Average features like most standard Hohner countryman except mine has the satin finish.

Sound : 7
I purchased the Hohner Countryman 300 guitar on E-bay from an online music store NEW for $35.00 plus destination charges. The guitar came with factory strings and were real high on the fretboard. I had a buddy twang all of the heavy gauge strings off and put on a medium gauge MARTIN strings. After the truss adjustment, I tuned it up and the guitar played pretty decent. When I first tuned the guitar out of the box it played pretty bad. I had problems tuning and the cheap barb wire strings it came with tore open every dog gone callous on my poor fingers. Once you buy decent struings and adjust the truss, the guitar plays and performs very nicely. I would only consider playing this guitar live if i had the confidence in my playing. Oh yeah, the guitar is is solid and very, very, heavy. you definately need to strap this bugger to your body. Sitting can be very tiresome without the strap.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
Over all the guitar looks real nice. I got the glossy brown finish. Guitar set up from factory is like a bunch of ex car salesman were hired to build a factory. Very poor to put it nicely. I was somewhat impressed with the nice tuning pegs though. They feel solid and they hold a tune for awhile. Good as expected quality from a Hohner brand.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar is solid. It is heavy and looks like it can take a beating. I would never suggest anyone to beat up their guitar for amy reason. Just saying this guitar will last a long time if you take care of it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got it off e-bay. The music store only guaranteed the preship condition.

Overall Rating : 8
I have played many different types of accoustic guitars and this hohner guitar played and sounded better than most. I would not recommend this guitar to a beginner, especially a child. It is big, heavy and very cumbersome. This guitar is perfect for teenager, young adults, and older people as well. I would take this guitar to practice and would definately show off my playing skills at parties or certain engagements. This guitar boasts confidence and skill. It kind of reminds me of bull riding, once you get on it, the guitar asks you, is that all you got. Play it like a pro, if you don't, it will break ya down.

Typical cheap tuners, etc. for a low-end guitar. Don't expect Grovers on this guitar.

Sound : 8
It actually sounds pretty good, contrary to what the folks below said. Granted, it's no high-end Takamine, but I had the Jasmine by Takimine right next to it to try it out when I was choosing the guitar, and this one is so much warmer and fuller sounding. Granted, I bought mine used so it's been broken in.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The action is superb on this guitar. Again, absolutely not buzzing issues on this guitar, but I bought it used. Even nicer guitars need a set-up when you buy them new, hence the buzzing problem some other folks are experiencing. My finish is a little chipped here and there from body knocking, but no fault of the guitar.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Just bought it, so not sure. It does seem like a pretty solid guitar, definitely not a $100 Johnson or a Chinese Fender, etc.

I had been to 5 stores all week trying to find a decent beginner guitar. This was the only one worth buying in the $100 range, and I tried EVERYTHING - Fender, Epiphone, Yamaha, Jasmine, etc. I figured I was getting a little hosed on the used price, but nobody carries these in town new. Hohner makes decent guitars, I used to own one of their German made classical guitars, and again, top notch solid guitar. I purchased this with a brand new, nice hardshell case. $150 all together.

Very basic acoustic box with a split back & cheap tuners.

Sound : 7
Bought the guitar off e-Bay and it appeared to be well cared for, however, the saddle was fractured on pretty much every string. Replacing the sadle dramatically improved the intonatation. A bit tinney on the high E but I have yet to replace the strings and they are very light guage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Finish is a bit rustic if you are used to a shiney, glossy guitar. Very understated and warm.
Action is very nice . Plays like a 3oo.oo dollar guitar. Reminiscent of a higher end Ibanez or Takamine.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Appears to be durable, we'll see. I keep this one by the couch...ready.

e-Bay? no support.

Overall Rating : 8
I have played for about 25 yrs. I have about 10 guitars but most are electric collectables. This was to be a kick around to practice with when I watch the TV, and for the kids to play...they need more accoustic influence. Suits that purpose very well, esp for the price. I would definitely replace this guitar if lost. It is going to get a new set of med Martin strings ASAP.

The Hohner countryman is foreign made, as it says inside the guitar, this could mean anywhere other than the country in which it was actually made...which we don't know. Anyway it is a 6-string acoustic dreadnought guitar with only 20 frets and a shiny, plastic coated, light coloured, wood material around the outside and a lighter version on top (laminated...heavily). It has a fake mahogany effect pick gaurd and an average acoustic bridge. It has a thin neck, this i like alot, with rosewood fingerboard. My guitar came with 2 free picks and a gig bag.

Sound : 4
I am only begining to play, hence the cheap price, and it satitsyfies me. It makes your average acoustic sound. However as you'll see below the frets cut away huge(ish) chunks of your strings so a rattle is produced. It sounds really bad when compared to my friends martin and alot of buzzing is produced.... everywhere on the fret board. Other than that sounds great!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The guitar looked fine at the time of purchase. But i soon realised that fret wires cut away pieces of the 3rd and 4th strings, producing a rattle. Then the tuning pegs (not all) became loose and the tune gradually sliped away but, with the help of an electric tuner, it sounds ok. The nut also is averagly cut, but then again i only payed #70.

Reliability/Durability : 7
This guitar isn't good enough for live playing, too bland. It also goes out of tune quick, but noe enough to stop a gig or a jam. You could easily depend on this ax for practicing, in fact for this i recommend it.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
This is my only guitar, and i have only been playing for 5months. I would'nt have bought this again if i had the chance, but for the money not a bad first axe. Its an average acoustic for a below average price. For begginers only!!!

The price was wonderful, Exactly what I had hoped for in a starter guitar. I would have to consider it a "Give away" once I move up to a higher skill level, and wanted a better quality guitar.

Sound : 5
Fret Buzz is a problem but only a minor one as Fully half the time I know it's the operator not the Machine. What can you expect for a hundred bucks.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The action was a bit higher than I had hoped for from a new "out of the box" guitar but it suited me needs for my skill level. Damn thing looked great untill I noticed the crack through the bridge. Aack!!!!!
Back to the store and picked out a new one. It too looked far better in all respects than a guitar this inexpensive had any right to.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Solid as a rock thus far. For 3 sets of strings anyway. I wouldn't be caught dead playing it in public though. It's Blue For heavens sake!
But upon further reveiw I wouldn't play publicly on anything yet. I can't blame the guitar for that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The onlt problem use discovered on day one. The cracked bridge. That was handled through the store where it was purchased.

Overall Rating : 6
I was looking for an inexspensive\starter guitar and that is exactly what I got. Don't come sniffing around the countryman (HW300) if you really want a Gibson or a Fender you will be disapointed and it won't be this guitars fault. You get what you pay for!!!!!!
As a first guitar this is a decent value. If you want a regular Gig axe Go buy a Martin. the math is pretty simple.

Don't know a lot about it, it's the basic Countryman with a satin finish. It's a normal dreadnought. The cheapest one I could find. It's the guitar I started out on. Non locking tooners. 20 frets. Over all a decent looking guitar.

The action was having some problems with a few frets buzzing really bad so I took it in to be worked on. The store said they couldn't fix it, so they sent it back to the factory (still under warenty) and gave me a new one. Same model.

Sound : 6
On some frets it's a good sound. I put on some Martin Rock strings and I liked it. However I did have some major untolarable string buzzing on both guitars. I had the first for 6 months before I took it back. I've had the new one for less than a day, and it's worse.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
The problem with the first one was that the wood underneat a couple of the frets started to bulge. Don't know why. Don't know why my new one's having problems, could be the same thing. Going to take it back today.

Reliability/Durability : 6
Nope. Wouln't gig with it because the sound sucks. I don't trust it. Don't really gig yet, not good enough, but I'd definately get a new guitar.

Customer Support : 10
The company seemed to take it back. I guess that's good.

Overall Rating : 4
If this guitar would be stolen I'd be pissed, but only because I hate to be stolen from on principal. I'm taking it back to get my money back today.

The fret buzzing is way to common. Especially common when playing loud, and what's the fun in playing if you can't play loud?

I wouldn't buy it again. It's cheap, but not cheap enough to sound like this.
