Had the unusual problem of the G&G case not fitting the guitar properly. I emailed customer service and they replied right away. Seems mine was the second case they have had that did not fit quite right. They immediately shipped me a new one which fits perfectly and arranged for FedEx pickup of the old case at no cost to me whatsoever. The entire process was quick and painless. I also called them regarding some setup questions I had and the person I spoke to was knowledgeable and friendly. Hats off to Grosh for being a great customer oriented company.

Mine is an Electrajet Custom, SN 34, born about a year ago in March 2008. I bought it brand new. Alder body, maple neck with rosewood board, 6105 frets, 1-5.8??? nut, medium round back neck profile with 10??? radius, Kluson locking tuners, two Lollar P-90???s, 3-way toggle, volume & tone pots, black finish with tortoise pickguard. Gotoh vintage tremolo set up with the bridge flat on the guitar. I have heard that this setup helps transfers string vibration to the body and enhances tone. I would imagine that the trem could be adjusted to let it float but I have no intention of doing that. It sounds absolutely killer the way it is. The body is amazingly light weight and comfortable to play. Don did a fantastic job with this design.

Sound : 10
The Electrajet Custom comes with different pickup options. Mine has Jason Lollar P-90???s which are nice and midrangy. I was surprised how powerful the pups are for single coils. They have as much power and drive as most humbuckers. Push ???em a bit and the guitar has a nice growl with a gritty blues edge. Roll off the volume a little and it sweetens up and rings clean and clear. Very versatile. I believe the coils are reverse wound. There is the expectes slight single coil hum when playing the pickuups individually, but the hum is totally cancelled when both pups are engaged. My amps are a Carr Mercury, a Carr Rambler, and a Clark tweed amp. My effects are an Analogman compressor, a Fulltone OCD, an HBE analog delay, and an Analogman chorus. I???ve yet to play the EJ though a high gain amp but hope to do so soon.

As with all Grosh guitars, the construction and finish is immaculate. It was set up just right and required no tweaking whatsoever. The frets are dressed to perfection. The only guitars I've ever seen with similar fret quality are my Michael Tuttle guitars. All the components Don uses are high end. You can buy an EJ Standard for about $800 less than I paid for my EJ Custom. I've not played one, but I would expect it to be well built too.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Built to last. I am no longer a gigging musician but still play often in my home studio with a group of fellow old timers who like to jam. Under that type of use, I would expect this guitar to last throughout my childrens' lifetimes. I have no doubt that the EJ could be a working musician's guitar and thrive on it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No experience. The rumors I hear are that they are fabulous to deal with. I have no doubt that they will be available and helpful in the unlikely event I need them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've owned too many guitars to remember in my 40+ years of playing. Some have been good and some not so good and some have been great. I feel that the Electrajet is one of the great new designs. It is comfortable, sounds great, and is extremely well built. I'm considering another EJ down the road since I like the design so well. I'll probably go for a S/S/S design next time just for something different. If someone were to steal this guitar, I'd hunt them down like a dog.

Sound : 10
I play blues/rock, and this guitar is perfect for that. You can get just about any tone you want out of this guitar. The P-90's have a nice clean tone, but also have a great singing growl when pushed, and they are quiet. I am playing it through a Allen Brown Sugar, which is a great hand built, 1x12 combo amp. It is cathode biased so I can use 6V6 tubes(15 watts), or 6L6's(30 watts). This is one of the best sounding amps for a Strat type guitar, I have ever heard! My pedals are: Bad Horsie 2, Strobostomp 2, BBE Orange Squash, RC Booster, BBE Boosta Grande, Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent OD, Danelectro Cool Cat Tremolo, Analogman Chorus, BBE Two Timer Delay. I can't say enough about the tone, and quality of this guitar. It is a pleasure to play.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I had to lower the action to my likeing, but the quality, and workmanship of this guitar are impecable! I recently bought s Suhr Pro Series, and they are both quality made guitars. I cannot find a single flaw. The neck of this guitar with the 12" radius, and slight roundback, has a great feel, and is easy to play. Frets are perfect, no high spots or dead spots on the neck. Love the body shape and color!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I'm sure this guitar will hold up, and last a lifetime or 2. It seems very sturdy and durable. I always take 2 guitars to a gig, what if you break a string?

Just got the guitar, do not know?

Overall Rating : 10
This is a great sounding, playing, and looking guitar. I feel the workmanship compared to the massed produced Fenders, and Gibsons is noticeably better. My son bought a Fender John Mayer Artist series, and in my opinon, the quality of this guitar is better. The JM has a nice tone with the "scooped" pickups, but I like the playability and feel of the Grosh better. I really feel that for the $$, you can't do better than a Grosh Electrajet, plus they are about the coolest looking guitar around!!

2008 ElectraJet Standard, Foam Green, S/S/S, one volume-one tone control, Grosh pickups, alder body, maple/Indian rosewood neck, satin finish, Wilkinson tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuners, 25 1/2-inch scale, 6105 frets, hardshell case.

I'm giving it a 10 for features because even though it's a basic guitar with basic controls, the features are exactly what I need--no more, no less--and all the hardware and electronics are of impeccable quality.

Sound : No Opinion
The instrument sounds superb. Even though it has a "Strat" pickup configuration, the guitar sounds warmer, richer and more tonally complex than any of my Strats--but it's not too dull or characterless either. All five switch positions deliver supremely musical and usable sounds. The bridge pickup is excellent, not thin or "ice-pick"-sounding, and the guitar sustains and resonates incredibly. You can really feel the "aliveness" of the neck and body, and chords ring out beautifully.

This guitar sounds so good that it deserves to be played through a top-quality amp that lets all of its sonic nuances shine through. It sounds spectacular through an Ampeg Reverbojet and a Dual Showman Reverb head with a 2-12 Bandmaster bottom with reissue Jensen speakers. It is also excellent when used with my Fulldrive II MOSFET and Fulltone OCD V.3 pedals.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The fit and finish on this guitar is nothing less than magnificent--perfect finish, immaculate fretwork, super-tight neck pocket (with no finish between the neck heel and the bottom of the neck pocket, one of the guitar's many small but important quality details). It came with perfect setup and intonation out of the box (in fact, I raised the action 1/64" inch to suit my tastes). Another important factor, considering it's a bolt-on, is that the neck-to body alignment is absolutely spot-on (I've seen other guitars with the high or low E too close to the edge of the fingerboard). Super-comfortable neck profile for me--not too fat or thin.

I've been playing guitar for more than 40 years and have played hundreds, if not thousands of guitars, so I'm speaking as a veteran musician (and admitted guitar nut). Believe me when I say that this is one of the finest instruments I've ever played--it absolutely exudes quality in every respect. I am not being overly enthusiastic or "nice" in my comments. I'm giving this guitar 10s because it deserves them.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I've only had the guitar for six days, so I can't comment on the long term, but I can tell you that the hardware, wood and finish is all of top quality. It is now my number one guitar. It will not only withstand live playing, it's ideal for it--its unique shape is ergonomically comfortable standing or sitting--and it's certainly going to turn heads!

I would give the folks at Grosh a 20 in this category if such as rating was available. I had been considering the purchase of an ElectraJet for almost a year, and Brent and others at Grosh answered all my questions and were as helpful as can be. It feels good to buy an instrument of such superior quality and attention to detail from people who really care about the guitars they're making.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for more than 40 years and have many guitars and amps, including a few vintage instruments. I will definitely buy another Grosh guitar when budget permits. At $1,700, the ElectraJet Standard is an absolute bargain in a handmade, limited production guitar.

I compared my guitar to many, many others, including some boutique brands, and this guitar stands with the best of them. What sold me was its unique shape, its exceptional feel and sound, and its impeccable quality. I had heard of Grosh for many years and had always wanted to try one. Now that I own one, I strongly encourage anyone reading this to try one and experience what I'm talking about. You'll see and hear what I mean.

My ElectraJet was made in January of 2008 - #19. The features are as follows:
Body wood ??? Alder
Finish ??? Shoreline Gold
Neck wood ??? Maple/Indian Rosewood fingerboard
Aged satin Lacquer finish on neck
Medium roundback neck shape (.830???/.930???)
1 5/8 nut width
Medium 6150 frets
Aged vintage dots in neck
Gotoh 510 vintage Tremolo
Aged White 3-ply pickguard
Lindy Fralin pickups, S/S/H (Blues Special, Blues Special, Unbucker)
Blend control
Push-Pull Split/Coil Tap

Came with a great C&G hard case.

Sound : 10
As far as most sounds I really need - I have them in this one guitar. The blend pot brings so many tone options to the table. this is my second guitar with Fralin Blues Specials and I've been very impressed with how little hum I hear. Don must have really shielded this guitar to the max. Rock, blues and country can all be played on this one guitar and with the blend pot, you can do some sweet soft jazz too. There is nothing I hate about this guitar. I only wish my skill level was worthy of owning it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I'm actually the second owner, but the first owner did nothing to change the factory setup which is spot on. I may tweak the pickups a bit, but right now everything is really nice. You cannot find better workmanship than a Grosh. Don's frets are the absolute best and his necks are so comfortable, Intonation is right on the money - so don't think you'll neck a Buzz Feiten set up or a Plek job. Don covers every detail of his guitars perfectly.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar is solid. All hardware and electronics are top dollar. The finish is a nitro finish so it's not going to take the abuse a poly finish would, but I don't thrash my guitars. It will age like a good vintage guitar and the finish will wear down eventually - but that's what you want over 20 years of playing one guitar.

Someday I'll buy a second Grosh to be my backup if I break a string.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don's shop is always fast to answer email and you can call them too. Great people who care about their customers.

Overall Rating : 10
This is my 43rd year as a player. My acoustic is a Larrivee LV-05E. My amp is a Dr. Z Ghia with a Z 2x10 cabinet. I have lots of pedals and a vintage Gretsch lapsteel as well.

I'm settled on Grosh guitars. I had a Retro Classic and thought I wanted to go back to playing a PRS, but that didn't last long. I had tasted real "personality" in a Grosh so I snatched the ElectraJet when I had the chance. What a great maker Don is!!!
