2003 recreation of a 1958 anniversary model from Gretsch. Custard yellow arched top. Copper mist (metallic green) back and sides. White binding on body. Neck unbound.
To my eye this is a fabulous looking guitar. completely out of the ordinary.
Aluminium (?) roller bridge. No fancy-dan adjustable saddles here.
Floating bridge mount(ie it will fall off if you remove all the strings). In Gretsch's defence there is a booklet that mentions this.
Very large heel on the neck - playing high up the neck is out unless you go thumb-free.
Bigsby Trem with string mounting poles on the reverse. Absolute bugger to string until you try the folded cardboard wedge method (also in the booklet).
TV-Jones classic pickups. Hard case. screw on strap retainers.
It's very big. Makes a Les Paul look like a toy guitar.
Outstanding pickups and overall a tremendous package. This is a very special guitar.
Currently not available new, although the cadillac green hardtail annies are still in production.

Nothing beats it for range and power. Convincing jazzer and monstrous rock sounds. Predictably perfect country and rockabilly twang.
I use it with Amplitube and Guitar Rig sims.

Shipped nicely set up from the shop in West London. fret 13 is slightly proud on one side of the neck. needs a tap with a hammer. Everything else is perfect.

I have the usual suspects - Les Paul, PRS, Stratocaster.
I play this guitar 90% of the time. Nothing else comes close. Not only does it sound imense but it feels great and looks great. did I mention the accoustic sound? you can play unamplified. I've recorded it with a clip on mike just inside the f-hole and it sounds good with a bit of eq.
I've had it for three years now and I can't imagine being without it. I liked the pickups so much I've ordered a Spectraonic supreme from TV Jones.

Made 2003, TV Jones Classic pickups, beautiful bamboo yellow and copper, (more like
bronze) ebony fretboard with pearl thumbnails. Big Gretsch body but easy to handle
I got this on ebay and a Gretsch strap was included. Tooled leather with a cowboy belt
buckle encrusted with faux gems. Gretsch has a definite Cadillac mentality but it works
and these guitars are real gems. I like that this color is different from that orange that
everyone wants. Good case.

I can't see how you could get a better sounding Gretsch. The TV Jones pickups are the
classic Gretsch sound. Never knew rich, full tone could also sparkle and sing. It was what
I hoped. I played a good sounding White Falcon but the look of it up close, the gold sparkle
and plastic toy white color was obscene. I half expected a pink pony stencil on the back.
I'm learning how to play this thing. The tones are more sophisticated than I'm used to.
It took me a week to figure out the pickup switch and tone switch. Which was which. I happily played with them, finding new sounds. I wish it had a tone knob for finer adjustment but, it is what it is.

This is clearly a professional instrument. Couldn't find a flaw on it and it was five years old when I got it. Those crafters in Japan must have a code that to build something less than
full quality dishonors the whole nation or something. I feel like I have to change my whole
way of approaching the guitar. I gotta quit that swamp blues thing and start learning some
chords with way too many black dots. This guitar handles chords like no other. No Betty
Boop stickers for this baby. Maybe The Signing of the Magna Carta on the back. Gotta
start shopping for a new wardrobe to go with this

No question it is good for playing out. People would be lucky to hear it. Durability?
I'm pretty sure this will be in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in about fifty years, just
as it is now. This fine piece will compel you to take care of it.

Playing a long time, professional musician. Have a lot of classic electrics, this is my
classic Gretsch. I play through an AC 30 and Fender Deluxe. It is about as good a Gretsch as you can get. They don't make them now but they seem to be available on ebay. I played a bunch of Gretschs looking for a great one. They were all $2500 and up, up, up. I got this
for $1300 which is a steal. If you can, find one. They sound and play the way they are
supposed to. These TV Jones pickups are a marvel.

I am very impressed with this guitar. The price is fair-1399.99-and the look is cool. Copper mist sides and back with a cream yellow top. I have played a Tennesean, and Country Gentleman and this guitar is way better to my ears.
Sound

The sound is what sold me. I could not put it down. It gets that Johnny Cash bite to it-a Beatle sound too. TV Jones pick-ups are much better to my ears than the other Gretsch offerings. I cannot say enough about the sound. I have a '66 Rick 330 which I love, but this Gretsch is a must have guitar for a more twangy sound.

It plays fine with good factory action. The strings are a bit lite for my taste and the floating bridge is something I will have to babysit. It stays in tune though and that is a must for live playing. I trust this guitar-no worries.

The other guys have listed the specs.
I bought mine online in late 2005 and had a nervous twelve-day wait while it travelled from Milwaukee to the NSW North Coast.
The colours are indeed very tasteful, the mud/muddier tone switch is of dubious value, and when everybody else in town is playing a Strat, guess who's the odd man out?
But it all comes down to two standout features: the TV Jones pick-ups and the Bigsby.
Sound
:

Simply the best sounding pick ups I have ever heard, and I am a lifelong single-pole Fender devotee.
Through the Vox Ac-30 it's a meaty but bright blast of sonic brilliance.
Through the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (with Reverb on 2 and full Presence)it's Chet in heaven.
The rocking bar bridge is about as primitive as you can get, with all kinds of potential intonation issues, but a little swoop on the Bigsby and this guitar sound is all of God's Glory.

The guitar (inside its plush hard shell case, inside a sturdy Gretsch carton) travelled around the world to me. With the strings loosened, the bridge had moved in transit. An online consult with Warpdrive and the Gretsch Pages soon had me twanging away with an idiot grin on my face.
Action is super, finish is faultless - the Japanese take enormous pride in their workmanship and deserve praise and respect. You can buy guitars online, sight-unseen from the Gretsch Professional series with confidence because their quality control is so good.

This is not the guitar you hand around the campfire for everybody to have a bash at. This is a beautiful instrument. I won't use a pick with this guitar - it's a finger-picking monster for a start (although in twenty lifetimes I'll never catch up to Chet) but I don't even want to scratch the pickguard! It's great live - I just take very good care of it.
I always take a back-up guitar with me. A broken string shouldn't stop a show (and changing a string on the Bigsby can be slooow work!)

Touch wood, no need.
I live in the country and have not yet had the chance to get it to Sydney where my mate the Guitar Whizz (Dave Scotland - big raps!!) can give it the works.

Since 1968. 2 teles, a strat, a Gibson ES-135, an Epiphone Casino.
I'm blessed to have the Bamboo Annie.
If I had to replace it I'd probably step up to a top line Setzer 6120 - same pick-ups, Bigsby, but the orange flame maple and the nitrocellulose finish - mmmmmmmmm, that's the holy grail!

This guitar is the Gretsch 120th Anniversary model. It's features include a Bamboo Yellow top with Copper mist back and sides on a 16" wide single cutaway body. This guitar is very similar to the 6120, but without all of the frills. I was apprehensive about ordering a yellow guitar at first. I knew it could be sweet or disastrous, and by disaster I mean school bus yellow or big bird yellow. You never can really tell by a picture. But I'll say that as soon as I opened up the case and took a look at this guitar, I loved it. The bamboo yellow has a perfect elegant yet vintage look. No camera can do this guitar justice. Anyway, on to other features...
The guitar came stock with many different upgraded options from lots of other Gretsch's, which was very nice, conisdering it was a good bit cheaper than its big brother, the 6120. This guitar comes stock with a Bigsby tremelo, rocking bar bridge, TV Jones Classic FilterTron pickups, Grover Sta-Tite Die-cast Tuners, and a very plush deluxe hardshell case.
This came from the line of Japanese made Gretsches, which means absolutely nothing. The 6118 Annie looks and feels nicer than so many American guitars that I've played. It seems assembled extremely well, and when I pick up the guitar to play, it just feels expensive...important...substantial.

As I picked the guitar up to strum it at first, I noticed that acoustically this thing sounds great. It had a nice singing quality to it for a semi-hollowbody, with lots of clarity. I then sat down to test drive it through a Top Hat Club Royale 2x12 combo, which is a beautiful mix between a Vox AC-15/30 and a Marshall 18 watter. I with I had a Fender on hand with lots of splashy reverb to try it out with, but unfortunately I didn't.
After I spent a little time dialing in some good settings with the amp, I was amazed at the TV Jones pickups. I previously have owned one a cheaper Gretsch with cheaper stock pickups and I could never get them to sound good. They were dark and heavy sounding, really a bit dull and lifeless. BUT, not these TV Jones! They get a perfect amount of clarity and body, making them a very versatile pickup combination. They seem to have the fullness of a humbucker with the character of a single coil. Gretsch also gives you a 3 way tone switch instead of a tone pot. I've heard mixed reviews about these, but I love it. It seems like in the down position, there is a pronounced prescence, then in the middle it seems normal, maybe a little scooped, and then to the top it sounds like the highs are rolled off a little. All very useable though. This sound of this guitar is what I've been looking for in a humbucker guitar. I've always been a Fender/Gibson guy, and thought I'd never want to get rid of my Les Paul, but this guitar can cover so much ground! Blues, Jazz, Rock, Country...the Gretsch can cover it all!

Guitar was set up perfectly when it came in. Action was a nice medium height, and the neck feels great. The frets were normal medium frets instead of jumbo frets, which is good for me because I don't have the longest of fingers. I don't have a single complaint about this guitar as far as playability goes. It feels great!

This instrument was made in March 2004 (I purchased it new in January 2006). It's the stock guitar components and finish. It has a suprising amount of versatility, though it does take a little to get use to the control arrangements if you're a lifelong Fender/Gibson player like me (1985 Japanese Strat (totally modified), 2000 American Strat (completely stock), 1982 30th Anniversary Les Paul Goldtop, 2002 Les Paul Wine Red Les Paul Deluxe). Everything works as advertised.

I'm new to this kind of instrument and discovering how much of my style has been looking for this guitar for years. In general I'm a blues/indie rock/alt-country/jazz player. So far, every style of music I play seems to work on this guitar - it's surprisingly versatile. And, it has the most mind-blowing sound through my Vox AC30 and 1972 Marshall Super Tremolo - literally had those amps on 2 and when I cranked the guitar up for a solo I heard the most amazing, ballsy sparkling guitar tone I've ever experienced. If God were auditioning guitar players I would show up with this guitar and leave the others home.

I've been playing for 35 years (could it really be that long?) and have played hundreds of gigs and played in many bands, cover and original). From above you can see my electric 6-string equipment - I also have a '59 Bassman reissue, a 1972 50 watt Hiwatt half stack, and a red 100 watt JCM900 Marshall (great clean sound, but the dirt is way too processed sounding for my taste - I definitely prefer my old 100 Super Trem using a Marshall Speaker Emulator to burn off some of the excess watts). If this axe were stolen I would expedite the insurance check to get the replacement asap. I compared this to an ES335 and felt that I could defer that purchase because this guitar was way cooler. I still would like an ES335 some day as well as a Tele, but they can wait.

This is a 2004 Gretsch 6118T-120. It is their 120th Anniversary model. Knowing Gretsch, the Anniversary models were called the "Poor man's" 6120. This is anything but that. It lists, and sells for basically the same price as a 6120 and has feature that go beyong the 6120. The first thing that is seen is the incredible color combination of this Guitar. Copper Mist sides and back with a Bamboo Yellow top. Creamy is the best way to describe the vibe given off by the visual of this axe. Laminated maple top and back, maple neck with an ebony cap, 24.6" long and 2.5" deep.Grover stay-tite machine heads, a rocking bar bridge and a Bigsby BC6B Tailpiece make this one rocking guitar. But the incredible thing about this guitar is the TV Jones Filter'tron p/u's. Originally put on the Brian Setzer models, the TV Jones is a handwired boutique p/u made in the USA. It is very close ( closer than the Japanese Filter'Tron's)to the original Filter'Tron's that made rock history. This came with a deluxe hardshell case. This guitar lists for $2850, and sells in stores and catalogs for about $2350. I have seen it on e-bay for $1800. HOWEVER I went to a company in Milwalkee that I bought a Electromatic at for an incredible price. They are a large Gretsch dealer and have B-stocks ( GUITARS WITH SLIGHT BLEMS) and last years models. They had a 2004 ( which is ident to a 2005) and I got it for the unheard of price of $1350. Lucky me...that is a once in a lifetme price.

The TV JOnes Filter'Trons rock the boat. They have more mids and lows than a single coil Dynasonic but can still Rockabilly with the best of them. This is played through a Fender 65 Super Reverb reissue and is noiseless and dreamy-creamy. I used a varity of high end boutique pedals and also use a 72 Les Paul Deluxe, an incredible Fender Strat and a Gretsch Electromatic ( w Dynasonics.) I will be buried with this guitar

I have used this guitar live with excellent results. It is a professional model guitar and well worth the money even if I paid $2000 instead od $1350. The Gretsh starp buttons still are the best thing going for guitar security. I could easily bring just this guitar to a gig and play everything on the set list.

I used to own a couple of 1960's Gretsch Anniversay models, but sold them when I just wanted to blow the doors off of venuse I was playing at. Needles to say I really missed those guys. This more than makes up for my loss. I know it's not a 40 year old US model. But it also doesn't need to be overhauled and it didn't cost me $5000, so I feel like I got way more than I paid for and I know that when it is plugged in and played through my amp and pedals, it would be very hard for anyone other than an expert to tell the difference between this Gretsch and a 1965 model.
