Much like other reviews this guitar is "SG" like in appearance featuring excellent tuners, set neck and and adjustable bridge. Simple yet effective

Sound : 9
Overall this guitar packs quite a punch sound wise for the price. I play everything from indyuustrial rock to surf and so far this guitar is great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar was set up perfectly, for my needs right out of the box. I bought this as a B-Stock on ebay and besides the advertised knick on the body the finish on this guitar is as good as anything I've seen in my years of playing. Love the look of the headstock and tuning pegs/

Reliability/Durability : 9
I my opinion this beast is exteremely solid and road worthy. I definitely would use this as a back up anytime and more often than not I would use it where I could as a main axe especially in a foreign land cause for the price I wouldn't go ballistic if it grew legs and went missing.

No need....

Been playing semi proffessionally for close to twenty years and love this guitar I don't have one complaint. I own original Hagstroms from the 60-70's and dare I say it these reissues are all around better guitars, although I would never part with any of my Hagstroms. If it were lost or stolen I would replace in a second.

Mahogany body, set neck, 1 volume, 1 tone, covered humbuckers. Very SG-like in appearance, function and features. Excellent tuners, nice adjustable bridge. Nothing fancy but it does what it does quite well.

Sound : 9
Surprisingly good. Plenty of snarl when overdriven. Not quite as jangly and chimey sounding as I would like when played clean, but it's quiet and has a fairly complex sound to it. I play it through either an Acoustic G60T or a Musicman HD-150 and it sounds very much like an SG, which is what I was looking for.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is where this thing shines. Mine was a B-stock Ebay purchase and I can't find ANYTHING wrong with it. Fit and finish are the best I've seen on any Chinese-made guitar. It was even properly set up and ready to play. To feel it in your hands you'd never guess this thing was Chinese. It was very inexpensive but doesn't feel the least bit cheap.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Very heavy and solid. I'd use it on gigs without backup without reservation.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed it.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 30 years, almost all of professionally. I've got 27 guitars, including Les Pauls, Teles, Strats, ES-335's and a PRS. This guitar, despite being surprisingly cheap, is a welcome addition to the herd. I bought it because I wanted an SG-ish guitar, but didn't need one bad enough to spend the money for a Gibson. I've been pleasantly surprised its all-around excellence.

Black. 2 Humbuckers (have since been switched to GFS Bigmouths), King's Neck, Hagstrom Tailstop/piece, came with a very nice hardcase & tools, made in China, One volume and one tone w/ a 3 stop selector switch. Passive elects. The body I believe is Mahogany w/ a "Diamondwood" finger board...ie...some kind of space plastic stuff that is just fine. Graphite nut.

Sound : 5
I play everything from this to that. I have played vinto Hagstrom exclusively for about 17 years. I love their tone, design and playability. I was stoked when I heard that the reissues were coming. I preordered mine and after about 4 months of waiting it finally arrived.

I play it through my '62 Hagstrom 39 tube amp (9 watts). This amp sounds like a plexi when overdriven (it's God-like). Ok so, the humbuckers on the F200 reissue were/are unremarkable. There was nothing distinct about them. Hagstroms have a very distinct sound that I can pick out, not these Humbuckers. Boring.

The guitar is quiet. It's has massive sustain and a nice enough tone.

The pickups are just 'meh'. I give it a 5 because of the stock pickups.

Now that I have replaced the stock PUPs with some GFS Bigmouths the guitar has absolutely come alive. I actually really enjoy it now. My advice, get rid of the stock PUPs.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Number one, the reissues are made in China...not Sweden or the US (unless you order a custom one).

Ok, on the surface the fit and finish is very good. But alas, break that sucker open and look at the innards. Not so good. The routing is hamfisted, the shielding looks like it was cut with a rusty bandsaw and the selector control ergonomics are not right (don't ask, it's my own weird thing). The soldering and electronics themselves are fine.

Of course if you don't open the guitar up you don't notice any of this and it's fine. But to me it is the details that seperate a good guitar from a great guitar. Vinto Hags are great guitars, the craftmanship is excellent. The reissues are good guitars for the money.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I would gig the F200 without a back up. It's solid. It is a working guitar. It's light, well balanced and dependable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to use "Hagstrom" support yet. I'm sure it's fine. It comes with a 10 year warranty which is good.

Overall Rating : 7
I have been playing for a buh-jillion years. I own a bunch of other Hags and Hag gear. If it were lost/stolen I would shrug my shoulders and go buy a Gretsch Double Jet.

Now that I have changed the pickups I actually love the guitar. It plays well and really sings.

The deal is that these are not true Hagstroms. They are good guitars for the money. No doubt. They are well made and solid. The stock Hummies aren't my favorite but switch 'em out and you'll have a sweet axe.

I was actually looking for a Swede but they are so heavy and uncomfortable to play (like most les pauls, in my opinion), picked up up this one instead and you can guess the rest. This is a reissue Hagstrom unlike the review before mine.

From manufacturer's Website

"F Series F200 * Contoured Mahogany Body * Set Neck Mahogany * Diamondwood Fingerboard * 24 3/4" Scale Length * Custom 58 Pickups * Tunable Long Travel Bridge System * Hagstrom Sustain Block Tailpiece "

I bought this guitar from a local store new. I liked it because it was light and comfortable. It sounds very nice to my ears. I'd say it sounds better than my other guitars with stock pickups, and plays MUCH better. I like these pickups, they are versitile enough for a good clean sound and a nice heavy metal crunch.

This guitar comes with 1 tone and 1 volume control with a three way switch. I like this configuration, although i can see where others wouldn't.

The tailpiece on this guitar is pretty cool. it has six individual stop tail pieces for enhanced sustain, which is cool. The ONLY problem i've had with this guitar is that one of the saddles on the bridge was not made properly so the saddle would rock back and forth on the bridge. I took it back to the shop and the dealer was more than happy to replace the bridge for me, so i didn't have to deal with Hagstrom on that issue.

The fingerboard is made out of a lamenant plastic or "dimondwood" (they aren't fooling me), it's very hard and feels kind of like ebony to me. I Like it, but it could be better, it could be real ebony. The tuners are rather touchy but they stay in tune well enough once they are set.

Overall this guitar isn't packed with alot of ground breaking features. However the ones that are implemented i feel are done well, and therefore worth a solid 9 rating BUT the nut at the top of the fingerboard is a graphite nut, the corners are sharp and should have been smoothed over. i think this is a careless oversight and I'm deducting a point for that.

Sound : 10
I run this guitar through a marshall Valvestate head, Mostly through the clean channel. I've heard others complain about this head's clean channel but I like it, so that what i use, which i suppose is a differant review alltogether. ANYWAY... I like the way these pickups sound, they are warm on the clean channel. They sound pretty nice through the distrotion channel to but i don't get to use it much.

I really, honest to goodness, no BS and not a word of a lie, Cannot find any fault in how this instrument sounds.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The finish on this guitar is pretty well done, and i know a thing or two about finishing. To make me happy a finish has to Look nice, which it does. and i might add there are no buffing patterns on the surface, I'm really picky about this. and no orange peel in sight. it also needs to feel comfortable, which it also does and in no way feels sticky when my hands are sweaty. Some other guitars i've played do, and i've passed up purchasing instruments because of it. I purchased the "Natural mahagony" color and it looks very sharp, Like a deep wine red. Although if you know anything about woods at all you would know that mahagony, in it's virgin state, looks nothing like this.

The action when i got it was ok, but i think the shop i bought it from had lowered the action. so i can't really comment on how it came set up from the factory. I had this instrument professionally set up and intonated. Now it plays just fine. I also forgot to mention the chrome hardware on this guitar (which is all of it) and the fact that the volume and tone knobs are rather bland looking next to all that chrome. I put Tele speed knobs on it and they look slick. The headstock on my guitar is bound in what looks to my like mother of pearl, but i can't be sure.

The only problems i have are with the nut and the deffective saddle wich i already talked about.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I use this guitar exclusivley now and, at the present time, I can't think of anything i'd rather play. the hardware seems solid and the finish seems pretty thick and it stays in tune well. overall no complaints.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had any problems other than the issue with the bridge, which was taken care of by the dealer. So I cannot really comment on it but I'll as least quote the warranty.

"Hagstrom Guitars are warranted to be free from defective material and workmanship for 10 years from the date of purchase to the original owner only when purchased from an authorized Hagstrom dealer. Warranty covers parts and labor. Customer is responsible for freight to and from Hagstrom Guitars."

Overall Rating : 9
Not perfect but a pretty amazing guitar for the price. I was playing a Washburn pt60 as a primary guitar before, and i think this overshadows it by a long shot. I do however like the grover tuners on my washburn better. And i'm kind of curious as to how this would sound with emg h4's in it.

if this guitar was lost or stolen i would buy another in an instant. I was actually thinking of buying another one and putting emg pickups in it.

This is a '73 or '74 Swedish-made Hagstrom and I think it is a F200; I saw one on a fan site which seems very similar, but mine has been repainted (charcoal grey) so I cannot say for sure. Mine is LEFT-HANDED. It looks like a cross between a Gibson SG (headstock is different than similar Hagstroms which are more like fender strat) and fender strat (asymmetrical, but pointy tips and pick-guard again like SG) It does not feature j-pickups like similar Hags, but has (now I don't know enough about this stuff) either humbuckers or double-sized single-coils (there is only one row of magnets on each). It had a problem with the whammy-bar always putting it out of tune, so the previous owner took the bar off and bolted the bridge tighly fixed, which is fine by me 'cause I only do rhythim guitar anyway (punk, rock, metal, and a little bluesy when my woman just left me). It's got 22 frets, a thin neck (this guitar is VERY light compared to my LP), seperate volume knobs for volume and tone, a 3-way toggle switch AND AN ON/OFF SWITCH!! I really like that 'cause I got no noise gate and my distortion (Boss HM2) really screams especially with a CS2 compressor.

Sound : 8
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SOUND OF THIS GUITAR!! Sort of a good-quality lo-fi DARK vibe to it which truly differs from my LP in many ways. Not very refined, but just a GOOD GUITAR TONE. Maybe not for everything, but who said I was putting my LP up for sale, anyway?? Clean, it really has a dark sound, not good for happy music (but I would never do "happy music"). With distortion (I use either Boss HM2 or OD1 for now) it becomes a beast to throw yourself around a stage with. I drive it into either an old Gibson THOR tube bass amp, or in a Randall RG100ES (think Dimebag Darrell) 150-watt solid-state head using its on-board distortion and compressor first.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I must have it set up because of a few buzzes here and there, but the feel is great and it is usable. Also the pots are little dirty, even after cleaning. Like I said, it was repainted (not badly, but not very well, either) but I love the look of it too.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I'm always scared to crack my prized Les Paul on a pillow, but this baby can get tossed around with no fright...Well built but LIGHT. It is, after all, 30 years old!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Just go to a fan site for info (though I have not dug in for much...yet)

Overall Rating : 8
I enjoy playing it more than my Les Paul, but the sound is not for everything. I WILL NEVER PART WITH THIS GUITAR and if someone tried to steal it, I would seriously mess him up.
