solid mahogany, Split top, newly engineered bridges says the owner of the shop. Rosewood frets, yadayada its all been said already.

To DROOL over! I compared it and the Taylor and Ovation dreadnaughts are about the same tonality. Covered tuners are rock tight. No need to worry about retunes normally.
The sound is blues, slighty sharp and plucking the low E gives 20+ sec. of tone!
However! Buy a set of lighter strings with it for a better sound. (Never trust factory strings on a guitar unless you are sure)I went with 10s and will go to 9s as the action will handle this without fret hum I think.

action was a bit high. The shop reset it for free. neck is straight as a laser beam. Nothing out of place. inner glue is unnoticeable. (a mark of decent guitars)
The mahogany makes for a bueautiful look with ample clearcoat.
Be it a club or carnagy hall I'm proud of this "little cheapo".

The staple name for harmonicas gets a thumbs up for my $140(new). I see this model has been around for a while so they got any bugs out and their foray into strings is just as reliable as their harps!

Haven't needed more than a reset of the neck. Done at the shop.

been playing over 30 years and the only better guitar I owned was a Sigma. You CANNOT beat this guitar for the price....hell twice the price.
They can have her when they pry her from my cold dead hands.

I bought mine in '99 so i guess it was made around that time. Made in indonesia, 20 fret, laminated top, mahogany with rosewood fingerboard dreadnought. Covered tuners which stay in tune very well. I've left it alone for months and come back to it in tune. Not really any features as such though.

I play all kinds of stuff, from children's nursery rhymes (i'm a teacher) to nirvana and beyond. It deals well with everything I can throw at it. It has a set of martin's phosphor bronze 12s on it and it sounds beautiful. Nice and loud with a good all round sound. It gets better the lder the guitar.

It was flawless when i bought it and it's held its shape very well over time (despite catching my daughter standing on the neck!) No buzzing, easy action. The biggest problem is fitting new strings but i dont do that often!

I cannot break this thing. I (seriously) have dropped a tv on it and the lacquer didn't even break! (think it must be a new military material or something!) I managed to chip it when i dropped it on my granite kitchen tiles but it's only 2mm.

overall I'd give this a 10. It sounds way better than some #400 guitars i've played. It's only been beaten by my mate's #1399 takamine!

Dreadnaught sized body, rosewood fretboard and bridge, chrome tuners w/ closed backs. Not sure of date of manufacture, but made in china. Appears to be a spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Beautiful transparent blue finish. Black binding on neck and body

this guitar fits my style. I use it mostly for rockabilly/punkabilly. as most of our gigs are acoustic, it goes unplugged. It's quite loud, and the sound is quite bright, tho I feel it lacks some on the bottom end. overall quite nice.

not much to set up here. The fit and finish are more than I expected for a guitar in this price range. action is standard for a big dreadnaught.

She is quite sturdy. I have used her at a couple of gigs and she takes the punishment just fine. She can stop a beer bottle with minimum damage, and she can withstand a toddler banging on her strings and body with toys almost daily. This is an acoustic you can depend on. I stand on this rating!

I have been playing for about 20 years. I also own a Norma copy of an ES335 that I put through a Peavey Express 112 for our electric gigs. I bought this Hohner to replace an old phillipino copy of a CF Martin Dreadnaught that gave up the ghost last year. I did try a couple of Epiphones before trying this one, but they're sound was kind of anemic. For the price, you can't beat this guit-fiddle.

Let me just give a quick note about myself-I don't buy guitars because of the brand name, I don't buy them because of how they look, and I definitely don't buy them because of what my friends will think. I really don't care what wood it's made out of, where or when it was made, or anything like that. I buy a guitar if I think it sounds good. I don't spend tons of money on guitars because I don't want to worry about babying it. 500 or 600 dollars is probably the most money I'd ever spend on a guitar, because anything higher I'd have to baby. I don't want to baby a pretty guitar, I want to play it. Well, that being said, this was made in Dec. 1999, made in China. 20 frets, dreadnought body, probably a laminate top because I would have payed more for a solid. All mahogany body and neck, rosewood (I think) fretboard. Open tuners. They were a turn-off at first, but, hey, forty years ago that's all they had and guitars were in tune back then. Regular-scale dreadnought neck; I've played fatter ones on dreadnoughts but not too many that were thinner than this. No included accesories. I also reversed the bridge and strung it left-handed.

My style spans everything- from basic, simple worship music to Santana licks to Nirvana and heavy metal. This fits all of that fine except for maybe the power-chord stuff, which I don't often use an acoustic for anyway, so that's no big deal. Strings buzz when it gets more than 20 cents off tune or so, but it stay in tune rather well, so that's no big deal. It has an ACOUSTIC GUITAR sound. I do a lot of fingerpicking (that's 75% of the time on this guitar), and the lows really boom out from this guitar, but the highs can be kind of weak. No big deal, I just pluck the high strings harder.

It was set-up fine. It had some smudges on the finish, but that was from people handling it in the store. No real flaws as far as performance, but there is a few cosmetic flaws. I also strung it left-handed and reversed the white plastic bridge thing, but did not reverse the nut and it turned out fine. The pickguard's on the top now, but no big deal. I might switch that someday, but probably not. As I mentioned before (I think) there were a few nicks, but nothing big. The nicks were the reason for the low price. It was also previously owned for around a month, I think, but not played hard. Oh, I also switched the black plastic strap button with a chrome one I took off my electric when I put generic straplocks on it.

I would gig with this without batting an eye, and probably without a backup, too. In fact, I will gig with it next gig I get, and will probably post another review after that. The open tuners might not be much on durability, but I can't complain after only paying 95$ for a guitar that sounds so good. The finish seems durable, the nicks were from the previous owner banging it around accidentally. We'll find out soon, because I plan to take it everywhere this summer. Can't take a 2500$ Taylor or Martin camping, can you? That's why I love this guitar-cheap good sound.

I've been playing around a year and a half, I think. If it were stolen or lost, I'd buy another one, but I wouldn't cry over it. It wasn't even 100$ after all. I own a couple other old acoustics that I fixed up myself and I Washburn electric. I love how it's got so much character, like a good dog or something. It'll go anywhere with you and not complain and still keep on tickin'. It's much more easily replacable than a dog, though. I compared it to some old Epiphones, a Washburn D10 (which would have been my second choice) and a Yamaha FG. The FG was good, but it was almost 500$, which I wasn't going to pay. The Epis were nice, but I like this better. I wish it had covered tuners, just so they'd last longer, but I can't complain. Feel free to contact me if you have any comments.
And remember-ROCK ON!
