Grosh Guitars Carve Top Custom

Here are the specs: Strat style Carve top, mahogany body w/alder top, scrape binding, mahogany neck (medium V) rosewood fretboard, vintage trem with locking tuners,frets are 6105's, 2 zebra coil splitable tom holmes hums. The color is TV (translucent) green.
Don will pretty much build the guitar the way you want (as evident by the alder top and color) so this is a 10 as I picked the specs. (with some help from Don)

After going through alot of guitars that promised fat tone with clarity (PRS, Anderson, Gibson) and not being satisfied I gave Don a call to see what he could build me to cover this. He recommended using an alder top over a mahogany body& neck but using a strat scale lenth. I also wanted a trem and 2 splitable hums (these are Tom Holmes pickups). The tone is huge, fat, sweet and super ballsy with tons of sustain but no mush. It sounds super whether clean or dirty. It pummeled my PRS McCarty and Anderson Cobra, those guitars sounded weak in comparison. Notes bloom from the guitar, seriously the tone is as good as I have heard (and I have heard or owned just about everything). I sold 3 guitars aftr buying this because they couldnt compare.

This guitar has a very unique finish which is a version of the TV Les Paul JR but using a very wild looking green color that was actual a garden tool that was found in the woods and Don matched the color. So I guess I would call it TV garden tool green. The TV finish involves using contrasting grain filler (its translucent) and looks amazing, to my knowledge only Don & Mike Stevens are doing this type of finish.(This is what I call custom !!!!). He also uses a nitro laquer finish which allows the guitar to resonant (as its very thin). The guitar played and looked amazing, super tight neck pocket and one of, if not the best fret jobs in the high end business. Don's fretwork spoils you. Another thing is his trem, I guess he modifies a stock gotoh but whatever he does is works, we are talking divebombs and massive abuse and perfect tuning. (try that with your Anderson vintage trem) I would put the stability of Don's trems up against any floyd. The icing on the cake is the fact that the guitar still sounded amazing and had sustain even with the trem. The Tom Holmes pickups are top notch as are all the components.

This guitar has gone to gigs,studio sessions and rehearsals and has not let me down. It plays & sounds consistently amazing and has perfect tuning stability. (I also have another grosh that has taking 3 years of abuse with no problems.) The reaction of people who play my Grosh's is always the same (where can I get one).

Don is as cool as you get, he is laid back but very helpfull and somehow manages to build these amazing guitars that have total vibe and soul. He is a true custom builder and every aspect of his guitar does what it should. He truly goes the extra mile and it shows. I gave him a 10 in every category because he deserves it. Anything from super strats, carve tops and even basses he is the man !!!
