You probably know this already... 24 fret, textured finish, H-S-H, basswood body, Edge Pro bridge. I've got the 2005 model. I've owned this guitar for 2 years now. It's got everything a modern rock guitarist could need, really.

Sound : 8
I play in two bands - a rock/metal group, and a blues/jazz group. This guitar suits both styles very well. I'm running it through a Nova System and Mesa Studio Preamp. The stock dimarzio/IBZ pickups are solid, they sound full and heavy. The neck pickup is great for soloing, and the bridge pickup is wonderful for chunky metal riffs. When cleaned up, the guitar retains a wonderful sound. Clean riffs sound great.

The Edge Pro is outstanding. It's easily the best floyd-type system I've ever used (besides Ibanez's previous Edge and Lo-Pro). It stays in tune perfectly, and sounds great. It's low profile means that it stays out of the way of my picking hand too.

Of course the best part of any Ibanez is the neck. This guitar has an extremely thin and fast neck, and outplays every other non-Ibanez guitar I've every played. It suits me so well. It's the reason I'm and Ibanez player.

This guitar will cover every style. If you've got the extra cash lying around, upgrade the pickups. You don't have to, however, as I said before, the stock pickups are great.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The guitar was setup very well, and had no flaws. The textured finish is very cool. The inlays are beautiful as well. It looks somewhat "plain-jane" however.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I play live about twice a week. The guitar is extremely durable. The Edge-Pro is amazing and shows no signs of slowing down. The finish is slightly wearing off on the curve where the guitar touches my body, and the black finish on the Edge Pro is wearing away slightly. Overall, it's very dependable, and I would gig without a backup (as long as I changed the strings first - it does have a locking bridge afterall).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never dealt with customer support.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing guitar for 3 years. I play everything from Steve Vai to Herbie Hancock. The bridge is amazing, and the finish and inlays are very cool. It's the best guitar for the money easliy. It came down to this or a Schecter Hellraiser. Although the Schecter looked better and had EMGs, this guitar played infinitely better. The main difference was in the thin, fast neck. I would not buy this guitar again, I would step up to something flashier... But don't get me wrong, this is an excellent workhorse of a guitar. It plays brilliantly.

basswood body, black hardware, "lo-pro edge" ibanez floating trem, Ibz/DiMarzio pickups in HSH configuration, 5way switch, volume and tone control, 24 frets, some kind of pearlescent blue -> black, would have given 10 if it came with real DiMarzios. super-strat body style, no pickguard, pickups are screwed dicectly into the body without mounting rings. it came 3 years old used and it was shipped in the ianez prestige cases, which fits like a glove.

Sound : 10
I play lots of music from blues to heavy metal. I'm running it through a Line6 Spider III 75 combo and it sounds amazing, the sound of the bridge pickup is somewhere between razor sharp and incredibly fat, the middle (singlecoil) sounds very strat-like when used together with the bridge humbucker in split config and the neck pickup sounds warm and full when played clean. this guitar can produce almost every sound if you play around with pickup position and tone control. pinch harmonics jump out of your amp at positions you never heard any before.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
i bought it used, it arrived in a case and perfectly tuned. the action was a bit low, but this was fixed with a half turn of my hex wrench. pickups were ok, didn't have a closer look at the routing, but as it didn't have any flaws i think it's properly set up.
There is a minimal flaw in the finish at the lower cutaway, but it's only visible if you want to find it. the finish itself seems to be the most durable thing your ever see: it doesn't get sticky if you sweat and it didn't get any dings or scratches from my pick yet. the black finish of the trem was a bit worn off, but that's normal if a guitar is played for some time.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this guitar will definitely withstand live playing, maybe the trem will have to be replaced one day, but that's just normal for these floyd rose style trems. the strap buttons are schaller straplocks, just perfect for me. the finish will last forever.
i would use it without a backup, because even string changes take less than a minute if you have tuner and a hex wrench at hand.

Customer Support : No Opinion
didn't have to deal with them and i think i never will.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 7 years now, I've played fenders, les pauls, the standart RGs by ibanez through several amps. if it were lost or stolen I'd try to get another one, though the new ones are gold or silver (disgusting colors if you ask me). i love almost everything about it: the body is lightweight but sounds heavy, the finish doesn't get sticky, the thin neck feels just perfect, the flat trem (the flattest one you'll ever find!!) makes rhythm playing nicer than on the other floating trem guitars, i could go on forever, this guitar is the best thing you could ever get your hands on.
