HI
I have a guild Brian May that I bought brand new back in 93. I ordered it thru woodsy's music,( ohio institution ) who was a guild dealer at the time. It's a beautiful mahogany body in the GREEN translucent finish. I especially love the wide neck on it, I also have a les paul standard with a 50's style neck. I also play bass, I guess that's why I love big necked guitars. In the same year I also ordered the treble booster.

I plugged it into my marshall today & it sounded more like my les paul than my strat. Big sound, you can feel the guitar vibrate with the amp, it felt like it was one unit. Felt like I returned to an old friend. Definately had the Brian May tone, but it also sounded like Rory Gallagher? It's hard to get used to, sitting down while playing.

Well, I know the music store I bought it from, sets up the guitars before they sell them. The finish is beautiful !!!!

I guess I wouldn't use it as a back up guitar because of it's now rareity. But this isn't an average guitar any more. But, its a very strong sounding guitar

I don't know fender would treat my guitar, I'm sure the warranty has long run out.

I've been playing over 35 years, owned probly 30 guitars in my lifetime. I still have 9 now. I can actually say this is one of my favorite guitars. I'd hate have it stolen, don't know if I could replace it? I have had guitas stolen from me before, & I know my insurance wouldn't give me what it's REALLY worth. Don't know how the new copies are?
If anybody has a tremolo bar for this guitar let me know. Mine got lost while moving.

I am the original owner of my 1993 Guild Brian May "Red Special" Guitar. It has 24 frets. (25 if you want to count the zero fret) It has acoustic chambers and a laminated mahogony body. There are three on / off switches (one for each pick up) and three phase switches. One volume and one tone control. There are three Duncan, Brian May pick ups, wired in series. This guitar features a knife edge tremelo similar to the original.

The sound is awsome, especially when played through a trebel booster with everything turned up full. The switching system allows for a wide range of tones, any pick up can be used individually or in combination with any other pick up, either in or out of phase.

The factory set up was super, I only made a few small adjustments to two of the pick ups. The action is just the way I like it, fast and smooth. The fit and finish are about as good as you will find any where, on any guitar, at any price. My guitar came with zero flaws.

This guitar is definatly stage quality. I've played mine for a few hours a week for 14 years with zero issues. I did replace the strap button screws with slightly longer ones, mostly for "peace of mind."

I can not comment on this as I have never had the need for customer support.

I have been playing guitar for 30 years. I very quickly became comfortable with the wide neck, and now prefer it over my other guitars. (Gibson Les Paul and ES335. My only wish is minor one. I dont like the layered (black and white) pick guard. The original is solid black, and in my opinion, looks much better.

I am not sure, but I believe it is a semi-hollow body guitar with lacquer finish. I do not need to explain anything about Brian May's red special. The guild I bought is the closest Guild Brian May model they produced in 1983. I bought it used via ebay. It came with manual which shows how to use 6 switches, phase on/off and pickup on/off for each of these pickups. They have famous Brian's knife-edge tremolo, not exactly the same, but as close as possible. Bridge is not the same as original like K'z guitars', but again it is roller bridge which Guild made as close as the original. It was I belive made in 1983. It has 24 flets with famous zero fret. It has Seymour Duncan Brian May instead of original trisonic, but at least better than fake Dillion's pseudo pickups. The neck is I believe made of Mahogany. You may already know about Brian's original red special than I do. If not, go to Brian may central.com If you would like to play red special, you must like its fat neck. It is fat and not tapered at all. Like K'z guitar insists, it is the must if you want special sustain of actual red special. I like the neck better than Gibson's 58 fat neck at least.

I really cannot rate this section for the guitar. I have been playing with her for a while. I first thought stunned by the sound of the guitar. I plugged the guitar into my Roland JC120. It sounds so flat. I have once played home-made guitar which was made by my friend. It sounds like that. I struggle to make sweet tones which Brian produced in all of Queen's records. It all of sudden sounds sweet once you attach treble booster between. It started to creating rainbow tones of Brian's or somewhere close to them. It has strat like sounds or even telecaster's or Les Paul like sounds(490's but never classic 57's). I can never be successful in making vintage PAF sounds out if her. If you want vintage PAF sound, I do not think you pay so much money to buy this guitar I guess...... Again, this guitar has Rainbow tones, but you have to have some extra to make her to sound sweet. Without extra, it does never sound more than that of broken cheap toy.

I cannot comment on this. It ws first of all was used. And I usually play the guitar, and adjust in setting in the way I like. NO flow on the guitar. I purchased the guitar in like-new condition. The guitar looks beautiful and cute. I did not expect Red Sepcial so small like this.

Again, I cannot comment on this section, either. It looks pretty solid although it is semi-hollow(lol).

I always wanted to have Brian's Red Special. I thought of purchasing Burns, Dillion, Sei, RS, even K'z or real authentic Guyton. I though first of buying Burn's or Dillion, and change their pickups for authentic trisonic's for Dillion. However, I did not since I really want to have it with Brian's tremolo unit. It would be very expensive to change it with tremolo unit. Then I thought of buying RS, K'z or even real authentic Guyton. Especially last two are very very expensive. I have never thought of buying Guild since it is becoming so hard to find the one in good condition. I am very lucky to find one I want. I have Gibson Les Paul Reissue '97, Gibson ES 335 dot '81, Ibanez Lee Ritenour Signature LR-10 x2 (both '81), Ibanez GB 10 George Benson, Greco ES 175 law suit copy '91, Tokai law suit LS 200 with Seymour Duncan PAFs(sound like vintage way much better than real Gibson, specially ordered), and Tokai law suit strat ST 80 (again with Duncan staggered strat pickups it sounds way much better than actual fenders, at least equivalent to custom shop's No guitar has the sounds of Red Special. If you take care of the guitar in giving extra gas to it, it all of sudden starts creating rainbow tones. Despite of initial impression I got from the guitar, this is the definite keeper. If something happens to my life, I would take three guitars with me regardless of where I go. This red special would be one of them besides Ibanez George Benson and one of Lee Ritenour signature, but never Gibson or Fender. You want to great guitar, then take it onto your hand and play it without amplifier. The great guitar always sounds great without amp. Do not get carried away with big names. Some of Mexican fenders are much better than American Fenders. Japanese guitars in the top of the line are always excellent. I have been playing guiters on and off for more than 30 years. Good luck to find your partner of life time. Musically yours,
