This is a sturdy, great looking, and great sounding strat copy! It has three single coil pickups with a 5-way selector (bridge, bridge-middle, middle, middle-neck, neck). Also has master volume control and bridge-middle pickup tone control, as well as a neck tone control. The neck and fretboard are maple with 21 frets. I got this guitar through a mail-order catalog and came with a practice amp, gig bag, and extra strings and picks. Boy! was I pleasantly surprised when I opened up the box! What a beautiful instrument!

Sound : 9
Like I said above, it sounds great! I am into blues and classic rock and I can get some great clean tones out of it just by hooking it up to the little practice amp it came with. Although, if I use the neck pickup setting, I get a vibrating sound when I play certain notes, but I discovered it is the sound of the plastic amp case vibrating when cetain notes go through it! If I hook up earphones to the amp, I have no problems. I also use a distortion pedal sometimes. Not so much for the distortion, but to get a more treble, fifties-era kind of sound, using the pedal's EQ knob. I also use a digitech RP50 processor, and with that, I can get any tone imaginable, from clean, to hard rock, to metal!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Great setup from the factory! All I did was tune it when I took it out of the box! Great action! Very easy to play!

Reliability/Durability : 10
I've had this guitar for a year already, and it is one sturdy axe! I play for my own enjoyment, but if I were in a band, I would have total confidence in this guitar! Very solid and dependable!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with customer support.

I've been messing around with guitars since I was a kid (for about 35 years)! I play for my own enjoyment. I would hate to loose this guitar because I don't know if I could get another guitar this good for the price! I also own a Harmony acoustic that was made in 1975. It was probably one of the last American-made guitars made by the original Harmony company out of Chicago. It is a great guitar also!

this thing is decent a friend of mine recently traded for one when he got it the ground wire was broken he fixed that and decided it needed a crunchier sound in it so he called me and said i need a humbucker so we put a slanted humbucker in the bridge and put it all back together and got a grungy nirvana sound out of it.
It is great for any one

Sound : 9
like i said grungy nirvana sound since the slanted humbucker this thing can dish out just about any tone you want

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
i only have one fault to it and it is the fact that the whole pickup cavity is routed away

Reliability/Durability : 10
very reliable comparable to my epi SG and believe me this thing ROCKS! i play in an 80s band and a grunge band and believe me i would use it without backup for either if i wasnt using my sg

NO IDEA!

overall this is a decent guitar for pros and beginners alike it is nearly identicle to fender strat and outplays a squier strat

Cream colored, white pickguard, 3 single coil passive pups, 5 way selector switch, strat style trem, 21 fret, maple neck. Not sure about the woods on this, but it sure is heavy!

Sound : 5
Overall sound is what you would expect from stock single coil pups.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Way used, lots of dings and such. I did a complete setup of this guitar. Sanded the frets, shimmed nut, intonation, and action. Maple neck on this is very sleek after I buffed it.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I don't play live anymore, but this guitar is rock solid. I let my 4 & 6 year old play rock star with this, with no worries!

You never gig without a backup.

I found this at a yard sale for $20 and couldn't pass it up. LOL.

I got the duncan performer scorcher (bridge) and 2 great white snarks (middle & neck) for this. All the switches and wiring were pretty old so I replaced all that while replacing the pups. I must say after I set this up and replaced the pups I am extremely impressed.

I've been playing 20 years and have never been a big fan of strat single coil guitars, but this is a really good guitar since I've modded it.

This guitar was my second guitar and the guitar i had most of the time throughout my teen years had a laminated neck which was smooth for playing, was surprisingly very hard to play after i got my BC Rich NJ Strat i found out how un playable it was lol. Had really cheapy machine heads for tuning, and when i used the vibrato alot it went out of tune. It was a cheaply done 3 tone Sunburst, but it held up surprisingly. It had the normal 3 pickup set single coils, and a decent bridge. The wiring was crap lol

Sound : 7
I liked its acoustic sound. Alot of people on here complained about its sound, but any decent guitar player can get even the worst guitar too sound decent lol which I did. It didn't fit my style much, but I got as much out of it as I could. It did rattle alot on the low strings though that part sucked. The overdrive was alright, but nothing spectacular. It had an excellent clean sound though

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
High as hell, and unplayable lol

Reliability/Durability : 3
Crap the wiring was horrible at the end the reason i got rid of it was because the pickup selector was shot the volume was shot and the input was shot basically it was a hunk of wood at the end lol. I will say this though the body was durable as hell took me 4 slams b4 the thing actually broke in half when i threw it away

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 5
ive been playing for 12 years now, and I [;ayed that strat cope for 6 of them. I liked it cuz it was my first guitar and i learned alot on it, and actually its play9in difficulty helped me in the long run because playing this BC Rich is a breeze now compared to that. In all its an allright cheap guitar but there are far better out there like a Dean guitar for 99$

late 70's Typical fender copy I traded a Samick nylon stringed acoustic guitar for it. For the longest time I thought I got took in the deal. But all the electrics work, and after a couple of times dropping it, I found this guitar to be pretty tough. It takes being thrown behind the seat of my truck ,or strapped to my motorcycle, without to much worry. Unwatched kids have pleyed at being a rock star with it and havent hurt it yet.All in all not a good guitar for a pro, but just fine for me

Sound : 7
I play for self enjoyment, I use a Sears XL200 amp and a pignose. Im not fancy. Do some blues and a little rock and roll. Grand kids think Im good, thats all that counts

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Electrics work fine. Neck was out of alignment, but was a easy fix. Frets were unused, action a bit high, but I use light gage string and it works good for slide playing.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I think I can play this guitar easier alive than dead. Hardware is made of steel. The finish is some kind of plastic coating 1/8th inch thick and even though I cracked it upon dropping it and held up good. Strap buttons fell off. I put them back on with longer screws. I depend on this guitar to entertian me, and my grand kids all the time.

Customer Support : 10
Harmony is out of business, but in my youth, I did business with Harmony and they were a good company then. Very helpful. Harmony always came through, and I was just a kid then

I've been playing 45 years, I also own a 1968 Harmony Rocket. I have owned several Harmony Guitars over the years and have found them to be honest guitars if not great. Compared to the imports of today,(And there are major brands being imported) it trully is a pretty good guitar. If your life doesnt depend on the top of the line, there is nothing so wrong with this guitar that it wouldnt work for you

standard strat stuff...alder body, nice sunburst finish. generic tuners actually work well...nice thin neck (im a girl, i have smaller hands anyways...)

Sound : 9
nice "grungy" sound i guess...im a drummer just messing around. playing just through a little 15w crate with amp distortion im amazed sometimes at the dirty ass shit this little thing can kick out...it's like a closet punk rock machine. i cant play lead worth shit so i cant tell you about that...when i play clean i think it sounds kinda twanky and metallic and i dont like it. the pickups make a LOT of noise when you turn up the volume. if i were to play live i would use this guitar but replace the pickups with something reputable. but for a cheap ass guitar, im really suprised

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
action is perfect for me i can really get around. frets were laid really nicely, way better than what i paid for. nothing is broken, guitar is about 10 yrs old. finish has a few cracks in it, but ive dropped it a few times so i think i did it...amazingly neck is still straight and even after dropping it it stayed in tune.

Reliability/Durability : 10
like i said i would replace the pickups, maybe even put a couple humbuckers on it, but i would so use it live. hardware has definately lasted...tuners are great. strap buttons need tightened only occasionally.

Customer Support : No Opinion
bought it off a friend didnt deal with harmony.

Overall Rating : 10
been playing about a year now. own a few crappy acoustics and i hate them...never touch them anymore. if it were stolen i would be heart broken. since im really a drummer and just a hobbiest at the guitar, i would buy another one of these because its a great value for the price. but of course, i'd get a ric. if $ were no matter...wouldn't we all?

Made in Early 90's, most likely in Korea or Indonesia.
22 frets
Solid-top
1 volume, 2 tone, 5-way selector
Original Harmony Strat Copy pickups (Neck, Neck, Bridge)
Passive Electronics
Woods are probably pine LOL.. Not really sure, most likely basswood
Almond-color finish
Strat-style Tremolo
Non-locking tuners
Neck scale is about the same as a Fender Standard Strat (my other guitar), maple fretboard
Came as a packaged deal, purchased at Bensberg Music in Camden, AR for around $300. Included all cables, a small Peavey Decade amp, tuner, strap, gig bag, pics, etc. Basically the same you'd buy a Squire "Strat Pack" today.

Sound : 1
This guitar sucks. Period
I use a Crate Blue VooDoo Full Stack, a full Boss pedalboard array
Very noisy all-around.
Shitty sound with original hardware. Can be modified to Strat specs with about $500, and still sounds like hammered dog shit.
This guitar makes a sound reminiscant of a cat being lowered slowly into a vat of acid. Little or no variety at all.
I hate it. On the plus side, it's a great acoustic practice guitar. I only keep it around because it IS a Strat copy.. and the guitars I play onstage are Strats

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Factory setup was shit.
Pickup adjustment was shit.

Reliability/Durability : 1
Hell no this guitar wouldn't withstand live playing! I'm gonna plug it in for ONE song this weekend, then trash the fuck out of it. Maybe some little kid in the audience would enjoy the busted ass neck of it for a souvenir.
All the original hardware fell apart about a year after I bought it.
The finish is still there and shiny after 10 years of owning it.
Strap buttons are very solid.
No depending on THIS guitar! If yo uown one, I suggest you use it for a trotline weight or a good fire-starter.

Customer Support : 1
I tried calling Harmony to send it in for repairs. They suck. They sent it back to me with the exact same original hardware. It fell apart AGAIN in a week's time.

Overall Rating : 1
I've been playing guitar now for roughly 12 years. I own 4 other guitars.. all Fender Standard and American Strats. I love them.
I only wish I'd asked the guy that sold it to me if he'd own one LOL
If somebody wanted to steal this guitar, I'd probably give them $5 and a kiss on the asshole! I'd definately never buy another Harmony guitar!
What do I LOVE about it? The wood is shitty enough that it won't break my amp when I thrash it!

To tell you the truth, I ddon't really know when this guitar was built. I do know that it was built in asia somewhere though.

The guitar sounds pretty good on an amp. There is some buzzing on the frets (especially on the E string).
It has three controll knobs, volume, tone, and another tone. The bridge was torn off of my friend's Squier and it works pretty good on the Harmony. The only problem is the fact that I can't use a whammy bar anymore. I think the pickups are origional...

It has bright red paint and the pick guard is white. The bridge is a light shade of brown (I have no Idea what kind of wood it is).

Sound : 7
The sound suits me. I play Alternative and Indie Rock and the guitar is great for those styles considering it has an unique sound. The guitar is LOUD if you crank the volume knob. The extra tone knob also enables some strange sounds. I generally like the sound my guitar makes. It's just not normal...

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
I don't know much about how the guitar was built considering I bought it used from a pawn shop. The nut was broken in half and the origional bridge needed alot of adjusting. The volume knob is loose. It's way to easy to turn it past 10, back to 1 and 2.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar would withstand live playing. I have no doubt in my mind about that. Everything seems pretty ok on the hardware part. I have played, standing up with a strap on for long periods of time with no problem at all and the finish is good enough to last you a long time. Overall, I would depend on it and I would bring it on a gig without a backup. (I have faith in it).

Customer Support : 4
The website isn't very good and I don't think I could every rely on Harmony to repair my guitar. When I boughty the guitar from a pawn shop, it needed to be repaired and it got repaired at a music shop. There is no need to send it back to Harmony at all....

Overall Rating : 9
I have only been playing for a few months and I am still learning. I think this guitar is a great first guitar for anyone. It was cheap, but it still stands up to your needs. if it were to get stolen, I'd be pretty mad. I don't know if I could find another Harmony like it. If I had the money, I'd get something better. But for know, this is my best friend. I chose it because it stood out and it just looked great. If you can find an old Harmony for cheap, buy it. They are great little guitars. The may not be able to compete with Fender or Gibson, but they can definitely stand the test of time and play.

same features as a fender strat. tuners are kind of crappy and the sound of the pickups isnt spectacular, but its a great student guitar. i tried to find good tuners to put of the guitar, but theyre so crappy that i cant do it without remlacing the headstock or drilling.

Sound : 3
good enough for a beginner. this was my first. i put fender vintage noiseless pickups on it and it sounds mint now.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
horrible action, lots of fret buzz. it plays pretty nice once i bought a new nut which raised the stings up.

Reliability/Durability : 8
very reliable guitar, not as tight as a fender. in fact, when i took the thing apart to put new pickups on it, i found that harmony hollowed out a whole lot of the body cavity and did a crappy job at it! oh well thats why you buy a good guitar once you get skills.

Customer Support : No Opinion
harmony's website (www.broadwaymusicco.com(something like that)) really sucks, and thier guitars blow and they know it. ive never actually dealt with them. don't get me wrong, i love my guitar (sentimental value) especially after i put good hardware on it, harmony just seems like a very disorganized company unlike fender or gibson

Overall Rating : 5
sucky for anybody more than a beginner, unless you invest 150 bucks in good hardware and junk.

This information is in many of the other reviews. The regular stuff, basically.

Sound : 6
This was the first guitar I had. It got to be very noisy. The electronics are shit. However, the tone, when it comes through, is very warm on the lead-type stuff. I had a hard time with the crunchy riffs I like to play though.

Now, I've dug it out after a four-year retirement and have put a new pickup in it. Hopefully, once I get the tuning keys in and try it out, it'll sound good. (The pickup seems to be putting out a clean, non-staticky signal - I bypassed the selector switch and tone knobs.)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
It always felt great, and to this day, is one of the best-feeling necks I've played on. The action was a little low, though, and I'm planning on changing that.

Reliability/Durability : 4
Electronics fell apart in about two years. Everything else seems OK.

This is a Korean-made strat made in late 70's, early 80's.It has a maple neck which is quite thin with a kind of filmy sheen to it.Neck looks brand new.non-locking no-name tuners, plastic nut, standard s/s/s pickup config.sunburst 3-tone finish is holding up well.no-name pickups, string thru body bridge config.bought used at a pawn shop (the pawnderosa) for $125 canadian which is apparently what its worth.it has 21 frets 1 volume 2tone controls.

Sound : 9
great guitar for blues or early rocknroll.i am using a danelectro dirty 30 amp with dirty sweet distortion and a dano slap-echo.killer blues buzz and surf sound.pups are quiet on all settings.neck pup gives great bluesy buzz, middle gets me a nice clear bell-like sound and bridge gives a super retro-twang. mid-position settings give a good blend of the above sounds.i am very surprised and pleased with the sound after the shop setup.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
action and intonation were adjusted, new daddario 10s, pickups adjusted, bridge hole is too large for the bridge which is weird but it works.after 20 years relatively few dents.sunburst finish is still very good, cheap plastic nut,new pup selector.neck is straight and in good condition

Reliability/Durability : 7
this guitar would withstand live playing. it is very heavy and very solid.hard ware has lasted 20 years and it should last another 20.this guitar has been thrown around a bit.finish is holding up very well.strap buttons are solid.this guitar is very dependable but i would still want abackup.

its basically one of the best guitars ive ever picked up its even better then my dads fender!

Sound : 10
it suits my style my dads style and my friends style. it works very well with amps the pick up is exactly the same as a fender. it also can give you varied sounds from heavy to light. i really think the sound of this guitar can compare with any fender

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i had to do nothing to it besides tune the guitar. I love the sunburst finish of this guitar. this guitar has only on flaw the plastic bridge sticks out a bit. and the neck olay better then my friends 73' strat.

Reliability/Durability : 10
man this guitar will probebly last me the rest of my life. if the hardware has lasted this long its bound to last a few more at least. i would use this guitar at a gig (if i get one).

the pawn shop will take it back no problem.

ive been playing this guitar for almost a year now and its better than any fender ive picked up so far. if this guitar was lost or stolen i would try to find one just like it. i wish i had a metal pick gaurd and a sway bar made out of solid gold to match the sunburst finish. I think anybody would be happy with this guitar. and i dont know why sombody would spend $5000 for bumpy undressed fretts from gibson, or fender. it used to only the copies that were like this and now the copy is beating the original.

Unknown year or country make(Bought at Pawn Shop, 21 frets solid top, 1 volume, 2 tone, 5-way selector, Pickups are S/S/S, Body is unknown, but neck is birdseye maple, with maple fretboard with vintage yellow finish, guitar body is 3-tone sunburst, body style is strat style, bridge is a fender standard trem copy, the tuners are no name brand non-locking, neck is pretty thin compared with some other guitars I have, the people at the shop threw in a fender gig bag as a bonus

Sound : 7
I play lots of Metal, Blues, and Classic Rock. I play through a Rogue MHT-1000. The sound is good, but on high output on any volume over 6, the pickups give off lots of feedback unless you stand far away. The bridge has a nice bright sound, but the neck could be better, it's a little dissapointing. I like the bridge pickup, but a fender gold tone would make it much better

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
Since I didnt get the guitar new, i'd have to say that the action was decent when i got it, except for a little buzz on the E string. The pickups were set up great, the routing was just fine, my high E tuner was a little rusty, but a little WD-40 fixed that up, and the nut needed replacing(Someone tried a bad fix-up job)

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar works great, after a standard maintenance job, I took this guitar to my gig and it worked great, I would say that this guitar is awfully durable seeing as my strap came off and it dropped to the ground and still stayed in tune, I would gig with a backup, but that's just my safety thing, I think it is a very good guitar

I don't reall know anythibg about the history on this guitar becayse I got it for Christmas a few months ago but here goes:Its got a volume control knob, two tone knobs, and a five way switch.I've got three single pickups as you might have guessed, and they seem to do the trick. Its got a string-thru-body I think. Non locking tuners, but still stays in tune preatty well even as hard as I play on it.

Sound : 8
It does preatty well for the music I play but I really want to get a guitar with two humbuckers.I'm just using a Peavey Rage 158 amp and that's all the accesories I have. It sounds good though for being $80.00. I think with the right equipment and the right hands you can do just about whatever you want on this thing.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
When I got this guitar for Christmas I'm preatty sure it was out of tune so I got it tuned. Pickups were fine. The metalfrets on the fret bouard had some dents in them, from the previous owner.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I think you could play a concert or two on this baby. I remember playing so hard on it at times actually trying to break the strings so I could change them amd it didn't happen until about a week later. The finish seems fine to me but it can scratch off fairly easily. Strap buttons haven't faled me yet. Ican depend on it. I would ALWAYS have a backup no matter what guitar I was using.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A, Thankfully nothing too serious has hppened to it.

I've been playing for about three months now, and the only other gear I own is my amp chord and picks(s). If something major would happen to my guitar I would try to find something cheep wtih two humbuckers (Epiphone SG). I have only really compared it to my cousins Kramer and of course his is better, I had absolutly no choice in what I got. I wish I had a Angus Young Signatured Gibson SG, but shit I don't have that kinda of money, I need a car.

I just picked this thing up from a pawn shop. I don't know what model it is or when it was made. It is a strat copy with a maple neck and fret board, vintage tremolo, and solid wood body with a veneer front and back. I don't know what kind of wood the body or veneer are but it is freekin' heavy. I assume the veneer was for a sunburst finish but mine is vintage blond. The semi-sealed non-locking tuners are smooth and hold a tune well. It has a medium neck (just the right size)with medium frets and a gloss finish. The fret work was done very well. It has a single ply white pickguard with eight screws. The five way switch is a little loose feeling but is quiet when switching. The neck tone control is scratchy when turned down under 2, a little contact cleaner would probably fix it. The other controls are quiet. The three single coil pickups are surprisingly quiet. I have no idea who made them.

Sound : 10
I play surf tunes mostly, this guitar is perfect, clean and bright. I also play some blues and rock, again it fits the bill. It's not great for heavy metal. I have an early seventies Sano tube combo; 20watt, single gain, 12" speaker, spring reverb and tremolo. Almost any sound is possible with this guiar and amp, sweet mellow blues to bright twangy surf licks. Again, no metal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
This had been sitting in a pawn shop for who knows how long. It had the crustiest strings I've ever seen and was pretty dirty. It was setup so badly I think a kid got hold of a screw driver and turned every screw he could find. I took it home, tore it apart and cleaned it thoroughly. I put it back together, restrung it and adjusted the string height, pickup height, and intonation. I'm still fine tuning it to my needs but like I said it was way off when I got it. The finish on the neck and frets is excellent. This guitar fits like a glove. It plays so nice I could play it in my sleep. The vintage blond paint is dull and it is obvious they didn't do much sanding before painting. However, it stands up and looks good. Vintage blond is very forgiving, it hides the flaws and the chips don't show cause the wood it the same color. All the chrome is in great shape and the pickup covers and knobs are yellowed with age. I didn't want a guitar with a perfect finish so this guitar is perfect for me. I should give it a 10 because a guitar with character, to me, looks better than a perfect new guitar. I'm going to give it an 8 only because the paint isn't "perfect".

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is a tank. I could use it to drive in fence posts all day then gig with it at night without having to retune. This guitar will last forever, I may have to repaint it in the future but the hardware is here to stay. I would replace the scratchy neck tone pot before gigging with it. I never play with the tone down that far but better safe than sorry.

I got a bunch of Christmas money and wanted a "Strat". I was planning to buy a Kramer Focus 111s which would have cost me about $140 after paying for shipping and buying white plastic parts to replace the black. I decided to check some pawn shops to see what I could find for that price. After quite a few shops I was getting discouraged. The only guitars in that price range were garbage; light weight plywood bodies, sharp unfinished frets, floppy bridges, stiff tuners, weak stail pickups and bad finishes. I could go on but you get the point. Mine had a $160 price tag on it. It stood out because it has a maple fret board, which I prefer. Vintage blond is also my favorite color for a strat. I was surprised when I picked it up and it weighed as much or more than guitars costing five times as much. I plugged it in and played. It sounded horible because of the crusty strings and BAD setup but felt good and all the knobs and switches worked. I got the guy to throw in a new set of strings then beat him down to $112. I got it home and spent a couple hours cleaning and setting it up. It was missing the wammy bar which I bought for $2 at my local friendly guitar shop. I plugged it into my tube amp and was blown away. This thing sounds and plays better than any I've ever played. I'm still trying to find out how I got this thing so cheap. I love this guitar. I would definately try to replace it if it were stolen but would have to spend at least $400, there is no way I could play a Squire now.

this is one of the first guitars i ever got... i got it through finger hut, in 1990, and it has been working ever since. it has a solid body....no ply wood on this one, the neck is a little fat and has 22 fret's.. with clear finish... three single pick ups...and a one way whammy bar,
it has a five way pick up switch, and one volume, and tone controll.. it had a sun burst finish, but after several years, it has been repainted, now it is purple....

Sound : 10
i play rock, and punk, and it (guitar) has held up through all kinds of stuff... i play through a fender M-80 combo amp, with speaker cabinet. it is a little noisy on the top end volume, but it has a full sound, and alot of sustain..it sounds great on clean, or dist. the only problem really was about on the 17th fret on the E and A string, it was a little dead

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
when i got it the action was a little high, but i dropped it down, the pick ups are very hot, and i have had no problems with them, the five way switch is a little loose, and cuts out, but, i just tap it a little, and it's good to go, the ground was a little screwie, but i taped it up... good as new..

Reliability/Durability : 10
like i've said, it has stood up to me playing, and dropping it for 11 years, and every thing is still holding up. the finish was very hard, and took a sevear beating over the years, it was still good when i refinished it, i just got tired of the color...the strap buttons are solid, and they never, slipped, or stripped.. of the three guitars i have, i would say this one is the best, on the dependableity scale, it is a solid guitar, and has not let me down yet. i have played this guitar, as my only guitar for close to 8 years, and it never let me down.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i don't know about customer support, never had problems...

Overall Rating : 9
i have been playing for about 17 years, but this was and is one of the best, guitars i have had, or played. if it was stolen, i would not get another one, because in my mind no other could compare.. i love the durability of it, and it is rock solid, i have played an a squire 2, and this baby blew it away!!!!!!!

Year unknown, 22 frets, S/S/S pickups, tremolo. Maple neck with birdseye maple fretboard. Body looks to be ash, and is heavy as solid ash, but it's really dense plywood, probably with an ash top. 3 tone sunburst, with decent silky finish on back of neck. My friend bought cheap at flea-market as a factory reject, because it was supposed to have a gloss finish on back of neck, but it never got applied. Non-locking tuners, medium neck profile, vintage trem. Average features for a strat, except everything was lowest possible quality--if it was standard features with good hardware, it would have been an 8. Constantly going out of tune, at both tuners and trem. 5-position blade was loose, and the pots for tone and volume were dirty or rusting.

Sound : 1
Worst-sounding guitar I ever played. Previous guitars had been Fender Mex strat, "Effector", Gibson ES335-S chambered solidbody, which had broken its headstock and so I was borrowing this for a while until I could get a new electric. Since, I've had a Peavey Generation 2 amd now an Anderson Hollow Drop-top custom-order strat. At the time I was running it through a Sunn Model T head and custom speaker cab. This guiar sounded thin and lifeless...no warmth or sustain to speak of. The pickups were noisy, lacked sparkle, and quacked like a rabbid field-mouse in combo positions (i.e., not at all). Clean tones were sterile and overdrive was harsh (not the best amp for overdrive, given). Even the infamous "Effector" at least had a hot, smooth overdrive, especially with the on-board distortion switched on. The effector was a little worse in all other aspects, but at least sounded a little better. My '96 Fender Mexican strat sounded warm and resonant, and costs the same amount new.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
Action was high and stayed high, even with saddle-height adjusted. Strings, though light, refused to bend (think Peavey Predator). Neck was not a tight fit to the body, and the guitar itself was too heavy and lacked balance. Controls were loose and rusting, as remarked above. Minor finish errors, not counting the factory error which left the neck UNFINISHED--no silky oil or even cheap gloss. Some monor fret buzz. An unweildy and poor guitar, even by Fneder Mex strat standards. Unweildy compared to most low-end strats.

Reliability/Durability : 1
It was rusting just from bedroom use, the blade switch was loose, the pots were contaminated, jack was loose, and I was afriad the tuners would break if I even bumped them. Still better than my Gibson due to the broken headstock. At least the effector was durable (so so so sad when an EFFECTOR can even be compared to another guitar, much less deemed superior).

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 1
This sums it up--in all respects equal to a Peavey Predator, except a Peavey Predator is more playable. That's as bad a review as anyone can ever give a guitar, I think. Go for a Fender import for a backup guitar or beginning guitar...some of those can even be later modified to good intermediate or performance guitars. This lacks the potential even for that.

This was bought through Fingerhut by my fiancee so I could mellow out.
It was packaged with a black plastic amp (5 watter by 'Harmony')actually SCREAMED and I sometimes still use it as a PRE AMP/FUZZ BOX.

The Strat o Copy (as I call it) was made by a good man that day.
I did not know the body is a lamenation product. Nor did I know that the NUT is plastic or that the Pick ups were actually Legos with Radio Shack guts.

I have yet to find a machine that performs as well as this girl without costing an arm AND A leg. The only improvment I will make (after reading the other reviews) is to replace the Nut with bone and getting some Locking tuners.

Sound : 10
This StratoCopy sings. It is quiet. The pick ups are HIGH output and I am very glad the ZOOM 2020 floor F/X pedal I use work so well with it and the GTX-100 Crate w/ Celestrian speaker amp.

THIS IS NO LIE. Got a friend who just got a Squier (strat o copy) from Musician's Friend. Minwe sounds better and his CANNOT EVEN GET CLOSE TO THE ACTION LEVEL MINE CAN . And Baby, my action is so low, you FLY over the frets.

But others have the same problem. What are ya gonna do?

Made in Taiwan, with 22 frets and an alder body. One volume, two tones, 5-way pickup selector, three single-coil pickups. Stock, passive pickups. Maple neck with transparent finish. Vintage tremelo bridge. Non-locking tuners. 25.5" maqle neck/fingerboard.

Sound : 7
This guitar is good for everything I play (jazz, country, metal, blues, rock). I play it through a Peavey Rage and two Ibanez pedals (a Soundtank Phaser and Tonelock DE-7 Delay). The pickups have good, traditonal Strat tone. Of course, they're very noisy, especially in the neck/middle and bridge/middle positions. The neck sounds bright, but also full (very bell-like). The neck pickup sounds jazzy with the treble strings, but riffs on the bass strings almost sound like a a picked Rickenbacker or Fender Presision bass. Of course the clean sounds are pretty good, but with full overdive, this bridge single-coil delivers overdrive with more crunch and detail than a humbucker.
And if you can only afford a practice amp, buy a Peavey Rage. I think the both the overdive and clean sounds are better than an entry-level two-channel Crate or Park. (Noisy, but pretty similar to both the Fender clean sound and the Marshall overdrive sound.)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
The action is a little high. The middle pickup is too low, but the other pickups are high enough, and they are level.
The first fret has rough edges. The pickups selectors are noisy, but this is something you'll find on most single-coil guitar (even Fenders that cost more than $1000).

Reliability/Durability : 6
This guitar keeps tuning pretty well, considering I like I'm always doing wide bends and using lots of whammy bar. The hardware hasn't given me any problems yet (and I bought this guitar used almost two years ago). I haven't noticed any further finish wear. The strap buttons are good. Since most Strats (include this one) have badly-designed bridges, I wouldn't depend on this as my only guitar for gigs.

Customer Support : 1
I've never asked for customer service. This is a used guitar, so Harmony definitely wouldn't help me. If I had to spend more than $50 dollars on repairs, I think it would be better to use my money on a new guitar from Warmoth parts, or factory-direct from Carvin.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing guitar for ten years. Even though I have three other guitars (Epiphone Les Paul Custom, Epiphone SG Special, and Guild Burnside), this Harmony Strat sounds and plays the best. If this was stolen, I'd buy a mid-priced Strat. I don't think I'll ever find a better budget guitar, and besides, after ten years of playing, I deserve to have a guitar with higher quality and some custom features.
I like the high action because it strengthens my lead guitar chops. And besides, I like to play lap-style slide riffs on my guitar (I tune to E major), so my action has to be high. The last owner of this guitar flipped over the bridge saddles, and set up the bridge to bend UP as well as down, two features that help me play like Jeff Beck. Bar-dives are only three-and-a-half steps, which is a good compromise between metal mania and reasonable tuning stability.
I wish this guitar had 22 frets. I would prefer 24 frets (this is an option on Warmoth necks), but then the neck pickup would be closer to the bridge, which would lessen the high contrast between the neck and bridge pickup sounds. After years of trying Strat guitars, I've finally found one with a good alder body. (By the way, if you want a Fender guitar with an alder body, you'll probably have to spend more than $1000.) If the body of my next Strat doesn't sound as good as this one, I might replace it with this one.

ITS NOISY.The pickups are very bright sounding, was good at rock(to a degree) and i actually did like the sound/tone.But the neck was warped easily. The finish nicked even easier.I never had a vibrato-arm, like i even use it.The thing went out of tune every other day, and tuning it was a bitch cause the strings would slip out somehow and go back to step one of the tuning procedure.I could never get a ballsy tone out of it, i got to much buzz, and the frets wore away.Never saw that happen before.

The usual 3 pickup, 21 fret, 5-way switch, strat bodied, onoriginal, boring strat copy. i will admit, i submited a review earlier but because I have played two of these pieces of shit I figured It would be best to go out and warn all people who buy this thing.

Sound : 1
Suits the shit style, and it's also great if you play grunge and you want to smash this thing, but i digress, Kurt Cobain would roll in his grave if you smashed this piece of shit. Nirvana can't even come through this junky piece of shit. The pickups squak like a parakeet, and the hum is louder than the notes themselves, if you can call them notes.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Here is why I submitted the review, those shitty Harmony strat necks, theyre total shit. I build much better guitars than Harmony, and I'm cheaper. The neck from this guitar went onto a pine bodied Jaguar guitar (though my friend thinks its an Explorer shape, he's way off) that i built myself, the pine body stood many times the abuse the neck did. finally i got tired of having too many guitars started that i could not finish (Or make elegant). So I smashed my own creation, and Look how all my work stood up. First I Plugged it in, turned my amp on, and pounded it around my room whaile mom was'nt home, and found out that I am a bas ass body builder (not the kind that goes to gyms). The minue the neck touched the floor the fretboard came off, the neck split into 5 pieces, and the truss rod came out (Which I am going to reuse on my own super-strength necks). Later I built a mini guitar using the fretboard off of the strat neck, the majority of the guitar was made of Lowes plywood. I built it, smashed it around the backyard, and It survived until I threw it into to pavement infront of my house and the neck broke off, which did not even have a truss rod. Which says alot about my craftsmanship in my shitty little shed behind my house. Even dodging hornets while cutting a neck out in 90 degree weather did not stop me from making a better guitar than harmony. And i did it for free with a loose single coil and a bridge from a harmony student. My damn thing had perfect action and looked original and better too.

Reliability/Durability : 1

I HAVE A EARYLY 90'S SUNBURST STAT COPY WITH THE USUAL 3 SINGLE COILS.
THIS GUITAR HAS A VERY PRETTY FINISH BUT THE NECK IS A REAL PIECE OF DOO DOO, I HAVE A LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS GUITAR AND YOU WILL SEE WHY. THE NECK IS MAPLE AND THE USUAL 21 FRETS. STANDARD TUNERS, REGULAR VIBRATO TAIL PIECE, SMALL FRETS. IT EVEN CAME WITH A SMALL AMP THAT I BLEW UP IMMEDIATELY TWICE.

Sound : 9
THIS IS THE LOVE PART OF MY REVIEW. THIS GUITAR KICKS ASS. I LOVE THE SOUND OF ITS SH**TY SINGLE COILS. THIS GUITAR ROCKS WHEN RECORDED! I CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY IT SOUNDS GOOD BUT IT DOES. IT CAPTURES THE BASIC STRAT SOUND PERFECTLY. THE ONLY BAD THING IS THAT THE PICKUPS ARE SQUEAL PRONE. I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EARS AT TIMES.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
THIS IS THE PART I HATE ABOUT THIS GUITAR. I HAVE SPENT NUMEROUS HOURS ADJUSTING AND BANGING FRETS, CHANGING THE NUT, TWEAKING THE TRUSSROD AND RAISING THE PICKUPS TO GET A DECENT SOUND AND ACTION OUT OF THIS GUITAR. I GUESS IT IS A LABOR OF LOVE BECAUSE ONCE ADJUSTED THIS LITTLE BABY ROCKS!

Reliability/Durability : 8
MY GUITAR HAS BEAUTIFUL SUNBURST FINISH THAT IS EQUAL TO ANY. I THINK THE BODY IS PLYWOOD BUT IT IS VERY LIGHTWEIGHT. I LOVE THE MAPLE NECK BUT THE FRETS ON MY GUITAR NEEDED A FEW TAPS TO ELIMINATE BUZZING. I WOULD NEVER GIG WITHOUT A BACKUP BUT THIS GUITAR IS VERY RELIABLE

ARE YOU KIDDING? ACTUALLY FINGERHUT SENT ME A NEW AMP AFTER I BLEW UP THE FIRST ONE. BUT THE SECOND ONE LASTED LESS THAN A MONTH.

I STILL GO BACK TO THIS PIECE OF CRAP BECAUSE I LOVE THE MAPLE FRETBOARD AND THE SOUND I GET FROM THIS AX. I USE A MARSHALL VALVESTATE 100 WATT COMBO THOUGH A 4-12 PEAVEY CAB AND IT SOUNDS GREAT. THIS GUITAR HAS A CLEAR SHARP SOUND THAT WORKS WELL IN A BAND.

This thing is just like a stratocaster except.
1. It literally sucks.
2. A few parts are too big (The Bridge and the knobs are too tall)
3. The pickups are something I could have made out of legos and refriderator magnets.

Sound : 1
This guitar sounds like shit anywhere on anything. If you like it you need to be in a straitjacket. this thing couldent even pass an inspection for quality at Yugo.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
This guitar is contrary to my belif on harmony. I dropped the neck after i took it off and it broke in a million pieces. The pickups look and sound like plastic and copper wire, the Tuners break strings, the only thing good on this guitar is the nut and the body, and the potentiometers.

Reliability/Durability : 1
After you put on new strings, five way selector, pickgaurd, pickups, neck, tuners, string guides, strap buttons, bridge, screws and anything else that might go wrong, you might have a guitar that is great for gigs. The finish is the best stock thing on this guitar, Wish I hadent stripped it off to repaint it aqua and have my friends sign it, I hope they don't kill me for having them sign a piece of shit and me having to repaint it again because I suck at paint jobs.

this guitar is in pieces now and is going to be transformed into a 3 humbucker superstrat with a floyd rose with a D-tuna, stew mac neck, clear pickgaurd, EMG pickups, and a Kramer american Neck. If somebody had stolen it earlier I would have killed them for saving this thing from getting a makeover into something useful. This worlds full of useless guitars and there is not enough room for one more. I am starting my own buisness "No More Shitty Guitars" the NMSG.

This guitar was the first electric I got, it has a Strat style body that is one of the most durable that i have seen(even though it is plywood). The pickups are cheaply wound and put together terribly, but they work.

Sound : 8
This guitar really suits the heavy music that i play(powerman 5000, metallica, kiss, ac\dc)and it sounds good while playing classic rock too. but the cheap pickups are what make this one sound different from any other guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
This guitar was put together for budget playing and it shows. the body on mine has been to school and back ans hasnt gained another scratch.
the finisn was a 3tone sunburst, but i am going to refinish it so its white.

Typical asian Stratocaster clone (Korean make). 3 single coils, one volume, two tone, 5 way selector. Passive electrics. Maple neck with maple fingerboard, sunburst finish, plywood body that doesnt actually sound all that shitty (for plywood).

Sound : 7
I play alternative, and just about any flavor of rock you can immagine. I use a Marshall valvestate combo and a Big Muff. Lets face it. This is a cheap asian guitar, but it is one of the better ones I have played, the neck isnt too horrible on fingers, and the strings can be set farily low without buzzing (I use 9's). The sound quality is remarkable for plywood, and it has the typical strat sound. The stock pickups just sucked it up. They were weak and had a low output, but there were no microphonics whatsoever. After installing new pickups and rewiring and properly sheilding the guitar, and adding a bone nut, it sounded much better. I am almost satified with the guitar, since I have little money to buy a new one. This is a good guitar for the price, but a peavey or squier would be much better.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Action was terrible, but I corrected that. The bridge and tuners are bad, so I added two more springs to the tremolo, and cut the old ones to improve preload. The tremolo is usable, but I wouldnt recomend it. The tuners are cheap, but do their jobs. There was one fret that stuck out just a little on the side (you could only tell by running your finger over it), but I filed that down. The fret crowning is actually very good for a cheap instrument. The nut was a cheap plastic that I replaced, mostly because there was a crack in it. The rating here is probley 4 on a stock instrument, but it was much improved (by me).

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Ummm, I havnt gigged... at all. I would gig with it if I had a more expensive guitar that I wouldnt want to get screwed up. It needs straplocks.

This guitar is your basic Strat Copy, 22 fret, 3 single coil pickups, whammy, two tone knobs and 5 position pickup selector switch.
Amazingly stays in tune no matter how wild you go on the whamy, fat neck, but you get used to it, and fair flexing of strings
Did I mention HEAVY?
note, I don't have a Harmony whamy bar, it's homemade and I hate it, anyone know if a original Fender bar will fit it? e-mail me ckviper@yahoo.com

Sound : 8
Good all around guitar, play under hard overdrive or soft mellow finger rolls, all sounds reasonable. I use a basic little Crate GX-15 and ocasionaly a Boss Flanger pedal. Gets good full sound when wanted, but when set on lowest pickup gets the highs better than most other Strat copies I have played on the same pickup position. VERY hard to pop strings on this one. You just keep playing and playing and playing..

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I bought the guitar used, the middle pickup was set WAY to low, the truss was strait, no whammy bar, after going ajusting the bridge and making sure the 12 fret harmonic was so fun to play..
few chips out of the cream colored paint, nothing really bad at all, has stickers ect in spots now, so you would never notice.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a realiable guitar, stays in tune, very resistant to poping strings, even under abusive players.. (we all got a friend or two that get a little pick happy) The strap buttons are solid, but make sure you have the strap on good, because it is heavy. This guitar you can play without a backup, it's dependable

basic strat copy, maple neck with maple fingerboard laminated...no skunk stripe, plywood body but not close to lightweight heaviest strat I've played. 3 single coils, 5 way selector, medium neck profile, small frets, 7.25 radius. 6 point trem. nothing fancy, but it is a strat...7

Sound : 8
Sounded good unplugged...not typical for plywood. When I buy an electric, I never plug in...if it sounds good acoustically, electronics are secondary...good electronics can only go so far. The standard pickups were, typical, thin sounding and microphonic, this can be corrected by properly potting them if you so desire...but I had an old set of Jackson USA single coils to throw in...much better! But still too this with the 009's, restrung with my standard 012's and this became a tone machine...I play straight into an old sears tube practice amp usually as I have kids and I can only play when they are asleep. Occasionally I do plug into my Carvin 60W 1/2 stack....never use effects, overall guitar sounds great for blues, jazz and rock. With the fretboard radius and small frets, string bending is less than desirable, but I am usually a rhythm player anyway..suits my style to a T.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
Factory set-up was poor. pickups were too low, intonation was way off. Paint was thick and nicely done for a budget job. neck pocket was tight. Spme of the pickguard screws were stripped, but not an issue. Had trouble staying in tune...now here's where I disagree with some of the other reviews...while the tuners are not top notch. they are not usually the reason these guitars go out of tune... it's the NUT!!! Replace the nut with a bone nut and cut it properly and most of your tuning problems will be solved. This little fella rarely goes out of tune. I do not have the tremolo blocked, though I do have 5 trem springs and they are as tight as can be. I do use the tremolo occasionally and it returns to pitch every time...Too often I have seen people put a set of schallers or grovers on a guitar thinking it will keep them in tune only to have the same problem. Almost all import guitars use cheap plastic nuts...this should be the first thing replaced!!! I prefer bone, but there are some very good synthetics out there too. Since I do all my own work on my instruments it is really inexpensive for me to do this...$10 max. 3 for the factory set-up. it's a 9 now.

No problems so far...no rust at all. strap buttons are average at best and a locking strap is in order. Never breaks strings. I rarely gig anymore but if required to, I would trust this without a backup.

harmony no longer exists...they are just there in name thanks to fingerhut.

been playing 22 years. also have a les paul, an old f-hole acoustic and a basic dreadnaught. If stolen or lost...no big deal, not much invested and I've nearly worn the neck out anyway. I would not probably buy it again and instead build my own... While harmony's are not all that bad, there are better values out there now.

this is a older strat copy I think, probably 70's-early 80's,a maple neck w/maple fretboard,4 bolt w/truss rod adjustment at neck pickup, very light body(plywood,I'm guessing) a 5 way switch which works fine, vintage smaller frets,i put a Pearly Gates humbucker in the bridge position, screwed down the whammy bar,and it sounds great,(also a nice sound with the humbucker and middle single coil pickup mixed) I like the feel of the neck,U shape (thinner and not as flat as the newer models)I know this is hard to believe but in fact,I like this cheap guitar better than my more expensive Fenders GO FIGURE!!

Sound : 8
used with a Sound City 50 watt tube head w/4-10 cabinet and Sansamp classic, also a Roland Chorus Echo tape unit its got a pretty good sound with the Seymour Duncan humbucker(the pickup cost me more than the guitar did)

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5
of course the body wood is kind of cheap, but it doesn't seem to hurt the sound, installed Grover tuners and it has great action,

Reliability/Durability : 8
this guitar has been through the whole mess that goes with practices and gigging,,from extreme cold to being left in the trunk of my car in 100 degree heat,,it still is fine,,I put graphite saddles and I NEVER break a string on this baby

Overall Rating : 10
just wanted to say that money doesn't always get you want you want, sometimes the cheaper stuff will work better for you,,no I have played other Harmony strat copies and none have come anywhere close to the feel of this one

This axe was found used at a pawn shop in horrible condition but intact and almost free. I had to spend a day sanding the old finishes off of the body to discover what I had. Krylon is tough to sand! It is the basic far east strat copy. The beast has 3 single coils, volume and tone knob, covered tuners that are loose but work. The electronics are passive. Make- generic. It has a pretty good shaped strat body made of numerous pieces of wood, but not a true "plywood". The neck is maple and a fairly thick U shape. Good for big hands. It was originally biege. The 5-way selector is of the cheap enclosed plastic variety, but it worked with some lubricant sprayed into it. It has a floating bridge with 6 saddles that will probably hurt strings without some filing.

Sound : 5
The sounds of the pickups are pretty decent for what they are, generic. The bridge pickup is not nearly hot enough, but the middle and neck pickups actually sound pretty good through my silver faced Champ. The tone roll-off is non-existent. Hopefully a re-wire will fix this. An inexpensive bridge pickup such as an EMG or Carvin will make this guitar sound pretty decent.

Since I did a complete rebuild, it is now much better than the stock harmony models I have seen. The neck was over-lacquered, but the frets were pretty good although small. They either wear well, or someone was more interested in bad paint jobs than playing the thing. The nut was broken, so I used a graphite nut. The action was really good after adjusting the truss rod and the bridge saddles, much better than I expected. It will now take a medium low to high setting with no string buzz (009-042 strings).

Reliability/Durability : 3
The strap buttons had pulled out, so they apparantly were weak. The pickup switch needs to be replaced with a quality unit, just like any other cheap strat copy. The output jack was bad when I got it. With going over with some decent replacement parts, it will be a very dependable guitar. I would play it live in a gig where I was afraid my better guitars might get stolen or damaged, such as a frat party.

They still have a factory?

Overall Rating : 5
I have been playing for a few years and have owned many other strat, les paul, and tele copies. This one is below the quality of the cheap Peaveys and Electras, especially, I assume, as set up from the factory. With a good going over and between 50 and 100 US dollars in pickup and electronics improvements, it is as good as any other copy if you like a large neck and are used to playing with some force. If someone stole it, I would find another cheapo and overhaul it since that is a hobby of mine, but I would not seek out this particular model as I would a Peavey Predator or Reactor.
