Classical guitar. Made in 1992 in Germany. Has a solid cedar top. Back and sides are made of indian rosewood. Neck is made of mahogany, fingerboard of indian rosewood. Tuners are gold with bernstein. High gloss (antiquegold) finish. Nothing else included.
Sound

Voluminous sound. No fuzz. Deep basses, bright highs.
Nothing for a world-class-player, but for every avarage or advanced player the sound is absolutely good.

I could play right out of the box. No flaws.
Hofner has a huge spare part catalogue. So you can choose between different bridges etc. The width of the saddle is 50mm. Sometimes the tuners are cracking a bit, but nothing to talk about.

This guitar now is 11 years in my hands. Looks like the first day I bought it, if I had'nt been so stupid (falling down twice and trying to change the bridge without the right tools)
I could depend on it every time. Fine.

Mmm, this is a different point.
As written above, Hofner has a huge spare part catalogue, so you can
modify your guitar as you like. The sending of catalogue is very fast. But I contacted them twice, for getting a full test-report (as stated in the catalogue), but didn't get any answer.
The compay was sold recently, maybe things have changed now.
2 years warranty.

In 1992 this was my first real guitar. I also own a Yamaha Steel String and a Rickenbacker 330 (copy) I am very satisfied with my Hofner. If it were stolen/lost, I would buy the same modell or a handcrafted Hofner. I compared it with some other guitars (Aria, Yamaha...). Yamaha had a good sound and was easier to play, Aria was cheaper, but manufactured really bad. Hofner had the best sound and looked best, so I choosed the HZ 27. And it's worth min. EURO 500.
