1978 solid black with Bartolini Humbuckers and tunamatic bridge. I've had two ES-335 in past years, and this is by far the finest instrument. The finger board is ebony with the mother of pearl inlays.

I play it through a Laney GS-50 amp with Digitech RP-2000 so there is no limit to the sound range (the RP-2000 has a digital sound that I would like to get rid of, but the Laney amp makes up for that). It has the hollow body sound that I like but it also has a toggle for single wound to humbucker sound so I can also get something close to a Telecaster sound. I play this for electric and a Gurian Rosewood Jumbo for accoustic. The accoustic is the main reason for the Laney.

I bought it used for $750 in 1999 (I thought I might get arrested for stealing it) It was and is in perfect condition - no flaws that I am aware of. I let it get dusty, but there are no noticeable scratches. It is a beautiful instrument, but I was actually looking for a Les Paul. When I played this guitar I stopped looking for a Les Paul although I do prefer the Les Paul look.

Everything on the guitar is solid. I have noticed a little rust on some tiny parts in the bridge that will be difficult to clean but not really noticeable to the casual observer. I have no back up electric guitar. In fact I've only broken one string at a gig since I bought it in two years.
