I bought the guitar from Okalhoma Vintage Guitar on eBay in October 2004. I was really amazed at the beauty of the wood on this little guitar. The Frets are pretty smooth and even and the intonation is really good all the way down the neck. I bought it for a travel guitar for myself but my 10 year old son loves it because it is a better size for him than the full size guitars. It can with a nice gig bag with the double back pack type straps on it. Over all the guitar plays easily and looks great with a sound that is exceptionally huge for the small 3/4 body.

Sound : 10
As I said, it has a super sound for the size of the guitar it is. The top of the guitar radiates low frequencies very well. It sounds better than a couple of the full size dread's I have.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar has a gloss or shiney finish over the entire instrument and you can see the wood grain through it all and it looks really nice. The action is low and easy to play and it is adjustable so it can easily be lowered even more with simply using a dime to turn the adjustment screw.

Reliability/Durability : 9
The guitar seems fairly durable. The tuners are quality and keep the guitar in tune well. Time will tell but I have no reason to beleive that it will not last a Lifetime as the warranty guarantees.

I bought the guitar from the Oklahoma Vintage Guitar Store on ebay and they shipped it quickly. I have used them before and they have very good service, even on a warranty issue I hade with another guitar, as they handled it for me with no headaches at all.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for 14 years and I have a Martin D28 and a Fender Strat. This little hohner has worked well for me and my 10 year old son. The only thing I wish I had known when I bought the guitar, is that I wish I had known my boy Randy was going to play this one so much and I would have ordered two.

Very basic acoustic beginner's model that I bought in 1995. 3/4 size, 6 string, 18 frets, steel reinforced neck, height adjustable bridge, rosewood fretboard...I have no idea what any of the woods are, but probably nothing special. I learned to play on this guitar.

Sound : 9
Call me crazy, but I LOVE this guitar's sound. Despite the small body, some heavier gauge strings will really fill it in. I have saved the cash to buy another better acoustic and still I've kept this one. I've strung mine with Martin .012s and it's great for playing down-home Mississippi blues, plus the small body makes it easier to keep on your leg and lighter. VERY DARK SOUND it's awesome. So with some heavy strings this guitar can sound as full as an L-5 or a dreadnought.

This guitar has a very sturdy neck that's never warped for me. Frets are pretty high but I like them that way. The wood probably isn't much, as it's a cheap guitar. The only beef I have is that the 11th and 12th frets both sound the same pitch (ex. both sound E on 6th string). It's never really bothered me although it is a major flaw.

Reliability/Durability : 7
Finish is good, I've beaten it into my wall a few times with only a few scratches and a chip. Fretboard has some wear around the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings at the 3rd fret, and around all the strings at the 2nd fret, but it doesn't really inhibit the playing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Who the hell is Hohner?

Overall Rating : 10
I'm 16 and have been playing for 6 years now. I now have a Squire Strat copy and an Epiphone G-400 SG, but I'll never trash the HW03. This guitar has personality and, unlike my Squire, I'm proud to play it out on the street or anywhere else. A great guitar to learn on with light gauge strings and a blues machine with .012s or .013s.
