesome than necessary. I think that's it. But here are the solutions to all above problems:
Replace all pots with quality ones. My model came from the factory with a 500k linear taper volume pot and I replaced it with an audio taper, which is more like it. Replace the 5-way switch with a quality one. The tuners are up to you, but I'm gonna replace mine with a more traditional less-artsy-more-farsty design. And then...Oh boy... the output jack circuit board 13 pin assembly thing....NOTHING BUT TROUBLE!!!!! A fragile, impractical design of this section has rendered my guitar mute. A do it yourself repair can lead you to disaster if you're not careful. My cry for help from Godin who replied: "We have a factory modification that swaps the L.R Baggs piezo bridge with an upgrade made by some other maker. It costs $360 plus shipping." This reply didn't address the real problem described. Also, I thought I had a warranty. I just want replacement parts that I can install myself but this seems literally impossible. WHY? I have worked around this problem with some sloppy but effective soldering, but I'm having trouble once again. Finally, replace the nut with a Slipstone nut. Sheesh...

Customer Support : 1
Customer support is snooty and evasive to my questions and requests. Hard to get ahold of on the telephone and most emails are not answered. They are also snooty when meeting face-to-face at the NAMM shows.

Overall Rating : 8
Believe it or not, the combining electric and acoustic method I'm using has probably made me a Godin user for life. If ony I didn't have to modify their product so much. I wish they were helpful to such a loyal fan of the SOUND of their product, but they are not.

Godin LGXT AAA Flamed Top 3 Voice Electric Guitar. I got it in 2007.

Sound : 9
I play a little of everything from chicken pickin' country to thrash. Right now I'm using several pedals with a Peavey ValveKing 1X12 Combo Amp. My set up includes- Guitar>Dunlop Cry Baby Wah>Boss CS3 Compressor>Ibanez Tubescreamer>Amp Input>Effects Send of amp>BBE Grande Boost>Marshall Regenerator>Boss DD-6 Delay>Effects return of amp. (I know the valvekings get a bad rap, but they're great with a few pedals) I also use a Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth. I think the sounds are great. I can get a good tone from the guitar for just about everything except for country, but it's not really made for that. I play in a 3 piece progressive country/classic & modern rock/blues & funk band and it really fills the sound out when the electric, acoustic, and synth voicings are used at the same time. The synth tracking is excellent and the piezo sound is about as good as a solid body electric with piezo's can sound. This guitar has great rock and jazz sounds. You can get a few strat sounds out of it as well with the ability to split the coils on the humbucking pickups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
This is the problem. The guitar came with a gig bag. For $1700 I was expecting at least a cheap hard shell case. I bought the upgraded hard shell case, which is nice but should have came with the guitar. The intonation was 1/4th of a note flat. I was able to adjust that with about an hour of my time. When I tried to lower the action like my telecaster, the strings became really noisy, especially with the piezo output on. I was however able to significantly lower the action from the factory settings, but it's still a little high for my tastes. (no fast chicken pickin'country licks on this guitar for me) The locking tuner for the high e string doesn't lock correctly. (The tuner lock does not tighten down). After changing the strings, I have to stretch the high e string for about 20 minutes before it stays in tune. The back of the neck isn't glossed like my Fender tele and strat is, so it feels really rough. My wife doesn't even play guitar and she noticed that. The neck is also really big, but if you like Les Paul style guitars that probably won't be a problem. The good side-The finish is really great. People compliment me on my beautiful guitar all of the time. All of the switches and hardware works correctly. Everything has worked correctly after 8 months of continous playing. All in all, I'm more impressed with how the different voicings work rather than the aspect of the playability of the guitar itself. With this being a Les Paul style of guitar, I'm probably just used to the thin neck of my Fender Custom Telecaster. But, that was adjusted by a professional luthier, and I haven't taken the Godin in to the shop for anything.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've only played about 10-15 shows with it, but so far it's great. So, I'll just comment on the reliability up to now. Having a guitar with so many features makes me wonder about the reliability, but so far it's been excellent. The finish hasn't started to fade at all and everything works great. The strap buttons seemed sturdy, but I bought and installed strap locks the first day I got it. I do use it without a back up. Even though I like my tele a lot better, it's easy to bring this than to bring my strat(with a roland gk pickup), my telecaster and my takimine acoustic.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to contact customer support.

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing in bands for over 15 years. Even though this isn't my favorite guitar to play, it's by far the most versatile. I love the versatility and it has a gorgous finish comparible to some of the PRS guitars I've had a chance to see. The playability has a little to be desired, but it's not like playing a mexican made fender squire or anything. It's still pretty good. I think it should have came with a hardshell case. If it was lost, I would consider buying another, but maybe would try another brand if I could physically play it first. I bought this guitar for the versatility alone and I am very happy with that aspect of the guitar.

This has to be one of Godin top models.
A beautiful flame top finish, locking tuners, seymor duncan pickups.
Nice detail, fit and finish.
I believe this was a 2004 model, which I bought last year on Ebay.
I am currently shopping for my next Godin, either the steel or nylon Multiac with SA.
As I was reading the reviews on this model, I just wanted to add a review for any fellow synth musicians out there considering an LGXT

Sound : 9
I use a GR-33 connected to my new Traynor K4 (awesome amplifier)and play the piano, organs, and a little horn with my coverband.
I also get to rock out on some numbers with the electric guitar running it thru either a Korg or Yamaha (all-in-one) pedal. Thats always a work in progress, as every time you turn around theres another stomp box!
I prefer the tones I get from my Strat, but as I have used this guitar over time, I am finding some tones/patches/settings that sound pretty good.
I also use the piezio to add a little prescence to the guitar sounds, or sometimes more by itself to fake an acoustic sound for those places I play rythmn guitar.
I frequently mix the guitar and synth in various ways. This is a technique that I have become better at having used the GR33 for several years.
The guitar is a powerhouse of sound and the possibilities are endless.
I give it a nine, only because the strat guitar sound is still better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used, and haven't felt a need to tweak any of it.
I suppose if I took it to a Buzz Feiten (spelling?)guitar tuning expert, he could make it even better.

If you've read any Godin reviews, and anticipate playing the guitar with a strap...BUY STRAP LOCKS...and absolute must.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It has held up nicely, as I play out 3 to 4 times a month and the locking tuners seem to do a nice job of holding their position.

Customer Support : 9
I wrote them a few years ago and they got back to me with the information I requested.
I am confident they would respond with some honest customer service...a lost art in today's world!

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing since 1964. A week after the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan, I was taking lessons!
I think that 68 Gretsch has to be the nicest guitar ever had, but this Godin is a hands down winner.

not sure which year, but it was built in america but the parts are from canada, 21 frets etc, all the features are covered. It is the "gold" colour, that they dont make any more, like the regular LG. This is a VERY versatile guitar. The godin case that it came with was impeccable, i love it.

Sound : 10
this is such a versatile guitar. It can cover anything from my hair metal band rat snake, to jazz chorus tones for college type stuff. The sound is just overall amazing, very full, and the single coils you can get some aamazing cleans out of. I havnt been able to try the synth yet, becasue its 900 $ for the gr 33, which is made of plastic, go figure :/ (if ANYONE CAN TELL ME OF A SYNTH SYSTEM LIKE A RACK SYSTEM OR SOMETHING WITH 13 PIN ACCESS COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME ), but there is a studioo at my college with a gr 33 and hopefully ill be trying it out soon. I sold an lg signature for this guitar, and i am glad I did.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
the setup was perfect, and i just messed around with a few things to make it more for me. i looked for a long time and i couldnt find any flaws, other than a little paint blotching inside the pickup holes(they paint inside them, as well as in the back and where they rout the bridge. but other than that, nothing. And its not like that even bothers me (Y). but another little thing I dont really like is the locking tuners arent doing their job well enough, but still pretty damn good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this will withstand ALOT of punishment, if yuo dont attack the EQ for the peizo, becasue they seem pretty fragile. i know this guitar will be very solid because i had an LG signature, and never had any problems the entire 2.5 years i had it.

Customer Support : 7
havnt dealt with godin very much, only asked them a question about a white LGXT a long ime ago, and it took them over a month to answer.

Overall Rating : 10
this is one of the most impressive guitars ive ever played, the only thing i would consider buying other than godin for my main guitar would be either completely custom from warmoth.com, a carvin from carvin.com, a zachary guitar, and ed roman guitar, or a parker, But they are all rediculously expensive, and for this price you cant beat it. If youre looking for more of a cheaper priced guitar, i would suggest looking at the XTSA, also a very great instrument and has most of the same main features as the lgxt.

some gear that i have is :

ibanez rg350dx (with a steves specail in the bridge and some other cool mods)
fender american standard strat with a dimarzio hs-3 in bridge (a mistake)
peavey classic 30 with celestion vintage 30 in it, as well as JJ el84 power tubes and EHX 12ax7 preamp tubes (this fucker screams)
visual sound jeckyl and hyde overdrive (meh, its decent but i like the 30's tone better)
535q wah (dunlop)
dan cho danelectro delay
EHX small clone
EHX graphic fuzz (out of commision. damn cheap "distortion switch"
fender dg-10-12 12 string,
epiphone acoustic
grate gx212 (crap)

and i am sure a tonne of other things, but whatever. I suggest buying this guitar FOR SURE, you honestly dont even need to think about it.

The features on this guitar are second to none, It's just a pity more manufacturers dont make guitars with other "built in" functions (with the the exception of the ibanez rg1620x & the roland ready strat). Nice jumbo frets, nice fat body sound, and the seymours are A1..I like the active option as well..always produces a nicer sound in my opinion . but dont use the trem ...its crap

Sound : 10
I play mainly rock type stuff & covers & this baby is perfect for my needs. The acousic sound on this guitar is nothing short of exceptional and when u plug it into a VG8 EX or any other "Virtual" instruments, It shines!!. Think if plaing songs like "teenage dirtbag" using the acouctic peizos, then whack up the normal pick up volume for the chorus....het presto 2 guitars for the price of one!!Guitarists in the audiance were looking at me as if had 3 heads..one pretentious twat even accused us of playing to backing tracks untill i very delicately explained to him thats i was using 2 leads for one guitar. Now i use a transmitter I Keep the volume pedal for the acc off & only plug it in when i need it. Even sounds great thru a shitty P.A.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Unfortunately this is where the shit hits the fan. This is my 3rd model as the first one had a fatal at the heel of the neck so that no matter how many fret stonings I had done, it always choked unless the action was ridiculously high. Then the 2nd had no piezo sound. The 3rd replacement had no heavy E-string piezo sound and had 2 be sent back 3 times as some lazy bastard technician at godin decided to send it back without even looking at it, then the 2nd time they opened it said it was repaired, then send it back. They also let the neck get wet which cost me a small fortune to fix but I was just glad to have it back ..........PURE UNADULTRATED FUCKIN LAZINESS ON THEIR PART!!!!

Reliability/Durability : 8
so far with the 3rd model, so good..we got there in the end..........

Customer Support : 2
Sorry godin, but this many fuck-ups dont Mean many points in my book , when you pay over #1000 for a NEW guitar you expect it to be perfect. Thank God for the local dealer who actually did bend over backwards to help me, even getting me the number for the Godin Rep.... only then did I make any headway. IF YOUR GODIN FUCKS UP , TAKE IT TO A LOCAL LUTHIER , DONT SEND IT BACK!!!!!

Overall Rating : 6
I wouldnt buy this guitar again for the sole reason of customer support, you never know when you need it, now that I have this guitar playnIg as i want it to, its my number one instrument, apart from the useless trem, this is why I mentioned the ibanez rg1620x. They do kick ass when set up right.

Bought in 2001, paid $1200 Canadian (southern Ontario),22 fret, 3 voice, AA flame maple top with sunburst finish, ebony fretboard, floating wilkinson type bridge with trem, locking tuners, mahogany neck, hard case included.

Sound : 9
I love this guitar. I traded a G&L Asat classic when I bought it. The neck is thinner and comfortable. My G&L had warm sounding hot rails on the bridge so it took a little getting used to the bright sound on the LGXT bridge pickup. But they are plenty powerful. I mostly use the split neck pickup for routine playing then switch to full bridge or full neck for solos depending on the sound I want. It's great to dial in some acoustic as well. I also use the Gr33 synth with it. I like throwing in a tin whistle part or saxophone . The sound guy gets confused sometimes between my guitar and the keyboards. Great fun.I find I can get just about any sound I want. I use a Boss GT6 processor for effects and between that and the guitar, the sky's the limit. I do find that the LGXT does not feedback as readily as my G&L did. I also found that there is some kind of natural harmonic in the guitar body that "bucks" the G fequency. It's strange. A G note played anywhere on the fretboard (other than an open string) will not sustain while all other notes will. It's like some natural vibration in the body stops the string from vibrating. However it's not noticable enough to interfere with normal playing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The set up seemed fine when I bought it. I lowered the action slightly to my taste. I found that after about 1 year I had to replace the volume and tone pots.-they were getting too noisy. I may also need to replace the selector switch - very noisy-needs frequent spraying with anti stat. The finish was beautiful. The tuning is good . I find it tunes quickly with new strings and stays in tune very well. I use 10's and do a lot of bending.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I like the look of the guitar without a pickguard. I don't bash it around or do windmill chords or anything so I'm sure it'll last well. Once while playing, my strap came off and the guitar headed for the floor.I lunged to catch it but missed and instead hit it back down as it bounced off the carpeted floor.--not a scratch--just a jammed finger.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't contacted the company

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 35 years. I like trying different things. I don't want to buy a strat just because everyone else buys one. I like the guitar because of the way it sounds and looks and feels. I think if I buy another guitar I will certainly not trade this one . It's a keeper. A year ago I would have said the best feature was the versatility but now that I've been playing so much, it's best feature is the comfort and easy playability. Yes if it were stolen I'd get another one. A friend of mine has the the Flat 5. It's pretty cool too. hmmmmm.

Features : 10
My LGXT is a three voice with the standard electric guitar output, a synth (13 pin) driver, and an acoustic (piezo) output. The guitar also features locking tuners which seem to have a lower ratio than standard tuners. This is not a bad thing. It is also loaded with the standard Seymour Duncan pickups. It is their standard LGXT in a tobacco sunburst color.

Sound : 10
I play music in a wide variety of genres and have been playing for 25 years. Without a doubt the most powerful guitar I have ever seen in my life. First, the electric output, I play mostly on the neck pickup and sometimes go for the faux strat sound. The variation in the neck and bridge pickups is too wide for me and if the neck and middle selector positions are dialed in for optimal sound, the neck pickup is way too hot!!! For that reason I don't use it hardly at all. I would rather have to pickups that compliment each other a little better. Synth Driver, tracks the Roland GR-33 to perfection. My only confusion is that the output seems to be very hot too. You set each string up for optimal performance and I have found that I have to set each string on the minimum output and still can overdrive the GR-33 if I play too hard. The only real gripe that I have with the LGXT synth drive is that when I recieved it, the "patch up" switch was in the down position and the "patch down" switch position was up. Rotating the switch was an easy fix here. Acoustic output - No doubt it is not a replacement for a quality mic'd or DI'd acoustic, however, if used properly it does the job and can add another dimension to a clean sound to compliment the electric out. I always run the acoustic out directly into the mixer or an acoustical amplifier. It does not sound good IMHO through a guitar amp. This guitar can produce 3 different dimensions of sound that when combined are beautiful.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I was somewhat disappointed in the quality of the hardware on my guitar. Within the first 6 months the volume pot picked up a dead spot between 20 and 70%. Also, two of the three knobs were mal-adjusted so that they were actually binding on the guitar body. I had to adjust those and it made a huge difference. The action is not the best I have encountered but is still quite playable. The finish on the guitar is beautiful although the neck has a flaw that I would have held up if I were the QA Inspector. Thank goodness we have a solid dealer on the Mississippi coast that stood behind the product.

Reliability/Durability : 7
The instrument hasn't let me totally down yet. I have used it as a stand alone instrument on many gigs and frankly don't have another that could take its place. Because it has had some minor problems I can't rate it higher than a 7 though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have not dealt with Godin on this guitar but I am dealing with them on another guitar ACS that the bridge popped off. This guitar was in my home only 3 months. My dealer had been great in supporting Godin products.

Overall Rating : 9
If this guitar was lost or stolen I would replace it without question. I enjoy it so much I bought the Godin ACS Nylon. When I am playing a variety of music I play the Godin. If I am performing with my band then I am playing strictly guitar and I play my PRS Custom or G&L Comanche. I use the LGXT a tremendous amount in my studio and it has opened up a whole new world for me. I have recorded entire songs using the LGXT to supply all instrument sounds with the exception of the drums. Godin's quality control seems to be a little shabby so I would prefer to examine one of their instuments before laying down the cash for it. In the end, the positives greatly out weigh the negatives. I don't want this review to sound all negative, I just want to be honest. It is a great instrument that fills a specific area of the guitar slingers world.

Only one thing to say.

PERFECT NECK!

Sound : 10
I like to play a very wierd "salad" that include hard rock, progressive, world music, flamenco, metal, tango, etc etc.
The piezzo only sounds good if you are playing with the humbuckers too, don't be fool to dream that a solid body guitar will sound like an Ovation, or something like that, but it's a nice tip to play clean tones with humbuckers and a little bit of piezzo, that adds some acoustic string sound.
I don't play synthetiser still. Sorry, I can't say nothing about it.
The humbuckers are strong, sweet, warm. Normally I like Di Marzio's, but these Seymour Duncan's are VERY good.
For me, they are perfect!
Don't believe the comercial stupidity that you can do the Stratocaster's job, it's a big lie.
It doesn't sound similar, only a strato-like guitar can achieve the sound, for example, at the bridge, the pickup must be in a different position that makes the caracteristic sound of the Fender's guitars.
But nice lie, if you are enough deaf to believe something like that!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Let me explain why I give only one to thew rating.
The guitar is an excelent design, the woods are beautifull, the gold paint it's incredible too, but my guitar came with a SERIOUS, VERY SERIOUS problem at the handmade work.
It was very poor carved, and has some many work deffects under the paint job that I believe the man that worked that day may be was drunk!!
It's really a shame for a $1700 guitar!!!The high price is because I'm live in Latin America, with so STUPID high taxes.
Sorry, Godin folk's, pay more attention next time, your guitar wasn't "superbly hand finished", like you say in your web page.
Very noisy pickup selector.

Reliability/Durability : 9
It's a briliant concept and a very beautifull guitar.
You can trust on it.
I personally don't go without another guitars, but I said before, i like a lot of styles, I need different instruments, the Godin can not do the job of my Strat, for example.

Customer Support : 1
They openly said that they no will response personal mail.
Idiots.
It's a shame.
Ovation customer support, for example, with a problem like I had with finish, could resolve sending another body for the guitar. Simple, profesional, clean and honest.

Overall Rating : 9
Great guitar, I had

2002 lgxt from canada/usa. 2 seymore duncan humbuckers; custom custom custom and jazz. locking tuners. hard case included. i don't know of a more feature packed guitar. acoustic, synth, and great electric sound!

Sound : 9
this guitar will quite simply do for all styles. i play manly 90's rock, but have been known to spread my musical wings a bit, primarily due to this guitar and its huge range of sounds. brilliant fierce bridge pickup, fat round neck pickup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
buit as solid as a rock, though i have had to lower the action a little since i got it, but considering that it had had to cross the atlantic, i cannot begrudge it at all

Reliability/Durability : 10
without a doubt the most solid guitar i've ever played. no fender or gibson even comes close. gorgeous AAA flame top, well finnished, definatly gig without backup

Customer Support : 6
i once enquired about upgrading my synth, and was concerned weather or not it'd be compatable, the company replied quite quickly and politly. not really the guitar itself i know, but...

Overall Rating : 9
when i got this guitar, it was a choise between the godin or a used parker fly delux. two very different instruments! but ultimatly it was the sheer solid build and great synth acess that swayed me. don't get me wrong, i did like the parker, and if i had the cash i'd get one aswell, but i just prefered the godin, and i don't regret my decision at all. bit pricy though (i got a discount buying it together with a GR-33)
