Features : 8
A typical superstrat model made somewhere in the 80's made in korea by samick, samick was the builder of all korean hondo's.
21 frets, nice good playing thin maple neck with sharktooth inlay rosewood fretboard and grover tuners.
Don't know which kind of wood they used for the body, but at least it's not plywood or even worser MDF.
A quit versatile guitar with his individual pickpu switches and coil tap for the humbucker, SSH config, 1 volume 2 tone.
The tremelo is of a own design i pressume, it balances on a knife edge but is not realy floating, but good working and the guitar even stays good in tune while using it.
This one is finished in blue metallic and with a red binding, so quite a looker.

Sound : 7
I'm more a collector than a player, but this girl can handle a metal growl till a bluesy crunch, i'm using it on a yorkville sound ltd block100G and with a korg ax1000G.
And a 60's full tube 10watt music amplifier, without any effects.
He's not noisy at all in any setting, clean he sounds bright on the bridge humbucker with coilsplit on and warm on the neck pickup.
Don't expect wonders soundwise but for an old budget guitar he sounds not bad at all.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
The factory setup i have no idea, bought this one in parts so i assembled it again, the former owner was planning to do a van halen paintjob on it.
All was working, only the phase switch was broken off, the pickups are slightly misaligned with the strings but the important part, bridge and neck are good aligned.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I have no doubdt that this guitar will survive giging, he once fel over and the only damage was on the strings, no dent or anything to find on the whole guitar.
It's mainly a guitar for the starting guitarplayer, the finish is thick and solid, difficult to damage.
But this is common on old asian guitars, sometimes more paint than wood.

Customer Support : No Opinion
the company still excist but now it's called samick, and i believe they revived the hondo brand a while ago, but no experience with customer suport.

Overall Rating : 7
i own a lot of guitars and have been playing (badly) for over 20 years, but like i said i'm more a collector and a guitartech than a player.
for a budget guitar this one is nice, even better than some of the new starterguitars that are available.
