This is 2001 Hamer 12 string. Has one vol and one tone control, mahogany body, maple top, 3 piece mahogany neck. TOM bridge.
If thi sthing has two vols and two tone knobes it would be perfect.

12 string guitars are a niche instrument. I use it mainly to flesh out the sound for the church band. Compared to a Ric it is fuller and rounder sounding but still has the jangle.
Action, Fit, & Finish

The action, fit, and finish on this guitar is top notch. The setup was flawless thanks to Greg Platzer of BCR music. He may be one of the top guitar techs in the country
Reliability/Durability

I am sure this thing will survive me and my children. I own several Hamer guitars and with th exception of some input jack issues on some these guitars and very reliable and durable.

I never had to have any repairs done.
I had experience with a custom order and these folks are the best.

I have been playing for quite a while. I own several other Hamers, a Tele, Strat, Les Paul,and a PRS. Hamer is their equal and superior in most cases. IMHO.
Special Thanks to BCR Greg for his usual support and advice. I don't know what the other guys problem was but since he didn't leave his name I would ignore him. He seems like someone with personal issues.
My experience with BCR has been nothing but top notch not only for this purchase but for custom orders as well.

Unlike the other Newport Pros, this guitar has a figured maple top. I have never owned a hollow body 12 string previous to this one, so I am unable to make any comparisions to Rics for you. The guitar has a TOM bridge, each string however can be intonated individually which is a nice feature.
Sound

It is jangly, but that is what a 12 string is all about. It certainly is not the type of guitar I would use often in reality. I purchased this instrument for recording purposes. Often a little 12 string jangle in the back ground of a tune helps thicken up a mix so a song sounds fuller. I like my mixes to be full, orchestral in nature. While the 12 stringer may only be 10% of the volume of say the normal guitar part I am playing, I feel the added effort really makes a track take on another dimension by filling in the voids of the EQ spectrum.
