This is a reissue of the 62 White Falcon Double Cutaway. The guitar is a statement in itself. The Cadillac of Rock 'n Roll. Laminated Maple body and Maple neck. Ebony fingerboard.Filtertron pickups. Vintage style roller-bridge. Bigsby Tail. All hardware in gold. Snow white finish. Backpad cusion. The neck position markers can get lost in all the gold surrounding them when the stage light are bright, but it's that blink-blink that makes her the queen of electric guitars. Thank you Fred Gretsch.

I send her through Twin Reverbs or Peavy Classic 50's. With respect to modern times, I usually hook up a TC Electronics G_Sharp FX for a little Reverb, Slapback or a Chorus and Phaser now and then. Nothing modern and flashy about this sound. Clearly a concept from the beginning of the electrified instrument. The Maple construction offers a highly percussive, transparent response that rings like a bell. Gretsch's unique Filtertron pickups cater exelently for this nature of tone, filling out the bottom and shimmering over the top. Traditionally, the Gretsch 3/way toneswitch MUST be left in midd-position. Everything else sounds a mess. The remaining controls offer a great variety of tone. With the appropriate amp the Falcon will give you anything from Chet Atkins over George Harrison up to Angus Young, always staying true to its own unique tone. Mind you ; The Falcon is old school. She doesn't want to shredded or ultra high gained. Anything above a solid rock crunch set-up lacks substance. No Death-Overdrive here. Neither do the relatively thin frets cater for extreme bendings, but are more suitable for slidings and hammerings. She's an old girl and will be taken with grace.

Gretsch sent this Falcon with 10" Strings. I put 11" on and find it suits the guitar better. Everything was set up perfect. Not a flaw to be found. The Paperwork was good. They have a long waiting list...................it took months to come.

Nothing to worry about as yet. The Bigsby makes string on stage changeing a little worrying. It takes a few minutes untill everything settles down again. Take a backup.

I've been in the business for 25 years now. I've seen and heared them all, but a good Gretsch through a fine amp is still my favorite. Apart from being an eye catcher, these guitars are the most versitile I know. You can do almost anything with them.
