Mine is an Early Canadian made model. The body is Basswood and the top is a red sunburst quilted maple. I've never seen a better looking guitar. It has three blade single coil sized humbuckers. They're Bill Lawrence pickups. There is one volume control, one tone control and a 5 way switch. The volume control pulls up for single coil sounds. The tuners are locking Schallers. the bridge is a Wilkinson locking tremelo. The neck is birdseye maple with an ebony fingerboard and is just perfect. The frets are medium.

Sound : 10
I'll play anything except jazz on this. Every amp I've ever used it with sounds great. There is no noise at any volume level, or with any pedal. It can get virtually any sound, and I like every single one of them. This is literally the perfect gig/recording solidbody.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything about this guitar is perfect, I can't change a thing!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Not only does this look great on stage, but it weighs nothing and resonates like mad.

This is my favorite company. I actually sent an e-mail to Guitar Player Magazine praising this guitar, and then got a surprise phone call from Brian MacDonald, one of the people who runs the company with Robert Godin. Any e-mails I've sent about my other Godin guitars have been answered promptly.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 35 years. I've owned a lot of guitars, but my search for the ideal electric solidbody ended the day I got this. I also sold my les paul and a 335 after I got this. I own a number of guitars, and 3 of them are Godins. The others are various archtops for jazz, and a strat with a sustainiac in it. My backup to this is a Godin G2000 with a maple neck. I think any Godin with a Maple neck is a steal and that they are the most underrated guitars on the market. I just got a Jazz Multiac SA because this company does such good things. If this was stolen, I'd have to hunt down and kill the person who took it. I just wish I had it in every color (yeah, I know..greedy bastard) Maybe they'll hire me after they read this!

I think this guitar was made in about 98, I'm not quite positive though because i bought it used and they weren't sure about it. It has a 5-way selector and the usual volume and the tone knob that you can pull out for a different sound. It has 3 double humbucker pickups and the bridge is a Wilkinson. It has the birds eye neck. It is shaped like a strat. It has Nonlocking tuners that i was told are extremely nice. It has 22 frets. It came with the original hard godin case.

Sound : 9
It suits my style great. I just play whatever i feel like at the time and normally thats classic rock. I'm using a old peavey tube amp the Triumph 60 and a smaller newer peavey amp the Rage 158. It never seems to be noisy, except sometimes on the disorted dirty settings there is a slight hum. It has a very full rich sound, when compared to a 2004 usa Strat it sounded much more rich and full. The guitar can make great sounds especially if it has a whammy bar. I like pretty much everything about this guitar I've never heard anything better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action is great....it seams the factory set it up really well. The pickups seemed to be adjusted well. The bridge and top are very nice. The wood is outstanding, along with all the hardware. I had to had intination set once because someone had the bridge set at a bad angle, but it was bought used so thats probably why. Now everything on it is very nice and working well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm sure this guitar would definately outstand live playing....my guitar teacher is in a band that plays live all the time and actually asked me to let him borrow it for one. I'm pretty positive the hardware will last forever ive never had one problem with it. The finish definately seems to be lasting...it is thick and full. The strap buttons are solid. It is a very dependable guitar and i will never switch to another one....this one is like my baby...I would be devistated if i lost it. I would use it on a gig without back up if i had to....but i would always have extra strings and stuff...and just incase some freak thing happened i might have a backup guitar.

Customer Support : 9
I just e-mailed the company today to find out more about my guitar because i bought it used and don't know a whole lot about it. I don't have a warranty because of buying it used. And ive never really had to get anything but the intination fixed.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing guitar only a few years. I originally was looking to buy a Fender American Strat but i compared it to this and decided this was better. If it was stolen I would most definately try to get another Artisan st or another Godin, if not that then a fender strat. I love pretty much everything about this guitar.

I think it was made in 98 in Canada. It has 22 frets. It is a solid top with volume, tone, and 5-way selector. The pickups are Seimor Duncan (3). I don't know the electronics very well. It has a maple body, bird's eye maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. The finish is transparent I beleive. Body style is that of the strat. The bridge is Schaller I think with full tremelo capabilities (includes a trem-setter). The tuners are locking Schallers. I think the frets are thin, but I know little of this. I think the strap locks are Schaller, and I have both a hard case and a gig bag from Godin.

Sound : 9
I like to play everything. For jazz, it is smooth and rich. For the blues, it is quite adequate. For harder kinds of music, it seems a little weaker than I would like (maybe I need a hot rail later on). For Reggae music, it is great for me because it has low action and my hands never get tired of the same barring positions. I play through a Johnson JM60 amp in stereo with a small cabinet (with a 12 and tweeter). I have almost any effect I could want, short of strong and heavy stuff. I have not had this amp for very long, and I might not know all that I could about it yet. I like it all enough to increase my play time each day by an hour on average.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
THe action is low. I would say perfect. The dealer I got it from owned it before me and played it a lot. He was also my teacher, and he knows what I look for in the feel of it. I waited for months to find the perfect Godin guitar after I decided that this was the company I am most impressed with. Although they no longer make this model, I am OK with playing something slightly outdated if it feels right. My teacher is really good with the electrical adjustments, and he balanced out the pick-ups nicely. Before he did so, every other configuration was weak. This was probably quite inconvenient, as I don't know from personal experience. The top is AA, and it had some character scratches when I got it (nothing nticable unless you're very picky). All the other things have been great, but I did need to get that trem setter installed. It was a great investment.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I have used this guitar many times playing out. The only back-up guitar I had was my Ovation acoustic. I restring it more than once a month on average, and I would say it is very dependable. I haven't owned it for more than a couple of years, but it all seems to be put together well.

Customer Support : 10
My teacher deals with the company all the time. He has a small store in Northern Michigan, not far from the Godin manufacturing places in Canada. He goes there wuite often, and as I understand it, he is a good friend of many that work there. Everything I have heard about this company has been glowingly good, but there are very few Godin dealers in Michigan (as it is a newish company). When I need something adjusted or repaired, I take it to my teacher (who has also employed me as a teacher, so I guess I work there). I guess I have a serious bias I didn't realize before now.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing every day for ten years. I play an Ovation acoustic, the Godin atrisan st, and an Art Luthier classical. I have the Johnson stereo amp with programmable effects, a Crate amp that just won't die, and many music writing/recording programs for my computer. I have had many other guitars, but none have played as well as these. I played Gibsons, Fenders, Peaveys, Ibinezes, and other crappy guitars before. Never again. I swear it. If the Godin were stolen, I would replace it with a Godin or a high end PRS. I love how this looks, feels, how little it wiehgs, how easy it is to blow all over the place, and that I got it at a great price. I wish I had found it sooner, but all those other guitars helped me to appreciate how good this is.

Canadian/US made, 22 frets, 3x SD Little 59, cognacbusrst, Schaller 2000 tremolo, Schaller locking tuners, and all you need (hard case, imbus keys etc.

Sound : 10
very rich and full sound, great sustaaaaaaaaain, good for all rock/jazz application, very versatile

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Godin says it is handcrafted and I can say: all was perfect, only a little tunig was needed after openning case and you can play. All is done in excelent quality... only one problem is Schaller 2000 floating tremolo, I hate this, when you want to shift tone, the other strigs are going off tune... and Schaller locking tuners are not best... so I will give to Godin 10, to Schaller 6

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
all is OK, after two monthes of everyday playing, but it shows nothing

Customer Support : No Opinion
no problems, no needed support

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I thing Godin are great guitars... if you do not want to spend money for brand on the neck and you want execelent guitar, go for Godin. Just now I am thinking about second guitar, maybe it will be Parker Fly, maybe another Godin... I will see, just now it looks for me that Parker Fly is more "sparkling", but it can be only in my minds.... I have had many guitars incl. orig. US Strat and Godin is the best guitar in my life... it is fully comparable with "big brands" including Gibson SG or Les Paul, but on better price

I'm now sure of the year, but it's a Signature Series Artisan ST, 22 frets with a maple top, birdeye maple neck, ebony fretboard, with a nice orange sunburst(they have a specific name for it) and it just looks amazing! It has 5 different pickup positions and includes 3 double bar humbuckers. It's a body style is about that of a strat, but it has a nice arched maple top on it, which looks just so sleek. It's got locking tuners and a Wilkinson bridge which is half floating, and have stationary. Soon as you turn the whammy, the bolt comes off the back plate and you're free to whammy up or down. It stays in tune a lot better because of this, but it's kind of a pain if you want to change guages. So hopefully you've got your own guage that you always use, but I know I kind of like to experiment. Like sometimes I just 9's or 10' but lately I've been getting a mix, so I get like 10-52 and I find that works well for me because I like a bottom end chunck, and I love fat warm chords. It's a very versatile guitar, I can play anything from metal to jazz with this thing, and it sounds beautiful, good amp or not!

Sound : 10
This has a very warm sound to it, not too bright but it can be if you want it to be. It's got a great acoustic sound if you pull the tone knob which cuts out the mids, and gives you more of a single coil sound. If you turn on the bridge pickup role the tone knob back a bit and crank the gains on your amp you get some nice real chunck! If you role the gain down, turn up the tone knob a bit and you get a nice "classic" tone. It sounds good for whatever type of sound you need, I'd recommend it to anyone. The only complaint I have is that sometimes when I pull the knob I get a weird background noise..but very fait. I think it's circuit problem, and it's been like that since I bought it used.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Like I said nice sunbirst orange with a maple top. Everything was great no complaints and the action rides nice and low.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had it for 3 years now, and I had it brought in to the local music store just for a little bridge adjustment(this was when I first got it and I was scared to do stuff with it hehe), and I had it cleaned up nicely. This thing is really something special, I don't even need to bring a backup guitar, all I bring is a cheap Tele just incase I break a string.

Customer Support : 10
I had lost one of the allen screws and I asked for some and they sent me them, as well I asked for some specs of the guitar(cause I bought it used) and just wanted to know what kind of pickups(they only said Godin on them) and minor stuff like that. They replied in a day or two, and the service was great and friendly.

Overall Rating : 10
I got this thing for a great deal, I don't think the music store knew the actual price value of this guitar because it has an AAA top, which means more detail was put into than the regular Godin's. I've seen this same guitar listed for 1200 US, and I bought for 700 Canadian..so it was a steal!!!
