As per the review below but I must add the the bookmatched Maple top on this baby is fantastic, it glows in the right light. All Mahogany with maple binding and cap. Some of the online guitar shops have it wrong, the select ultra is not bass wood with a maple neck. Its all mahogany with an awesome finish and super flat, slim neck. The coil tap provides endless tone variations but I mainly use the humbuckers.

I have been playing on and off for about 10 years, mainly classic rock and blues with a little soft rock thrown in, this axe is perfect through my Randall RG75G2. I can pull off a wicked AC/DC sound through to the heaviest distortions and sweet clean tones. With the coil tap in the single coil position I get the smallest amount of noise but far less than my Ibanez SA160QM in single coil mode.I need no other effects for the style I play as the tones I can pull with my rig seem to be everything I want.

I bought this guitar used (3 months old) from a kid that got it as an unwanted gift for $800au with a Hag hard case. The setup is crap and I was told that it was the factory set up. The pick ups were adjusted ok but strings buzz in about 10 places. I have played properly set Hags in shops and they are a pleasure to play, from the factory mine was crap. Fit and finish are flawless as is the tone (except for the string buzz). All the controls work well and everything is tight.

I e mailed Hagstrom last week to find out if there is any meaning to their serial numbers or if they are just a manufacturing number. They still have not replied so maybe this is indicative of customer support.

I have been playing for most of 10 years. I am very happy with this guitar. I run it through the Randal RG75G3 as mentioned earlier and it does everything i want.
I would buy another without a second thought.
I compared it to a Gibson Les Paul and SG and then bought the Hagstrom. I get a better rock sound from this and I can coil tap.

I Am A Worship Guitarist, Rock,Blues,Metal,Jazz,etc.
I Play A 100 watt Laney Tubefusion Hybrid Amp,
w/- A Zoom G71uit - Great Effects Units - But Takes Tweaking Like All Of Them.
It's Not Noisy At All.
Very Thick Solid Sound, After All It's Made Of Solid Mahogany.
The Pickups Are Great,
F-Spaced Like Duncan Trembuckers, Not As Hot s Gibsons.
Sound Very Good Clean - Quite Bassy.
But Really Shine When You Krank The Gain, No Noise At All.
I Have No Dislikes About The Sound, it's Just What I Was Looking For.

Set Up Was OK, But Bridge Way To High, Easilly Fixed With A
Screwdriver As It Adjustable.
Pickups Needed A Little Adjustment No Big Deal.
Top Pretty Well Bookmatched, Better Than A Lot Of Gibsons I've Seen.
Including Les Paul Studios & Standards.
Really Well Made, Maple Binding.
Good Pots, Tuners OK, Could Replace With 18-1 Grovers.

Live Playing Not A Problem.
It Will Probably Outlast Me, Built Like A Tank.
Strap Button Seem Very Solid.
I Never Play Without A Backup With Standard Tuner Guitars.
I Do With A Locking Trem Axe Though.

Been Playing 16 yrs, I Own A Japanese Ibanez Rg 570.
I Wanted A Hardtail Guitar Getting Tired Of Mashing My Hand
On The Locking Nut.
I Thoughroly Researched This Guitar.
I Would Buy Again If Stolen.
I like Everything About It, Like The Coil Tap,
Les Paul Or Strat No Problem.
I've Looked At Ibanez SZ 570(Nice), Epiphone Les Paul(Crap)
Dean Hardtail, Heavy( But Nice)
PRS SE Series(Sound Great, Finishes Little To Be Desired &
Crap Tuners For A Good Company.
Also Micheal Kelly Patriot Custom(Awesome Tone & Finish)
Was Originally Going To Buy The Kelly But The Guy On Ebay
Sold It & Did'nt Have Any Others For A While,
So I Checked Out This & Bought It On Faith I Guess,
But Had Heard Great Reports About The Super Swedes,
& This Has The Same Features Just A Little Smaller In Shape.
I Totally Agree With Others On Here,
Gibson Is Totally Overated, The Quality Controll Is Going Down The
Toilets Guys - Les Paul Special & SG Special (Crap)
Where You Can Get A Better Finished Guitar From Asia For A QUARTER
Of The Price.
If You Took A Blindfold Test With This, A Patriot Custom
& A Les Paul Studio - They Both Eat The Studio.
Why Pay A Extra $800-1000+ For A Gibson Sticker & A Worse Quality
Guitar.
This Is A Extroardinary Value, Go & Try One They Rock.
If I Worked For Gibson I'd Be Getting Concerned.
Hagstrom & Micheal Kelly Rock, Both Quality Instruments.
