The Guitar was handmade in the USA Kalamzoo (the old gibson factory where the best ones were made. Mine has had several upgrades, so this guitar isn't representive to other Ultra's.
It has:
-AAAAA(5A) top in beautifull vintage sunburst finish
-HRW pickups
-Aluminium Tailpiece
-Brass sadles
-Grover imperial tuners

That's about the specialest

Sound : 10
It has very versatile pickups, they can do blues but also metal (if you have a good amp that is) I use a GuitarPort at the moment and it sounds great, only the transistor distortion of the guitarport is kinda noisy. It works AWESOME with clean and distortion and also GREAT with effects!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The Set-up was great from factory except for minor string buzz, but you don't hear that amplified.
The action is just lovely.
The top looks awesome.

Now the minors:
The guitar does have flaws... but only minor ones.
Like the cream binding isn't as even everywhere... But that's about it, the rest is great, it could be that it's only on this example cuzz we got this one at a below normall price!

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar is very giggable, and the hardware will definatly last.
The finish is Polyutherane and is known for its beauty and hardness so it will definatly last as long as a Gibson.
The straps seem very good.
It's a very reliable guitar it's lovely.
I'd gig without a backup yeah, but i would take some extra strings :P in case they snap r something.

I'm not playing for so long but i know what sounds good n stuff.
I would buy another again if i lost it, and if i had another.
I love the entire guitar except for the cosmetical flaws.
If you want a great value for money les paul or just a better les paul than a gibson buy a The Heritage H150CM Ultra or upgrade a normal one at the factory! Cuzz this thing kicks gibson ass!

New 2003 Heritage 150CM Ultra. Awesome flamed maple top with Burnt Amber transparent finish. Les Paul style guitar, one piece mahogany neck and back. flamed maple top. Rosewood fretboard. Premium HRW (Heritage Rendal Wall) pickups. Schaller roller style Tune-o-matic and tail piece. Grover imperial tuners. Cream pickguard (I am ordering body colored pickguard with cream binding). Mother of Pearl Trapezoid inlays. Cream bindings on body and neck. Made in old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Bought from Kent Perkins (http://www.cbperkins.com). Price came with case, excellent after-sales service, including free initial setup and a set of pyramid handmade strings. They also offer free setup inspections and minor setup adjustments for 1 year.

Guitar is quiet. The sound.. oh the sound. On overdrive, lead notes make the hair on my back stand. It is just that good. Clean, the guitar shines. Warm but yet clear and defined notes. Sustain is very good. Notes sound balanced across the fretboard. Chords ring. This guitar do not display the usually muddiness on a 22-fret guitar at the bridge pickup. I tried Gibson Les Paul Standard, Epi Les pauls prior to the Heritage. There is no comparison. I also tried a 150CM standard with schaller pickups. Get the HRW. It is so much better. The heritage can be had with Duncans 59s. but my ESP sports Duncans (59 and JB) and I am looking for less overlap in sound. My luthier/retailer offered custom pickups with free labor if I pick up the Classic or standard. But after repeated tests, HRW won me over. I read that HRWs retails for around $170 EACH. and they are worth it.

The finish on this guitar is amazing. The wood grain is beautiful and the finish very well done. I inspected the guitar thoroughly and found no flaws. The worksmanship is very fine. No signs of shoddy work like the Epis and Gibsons. Everything is done to perfection. The guitar is setup pretty well. On top of that, My retailer offer free setup for every guitar sold and they do a good job (are excellent luthiers). They ask me to play the guitar for a week and set up an appointment to bring it back for a complete setup to my specs and a set of free pyramid strings.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is a tough guitar. Everything looks solid and will withstand a lot. The finish is nitro cellulose. It will fade with time to have a vintage look. However, I doubt I would gig this guitar for now. It is simply too precious to me at this point.

I called Heritage prior to buying the guitar. The person there was very polite and spent time talking to me about the guitar even though the staff was very busy that day. He encouraged me to call in the next day and he will walk me through their line of 150s with all the possible customizations and their differences. I did not call in again as I bought the guitar the next day. When you call Heritage, you always get luthiers or owners. Heritage gets 10 points.

My retailer CB Perkins (http://www.cbperkins.com) are extremely helpful as well. I dealt with Kent Perkins and he was patient with me. I tested 5 Heritages from standard 150 to used H-555. He was attentive and knows guitars well (he is a luthier himself). We discussed my needs and what sound I am looking for and the stuff I already have. This is the one best guitar buying experience I ever had. The guitar comes with a free total setup and free strings in a week. They also offer free setup inspections for 1 year. CB Perkins gets 10 points.

I always wanted a Les Paul. I was hesitant on an Epi and Gibsons were out of reach for a while. My teacher, who owns a 59 Les Paul and a Heritage Ultra as a backup, recommended Heritage. The price is lower but the quality is so much better. And the sound.. oh man the sound. Less bang for the buck and better quality and sound. And did i mention Heritages were built by master craftsmen from Gibson in the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI? Read their story at the heritage website. This is the real deal folks, if you are looking for a Les Paul the way they used to make 'em.

Brand new Heritage H-150CM Ultra, in transparent Burnt Amber. Basically the same configuration as a Les Paul, single cutaway, mahogany neck and body with a flamed-out maple top. Two Premium Heritage HRW humbuckers, three way switch, Grover Imperial tuning machines, and gold hardware. Real Mother of Pearl crown inlays, with binding on the top and the neck. Guitar also has the classic Nitrocellulose laquer finish. The guitar has a Schaller roller bridge, and a Schaller stop tail piece. Neck in my opinion is more on the hefty side, I prefer the large 50's style Gibson neck and this one reminds me of the 50's neck that was on my Les Paul Standard. Not too large, just right. These guitars are priced without the case, so I had to purchase the case at extra cost, but it was worth it. Because of the gold hardware, premium pickups, and stunning flame top, Im giving it a 9 in the features department. It would get a 10, but the company logo on the headstock is silkscreened on. The guitar is so nice, the logo, in my opinion, should be inlayed into the headstock like a Gibson. Overall, this does not diminish the look of the guitar, its just a personal preference.

Sound : 10
Ok, heres the scoop. I used to own Les Pauls, so I am somewhat familiar with the "Gibson" sound, and know what a nice Gibson should sound like. This guitar in the tone department is SUPERB. The premium HRW pickups are amazing. What makes them so amazing, in my opinion, is the clarity. The guitar still gives me the Les Paul bottom end and sustain, but has excellent note definition and does not get muddy. The sound is full and I have no problem distinguishing notes when playing open chords and lines. I use a Proco Turbo Rat and a Jekyll and Hyde pedal through any one of three amps(Fender Hot Rod Deville 212, Fender Silverface Deluxe Reverb, Fender Blues Jr.) and the guitar sounds awesome through everything. Leads stand out and cut with authority, power chords crunch and sustain nicely, and open chords ring out with clarity and sustain. The clean tones are what really surprised me. My Les Pauls were ok in this area, but not great. The HRWs sound awesome clean. The sound is full and somewhat dark (like any humbucker), but is NOT muddy. Clean sounds are MUCH more clear and useable than the clean sounds on my Gibsons. I dont play clean that often, but when I do I play through a Small Clone chorus with some delay, and I am very pleased with the clarity and results. Because the guitar is a Les Paul style instrument, I do find it more useable for rock/classic rock than anything else. However, because of the quality of the clean tones I find myself playing clean more often than I used to. Guitar is much more versatile than expected, and the first guitar that I have owned that I have been totally pleased with tone-wise. I have been playing for 8 years now, and play styles ranging from U2 to Gary Moore and Led Zeppelin. Guitar covers these styles with no problem. I have no issues at all with the tone of this guitar. Much better than any Gibson Ive played or owned. Im giving it a 10 here.

Purchased from EM Shorts Guitars, so they set up the guitar to my specs before shipping. Setup is perfect. One of the reasons I purchased a Heritage instead of a Gibson is because of the details, the fit and finish. Heritage guitars are almost entirely hand-made. The neck joint, the binding, the flame maple top, and the finish are superb. All of the seams are nice and crisp, with no glue showing or imperfections in the finish. All of my Les Pauls were a little sloppy where the neck joins the body, and the finish was rough compared to the Heritage. Fretwork is excellent, and the Mother of Pearl crown inlays look fabulous. I would give the guitar a 10 here, but I think that the nut could have been better. My strings have been getting pinched in the nut. I had to work with it a bit, but now its ok. Other than the minor issues with the nut, the fit and finish of the guitar is fabulous, so Ill give it a 9.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Guitar is solid, and HEAVY. I am VERY meticulous with the care of my guitars, so Im not worried about it falling apart.

Have not had to deal with them, but have heard good things about them.

Been playing for 8 years. Have owned many Fender guitars and have also owned Les Pauls. I currently have a Gretsch Chet Atkins Tennessean, which was handed down to me from my grandfather, and I just ordered a Heritage H-150CM Classic. I was set on purchasing a Les Paul Standard and a Les Paul Custom, but after being introduced to Heritage I quickly changed my mind. I love playing my Heritage, and it inspires me to be creative. Dont be fooled by the Gibson name on the headstock, Heritage guitars are made in the original factory by some of Gibsons former employees. They are the real deal. My favorite feature is simply the value. I know that I got more guitar for my money by purchasing a Heritage. Gibsons are good guitars, I just wanted the best that my money could buy, so I purchased a Heritage. I also looked at Hamers, which are fabulous instruments, but in the end I found Heritage to be the best value. I cant wait to get my H-150 Classic!!

Heritage H-150CM Ultra. Vintage sunburst, AAAA maple top, zebra coil Duncan 59's, Gibson style tailpiece, bridge.
Roseweood fingerboard with nice mother of pearl inlays.
Similar in style to a Les Paul except the lower bout is 13"
This guitar is lightweight at 8.6lbs. Although many of these guitars weigh much more.

Sound : 10

The guitar sounds full and rich on neck pickup, with useable tones from all pickup combinations.
This guitar has a little more clarity in the bass and midrange than a Gibson Les Paul, and overall is slightly brighter. The pickups are Duncan 59's which are very vintage sounding humbuckers.
The sound, like the guitar's style are essentially a modern Les Paul.

It doesn't sound "better" than my Les Paul 58 RI. It's a nice addition to my guitar stable because it has a little clearer brighter tone. The Gibson is softer and sweeter. Both beautiful.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 5

No construction flaws, and the binding, stain, nitro finish are all beautifully done. Inlays and electronics are well done.
The setup is awful, like EVERY other Heritage guitar I have played/owned. They just can not execute that last 5% of effort needed to complete the guitar. The frets are uneven, the nut slots are cut badly. This guitar is off for a fret leveling and new bone nut.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This is a well built guitar and will last a long time.
You definitely gig with Heritage guitars, that is where they are most useful! Bad fret work and nut slots take point off here because the guitar needs workk before I can gig with it.

Customer Support : 10

They are nice people and always answer the phone in a personable, helpful manner.

Overall Rating : 8

I have this guitar because I love Les Pauls and Duncan pickups. It sounds great and will play great after some fret work needed. This is a great blues guitar and not bad for jazz if needed.
Heritage is always bad on the setups, which they seem to simply not care about. Fair enough, but that means these guitars always cost me a few hundred dollars more than the puchase price.
Still a great guitar and worth money.
It's sounds really nice, is lightweight, and costs about as much as a Gibson USA model Les Paul.
I still like my Gibson Historic Les Pauls more, but there is a place for this guitar. The extra clarity and extra brightness (slight) are nice for live playing.

2001 Model, HRW Pickups, Gold Plated Hardware, Grover Tuners, Ultra Curly Maple Top in Burnt Amber. Neck is close to a L.P. Standard in size. Pretty much all that you'd expect on a nice Les Paul type guitar. Nitrocellulose finish is outstanding, not too thin, not too thick.

Sound : 9
HRW Humbuckers seem to have a wide range of sound. I play pretty traditional rock and these work very well. I don't know if this particular guitar/humbucker setup would do for deathmetal, but for just about anything else it will be fine.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Just about perfect in fit & finish. Compares very favorably to my Les Paul Standard Plus, just a touch better quality overall with the Heritage. I don't think you'll do better without paying significantly more.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Totally solid guitar, I anticipate no problems with it. The quality is just outstanding.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them, but I'd rather deal with a small shop than a mega-corporation.

Overall Rating : 10
I'd definitely buy it again if it were stoled. Matter of fact this is my second Heritage and I've got a third on order.
