I am thinking it was made around 1985 or so. 24 frets all plywood body. It has volume and two tone controls and a 3 way switch. The knobs are some of the nicest I have seen. H/H configuartion this has had the pickups changed to Honer EMG Selects. I don't know much about would but I'd say it has a Maple neck it's a real light color and the fret board is real dark? This is the BC Rich Warlock shape. It has a really nice Flyer Kalher tremlo on it that works great. It also has the neck lock.I have always heard the Kalher's are the best. It has grover tuners that work great. All the hardware is chrome. The neck has a nice fast feel to it. It came with a custom made hardshell case as well.

Sound : 8
It suits my style very well. I play mainly rock like AC/DC and heavier styles. I am using a Hughes Kettner Blue 15r with this for now. Haven't had a chance to plug it in to anything else yet. I have just had this a few weeks. The guitar has a little noise at high levels when not playing. Sounds great while playing. It has it own sound really. I don't know what to compare it to though. It does have a nice Full sound. I don't think you would want to play classical or country with it though. I really like this guitar a lot. I have owned a few real BC Rich Warlocks and I like this one just as much as my other $500 and up Warlocks.

Don't know about the factory b/c I bought used. Which when I got it looked like a kid tried to set it up. The neck pick up was held up by taping two battries to it. It didn't have any screws to hold it in place. Just some black tape over the top of it. Which was an easy fix with two screws and springs and untaping it all. The input jack was shot. It just needed a new one which ain't bad for a old guitar. The knobs are a little noisy but seems to be clearing up the more I work with them. Which would also be an easy fix. I set the guitar up and it now plays great. Really a great playing guitar. When I got the guitar it had 8's on it and I restrung with 9's set the action and it whales. The body has a few chips. The two bottom corners are banged up pretty bad but has no effect on playing it. But it still has the paint it had from the factory and it still shines great. It's redish at the bottom fading to gold up top. It has heavy metal flake in it. One of a kind if you ask me. I was going to repaint it since I do that for a living. But, it looks good the way it is. It had stickers all over it when I got it. I took some laquer thinner and all the stickers came right off and didn't hurt the paint at all. So, it was very well prepped from the factory.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
I would play live with this guitar. Which I plan on doing. The hardware is top notch. The finish is great and has held up great which this is an old guitar. The stap buttons must be solid b/c there still there and not loose. And there still in the factory holes witht he same screws. I think you can depend on this guitar. I wouldn't use any guitar in a gig without a backup. Stupid question if you ask me.....Anything can happen when you play live.

Never dealt witht he company so I don't know. They sure made a nice guitar here though. Can't say for there newer stuff it looks really cheap.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been play for 15yrs. I own a 1964 Harmony acuostic. And a lot of other stuff lol. My thoughts on that question is I am just glad the guy didn't know what he had here. I mean I gave $100 for a guitar a case and that price included shipping cost. I wouldn't take $300 for the guitar now. What do I love about it? Not many people has one and know one has one that I know of. It's a kick ass axe. I have owned a lot of guitar through many years of playing and this one is not bad at all. I would buy another one if I can find one. I can't say this enough. It's a really nice guitar. It plays great and sounds great. I don't know what they sounded like with the factory pickups but I am sure it didn't suck. I really like ESP guitars even there cheap stuff is great I think. If you can find a Hondo Warlock buy it. You'll love it if you like rock.

year? were it was made i dunno. i dont really know her background, she has 22 frets, lamanated body. 1 volume, 1 tone, 3 way selector. 2 pickups. rosewood and red dot inlays. she's pretty scratched up so that tells me she has to be pretty old. and it looks like more than one guy has owned this guitar. she's black with a red outline that is the basic and common colors from what i've read.

Sound : 10
well this is my first guitar. so im not to sure what type of music style im fond of. but i do like rythme and melody she fits both pretty well. im using a fender amp im borrowing from a friend. the amp is pretty old but they fit pretty good. she has a beautiful sound and she sings bright as shell. i guess she has a lot of different sounds. im not too sure yet though.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
again, i am not too sure about guitars but from what i can tell she has to be at least 10-15 years old. i had the bridge replaced because a peice of it broke off, it cost me bout fifteen dolllars but other than that if you put a new paint job you would think she's brand new.

Reliability/Durability : 10
well again, its pretty old and the finish is scratched, but the owner before me could have not taken very good care of her. i would play a live gig with her, but i would probably re-paint her before i did. the strap buttons are pretty solid. i had a fender strap and you had to jerk and turn it to get it off and it would loosten it up. but for how old it is yes its great.

Customer Support : No Opinion
well i haven't delt with the company. and i have tried to get it repaired. she is kind of a john doe, no one really knows anything about her background.

Overall Rating : 10
i have only been playing a year give or take. i own a few straps, ernie-ball, fender, and a lot of picks, mostly clayton and fender. if i had this stolen or lost i would probably buy an epiphone or a gibson. because i cant really find another hondo anywhere else. i love that you are really able to do just about anything you want with it. i love that it is durable and will last years. i do hate how the strap buttons come out but thats because its old. i cant really compare it to others. i do with it had a panel for the back when i got it someone lost it but they said that it is really easy to find parts for the formula 1 so if you have one your in luck. and there is one more thing i would like to say: this guitar when i first got it i was so excited. i had never had one before. i really didnt know what to expect. i really didnt like it at first because it was so ugly but then when i got better and started learning stuff, you kind of get to know it. i really fell in love with it and it will be a part of me for a long time. when i have a son i will pass it down. and hopefully he will pass it down. i love my guitar and i recommend it to everyone. she is a great beginners guitar and practice guitar and she would be awesome during a gig. so if you are looking for one i highly reccommend a Hondo Formula 1.

This mid 80's BC Rich copy is an Aqua Metallic finished rocker! It has the locking nut at headstock and "floating" Kahler Flyer Tremolo system. It has dual zebra humbuckers and black whammy bar. Formula 1 is imprinted on headstock and is a Japanese import. It is a heavy axe and has a low, fast action on the rosewood board on its maple ,bolt on neck. The 4 control knobs, tremolo heel, and tuning gears/keys,and neck plate are chromed. The plate also has Hondo stamped into it. This axe is a lifelong keeper! Rock on!

This is a H/H Double-cutaway. More similar to a PRS than a Strat. I replaced the original P/U's with a Gibson PAF in rhythm and a 'Dirty Fingers' in lead postiton. Tuners are Grovers, relatively flat neck, bolt on. Combo bridge/tailpiece. Finish is cherry sunburst. Hardware is finished in gold plating. One vol, one tone, 3-way toggle. Top of body is bound.

Sound : 9
I have to say, for a relatively cheap guitar, this thing sounds as good as any guitar costing $1000 or more. Even with the original pickups it sounded great. Its a typical, full Les Paul sound.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I got this guitar used so I can't speak for the factory setup. The top appears to be 3 or 4 pieces and are not book matched. The action is quite low and there is very little buzzing. My only complaint is that the truss rod is fully released and I still only have minimum relief in the neck. To get more relief would take some work by an experienced guitar tech.

Reliability/Durability : 8
This guitar has been beat silly. Dropped, tipped over in the stand etc. But it keeps on puttin' out. Very well made and I would gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I have been playing for about 25 years. I currently also own a Dillion PRS McCarty copy. I have also owned a Gibson SG Standard, Les Paul Artisan, Hamer Sunburst, Washburn Falcon and BT-8 and an old EPI 335 style guitar. This guitar plays and sounds as good as any of em'. I think what I like most is that it is just one of those 'gems' that you can't just go out and find. I doubt if I would try to hunt another one down if it were lost or stolen. Simply because they are relatively rare and this one has grown on me. It is one of those guitars that just 'fits' me. Like an old pair of shoes.

If you see one of these in a pawn shop or music store and can get it for a decent price, grab it! This is one of those 'best kept secrets'. People will shop for months for a guitar that is comfortable and playable and end up spending big $$$ on a snob guitar. No need with this baby.

I think this guitar was made late 80's, it has 21 frets, solid body
3 way control, H/H, either Seymore Duncan or Gibson, Maple Body and ash neck, Transparent, Body style is Strat, Schaller bridge, Grover Tuners, Thin neck, with flight case.
All hardware is gold plated finish

Sound : 10
I play mainly rhythm guitar, some jazz, country western,70's and 80's
some spanish, I use a Marshall VS100R (a very slight hum) and a 50 watt Magnum with rev and chorus, there is no noise and can produce a nice full sound for jazz and a beautiful bright sound to suit my other styles
I have no dislikes for this guitar, I have a collection of about 10 guitars and including Ovation, Casino and Lucille. This guitar has the best sound of all and can not fault it

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
For A, F & F, apart for a minor adjustment of the nut, I could not find any fault with this guitar

Reliability/Durability : 9
Yes to all of the above except the plating, seems a bit thin

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had cause to contact the company

Overall Rating : 10
I played the guitar on and of for about 30 years mainly as a hobby
If it was stolen or lost I would spend a considerable effort in trying to recover this guitar, I don't know if this guitar is an original factory item and is in as new condition and could well be irreplaceble, I absolutely love this guitar, like I stated before, I have a collection including Ovation, Lucille, Casino and others, my friends have a Gibson L.P. a top model Ibanez, I would not swap them for sound and it is better than anything that I have for playability and sound.
