a Mahogany body with a maple top
has has 2 chrome volumecontrols and also 2 chrome tone-controls, a
coil-tapand a 30way selector all chrome.
)It has 2 humbuckers wich are both switchable to pickups.
The humbuckers are ownbuild Hagstrom 58 alnico humbuckers allchrome and itlooks fantastic!
The finish is a transparent wild cherry-red colour.
* )The vibrato-tremarm is the most coolest thing ever placed on which
guitar ever. It works very good.
* Tuners (Locking? Non-locking? brand of tuners .Chrome Hagstrom-tuners with a with a great vintagelook.
The neck is Mahogany and the fretboard is glued on it. 2 different
materials because the fretboard is resonatorwood but has nothing to do
with wood because it's composite! It has the look of ebony but is much
harder. The dutch guitarbuilder Catalyst was making this kind of
fretboards in the 8's, I owned such a guitar and it 's amazing how
fine, clean and fast this material is playing! My friend Tony from Belgium is playing daily on the red jakkerman and loves the fretboard! Why usewood when there is such a better material like sonator-wood?

My musicstyle is most blues with country and old Peter Green-style. This
guitar plays it all.The main amp I use is a TOrange Tiny Terror who has the most vintagesound on this planet is impossible to describe the sound wit the both humbuckers on and the TT in a little gain setting.
Some headwords:
sprinkling and reamy. I'm sure that Joe Bonamassa and the good old Peter
Green will appreciate this amazing sound!

the guitar set-up at the factory was not good! When I unpacked the guitar athome and tried to play then the volume-controlknob of the fronthumbuckerdid NOT work!Wat to do? Phoned at the shop Nederland Muziek in Almere butthey did not know what they could do. "Maybe a typicalHagstrom-thing"was the answer so I went to the best tarbuilder in The
etherlands: 'Rikkers' in Groningen, He opened the back of the guitar andnoticed that the 2 volumepotmeters were changed with andvery bad solderwork to.loose wires (!).In meantime I could look at his absolute fantastic guitars!Look at his website!!!

The finish of this guitar is amazing, absolutely gorgeous in the sunburst... split coil humbuckers offer theoretically a wide range of sounds, but...

Sound : 3
Unfortunately this guitar doesn't sound as good as it looks. If you think that your going to get a similar sound to a Fender Telecaster by splitting the humbuckers to single coil or a huge Les Paul sound, then think again.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The neck is chunky and unrefined compared to a Fender (ok, I'm biased, but it's true). The B string was an absolute nightmare to keep in tune... I found myself retuning every 2 minutes. The setup didn't make a significant improvement to the unsatisfactory tuning.

Reliability/Durability : 5
Nothing about this guitar was worth holding on to it longer than 1 week, so perhaps ask the new owner in France.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't try as I had already decided to sell it 1 week after buying it... was bought 2nd hand from a guy who apparently had a similar opinion as me... he bought it new from the store and sold it 1 week later on ebay.

Overall Rating : 4
I've owned a Les Paul 67 Goldtop and a Fender Telecaster, and this is not even close to either (OK it's a lot cheaper but now I know why)... if only it sounded as good as it looks. They should stick to the Les Paul theme and forget the idea of splitting pickups... if you want beautiful sounding single coils, then buy a Fender. Unrefined and extremely heavy... best nailed to a wall in the lounge room as its appearance has to be the only thing going for it.

1981 Hagstrom Super Swede in Antique Sunburst. Very Sharp looking guitar. Overall this guitar is in 8.5-9/10 shape, the fretboard is simply amazing! I have no fret buzz and the action just cleans house any any guitar I've seen! It's crazy low! All my knobs/swichtes work perfectly. What more could you ask for in a Gibson style guitar? Notice I didn't say 'copy'. That's because the Super Swede a completly unique Hagstrom.

Sound : 9
Very toney for lead or clean playing. (Think Slash in Knockin on Heavin's door) for the clean/bridge pickup. I love the neck pickup for nice clean leads. Thanks to the Coil tap this guitar can do it all! The only thing I don't like about the sound is you have to really crank the distorion the make it thick sounding...granted this doesn't really bother me. Easy enough to do.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
As mentioned above.. beautiful action. The 0 Fret action is a hard act to follow. Cheap looking screws.. that's about it!

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is a tank! (in weight too). Even Kurt Cobain would have trouble breaking this one. I would and have used the guitar many places without a backup. It's not the kinda guitar that will let you down. For the price I paid $400 (steal I know), it rivals guitars worth 5-10x the price!

If you get a chance to purchase an Original Super Swede, DON'T leave without at least trying it 1st. It's hard to imagine any Gibson fan being disappointed. I just can't say enough good about it! Fancy looking too with that Ebony fretboard and 'Sweet'ish headstock.

I have the Cherry Sunburstwitch look really noce. The back is dark red. I had to redo basicly all the pickups wiring on this guitar. After it was all pleasure to be played. This is an LP with an added single coil tap switch. The tuneomatic has slot on the top so it's easy to adjust with small flat screw driver.

Sound : 8
Because of bad wiring, i could not use no other settings than all volume at max. At volume lower than 7, the tone was rolling of the highs too much to be played at that setting. Middle PU position switch sounds thin ( i found out later that the PU where badly wired)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Two frets postin where buzzing. They needed to be filled down so that the buzzing was eliinated.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I think this guitar will age very well, definitevely a keeper. I reminds me of my LesPaul custom i had 20 years ago.

If you find that this guitar sound bad with volume lower than 7, or at the middle pickup position. DOn't worry this is only bad wiring. write me if you have the same problem and i will indicate how to solve these issues

I just picked this guitar up 2 days ago. I traded an acoustic that I never played and a 66 Hagstrom Viking hollowbody for it. I play a Strat most of the time and was wanting a guitar with humbuckers and a more crunchy sound. This guitar is about as close to a real Les Paul as you can get (and for a third of the price) Mine has a beautiful looking ebony finish with cream pickguard and chrome hardware. First thing I did was change strings and clean off the fingerprints, set the action to my personal liking, plug it in and ROCK!!! I was very impressed with it right away!!! The coil-slpit works great on mine, able to change from a humbucking tone to a bright "strat-like" sound. Even with brand new strings, it stayed in tune better than my strat. I also like the headstock, kind of different, but in a classy way, I think....

Sound : 10
I play classic rock/electric blues...so I was looking for a humbucker-sound to compliment my Strat. I play through a Fender Blues DeVille Reissue (tweed, of course) and an old Big Muff from the 70's, and a Cry Baby....I didn't find anything "noisy" about it at all, even cranked up. In humbucker mode, it has a cool crunch to it, maybe voiced a bit darker than a Gibson, but I liked it. When I hit the coil split swith I immediately noticed a brighter "strat-like" tone. Really made me think seriously of using this as my MAIN guitar due to the variety of tones I could get out of it. The pickup selector swith also worked great and I like the creamy tone from the neck pickup... NO complaints with the sound at all!!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I replaced the strings and adjusted the bridge to my personal preference, which I always do anyway...The intonation was dead-on accurate. I did not have to adjust the pickups at all. Also I could find NO flaws in the fit or finish. BUT, a couple of the frets are a bit sharp, and I'll also take care of that myself with a little emery cloth, no big deal. That was really the only flaw I could find. I also always replace the strap buttons with strap locks so I don't drop it, sometimes I can get carried away....I give it an 8 only because of the fret dressing....

Reliability/Durability : 9
The main reason I got was a back-up guitar, but I am seriously thinking of making it my main guitar...I have no doubt it will stand up to live playing, it feels even more solid than my old LP Studio did, and I bashed on that one. The tuners seem very good. I just got it 2 days ago, so I can't say if I can depend on it, but it certainly seems that I can. I'm gonna leave the Strat at home next rehersal, and just take this, and see how it works out....

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them, so no opinion...

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing 31 years, owned just about every guitar made. This is "just about" as good as any Gibson I've owned, tone-wise. A little on the heavy side, though, but I am used to a Strat. I would certainly check out another if it got lost or stolen. I played some of the cheeper Gibsons that day, and liked this one every bit as much and it's prettier too.... Haven't had it long enough to form a "long-term" opinion. But SO FAR, I like it a LOT!!! And it's way cheeper than a Gibson!!! Again, I traded two guitars I didn't play much for this one, so I can't really say what the price would have been.....But as far as bang-for-the-buck, I don't think there is anything out there that can touch it!!!

Beautiful Polyester Finish
The Body style is very similar to that of a Les Paul,
and I gotta tell ya, these are the nicest looking and best feeling tuning keys I've ever experienced!
It's got a nice 25 1/2" scale neck
22 frets.
Its got 2 meaty custom 58 Humbuckers (H/H)
Chrome hardware.
Solid Mahogany body, it weighs a ton hahaahah
and as you'd probably expect, no whammy bar.

Sound : 9
Great sound, extremely versatile guitar, this thing will get you everything from a nice crunchy metal sound to a bluesy or soothing jazzy tone. Everything from Clapton to Dave Gilmour to Zakk Wylde is possible with this guitar. (Though I wouldn't suggest any Dragonforce or Megadeth, it's only got 22 frets hehe...)

I've got mine going into a Boss ME-50 pedal (On Lead distortion setting and with the variation on is what my main sound is.) It kicks so much ass, it isn't funny. From there, it goes into my VOX AD30VT (which is on a very clean boutique setting + a pinch of reverb). I very much enjoy my setup, really unlocks the potential of the Super Swede.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The action on this thing is glorious, but something that really bugged me is that all the 16th frets buzz. and you can't even bend the one on the high e or it just totally cuts out. I've been fiddling with the truss rod and such to try and get rid of it, but nothing seems to do the trick, I'm gonna have to take it in and have someone else repair it...bollocks.

The pickups are well set up though, very well.
Something i've also noticed is some slight blemishing on the upper neck...hmm...

Reliability/Durability : 10
This thing is an absolute tank. It weighs a ton, its not goin anywhere. It will certainly last longer than I will.
I can FOR SURE depend on this thing, and I would gig with this instrument without a backup in a second. No worries here guys.

This comes with a warranty, I forget how long, but its long enough...
Just go on Hagstrom's website, find the number, call and they will help you out. :)

I've been playing for almost two years now. I'm not a Luthier, but I know my stuff when it comes to guitars. This was the first guitar that I bought myself. Before, I used my dad's old Vantage Avenger. (Don't know if you guys have ever heard of those, they're dinosaurs lol). I really did my homework before buying this guitar. I found it for a good deal online and I took it. About now, I'd like to get into something else. Something different, something nobody else has. Like a strat or something. (kidding hahahah) Well, something with a whammy bar anyways... This guitar is actually quite comparable to a Les Paul. Overall, I'd say this guitar is really awesome for beginners AND for those with experience. Go try one out sometime, see what you think of it. Hope this helped.
