Mine was made in 1975, but Hohner made these between 75-80 in the legendary japan plant.Mahogany body and neck fully bound, Indian rosewood fretboard with pearloid position markers and headstock inlay. Humbuckers, tune-o-matic and stopbar tailpiece.carved top with vintage sunburst finish. A great copy of a 59-60 Les Paul, I originally had one of these back in the 70's and loved it then, when i got this one i was pleasantly surprised to see how well these guitars have stood up over time. i put gibson burstbuckers in it, and it sounds just as good as my gibson. The tuning machines were still working fine, but not as smooth as i like so they went. Replaced with gibsons. The only major flaw in this guitar as it came from the factory in my opinion, is the abscence of any shielding for the electronics, easy fix. Other than that a great guitar if you can't afford gibson prices.

I been playing for 28 years, so my style varies, but i play everything from jazz to ozzy and it sounds great. I run through a digitech RP-7, bad horsie, into peavey special 212. I can get a ton of different sounds out of this guitar, before i changed the pickups and shielding it did squel quite a bit. This guitar sounds like every Les Paul i've ever heard. no complaints.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The body is an exact copy of a 1959 les paul standard perfectely balanced and carved top. The neck on this one is an exact copy of a 1960 Les Paul neck slender and wide with a very slight arch. My original hohners neck was similar to a 1959 gibson more chunky, so i don't know if this neck is an anamoly from the production or what, but it feels great. The harware wasn't the greatest, but still very functional. The finish is truly great on this guitar, nicely aged vintage sunburst, with triple-ply binding on the body, neck, and headstock just like a Gibson Les Paul Custom.

Reliability/Durability : 10
I would gig with this guitar anytime, at any type of gig.

Customer Support : 10
When i was looking to get some info on this guitar i contacted hohner and got a detailed reply within a couple of days from their guitar department, this guitar is waaaay out of warranty but i was satisfied that they responded how they did.

Overall Rating : 10
I own over a dozen guitars, various strats, gibsons, etc. and i would say this guitar can hold it's own with any of them. This is a replacement for the original that i had in the 70's, so yes i would replace it,( i just wouldn't wait 25 years!). I love this guitar.
