I play rock and blues. Have played this through a Swart AST Mk II and a "D style" clone amp. Hard to describe the sound others than ballsy and cutting. Fills the gap wonderfully between a HB pickup and a gritty Fender single coil. More attack an thicker than single coils generally sound and much gritter than a humbucking equipped guitar. Sound is where this instrument shines.

This is a big feeling guitar. Does not feel frilly at all. Heavey. Big fat neck. Solid as a rock. If you like the feel and look of old Nocasters, you'd like this. If you want something that feels "feminine", look elsewhere. Craftsmanship is top notch.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I see no reason why this guitar wouldn't hold up well. It's simple and there's not much to break.

This is the second H137 I've owned. Sold the first after being unable to bond with the neck. I then fell in love with a fat-necked Telecaster. No comfy with big necks, I looked for an opportunity to get one of these again. Glad I did. It will get as much play as anything I own.

24 3/4 scale. Mahogany neck and flat top body. Rosewood finguerboard. Two lollar P-90 pickups. Two tones and volumes. TV yellow nitro lacquer. It is a light guitar. Its weight is lower than a les Paul by far.

Sound : 10
I play it through a cornford carrera 8 watts, koch studiotone 20 W and a Marsh champ version 5 W. This guitar is a blues monster. Wonderful neck pickup. Truly amazing. Powerful, complex and rich clean tones. Warm, full and mellow overdriven tones. Perfect for blues and classic rock. Metal is not its terrain.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar arrived in perfect condition from Realguitars, german dealer of heritage. Low action. Fast neck. Easy bending.
Perfect finish. No flaws at all. It is a cool guitar. It has some vintage mojo IMHO.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Still don??t know. The guitar is new. I think it is sturdy. We will see.

Customer Support : 10
I have never dealed with heritage. Realguitars is a professional and friendly guitarshop. 10 for the dealer.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for five years. Classic rock and blues. I have a Suhr strat, a couple of custom strats, a mexican tele and a heritage 150. I love how it sounds, rich, clear and powerful. I also love its playability. This guitar is a bargain.
I will buy it inmediately if stolen. Maybe I would ask Heritage for the same guitad painted in tobacco sunburst directly over the mahogany and with an ebony finguerboard...

Single cutaway mahogany body with a mahogany neck, single Lollar P90, TV yellow finish, Junior-style pickguard, wraparound bridge/tailpiece with adjustable saddles for each string, Grover tuners. Came in a tweed hardshell case.
Made in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2006.
Got this guitar from Jay Wolfe at Wolfe Guitars, Jupiter, Florida.

Sound : 10
I play a very wide variety of music- surf, rockabilly, western swing, country, blues, jazz. I am also a working musician and have played many a pop and rock standard. I also play experimental stuff and am into the Meat Puppets and Eugene Chadbourne.
I used this Heritage H137 with an Ampeg VT-40 4x10 tube combo and a 1971 Fender Deluxe Reverb. I have also used it with a Fender Pro Junior. I rarely use effects.
Very versatile guitar. Got that P90 snarl for Mountain covers but pretty much covers the gamut of vintage tones. I'd use it for pretty much anything even though it only has one pickup. On this guitar you only need one.
I can't think of one thing that I don't like about this guitar. Class all the way.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
Fairly low but not too low action. Set up very well. No flaws whatsoever. I did not have to do anything at all to this guitar when I got it. It was good to go straight out of the box.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is solid. I have gigged with it and have had no problems at all. This is a quality guitar from one end to the other. In fact it is one of the nicest guitars I have ever put my hands on.
I always have a backup. But this guitar could get me through many nights without a spare.

Customer Support : 10
Jay Wolfe at Wolfe Guitars answered my emails promptly and got the guitar to me very quickly. That's the kind of cat I like to do business with.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing 30 years. My other guitars are Heritage H575, Gretsch Country Classic, Fender 52 reissue Telecaster, Gibson Firebird V, Tokai Love Rock Les Paul Junior copy (Japan), Peavey T-60, Harmony Rebel, Brownsville Thug. I also have Airline, National, and Fender lap steels. My amplifiers are Fender Deluxe Reverb, Ampeg VT-40, Fender Pro Junior, Marshall JTM30, Marshall JMP 50 watt nonmaster head, Peavey VTM60.
This guitar meets all my requirements- plays well, sounds good, looks cool.
If it were stolen I would get another one just like it. If I couldn't find one I'd get Heritage to make me one.
Both my Heritage guitars are very nice in all respects. I realize that I have rated this guitar a 10 in all categories. But this is one guitar that really is that good. It's the real deal.

Made in 2006 in Kalamazoo.

The other reviews tell all the construction details.
It does the job it was made to do perfectly.....blues & rock stuff.
One of the best features is the thick neck....helpos with the sustain and tone for days.

Sound : 10
It's perfect for blues and rock, which is what I bought it for. It absolutely SINGS, especially on the neck pickup.
I use it with a Dr Z Carmen Ghia

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The setup was done with the PLEK machine....doesn't get any better.
It came with 10s and I changed to 11s because i like the guitar to fight back a little. For me, it made the guitar come alive. About 1/16th turn on the truss rod brought everything back in perfect alignment, which is important because there is no height adjustment (other than the individual string polepieces) on the pickups.
The clearance at the bridge pickup is close.
Not a flaw on it anywhere.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's a tank....not much to break. The finish is nitro and is thin but perfectly applied. I changed to straplock out of habit. I usually gig with more than one guitar for stylistic reasons, but I can pull off most things with this, even a very acceptable jazz tone with the neck pickup tone rolled back some.

Customer Support : 10
I have visited the factory twice. The people couldn't be more helpful. The dealer was Wolfe Guitars in Florida, the easiest to work with I've ever experienced, and you can't beat their prices on instruments that are already a huge bargain. (see remarks below)

Overall Rating : 10
50 years!!!. Let me say this....these guys are the real deal. There's only about 20 people working there and the owners spend considerable time actually making guitars. They offer a goldtop finish that's done by the guy that made goldtops in 1957! I have a Sweet 16 archtop and a Prospect on order that they have modified to my desires. Heritages will be the future collectables...but the best thing is they're great to play on, sound fabulous and are by far the best bang for the buck in the industry. You can be crazy and spend a ton of money for something else that once came from Kalamazoo, or you can get a guitar made by the guys that made the originals. You can't get a better guitar for the money, especially American made.

US Built in late 2005 or early 2006 Kalamazoo,
Single-cut Honduran Mahogany, thin nitro finish in TV yellow, 3 way selector, 2 volume 2 tone selector. 24.75 inch scale ( gibson length)-medium jumbo frets on nice rosewood fret board. Schaller mechanics arm is user friendly, not big not small..

Loaded with Jason Lollar P90 ;--) bridge is warparound pigtail, nut is micaria ( or micara)

Special series designed by wolfeguitars & Heritage with choice parts ( lollar schaller, hond.mahogany, etc...) & gorgeous tweed case

Sound : 9
Rock & blues sound fantastic with the Lollar P90; they sound darker, stronger and warmer than Gibson P90. Bridge is crunchy & punchy-intermediate is quite velvety with lots of presence and neck is warm & precise. Think T-Bone Walker.
I use it on a Matamp Series 2000 & Matamp 1224; great combination especially with the stricly 60ies Series 2000 great clean with an edge of overdrive. Pushed in EL 34 crunch & OD the guitar screams & pushes like P90 do..NO Hb acidity just a strong wall of sound with a dark tone. nice

Acoustically the guitar is really loud...Louder than my Gibson Cloud 9 with HB ( a hollow les Paul) and the neck is very, very, well set in the body; it vibrates with every chord! great ;-))

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
set-up was so& so ( they nerver are really good anyway) but that's okay.

Fret-job is relatively poor: frets are good up to fret 16 furter up the neck they are completely flattenend on one side ( High E -B-G). i am not really using those but still it is very sloppy. some sanding marks on fret-board, grrr and the body is not fantastically sanded.. (but okay the gutar costed 1.485 US with case) . I would like to emphasize that it is still better finished than my Gibson Custom shop guitar..( wich is not very well finished at all).

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I think that 'll be okay!

This is the "first" one in lefty & the 1'st one finished in faded cherry.
The neck and body are mahogany with a beautiful straight grained rosewood fretboard.
The PU's are P-90

Sound : 10
This little guitar has real Tone. The combination of the wood, bridge and PUs just seems to work so well. The sustain is fantastic, which means you can play with less overdrive which gives a much better guitar tone in my opinion.
I play it through a Carvin Legacy and Digitech board.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was setup well by Wolfe guitars. I had to do minor adjustment due to the climate change but after that it played and sounded awesome. The nytro finish is really very very good - you dont see finishes like this too often.

Reliability/Durability : 10
No issues at all - looking at the way that it's built i doubt it could ever fail.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No issues yet, so i can't comment on this one.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a fantastic little guitar for a reasonable price.
I owned and played guitars by Fender, Gibson, PRS, Carvin, Anderson, MusicMan, Steinberger..
For me personally, it's one of the best guitars i played. And i mean that soundwise and playability - both are top.
I love it and it's here to stay!

Purchased new Febuary 2006

Honduran Mahogony neck and body

Nitro finish

Lollar P-90's

Pigtail fully adjustable wraparound bridge

Grover tuners

2 volumes 2 tones 3 way switch

Exactly the features you'd expect to find on this type of guitar. The adjustable bridge is a nice touch.

Sound : 10
This guitar nails the P-90 experience. Huge sound yet single coil. The neck pickup is big and fat sounding. Nice and rich and full. The bridge pickup has a nice level of brightness without being thin. No harshness at all. When clean the guitar get this really nice low growl that becomes more present as you bring up the volume. This is why you want this guitar. When you add gain the guitar just soars. It handles dirt extremely well retaining a very nice level of clarity thru distortion. Great note separation. No mud! BTW the tone controls on this guitar work. You roll it back a little and you have useable tone not just dullness. Also worth noting. I use 9 - 42 strings and the guitar still sounds fat. You dont need 10's unless you like them. This is important to me. I like lighter strings because they are so bendable.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Quality thru and thru.

The nitro finish on this guitar looks correct. Mines cherry BTW. It looks just like you'd expect a mint vintage Special to look. It has NO! typical finish flaws you commonly see on other guitars. The neck looks neat and clean around its joint. The wood has a classic tight grained mahogony appearance. There is an odd bit of a grain line that runs up the back of the neck. It looks OK. Thats wood for you. All other parts are fitted perfectly and work properly. The action out of the box was good. It was comfortable with no buzz. I took a little relief out of the neck and lowered the bass side of the bridge slightly. The action measures a little less than 3/32nds on the bass side and 2/32nds on the treble side. After my adjustment which is a personal tweak theres still no real buzzing to speak of. Maybe just a very slight amount on the low E but nothing substantial and absolute zero through the amp. I fly on this thing. The neck is similar to what Gibson use to call a '59 neck. Its very comfortable. Its not a tree trunk yet it fills your hand. I understand you can get a slightly thinner neck on this model but dont fear the thick one. Its nice and friendly. I've made no adjustment to the pickups. They are well balanced. The fret work is nice . Nothing sharp against my hand. No high buzzy frets at all. When I changed the strings on it I could'nt fit my finger tips between the bottom edge of the bridge pickup and the bridge. So I had to use a needlenosed plyiers to pull the string out. No biggie! Very nice in a world where so many other guitars have embarassing shameful flaws. This guitar is literaly as nice or better quality than many guitars I've seen for twice the price.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar seems to be as solid and sturdy as a guitar can be. I have an H 535 that I've owned for a couple of years. Never a problem. Not one! From all I can see I expect the same from the 137 so I'll give it high marks based on my other experince with Heritage.

Customer Support : 10
As mentioned before I've had no problem with my 535 so I have had no need to deal with Heritage in this regard.

I will say that I spoke to Gram at Wolfe's a few times in making this purchase. The guy was great! He had excellent product knowledge. He was always pleasent, cheerful and more than happy to talk to me.Even when I caught him having lunch. He ended his lunch and took my call. His out of hand description of the guitar regarding apperance, feel and sound was dead on. I told him I wanted the fattest sounding 137 he had and he came through. Gram also had a great interest in my having the best possible experince dealing with Wolfe's. This guy should be cloned and used as an example to show what a guitar salesman should be like. I'm thinking that if I did have a problem Gram and Wolfe's would take care of me.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing guitar for 39 years. I own many guitars. Fender , Gibson ,PRS,G&L,Gretsch,Rickenbacker,Carvin. I play Rock , Hard Rock, Classic Rock ,Blues , Jazz , a bit of Metal when I want to blow the stink off. For most of what I play the 137 is perfect. I love the semi - clean growl and snarl this guitar gets. I've tried other P-90 guitars ,even the expensive ones and this guitar rocks. If something happened to it I'd get the same guitar all over again. If it were stolen I would'nt use that as an excuse to try something else. I'd want another 137.

This new 137 has the tone and the mojo of a 50 year old guitar in a new body. Honduras mahogony body,Jason Lollar P-90 pups, and rose wood fingerboard. This guitar is not for the computer minded "players" that are using synthetic guitars to simulate the real thing. This guitar is the real deal.

Sound : 10
This heritage has been used in a classic rock and roll band, has seen a little country music and also visited the soft jazz venue. No effects have been used, imagine that, and the main amplifier is a Steven Carr 2-10 Rambler,28 watts

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Fit and finish is pro quality from Heritage. Jay and Graham at Wolfe Guitars in Florida handled the action chores perfectly

Reliability/Durability : 10
The durability and reliability is no issue with this guitar. This is a Heritage and those folks set the bar higher than most companies out there.

Customer Support : 10
I have not dealt with the company yet about this guitar. I have called them about another issue and the phone was answered by an actual person. The real customer support comes from Jay Wolfe and his guitar tech Graham at Wolfe Guitars in Florida. These pros come highly recommended. I also called Jason Lollar and spoke to him about these great P-90's that are loaded on this Heritage. This 137 guitar is a piece of new history.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since about the time dirt was invented. I really do know a little about tone. If this was stolen I would replace it with no changes. Do yourself a favor and call Graham at Wolfe Guitars and acquire a piece of history.

This little gem was made in 1989. Made in Kalamazoo. It has the shape of a Les Paul, and the flat top of a Les Paul Special (or is it the junior, i get confused) and is what I call TV yellow, and somwhat transluscent, and officially is called "lime."

It has the standard two volume and tone controls and pickup selector. I don't know a lot of tech details, like the eact name of the solid tailpiece, but the hardware seems solid and good quality

It has the grover tuners and it has two humbuckers, with no covers. I don't know the brand. The neck seems like the typical Heritage thickness, and right a the moment it needs a little adjustment.

I love this guitar. It has some road wear from usage, but I think these scars add to character, and wouldn't change them. I wouldn't want any more features.

Sound : 8
I am a lousy player, but love to play, and it totally fits my (lack of) style of playing. I play it through a couple different amps. No pedals in between. I would like clearer PUs, but these are good, and fun to play.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
No idea about the original set up, but when I got it, it had been sitting. The electronics are solid and static free, no broken or even wobbly parts. Rock solid.

I covered the condition and finish above.

Reliability/Durability : 10
The guitar is really nice to play, sitting or standing with a strap. Light, balanced...what more can you ask.

Again, the hardware seems solid. In the very unlikely event I were to play a gig, yeah, I'd go with no backup. In fact, I think this would be perfect. Since I have only owned it awhile, I can't swear to its durability, but its lasted since '89. Seems good to me, and I am going to score it high.

Customer Support : No Opinion
1. Their website is neanderthal and the pictures of product and finshes pretty damn poor.
2. They seem to be well liked by most customers.

I'll stand aside on this one.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing badly, way too long. I have a U.S. Strat, and a couple Martin's. My main amp is a '64 Twin Reverb which never leaves the house.

If it were lost or stolen I'd be upset, but not crushed. I love the character, the feel in my hands and the humbucker sound.

I do wonder what a great set of humbuckers would do for it. (anyone care to tell what version humbucker that might be) and kinda wish it had P90s.
