I bought it at an antique shop for $75! It's a sweet guitar. It has 2 tone knobs+volume knob and selector switch. it playes just like the best of them and sounds pretty good too.

It souds pretty good. I need to put a new input in it but other than that, is sounds great with mild to heavy distortion. It sounds okay w/out distortion, but not great.

No flaws...that I know of. the nut was loose when i got it, but that was because of poor ownership/upkeep. the finish is beautiful.

I would definatly use this guitar w/out a backup for a gig (I might keep some extra strings handy, but that's me, not the guitar). everything about the guitar makes me truly believe that it will be in a museum in 150 years.

I love this guitar! I haven't recorded anything with it yet because I havn't had time to. I love the questions that I get about this guitar...everyone that I've talked to about it has never heard of the brand (they're missing out).

Looks just like a tele except for the headstock which resembles a raptor beak in some ways. Blonde hardwood, very heavy, one piece and bound with something brown. Tortoiseshell pickguard. Six saddle bridge and standard tele style pups. Maple bolt on neck with maple fretboard. 21 jumboish frets. It has a lovely retro look but the weight is 9lbs which is its only downside.

Sounds best clean and especially with the tone down for jazzy blues style stuff. Not so hot on the overdrive channel of the Marshall 15 we have but satisfactory. Put it through our COSM effects and it really rocks, savage or bluesy, twangy or woody it all works. These are not classy pups so what can you expect. One day I might replace with some Bare Knuckle Yardbirds but I'll have to save up first.

I got this in a junk shop but the set up was perfect. Best action I have ever played apart from an old USA Strat I once owned. The tuners are not original (Grovers?) but Schallers and they hold tune forever. The neck is slick and fast with a touch of relief. The only negative was that the nut whilst perfect in string height, had not been sanded down to expose the strings a little. That probably takes a little of the bite away from the sound so I might do it myself one day.

Solid as a rock. It may be an early copy but the hardware is industrial and the wood is real 'ard. This will survive world war 3 and sit in a museum in 2300 as a perfect example of late seventies musical history.

I doubt that this would be possible.

I have been playing guitar for 35 years and have bought and sold a few guitars in that time. I bought this just to jam with some colleagues at work but I have fallen in love with it because it is so rock'n'roll. If it went I doubt I could replace it but I would keep an eye out. I'm gonna give it a 10 overall because for the money it is one hell of a guitar.

Blonde (not sure what wood), used to have a tortoiseshell scratch plate, but I took it off once to do some repairs, and liked the look. Looks a bit like the Tele Bruce Springsteen and Prince used to use (but don't let that put you off).
Solid wood (v.heavy), and Japanese I understand. I imagine it's quite old - I swapped it for a truely appaling metal guitar 10 years ago, and it was well second-hand then. Two pick-ups (one lipstick - is that right?- single coil at the neck, one black single coil at the bridge), one three-way switch and two knobs - volume and tone. Fat neck, fat frets, slightly dodgy, twisted neck unfortunately, but oh well.

I had a diode or something put on the volume pot to ensure the sound went trebbly when I turned it down - now, when you put this through one or two loud, classic distortion pedals, you get the a fantastic clang, with tons of harmonics and screaming feedback. Without any distortion it feels a bit lame, but juiced up, you can get Beefheart-y treble, scratchy riffs. Fantastic for stop-start playing and atonal, a-rythmic fun.

It's a bit whistley and has a hum occasionally, but other than that it's not too bad. The action is high (cheesecutter style), but it like it like that - it stops you playing too slick, which is a good thing.

The neck is warped. I've tried fixing it, but to no avail, so any tips, please let me know. Also, the electronics have caused me grief over the years, especially the jack input, which is on the side - keeps coming loose and is a bizarre design that makes it near-impossible to tighten sufficiently. That all said, the guitar is pretty ancient, and was free, so, I shouldn't grumble.

This guitar has it's flaws, but is still the best guitar I've played. Other guitars are slicker, and more professional, but none has that particular tone that automatically makes you sound angry when you play. For that alon, it get's a ten.
What I used to love was switching it to the neck pickup, turning the tone right down and putting it through a DOD fuzz and Crybaby full-on. The best, least controllable grunge sound I've ever heard.

I only paid #65.00 for this beauty. I would guess it was made in the late seventies.I think it was produced in japan. It is of quality solid wood(unknown) and has a honey finish with an amazing tiger skin scratch plate which looks beautiful against the honey coloured wood.It has 21 jumbo sized frets and has a volume and tone control and a 3 way selector switch. It has top quality Grover tuning keys and 3 single coil pickups.
It also boasts a beautiful maple neck which feels great to play. The basic shape of the Fame is a rip off of the standard Fender Telecaster.Obviously, being a tele copy it has a tele style bridge. It was also in perfect condition when i came by it, but on the contrary it is now totalled.

This guitar would be more suited for blues style guitar. And is a little heavy for gigging.
But the sound it makes is ace, and it makes up for the weight, the pickups needed a little adjustment but soon enough it sounded brilliant. The guitar is easy to tune, and the tuning keys hold well, even when its in a soft case, so it is ideal for gigging. The sound is full, for single coil pickups and i prefer the sound to that of a strat.

The guitar seemed to be fairly well set up when i came by it, and the action was low enough for me to play on (I like ny action of the lowest kind). The scratch plate did not fit perfectly with the bridge so it gave the effect that the bridge was not straight. When i first removed the top, ifound that the soldering was high quality and that the wires seemed to be original. No one had messesd with it!I also noticed that the wood was high quality and the neck fit nicely against the body.

I have never actually gigged this guitar, but i bought it from a person who had gigged it so i would think that it was good for gigging also all the hardware is top notch. The finish was in perfect condition when i git it, but i seem to have dropped it, one too many times!I would never play agig without a backup.

A Black tele guitar with a leopard pickguard, plywood body, and maple neck and fingerboard. Basic tele copy (except the ugly pickguard!) The neck was big and fat and the frets were miniscule. The pickups buzzed like nuts. The thing wouldn't stay in tune for more than 30 seconds (I play with a heavy touch but not THAT heavy!)
Sound
:

It sounded decent through my 5150. But it buzzed and fed back uncontrollably unless I turned the volume off or stood off to the side of my amp. But, the sound was surprisingly ballsy and aggressive, reasonably full sounding, and not horribly bright like some singlecoil pickups can be. I kept the pickups.

Action was too high, the thing looked like it got put together by some four-year-old in some malaysian sweat shop. It was awful. The wood was awful (plywood!) The neck was relatively comfortable, though, the only plus this guitar had.

It was funny, the people at the store originally wanted $175 for it, but gave it to me for $75. I used it at a talent show and played "You Really Got Me" and smashed it at the end. But it didn't break very well (stupid plywood!!!) I had to take it out into the parking lot to get the neck to break off, adn then had a friend run it over with his truck, but the stupid thing wouldn't break! But, like I said before, the pickups were decent, so I kept them. They might come in handy for something...

I am guessing this was made sometime in the late 70's. A truly great, awesome guitar in that the previous owner(s) did some decent modifications to this beauty. It boasts a maple neck/fretboard, 21 semi-jumbo frets, solid MAHOGANY body (yes!), std. 3 way selector switch, vol., tone, 2 singles ( the bridge one is DIMARZIO HS-1) passive ones at that, solid black satin body finish. Std. tele style bridge with adj. saddles. Very solid and reliable. The tuners are GROVER PEGS. The neck is not as thin as one would expect from a Tele or even a copy; it is more wide like a STRATOCASTER. Like stated, nice semi-jumbo frets. I bought it from Millman's Armored Pawn Shop in Spokane, Wa. For 86.36 incl. tax. NO JOKE!!!! It even included a decent padded gig bag for the price.

I play a alternative/blues style. I use a Fender Super Reverb w/ 4 10's and a Zoom 505. Great sounds abound when I plug in with this setup. The dimarzio gives it a nice tone. And with the mahogany body a lot of resonance and deep tone.

The guitar was sitting in their pawn shop collecting dust in a major way when I rescued it!!!!!!!!LOL!!!! Seriously, it was dirty, but I bought it, took it home, gave it a "bath" and was pleasantly surprised at the hidden "features" that came with it. I tinkered with the bridge to adj. the action, no problem. Pickups needed no adj. No fret buzz (thanx to solid maple neck), no looseness, other than a minor nick on the back of the guitar, nothing whatsoever wrong with this baby!!!! WHOEVER PREVIOUSLY OWNED THIS BABY, YOU DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT YOU HAD, OBVIOUSLY, AND YOU SURE AREN'T GETTING IT BACK!!!!!!!!Other than putting new Dean Strings on it and minor saddle adj., no sweat!!

Will this guitar withstand live playing? IS a hog's ass ham? I compared this to the Fender American Standard Telecaster and it's "poplar" body, and there is no comparison. No exageration, it just sounds and plays well. Feels good to play. Even to sleep with!!LOL!!! The hardware= grovers usually last close to forever and should the bridge falter no sweat, just get a std. replacement. Or upgrade. The strap buttons are std. getting locks is a good idea if you want to kick it up onstage. Absolutely dependable, this particular one. This should be my main axe; if I didn't have one already, this would be it. I will say it's a tie. I also have a MX-Z Elite. (But that's another review.)

Refer to the Vantage review. I would be very upset if it were stolen or lost or otherwise. Kind of irreplaceable. Nothing to dislike and everything to like about this one. Hard to believe, in all seriousness, that someone had to pawn off this one. The grover pegs, the dimarzio pickup, mahogany body, 100% maple neck/fretboard, solid hardware, etc...a real gem. ESPECIALLY FOR THE TOTAL PRICE. I never even liked Fender Tele style guitars; I always went for the strat style but was difficult to pass this one up. It turns out I enjoy the body style and playability. There are pawnshop treasures out there; you truly have to look, though.
