07 model....remake of the famous 59 gretsch tennessean used by chet atkins....shown on the cover of his 'workshop' album...one tv jones powertron pickup,.,,one volume knob and one tone switch..i have never missed a second pickup or more knobs...this is the gretsch equivalent of the fender esquire..basic and deadly.....mine has pretty bad set of chinese grover stat-tite tuners...i will change them someday...but it stays in tune very well..the tuners just have a cheap loose feel....wont last long probably....bar bridge...bigsby...the neck is superb....100 times better than the pre-fender gretschs.,,a very solid and resonate guitar.

Sound : 10
i love this guitar....it sounds amazing...the powertron is a good name....to me, it does not sound like a paf, which is sorta what the word is on them, it sounds like a huge gretsch..it cuts...it is sweet...it will bark..it will purr...the tone switch is sweet, in the middle it is neutral..flip it down and get a treble boost...flip it up and get a slight bass boost...none of that useless usual mud sound...very cool...bravo gretsch/fender...i get some amazing tone out of this guitar..

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
ok....mine was new..and it needed a tweak or two,,,,still does....the zero fret is cool...i like,,,but the nut (which serves as only a string guide, basically) was cut way too narrow in the slots....any strings bigger than a 9 set and they were hanging up like crazy in the slots...i had to file them bigger,,...also, the pickup requires some leveling...the pole pieces are very tall and close to the strings and small adjustments make big changes....you have to dick around with it to get each string volume just right..i tried several string gauges....10s would not work...on some gretschs they work fine..not on this one....they flap too much and tuning is a booger..this is not a 6120, although it may look the same...it plays slightly different...not in a bad way, just a little different...all my string problems changed when i put on a set of 11 gauge tomastik light gauge nickel flatwounds.,,,oh mercy..this here is the tone...this is the sound of god...bending is no problem either....and they hang in tune really well, from the very start....they give your fingers something to dig in to but they feel smooth.....sound is huge...thru a good tube amp...heaven.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i like everything about it..except maybe the tuners...i gigged with it several times...people love this guitar...me too....and it looks really cool too..and its not heavy to hold up...the finish is not thick...not lacquer but not thick...a lovely flagstaff red.....very nice job....it is sound as a pound,.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i dont know about warranty...but at my age, i dont care...

Overall Rating : 9
i got this guitar new , at a rock bottom price...i think people are afraid of a one pickup gretsch....i am not..and you should not be,..,.if you can play well, this guitar will exceed your demands...great fretwork...i have had no problems..just a lovely vintage feel in a new guitar....i think i slightly tweaked the neck at first..the action is way low...and the strings dont pop out of the bar bridge slots like on almost every other gretsch ...and the bigsby is oh my god good...i have had my fill of old gretschs that need major surgery just to be functional....i may buy another one of these guitars...
