My first electric- Les Paul shaped flat top (black). Two passive humbuckers. Two volume, two tone knobs. Tuners are crap. Three way selector.

I played alternative music at the time (pearl jam, smashing pumpkins, etc.)and the two humbuckers were pretty descent. It always sounded good through a 10-30 watt practice amp- good thick sound, although I never played it through anything big. I later put a new humbucker in the bridge position that was brighter, and that made it even better(it did however sound awesome as is it originally was).
Action, Fit, & Finish

It was solid black. A pretty rugged finish, but I ended up painting over it. The tuners are pretty much crap. If you have any others sitting around that fit it, use them, otherswise its not bad for a cheap guitar.

It's just an awesome guitar to jam with. I wouldn't use it for a gig. It has never let me down, and I'll never get rid of it (your first guitar is priceless!!), but I have never played any shows with it.
