Hello, I am the artist of the dragon "decal" (not airbrushed-sorry) and the HISTORY of this guitar is as follows: Hondo Guitars out of Fort Worth, Texas- had 200 pieces made in KOREA (not Japan) around 1985, prior to Hondo buying Grover/Jackson Guitars in Ontario California.
This guitar was the focal point of the new line of guitars made by Hondo and featured at the 1985 summer NAMM show in New Orleans.
Because of the expense in making the guitar (even with a decal instead of air-brush) the guitar was never mass produced over 200 pieces, so if you have one, you're pretty lucky..I mean, it's not a ventage Fender or Gibson. But its a nice novelty and also a sore spot for me since I worked a long time on that dragon and never got anything (other than my weekly paycheck) out of it.

It has a Maple neck and fingerboard. If the humbucker is a Seymour Duncan then it isn't the stock humbucker they put in at factory.

There was also a "comit" guitar that came out at the same time.. but the decal sucked and only a few were made. ;)

This guitar was made in the seventies in Japan. It has 21 frets. It has 1 tone and 1 volume It has 1 humbucker at the bridge. This is a Seymore Duncan pick up. It's passive the neck is maple with maple fingerboard and the body is good ol plywood. it has a gloss finish on the neck. Tthe body is a strat style wiht dragon air brushed on it. This guitar has a floyd rose bridge and Grover locking tuners. It has a molded hardshell case.

Sound : 7
this guitar sound great for the heavier music we play I use an Ampeg SVT and a Boss ME-5 with it. It has a Really bright sound It is very limited in the respect that it only has one pick up. I wouldn't use it one stage as my sole guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
This guitar has a great action it's only 2 and a half mm of the finger board at the bottom of the neck. The pickups were perfect when I got it. Tthe finish is good the plywood sucks.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar has withstood twenty years of abuse and I think tht speaks for itself.

Customer Support : No Opinion

I've been playing bass for four years and this is my first guitar. I probably wouldn't buy this guitar because I'd prefer more pickups. But I love the feel of it. I've played gibsons Ibanezes and fenders and none felt substantuly better than this.
