The guitar has been made in 1983 by German luthier Helmut Hanika and it is still in perfect condition. It is a classical nylon string guitar with 12 frets to the body. The top is solid high grade spruce. The sides and back are made of solid rosewood (Brazilian, I guess, but I??m not sure). The neck is made of mahagony. The fingerboard seems to be ebony. It came with an old hard case which serves its purpose.
Sound

The sound is just stunning! Crispy trebles, punchy basses (with nice overtones). Perfect mids. Regardless on which volume level you play the sound is able to let your listeners shiver of joy (well, only if your play is able to do so, of course). You can virtually play any style on this guitar.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:

Back and sides have a high gloss finish, whereas the top is laquered with a very thin matt finish to enhance the oscillation of the soundboard. Tuners work perfectly. Nut and bridge are made of bone. The look of this guitar is wonderfully plain though it is all made of very high quality materials. The guitar is built just beautifully. The action is a bit high for Flamenco but perfect for anything else.

After 25 years it still works looks phantastic and its sound has even matured. Never needed any setup or repair.
Customer Support

I never needed customer support on this guitar. - The company is extremely helpful though. Helmut Hanikas son Armin Hanika is running the business now. He is very friendly and extremely helpful even if you just inquire information about older models his father has built.
These people care about their guitars!

I started playing over 30 years ago. Then I stopped for a little while before I started playing again about 7 years ago. Even if this guitar would not have been stolen I would purchase another one if I would have the chance to. I compared it to several other guitars including high quality Spanish and Japanese concert guitars. It still is my favorite classical guitar. And I just love the plain and modest look which insinuates "Less is more"! This guitar has everything a perfect guitar needs and nothing superflous.
