This guitar originaly had a black glossy finish that was very badly abused. It is a Les Paul style, with a double cut away. It has two Single coil Humbucker pickups. A tune-o-matic bridge. It has two volume controls and one tone control and A three way switch. It has Grover tuners on a bolt on neck with a rose wood finger board with 22 frets from the back it looked like it was a butcher block type body. After taking the original finish off I found it was a solid one piece body. The switch access plate has H-120 DC on it. I wrote an email to the company and found out that it was built in 1987. The DC stands for double costom. The gentleman the replied informed me that they did make a few costom models of the H-120. I have read reviews that there were about 200 of these made.

I play a very wide variaty of music. I am currently playing in a studio setting with a behringer v-amp pro. I have used this guitar with most of the settings on the v-amp and have not had any problems with noise, I get a very rich sound. The only problem I have had is the tone control. It doesn't have a lot of response, or at least not as much as I would like. But I have overcome that with the v-amp. So far I have found very little that would make me not like this guitar

I can't say anything about how the guitar was setup at the factory. I bought it second hand. The pickups were adjusted as close to the string as they could posibly be. The bridge was so out of adjustment that I could not play up the frets without the notes playing sharp. The finish was in such terible shape that the only option I had was to refinish it. Some day I am going to send it in to the factory and get an original finish applied. But in the meantime I will live with the natural wood with an ebony stain that I applied. After a lot of readjusting I was able to come up with one of the best playing guitars I have ever played.

Reliability/Durability : 10
As I said in the last section The guitar was in bad shape. But with a litte TLC I have a guitar that I would'nt be afraid to take anywhere and do anything with. I Had never heard of the Heritage company before I purchased this guitar, But realized that it was a quality in strument right awayand worth repairing. I was suprised to find out that it was one thier economy model.

Customer Support : 10
I wrote an email to the company just after I puchased the guitar. I was informed about the year and that it was a costom guitar. and that a "few" of these were made. I can't remember who the gentleman was, My computer reacently crashed and I lost all of my old emails. But he was very helpfull. I was informed that I can still get parts for the guitar, and that they would send them directly to me. He also informed me that it was worth about 800 dollars and That to replace it would take 1500.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 35 years, I also have a fender bass, And a seagul acoustic. I have played acoustic guitars almost exclucively over the years. I felt I had come full circle with them and was looking for a new sound. This guitar was the right price at the right time. I have tried different Guitars since buying this one and have not found any that I would consider paying the money for when I have one that does what this one will do.

I Guess I am One of the lucky ones, I picked this guitar up in a second hand store for next to nothing. It is a Heritage H120DC Ebony. It has A double cutaway and Two pickups. Two volume knobs and one tone knob. I was told by Heritage that it has a rosewood fingerboard and the body is Poplar. It was made in 1987

Sound : 10
Until I purchased this guitar I played mostly acoustic. I guess You don't miss what you don't have. I am playing it through a Behringer V-Amp Pro and it sounds great. It has virtualy no noise. I have played it with almost all of the presets on the v-amp and have yet to hear any thing other than what I expected, Just good music.

The original finish was in realy poor shape, ( It looked like some one played tennis with it ), O. K. I'm exagerating just a little. But with some tender loving care I stripped it and refinished it with an ebony stain that brought the grain of the wood out very nicly. The plugin wires were broken off, So I had to re-solder them before I could even hear it. The pickups had been adjused as close to the strings as posible, the bridge was so far out of adjustment that the strings went sharp as I played up the frets.
But after all of the problems were taken care of I have one of the best guitars that I have ever played. The adjust-o-matic bridge is one of the best. It allows total control over adjustment.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Any other guitar that had been through what this guitar had been through would have been thrown away. I was able to readjust everything. I would not hesitate to take this guitar on stage without a backup. I have played it for hours and not had to tune it.

Customer Support : 10
I emailed the company right after I purchesed it. They were very helpful. I cant remember the gentlemans name that answered my email but He infomed me when it was made and gave me all the perticulars about the guitar, And informed me that if I should need them , They have all the Parts availablt to fix it.

Overall Rating : 10
I Have been Playing for 35 years. As I said I have played mostly acoustics. I had a Yamaha FG350 that I wore out over the years, I Just recently purchesed a Seagull S6 And I have a Fender bass. I have a hard time putting down my Heritage to play the others now. If this guitar was ever stolen ....

After reaching out to Heritage Guitars, I found out that these were only made for a couple of years and possibly 200-400 were made. There were 3 color options: red, blue, and white. Mine is really more of a dark teal...not sure if it faded to that color or if it's original, but the brochure only shows it available in those 3 colors. I know mine is original. It's set up like a Les Paul Jr. One pickup, one knob. Love it. The pickup is the size of a humbucker but it's a single coil. I actually tried to drop a Seymour Duncan antiquity humbucker in it, but the pickup ring is unique on this guitar and it didn't fit. Trying a Gibson ring didn't work out too well either and I just went back to the Heritage. The body style is sort of like a basic Les Paul shape with a pointier or sharper horn on the lower cutaway. No binding. It's Heritage, so it's very Gibson-like, especially since these are VERY early Heritages. They stopped making them after only a couple of years.

Sound : 10
Fits my style well. It's got more of a Tele or Jr. sound, and sounds excellent. I play through an older Music Man 112-RD...very clean Fender-ish sound. It's super basic...one pickup, one knob. So, there's not a lot of variety, but I like that...I'm not a great guitarist, so I don't use a lot of different settings, even with other guitars...I usually just find a sound I like and go with it...so this works out just fine for me personally.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I got this guitar from a guy who had put it in it's case and left it in the closet for 10 years. When I opened the case and tuned it up, it still played perfectly. Excellent feeling neck. Friends of mine have played it and all love the feel. Heritage is known for their fine workmanship and this guitar, even though a lower model, exemplifies that attention to detail. Great guitar! The hardware is all excellent as well. I love the bridge...a Heritage design. Feels sturdy and solid and works perfectly. Sort of reminds me of a G & L for some reason.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Reliability...well, just read my story above about it being in the closet for 10 years and still sounding great. I did replace the volume pot when I got it, which was probably more about neglect than just regular failure. I also replaced the volume knob and used a gold Gibson knob rather than the more Fender amp-style knob that was on there originally, which just looked like an odd match to me. Very dependable guitar and I would not hesitate to use it without a backup, though I wouldn't do that anyway.

Customer Support : 10
It was made about 25 years ago and when I wrote to the company to find out about it, since there isn't hardly any info on the web about this model, I was pleasantly surprised to get an almost immediate response...and not was it immediate, it was from the legendary Gibson/Heritage employee and guitar innovator Rendal Wall.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 25 years and have always been a Fender guy...mostly Telecasters. At the moment (though it's always changing) this is my only electric and it's a great one. If it were lost or stolen I would at least consider getting another one...the problem would be finding one...they are super rare. If you can find one...get it.

1985 Heritage LP Jr copy. It has one bridge pickup and one volume knob. Rosewood fretboard on a nicely constructed 3 piece neck.

The finish was originally white but somebody stripped the paint and now it is a natural mahogany with no finish. I slapped a coat of lemon Oil after my last string change.

It has a Seymour Duncan JB model and a coil splitter on the volume knob that can go from strat to LesPaul at the pull of the knob.

It does not have the original bridge and I had to replace the Pickup mounting ring when I got it.

Sound : 10
Total beast of a sound out of this guitar. Like I said it can go from strat to Les Paul. I use a cranked amp(Acoustic 124, Peavey Bandit65, or 64 Gibson Falcon ga-rtv) and control the volume at my guitar.

This guitar can go from soft chording rhythms to scorching leads at the turn of the knob.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
Here is where I had issues. I have had this guitar for about a month and got it for an awesome deal($300) for a vintage American made guitar, so I thought.

The pickup mounting ring was flat(not original)and the closest the pickups would go to the strings was 1 inch. When I replaced the ring to a thick heavy duty chrome one, I found one of the adjustment screws was bent. Problem was solved when I replaced the ring.

I noticed there was a considerable gap in the neck pocket and the neck would shift. When I took off the neck I found out the screw holes in the neck were stripped. I had to stick matchsticks and glue into the holes and when it dried, I sanded flush, drilled with a tiny bit and replaced the neck. It worked. (Thank God)

I bought it off the internet sight unseen. The guy who sold it to me never mentioned these problems. He said there was no problems with intonation or tuning and said there was no problems with the guitar. Good thing he did not sell it to some unsuspecting kid who thought he was buying a guitar with no problems.

When I presented these issues to him he became very defensive and said he picked up the guitar on a trade and only played it a couple of times. Even a monkey would know there was serious problems with this guitar even picking it up a couple of times.

I will never buy a guitar again sight unseen. Thank GOD for GUITAR CENTER.

Reliability/Durability : 8
In theory this guitar is a great solid design. This guitar was mistreated by a previous owner who stripped the screw holes and mishandled the guitar. This guitar would have been better if it was left White.

Right now it is solid, stays in tune and has spot on intonation.

Customer Support : 10
Call the company and you will not talk to a receptionist but a guitar builder. Equally as helpful via email. These guys let me know only 200 H-120's were made.

Overall Rating : 9
I will never again buy a guitar sight unseen but after some courage, 3 hours of labor and $20 in parts, this guitar is better than new. For gigs I have been letting the H-535 get some rest and the H-120 is my backup after my strat.

Please contact me if you own an H-120 so we can discuss this great little guitar.

Beatifully simple ebony solid body electric,1 black plastic covered single coil pick up and one silver volume knob, rosewood fingerboard on a bolt on a maple neck with a 24 3/4" scale, 22 frets, tune-o-matic bridge, Grover tuners. Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan 1986.

I play all kinds of different styles and with various effects units and in terms of sound this guitar sits somewhere in the middle ground - it's not too inspirational soundwise but what do you expect with just one single coil pick-up? You can get some good sounds out of it by your playing technique however, and I think it suits bluesy rock pretty well.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is my favourite guitar I've ever played on - probably partly because I did the majority of my exploration of music using this trusty friend. The action is unbeatable, quick and effortless without sacrificing its soul, I bought it second hand, and have had it for about 10 years and it is still in great condition despite being repeatedly mistreated in my younger days. Heritage are the best I've come across, both for materials and for build.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar would survive a nuclear holocaust and still be a peach.
You could probably use it to paddle across the Atlantic and still play tennis with it on arrival. It is hard as nails.

Just contact Ren at the Heritage website - he replied immediately to my 2 e-mails with sound and no frills information about dating, original price and technical matters - top geezer

I have been playing for 12 years. I also have owned or curently have, a Hohner Les Paul copy, An Aria ProII C-350, various knackered acoustics/classicals, and a Westfield bass. i also have quite a bit of digital recording equipment and several effects units.
I have been burgled twice and no one stole the guitar thankfully as I would have ben gutted - it is far and away my most sentimental guitar, but that aside I love its playability, its reassuring heaviness, its beautifully simple styling - basically it's black with silver metal features and a maple neck, even the pickup is black.

I also love the fact that I have never seen another one ever in my life and I heard there were only 200 or so made. Any other owners are most welcome to contact me or send any info they have about this model or any other guitars they love as I think an easy-going no nutcases fan club should be started. This is a great guitar and I will never sell mine.

Solid body electric,1 single coil pick up with one volume knob,Rosewood fingerboard on a bolt on a maple neck with a 24 3/4" scale,Tune a matic bridge with stop tail piece,Grover tuners,Brown Heritage hard shell case,Made in USA 1986

The lone single coil pick up gives a nice quality distortion sound but is noisy and limited. It has a decent blues sound on a clean setting. I use a Fender Princeton 65 and a Laney GC 30 for amplification and occasionally plug in my Boss pedal board consisting of: Mt-2,OC-2,CH-2,DDE-2,CS-1.As I said the sound is limited, but it makes a nice specialty guitar for certain situations. It has a good sound for what it is.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
I bought it used, so I had my Luthier set it up. It plays great, the neck has a nice feel and is very comfortable to play. The quality is excellent as you would expect from Heritage. It has aged well and looks great. It is a nice addition to my guitar collection.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar was made in 1986 and has weathered well The finish has yellowed a little bit due to the aging process. It is solid and I don't see anything changing. The neck is straight as an arrow and plays like a dream.

Customer Support : 10
I could not find any information on this model as I found out that only a couple hundred of these were made. I e mailed Heritage guitars from their web site and surprisingly Ren from Heritage contacted me the next day. He gave me information and advice about the value of this guitar. Within a month he scanned on old brochure he dug up and e mailed it to me. What more could you ask for?

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for over 26 years and have owned many Les Pauls, vintage '60's Telecasters,Stratocasters and assorted off brands and I have to say the playability of this H-120 rates up there with the best of them.I would be very upset if this was stolen and I would attempt to find another one although they're not too many were made.I love the shape, feel and weight of this guitar. It looks like a Les Paul Junior only cooler with it's unique headstock. The only draw back is it's limited sound with one single coil pick up and one volume knob.Overall this H-120 is a limited edition, well aged and durable vintage solid body electric guitar. I feel it has some collectability and is a great addition to one's guitar collection. If it had two pick ups with two volume and two tone knobs, this would be my main guitar. This is one FUN axe.
